At least Its good to se that HG have a lot of ideas and are testing stuff.
Yeah, and I don't think purple systems would directly help with LNF development, so it shows they are working on NMS at least a little bit independently
I would be concerned if they didint add anything into files for like a year. Then i would start thinking that hg are finishing supporting nms
I think they'll keep updating it at least in line with LNF. I think the past year or so has been mostly bringing NMS in line with LNF development so they can do both simultaneously
So like if LNF has an active development life of 5 years, releasing 1 year from now (made up numbers), NMS would get at least 6 more years of updates
Which is why I don't think we'll get robust modding tools anytime in the next 5 years or so š¦
what does LNF means?
Light No Fire, hello games' upcoming game
oh yes you're right, haven't thought about that
alright so im barely started, just put down a computer, and this bear... dog... thing is haunting the area i put it down and to make a long story short:
Somebody please spoil me: is there a way to carpet bomb a planet and extinguish all life.
it's okay if it takes awhile i will come back
um no... genocide is not a feature of this game
U can throw creature pellet to draw hom away
yeah the game says i can do that but i don't have any and don't know where they're from
so my current plan is to circle the area with my ship and shoot rockets as soon as i see it
Build above ground so he cant get to u
You put it like that and it sounds unreasonable BUT IT FOLLOWS ME TO MY SHIP and now im huddled up and scared and every time i take off to try to shoot it it blends into the earth somehow and i swear to god im gonna run outta fuel and its gonna hunt me down...
it wont lemme copy paste a screenshot but its here right outside my first attempt at a house and it knows neither mercy nor sleep
Some planets have predators that are a threat to you. Eventually you'll upgrade to the point where they're more of an annoyance than a threat. But you can also just find another planet where everything is chill
Crafted from your inventory for a handful of carbon.
The pellets, I mean.
okay is that a research unlock or am i particularly dumb 'cause i swear i dont see it as an option here
i've got, in order:
Metal plating/carbon nanotubes/di-hydrogen jelly/hermetic seal
starship fuel/warp cell/ion battery/life support gel
then next page:
Just "Projectile ammunition"
nevermind. it turns out the solution was to craft something, but not the pellets.
No, the solution was the boltcaster.
so what exactly are the consequences?
do I need to concede to progress main quest?
and get atlantid mt or whatever cool stuff there is
from what I read it just teleports you into another galaxy but teleporter list gets wiped and you cant add new stations in euclid ever, is that right?

The Atlas Path objective is to visit Atlas Stations and learn the 10 Atlas Seed blueprints. Once a blueprint has been learned, the mission will task you with progressing on to the next Atlas Station.
To unlock all the blueprints, you must have reached Magellan rank by completing 50 Journey Milestones. Check your milestone progress and rank in your Catalog & Guide.
The Atlas Path can be progressed in tandem with the main story mission titled The Purge. Type !faq-artemispath in #bot-spam for more details.
Craft the last seed, Heart of the Sun, after unlocking it. For a list of resources you'll need, see image Ā»
Depending on the choice made at the 11th (final) Atlas Station, you will either learn the Star Seed or the Mark of the Denier exosuit technology blueprint. An endless mission titled Atlas Eternal will then be available, rewarding 1 Atlas word, and approximately 600 nanites with each additional interaction.
Known issues:
- Leaving the final Atlas Interface system to get resources for crafting Heart of the Sun can lead to bugs. We strongly recommend that you craft Heart of the Sun before entering the last Atlas station.
- You may end up with two Atlas Eternal missions in your Log if you unlocked Mark of the Denier.
where in that path am I currently? do I have star seeds? I dont remember crafting them but it doesnt sound like I will get star seed whatever
it sounds like it will just yeet me into another galaxy and wipe my dear teleporters
also is it safe to leave the station now? will the choice stay?
that faq entry is like alien words for me
also is it true that I will never be able to get portals to euclid ss after that?
I'll just reload restore point for now and fly out I guess
No, you can go back with portals freely
will the items get damaged? or only slots and when I repair slots I get all my modules/items back?
⢠Only installed technology will be damaged. Empty slots will not be damaged.
⢠Only the core jump will cause damage. Using station teleporters to go to and from the new galaxy will not cause damage.
but will I actually lose items or when I repair slots all items will be back?
Only technology will be damaged. Slots will not be damaged.
ah so it's not like when you pick up crashed ship and it has broken slots?
Yes
I am at the point of finishing The Atlas Path for the first time. I know that Hello Games just added a counterpart to the Star Seed with the Mark of the Denier, which seems to be linked with The Void Mother. I know the mechanical differences between the two items, but I've seen it mentioned that the Atlas treats you differently if you deny it, too. I feel like I have a good grip on the lore, and even though I lean towards Void Mother I can't see a good reason to deny Atlas, who simply wants my Traveler to experience creation as it has. There hasn't been much discussion about this online, so I thought I'd come here to see if anyone had any thoughts.
Now I'd have to agree, I tend to see to thw atlas more tho, I call my character Keeper of the atlas for that very reason
What does the Mark of the Denier do?
The same thing as the Star Seed, allows a repeating quest with the Atlas but instead of showing it wonders it charges with finding nanites, which seems way easier to do. Star Seed has slot synergy with the Rememberance, but not the Mark of the Denier. Not that the health cap is hard to hit anyway.
The reason that Void Mother denies the Atlas is because it did nothing about the horrific acts that were taking place (Destruction of Korvax Prime and enslavement of the Korvax). I'd be pretty mad too if a god who usually intervenes in major issues allowed me and my children to be obliterated across the entire multiverse
Throwback to that time that I correctly predicted the connection between Korvax and Autophages bc "Eheu" means "Alas" in Latin and the auto pages use a lot of Greek letters in their language. I know Latin and Greek are two different languages, but they do have a degree of cultural connection which is how I made that leap lol
I understand it from Void Mother's POV, but from our POV, with all the lore we have access to, it doesn't feel like denying the Atlas in creating a star helps Void Mother in any way, but would be denying one of the final requests of a dying entity. But on the flip side, this is new content and may link up to future content, and mechanically it's easier to fulfill, so I'm on the fence between what my Traveller would do and what gamer me would do.
just had a thought and wanna avoid wasting time: are there different/better ore veins way underground like some games have and i should actually be digging down to the mantle?
Just realized i've only been going over the surface/the rare cave without any big digging, and in a lot of games with mining the 'good stuff' is way down...
no, there's no such mechanic in nms; can't dig very far down either
thank god. infinite space and planets was big enough without also having to core out the planets lol, thank you
Starbound sends its regards
Okay so a bit better of phrasing of why I hate second person voice for inner monologues in non-psych games. It ruins immersion. Immediately it takes me from, yeah let's save our friend to, "What no that's not what i'm thinking at all" out side of games where the point is to explore philosophy I truly believe second person voice should be informative to the player only purely for immersion reasons. Let me get lost in the plot, even if that plot then asks me to decide whether an empty simulation or true final death is worse
Thinking about how I felt exactly as a traveler entity did when I was given the option to go to a new galaxy from Atlas.
Like I didn't think about it until now but it was like I bumped a stimulant.
I was shaking, my heart was pounding, it was 3 am and it felt like I just downed 3 cups of coffee when in reality I just picked a new galaxy.
Like that right there is the drive of the fallen travelers
Is there a new story quest line once you switch to a new galaxy? I never did got to the center of it all to reset things. Didnāt want to have to restart with a new ship , etc. unless you donāt, then I may do that.
There is artemis path and atlas path storyline
No new story quest in new galaxy
All your stuff carries over, but the technology modules installed in currently active equipment will get broken
So either prepare a lot of resources to repair or get a burner ship and MT to make the reset
I have burner ships. Do your multi tool and exosuit get damaged?
Yes to both.
Thank you.
You can't talk to Autophage until you've left Euclid, though.
False. Echoes content simply requires completion of the main quest path. The choice you make at the final interface does not matter for this purpose.
Does the purge cause you to lose your current ship and multi -tool?
They will be damaged but will stay
oh, so that's hwy ppl switch to a junk ship and tool?
Yes, more of a throwaway kind of thing. The main reason is that when you switch galaxies by either doing the Purge or he traditional way, everything will be damaged. Your Exosuit technologies, currently equipped multitool, and primary ship will all be damaged, which is why people switch to a ship they don't use often and the same thing goes to a multitool. They don't want to spend hours repairing something they invested a ton of upgrades into.
Ships and multitools not used will not be affected.
I'm doing the autophage quests and I'm at a portal
Will any of my stuff break if I go through it?
Stuff will remain intact once you go through a portal, and your ship will be a walkable distance nearby the portal once you emerge. Just be aware there is annoying bug where it takes too long to warp, which will warrant the game being restarted. Don't worry, the game saves before you enter the portal, so nothing crazy will happen.
K, thx
Iām letting Artemis die if that isnāt right choice then tell me
the right choice is whatever you think is right
ive been reading the lore and its actually crazy bruh
skipping through story dialogue is criminal
Yeah, maybe skipping the story when playing a story game is not the smartest thing to do
crazy
Did I kill the atlas?
I put him in the simulation, I genuinely feel bad when they call to ask what weāll do when we meet
Same
Where in the galaxy is the center, Iāve been jumping for 30 minutes
In the direction of light.
Guess whoās going to disappear in a dark alley way tomorrow
Santa
Hey with as minimal spoilers as possible is there an "order" (lore wise) to finishing the main quests? Rn I have the null one, space anomaly, and atlas.
Artemis path is main story
Right there's 3 "primary" missions though
I guess what I'm asking is is there a difference if complete the atlas path before the artemis path
Nil.
Neat thank you
With the artemis path being the main story im usually a complete everything else first kinda guy then wrap up the main story
Is there any reason this would be difficult?
The orbs you have to craft is what I found hardest, you need a bunch of still like cadmium, indium, and emeral drive
And then you need the previous orbs too
For the atlas
Hope that helps š
I've got thousands of all that stuff the only time I mine is with the smallest setting so I'm good on that, super helpful thanks!
Letās go I did a thing
Hey, I just finished the atlas quests as far as the orbs and it gave me the blueprint for the star seed, I think is what it's called, but I can't find it when I go to craft it
It's a suit technology
Oh neat, what's it do?
Increased health slots, 1 each for the Star Seed and I forget what the other one is named. Put it next to the other one for 3 total.
Oh neat, I guess you get a similar at the end of another primary quest?
I dont know what this means
It's the name of a quest
Oh cool, thank you!
Not sure if this been mentioned before but
Found a message embeded in the model for starship fabricator machines
right at the foot of the terminal with which players interact with
The message reads
this equipment is for
the use of authorised
entities only
ok so it's not hidden, just didn't notice it before lol
Yeah i found it long ago and translated..basicaly it was found in first days of new stations
And now I see the same message can be found on the space station core and ship upgrade terminals
On the station core? Now thats interesting
yeah on the terminal on top of stairs
If you look down on it you will see it as well
Imo the messages where there from day 1 of new stations. But i can be wrong.
Time to authorisingly manipulate the station
To bad station overrides dont work
Maybe one day
Bruh what quest is this from?
Main story
without spoiling too much, can you help me with this? before i played started playing the game, i heard that there are multiple universes/galaxies? are there any differences between them? like in terms of planets and what not. should i wait before i get to the other universe/galaxy before i look for a planet to set as my permanent base?
The different galaxies have different weight values that make certain types of planets and systems more common in them. None of the galaxies have any 'exclusive' content or anything though, if you find a planet you really like in your first galaxy there isn't much reason to not put your base there. The differences are more about what kind of systems and planets you want to see more often as you explore.
so for example if i'm looking for a specific type of paradise/verdant planet, i could find it in the first galaxy but another galaxy could have higher chances of spawning them right?
yeah, exactly
Do I lose anything when transferring galaxies? Do I explicitly gain anything? Like on coord exchange I only ever see Euclid, Eissentsm, or Ody, is there a reason folks are in/stay in those? Please feel free to tag me/reply, bout to konk out
I know that it damages all of the modules in your exosuit, starship, as well as multi tool. So if you have another starship and multi tool itās worth swapping to the one with less modules first. Beyond that I didnāt notice any other down sides, but it might be worth waiting for somebody more knowledgeable.
Im pretty sure its simply because there is so much in Euclid that there is not much reason to leave
I think Eissentam is the next ānormalā galaxy out of Euclid (correction itās a lush galaxy) but still people go there just to say theyāve been somewhere beyond Euclid (also itās one of the options from the main quest). Euclid is just where everyone starts. Odyalutai can no longer be reached on your own, so you have to go there with someone who is already there (I think, donāt know exactly how that works). Itās galaxy 256 and after one of the updates anything above 255 was removed (or the ability to get there through normal gameplay I should say) so you normally stop at Iousongola. As said, if youāre core jumping between galaxies your tech will all get damaged so itās advantageous to have a crap ship and crap MT without a lot of good tech on either and then package up all your helpful suit tech since packaged tech wonāt get damaged iirc. @steady aurora
But I don't lose inventory slots or glyphs or anything? And so long add I have a base there, I can get back, yeah?
You don't lose anything.
Yes, you can get back as long as you got a base in any galaxy you wanna go back to.
If you're looking for those, there's a featured base in a lush Galaxy right now, just use the anomaly teleporter to go to I think it's called the last egg of the dragon or something like that
Im on mission 16/16||. Its telling me to travel to the galactic core, does this mean i just keep warping on the path towards the galactic core?|| || I keep getting data injections but dont know how to interact with them ||
Just warp in any direction
And keep warping?
16 times total
Aah makes sense
The mission before this where they reveal everything about 16 almost had me in tears. Is it just me or are some of these parts of the lore really deep and somewhat emotional?
Lore is indeed deep
Wait until you find the autophage, they have some crazy lore
Im so excited for the endgame content
The autophage quest is one of my favorites, I just wish it was a bit longer
Is the autophage quest considered endgame content? Was it added to the game later?
Yes, it was added I think summer 2023 and is only unlocked after the artimis quest
Have you been playing since release? I only started in february this year
I started November 2022
Ah so i guess thats pretty recent still. Its amazing to see the knowledge that some of these NMS veterans have
Yeah it is
Where does the name Korva originate from? Is it connected to the Korvax? Im curious because I doubt that the names are that similar by coincidence
Who even is Korva?
Apparently a machine monitoring the Atlas, found it in the rogue data log at remembrance terminal
I only found 1 other youtube video refer to it though
This guy also found it in the logs but it was never referenced again
Pesonally I never went on a hunt for all the logs and lore but wiki has this:
In entry #5-A, Telamon refers to the Korvax Convergence as an artificial intelligence modeled after earlier instances of the Atlas. This could be a reference to the KORVA, a machine of unknown purpose mentioned in Rogue Data log #3.
https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Boundary_Failure
Interesting, there seem to be very little references to it
In light of the 16 minute loop, i was wondering if there is data or dialogue which tells us how time works across distant systems and different galaxies? In the theory of general relativity, the black holes warp spacetime. Is time synchronized throughout the galaxies and different distant systems? This would have to be true in order to make instant teleportation possible
Whole galaxy is simulation. time flows the same everywhere
Does ghost frigate birngs anything intresting in logs after missions? I dont have free slots to add it to fleet.
It just is a reskined normal frigate, but it's funny when you see the guy piloting it in your freighter despite it supposed to be driven by spirits
I was intrested if it has some lore in it.
Just for the expedition
Nope, same logs
Ok thx.
That atlas lore video was eye opening. I remember waking titan very well but wow. I didnāt know about all of those logs. Iāve never seen them in the game
this is just going to set your active mission; 1) the purge, 2) atlas path, 3) none
right after, you could swap to a diff mission; this isn't going to block you of completing either
so 1 for artemis path right?
ah thats what i needed to know got it

A: Despite what its objective says, no. The Purge simply requires the player to warp 16 times in any direction, to any system. Please wait for the mission to acknowledge progress on HUD before warping out again. Each warp teaches 1 portal glyph, if the player hasn't learned any yet.
ā Warning: After the 16th warp, it is recommended to take a moment to store installed tech/modules on exosuit, active ship and multit-tool tech inventories (or swap to secondary ship and multi-tool you don't care about, only do it for exosuit).
Note: If the player hasn't completed The Atlas Path yet in this save, it is suggested to do so now, since The Purge will keep registering progress even if it's not the selected mission.

why is the warning needed?
why do i need to store the things?
see post before this one
ahaha
got it
so swich to secondary ship and remove upgrades from exosuit right?
And switch multi tool
from where does one do that exactly?
is resetting the canon choice?
All choices are canon.
@analog breach I met the autophage, didn't finish all the quests though
how do I unlock their looks? aren't they past-expedition-exclusive?
Only 2 heads where past exp exclusicve
Rest u unlock buy doing they who returned mission.
U do missions for autophages for void motes. Use the terminals in their camps to buy stuff
Np.
What option should i choose im doing the purge atlas is askin if i should
ask for another way
reset universe
refuse atlas
I'm refusing them
@native carbon
š„
thats it tho?
i remember seeing like the new palm trees
I was told the other day this is where lore goes as well

Yes, this is the right place
What are these from?
The quicksilver shop
Expedition, or just in general?
Whats the benefit of reseting atlas?
You get transported to another galaxy, and all your current tech breaks
That's a good benefit lol
Benefits are good by definition. I'm not sure it is a benefit though, galaxies don't differ a lot from each other
Twas sarcasm, my friend.
Hard to detect over text
But why you answer with that then when he specifically asked for benefits lol
What else would I say? "There are no benefits"? New galaxies not qualifying as benefit is just my opinion, if they know what happens they can decide for themselves.
Hmm strange reason, but okay I accept it.
I wanted to pick this up, i went to the gliph and visited the space station and trade post but it wasnt in the rotation. Any advice?
Be patient. 0.33% spawn chance
Need crashed ships. Model of ship is tied to crash site Need planetary +- coords to find specific spot.
Hey guys since this server is so big, idk where to post a planet I found. I wanna share it because it's a chameleon planet and other people should be able to see it too and it's lonely here with just me and Crackers!
#nms-media
No.
WHEN WILL I STOP HAVING TO GO TO ATLAS INTERFACES
@fiery iron
No gifs in this channel please
Atlas eternal quest is well ... eternal.
so i will indefinitely go to atlas interfaces?
so now this game wants to make me look stupid?
wow.
thought we had something special
wait so why do people talk about "the final atlas interface"
and how it like wrecks your ship and exosuit and everything
where do i go to get that?
Artemis path quest

The main storyline The Artemis Path is composed of these missions:
- Awakenings
- Alone Amidst the Stars
- Ghosts in the Machine (requires progression in Expanding the Base, a secondary quest)
- A Leap in the Dark
- The First Traveller
- Patterns in Time
- 16 / 16
- The Purge - 16 warps in any direction. It does not require travelling to the core.
- New Beginnings - Like the Space Anomaly mission, this will forever remain in your Log tab (even after this quest's completion).
Do not reuse portals found via the storyline to prevent bugs.
ā For in-depth questions about these missions, ask in #nms-spoilers, or in #nms-questions with spoiler tags --

š Did you know? The Atlas Path and The Purge mission can be completed in tandem.

so it's not meant to be completed
i just go there and do it if i want 600 nanites and a new atlas word
what quest does it wreck your ship and everything?
like im preparing for that
and i feel like if i don't get to that point i've missed something
Sooo youāre looking to destroy all your stuff? Well ok than. š¤£
yes
i just wonder if i never get that event/cutscene/section im not actually completing the story
and that never happened to me
just wnana make sure i don't miss anything
Just head to the center of each galaxy and warp through it. Thereās just 256 of them. Done and done. All the destruction you will ever want. š¤£
At some point you quit going to atlas.
Understood. Iām only half way there. To the very center.
oh do i actually have to go to the center
There is a center of each galaxy and there are 256 galaxies. So no or yes itās up to you. You have fun doing what you want. Thatās the joy of NMs.
I would say do one just so you can experience it.
I can spoil it for you if you want or not help you and not tell you to get a crappy ship with no mods and a crappy multi tool with no mods and store all tech off your exosuit. Before you jump. ( making sure you use the crappy ship and tool)
why did I do all that awakening and stuff for a dead person
Continue with the atlas and the other quest (dunno the name) with the half circle or something as the icon, at one point you will get a choice to choose between 3 alternatives and one of those is that you get the quest where your stuff will be wrecked
I haven't redone the main story in years (last total completion was a little after Atlas Rises), how much has changed? Is it worth running again?
its WP2!!!!11!1!
it could just be a patch also, let's not get ahead of ourselves. first update of the year usually doesn't come right after the new year
i thought i made it clear that im joking
We wish š„
also... "usually"? did they ever release an update in january?
im curious
Sorry it's hard to tell sometimes on this server, people can get hyped over a single word Sean utters
nah its fine, im known for being overhyped over the smallest things
but i really hope that WP2 is soon, im sooo impatient, and the fact that according to datamined stuff it will focus on oceans it makes it even worse š
im a subnautica fan
No update till mid feb/march imo
probably February
what i mean by early is february
watch us gettin something on the first wednesday in february
I mean I would love to be wrong and they shadow drop Worlds pt2 in Jan
Fun fact. This year has 53 wednesdays
are there any expeditions still running right now?
my very unlikely theory is that they might drop purple systems for the cursed expedition
ye, liquid. and the cursed left
And aquarius
oof. well it'll be a while then
the RNG expedition went hard
Remeber to bring back the treasures from cursed exp
From what i know cursed exp is only source for the plant treasure
the last time i tried doing that the game refused
cuz its a "Important story item"
I am so burnt out on expeditions
same
It was task reward. So I dont think it should be blocked.
Will check eventualy
wait let me count
adrift, liquidators, aquarius, cursed, beachhead, omega (redux), adrift (redux), liquidators (redux), aquarius (redux), cursed (redux)
10 expeditions in a ROW.
and watch us gettin a february expedition š
as a person who is more on the exploration side, expeditions are boring
the only one i legit enjoyed was liquidators
short, enjoyable, and not annoying at all
the cursed was also fine but, something about it was off
For me it was boring. It felt like doing weekend mission again and again
for me it would be better for em to delay expedition 16 and like release it when WP2 would also release
Ending felt wierd.
yup
the "boss" if we can even call it a boss was meh
buff it and bring it to the core game
Something more should happen after drinking the infameous water.
also my theory is that
aquarius is a teaser for WORLDS part 2, which will focus on oceans
the cursed is a teaser for WORLDS part 3, which will add cursed systems with like their own systems and terrain generation
or worlds part 2 will add both, but i doubt that
The jellyfish was overused. Its everywhere
i like that they used a different design but come on
like why not a squid
or a octopus
u know
I just want like 5x as much actual narrative per expedition. Doing so much grind work to get a sentence or two of really vague lore really stretches the limits of what I'm willing to do
i hate when for example expedition is focused on a thing, while some of the milestones are about the last thing u expect
(example)
lets assume theres an expedition 17 focused on... farming
and then boom a milestone to defeat 3 SENTINEL WALKERS!1!!
or fishing... for some reason
The reality is they are low-investment "things to do" while they work on bigger features, so you get random stuff thrown in
Imo Expeditions reached the limit of what they can ask u to do atm without adding big fat content update that adds new mechanics and Untill they are focused on lnf they will drip the content.
oh yeah, old me thought 2024 will focus on NMS (aka adding WP1 and WP2) and 2025 would be a year for lnf
imagine an ocean themed update, where oceans are 1000u deep with new biomes, creatures and materials, and a new expedition focused on void mother, where you explore cursed oceans full of mystery.... that would be amazing š
they'd better have a new submarine if they do that, I'm not driving around 1000u deep oceans in the Nautilus
and with those new materials u can craft speed upgrades for your nautilius
they should just make a big submarine that can act as a mobile underwater base
aaaand jetpack speed upgrade while u are underwater
yeah, they should also add a submarine called "seamoth" and an armour for minotaur called "prawn"
also a new boss called reaper leviathan
-# jokes aside we need a mobile base š
I kinda dont want copy of subnatica. I just dont want shallow features. Why even need big sub when no water pressure and we can just use exisuit to swim and kill everything with our mt.
Make deep oceans worth your time to explore. Diffrent looking buildings depending on system race . Powering a deep sea should reqire diffrent type of power. Make items have more uses than just sell.
I had idea of land mobile base. Type of exocraft that would unfold to small base Like in oldschool rts games.
tbf depth pressure and new resources would be enough for me
and like the deeper u go the more valuable treasures u can fine
find*
Imo we dont need more ways to make money..we need more money sinks.
I don't really want to go around exploring in giant oceans just swimming. I'd like to have some facilities available to craft and other things, or just park the sub at a nice looking spot for a while where the giant glass windows provide a chill setting. Yeah I definitely want interesting features to go along with it, but big oceans require big speed and some conveniences
Time to take out the cyclops!
To my knowledge, because of their nature, they're either generations down the line or were there for like, the tail end
The gek Dominion was long before Polo and nada
š
Looks Cool . But can we get back tech module trading?
Talk about opening to modding community and giving some freedom to keep up game alive is up for some time. Maybe this is a small glimpse of it.
cannot wait for a mod themed expedition š„
-# /jk
does that mean anything
ppl say its a "WP2 preparation"
Wait a bit so pepole can actualy check what is going on in the files. Untill then its only speculation
k
That's already a thing in a roundabout way
cuz i assume its just re-downloading the files but, did that happen before with patch notes?
Im not pc player. But i think few times that was the case.
ah get it
well i think its nothing big
Yes
isnt it weird that i said that lol, im usually the one who gets overhyped over the smallest things
Bc the file size dont mean much.
i still remember me being overhyped because aquarius was like "16 GB" or smth like that
but the game was just re-downloading
I remember when nms was 16 GB on ps4
Im no expert but Ive seen people mention how HG changing structures in the files can show as a big update, it doesn't mean new files have been added, but that compressed files have to be redownloaded or something along these lines
hmm....
looking at how experimental patch notes mention changes to how mods will work this is more likely that
Yes. After even small change whole files need to be reinstaled
yeah i dont think theres anything new coming this month
My bet is new stuff in qs shop to unlock and maybe some bug fixes max. No update Untill after end of expeditions.
We are missing some really important stuff in QS shop
Like NMScord banner
When Sean? When NMSCord Decal?

wait can we see how those look?
Pic by Mattmaxnoir that I stole
Those Items are already in the game and can be unlocked with a save editor, they just aren't in the quicksilver shop yet so you can find pictures of them online, I think they also have their pages in AssistantApp with pictures
Example
#102
HG changed the file format they used, so steam had to redownload everything. Not indicative of anything other than that
GAWD DAMN that looks good
Just to add on top of what BomberBoi said
At this point we can't even take a peak inside the game files to see what has been changed or added for the gameplay
HG changed the file format to a degree that the basic tool used for decompiling game files doesn't work anymore
So currently noone knows what's inside and all claims can be dismissed as utter bullshit
Intresting. But why change file format in the first place
Real answer: because HG

Right now the modding community is more focused on figuring out how to get mods loading into the game using this new system
In short: Because HG can and we have no way to know their motivations
There's probably some performance benefits or it may be tied to internal engine changes, but it's all at the whim of whoever's working on said feature in the office
so no more datamining?
Not at this point
4 now
Not until the tools to unpack the files can be rewritten
Until new version of the tool in question becomes available
Or some new tool gets created from scratch
Noooo no more overthinking š
My bet would also be on engine changes tied to performance.
You can still overthink and overhype if you try hard enough
You just have to belive

sure, WP2 will release tomorrow
what I am understanding is that HG streamlined mod installations but broke even the decompiler tool so people have to start from scratch?
Wont happen without pact.
Somebody claimed the notorious lag when leaving atmosphere is gone now
But I can't verify that
i already have a pact about WP2
that it will release in february
if i lose, ima explode
I had more lag when entering than leaving. But its maybe platform and hardware performance related.
HG really ought to provide more accessibility to modding, I don't get why they're so averse to it unless I'm just being dumb
at least they're doing this in experimental
If you think this is averse you really haven't seen much
NMS with all its technical systems in place is their crown IP, their secret sauce
They can't go open it up for everyone willy nilly
It's still the game that pays their bills
I mean some basic accessibility and not open sourcing their game, if they don't want people to mod at all then why even do this
Compared to Bethesda games that is the same engine rehashed for the 20th time or so
They don't want to support mods and modded game instances
What isn't their code is not their problem
clearly they're open to it but just want people to do it the painful way of "well you guys figure it out on your own"
so giving a mod folder and being forward compatible isn't a big deal?
serious question btw I really don't know the modding scene of gaming in general
It will be a big deal once we know exactly what we're dealing with
Right now the community (not even me) are figuring out stuff trial and error style
There is a talk around for some time about when hg switches to more to LNF it will give some nms commmunty freedom to keep up game alive and create some content.
Its just wishfull speculation tho
I doubt that will happen given it would be easier for them to reuse the many systems they already have in LNF
But since WP1 at least NMS feels like a beta test for LNF systems already
If not freedom with interference with software. Then at least some tools to keep up game alive
I wonder if the new mods system will mean that mods can finally be loaded on Macs š
I just hope these modding changes are "we've wanted to make modding better for a while" and not "this is to prepare for EOS for NMS"
Given that one of the main bullets spells out "We have absolutely nothing to do w/ modding and don't actively support it", I doubt it's entirely the former. I can see it resulting from a change they've been wanting to make to their file system anyway, but tbh this does seem to have been in the works since Frontiers...
I think they say have to say they don't actively support it to cover their butts legally. But obviously they are supporting is since they have hooks for modders in their architecture
Could these changes be used to add support for the Steam workshop? I don't know what's involved in that
HG have a very hands off approach to modding. They tolerate it and leave us to our own devices to deal with any changes they make.
Yeah I agree that it's a different level of "support" than say BG3 or Bethesda games
It kinda feels like the new system's meant to work alongside some sorta UI since asking people to edit a file to change load orders and enable/disable a mod is kinda weird, since we sorta had ways to do that anyway.
Yeah, hmm. Combined with the note about how they'll disable mods on restart after a crash, I wonder if they want to provide some in-game way to manage what mods are installed
Iirc the struct used in the ModSettings file had fields for mod authors, mod IDs and dependencies, but only the dependency field shows up rn and we don't really know how that works so far afaik
So it could just be a prep drop for an update coming soon, something like Crossplay or Omega maybe?
Purely hypothetically, if they set up a cloud system for mods combined with in-game management, maybe that could mean consoles could get mod support as well? That's incredibly far-fetched, but I guess that could open the door ever so slightly.
And I guess storing mods on their servers for distribution would probably go beyond not "actively" supporting them
But it would make some sense, if you have a modded save and want the experience to be similar on all platforms, now that cloud saves are here
I don't see how HG intends to use "AuthorID"s without linking to some sorta mod distribution platform tbh. Keep in mind half these properties haven't been seen used yet, if they're used at all since they're a pre-existing struct that's been updated.
is AuthorID a new field in this experimental? But yeah either they have bigger plans, or they just put them in for future-proofing
AuthorID definitely goes beyond just ensuring uniqueness of each mod, and into the realm of a mods database
i think its building up for something bigger š¤
Nothing's really new except for LoadOrder being renamed to ModPriority (which is the main field we see used rn except for Enabled and Dependencies (which doesn't seem to work rn? More testing needed ofc). But it does look like HG've preserved the older fields too
@noble portal you mean dissonant planets? Iāve hunted wrecks from there and made loads of units!
Still unknown when they'll show up. Could be in Worlds part 2, but we've had no further hints about them to my knowledge
From what I understand in the lore (and random wiki reading too), ||KORVA == Korvax Prime == Void Mother == The Abyss?||
I do hope Worlds pt 2 is the next update but I have a feeling it might come later in the year. Idk we'll see.
yooo Mykeyc long time no see
here is my speculation
@native carbon I know right. I've been lurking trying to patiently wait for Feb and March to come but it's way too hard. š
My hope in worlds part 2 is that the presumed purpl systems get even weirder exotic worlds
I would love it
10 expeditions in a row is crazy
heck yeah lol
and i bet we are getting another one soon
Like I would legitimately love if the "weird" worlds (ex. hexworlds) became just as varied as the chromatic/mega exotic worlds for example
only thing on my nms wishlist are deep oceans
Anything that deepens the lore for me, someone on reddit likened NMS to "cosmic horror hidden behind an exploration and resource optimization interface" and I would love for Hello to lean into that harder than they already have
I have a question but it has a spoiler, so I'll ask here
There's a crashed ship as part of the first mission. Is it worth claiming it even though it is completely broken?
you can claim it in order to scrap it for parts to sell or upgrades for your existing ship
Nice! Thanks
Sooo I just finished the story went to a new galaxy and my sentinel ship is totalled and I don't have any inverted mirrors pugneum or radient shards am I boned?
If u dont have freighter or other ship to summon then kinda u have a problem
U have to make a base. Build a exocraft with scanner to find another ship to repair or find npc to buy ship from.
Jesus 𤣠let the adventure begin i guess
If you are completely stuck, PGSC offers a servers that gets you unstuck
I see a blue sentinel quad walker on some forum posts.
Does this help protect the player or it's just a passive pet?
It does attack enemies occasionally but isn't really that effective. Mostly a fancy pet
also you can ride it!
it happened to me too, if you dont have other ship I only can wish good luck
Summon a different ship
Aw not so effective? Thanks though
Showwie
hmmst
for not "actively supporting mods" this sure is a lot of support for mods
" Actively" supporting mods like bethesda workshop for example
I suppose part of this work is to just reduce support costs from people blaming NMS for crashes when it is in fact the fault of crashy mods
now the game will restart and work fine for them
Making it mod friendly will prolong game lifespan. Like with skyrim.
Eh. Well on one platform anyway.
Some mods can pour to consoles. Like with flying pets for example.
Just because HG allows modding, doesn't mean they support it
They don't support bug reports when mods are involved
They didn't support save editors' programmers when they changed save data structure a year ago with Omega, leaving them to figure shit out
well maybe I have a different definition. adding features to support mods being viable is to me "supporting" mods. it takes dev and QA time
They didn't support all the mod authors when they changed file headers over half a year ago with Worlds Part 1, leaving us to figure shit out
It does take work, I'm not denying that and I'm glad to see changes being made
But saying HG supports modding is an overstatement from my personal experience
And I'm sure couple other mod authors would agree
there's definitely a spectrum of game support for mods, and HG is probably in the middle or lower third I guess
Imo, HG's stance up till this experimental has just been "tolerant" of mods instead of actively supporting them. They did reinstate some obfuscated info they removed which hurt base building mods a while back, but I'd take that more as them fixing something they broke rather than being involved in supporting / encouraging mods.
These changes are a slight departure from that in the sense that they're amazing QOL features for mod creation going forward, but still don't indicate any future mod "support" from HG. We didn't get any documentation on the extremely vague patch notes and had to figure out how all of this works on our own, and they definitely didn't give any sorta heads up. We don't know how far they're gonna go with these changes either.
I have an (admittedly out there) theory on what they're planning with these changes, but it all rests on HG's decision making, which we have 0 insight into. It just kinda seems like Sean wasn't lying when they said "I think weāre adding things the community has almost given up hope on ever happening." since I don't think anyone really expected modding changes to ever happen haha.
Hmm did Sean say that? I must have missed that

I heard this existed pre-release but it was removed since playtesters got confused that they would return to the same spot and find everything to be different
Hello, what is the sentry for? The little sentinel bot you get after getting a settlement?
I just finished the story I believe I reset the simulation and by ship is completely destroyed itās a sentinal ship too so it need different stuff am I gonna have to repair this all??? Manually ?!!! It seems like a stupid thing to have in the game
For being a cute little companion
That occasionally gets in the way of scanning things
Yes, it's intented gameplay, you can always swap to another ship and use that or swap difficulty preset to allow for free crafting to repair stuff quickly
Damn..
Thats what I figured thanks!
Hello, I finished Artemis story by resetting simulation. After that I did atlas path which I cant seem to finish it or, it's just infinite. Also should I still get to the core after finishing the story or it's for changing the galaxy?
Atlas eternal part in atlas path is eternal.
I'm trying to hatch a void egg following the quest i used a portal to get here but it's saying none of the planets match the eggs resonance
I have no idea what to do
Need to put address from egg description
I can't add photos in the chat but I used the portal code from the guide I looked up

I did that i went back to the starting galaxy and used a portal to get here
But there's no quest marker here
@analog breach
Are u sure u entered right address? Do u have quest marked in log tab?
Quest needs to be done in euclid galaxy
I definitely put the right address in i redid it twice ended up in same place
Portal I came out of has a bunch of drones around it with different messesges from players
Maybe it's just glitched and i can't finish it
It has to be the one from your logbook the first time (I'm 90% sure)
@unborn furnace
I can't build anything though like if I was reset. Is that part of the questline? cause if I bought all these base parts to lose it all...me no be a happy camper
what do you mean exactly, where are you right now, what's the title of the primary mission that's not the atlas path or the space anomaly?
need to go to bed sorry, but will catch up tomorrow
During the Adrift expedition, I got freaked out so bad by Nada. Their empty shell was standing there, but there was a glitch that allowed them to move when you got close.
So I went up, stood there for a minute, staring at them just standing there, and proceeded to scream when they moved. It was funny.
Hey y'all what did Null do exactly? I know they killed people but is that like.. it??? What're the details? Null was the first to kill a sentinel, correct? Did null cause the sentinels to completely wipe that one universe? And did they use that for eternal life somehow?
(And was that the universe used in adrift?)
Does anyone know any of that or is it open ended??
I haven't played that storyline in a while, and when I did, I was younger and not good at piecing together the story, but it was my interpretation that Null was the first everything. They were essentially an Adam.
Of course, I could be wrong about this, I'm rusty on the lore.
That part about tying null to adrift, I love that. As for the rest, I haven't done this quest in about a year and don't really remember it
Null is (debatably, can't remember if its directly confirmed) the first traveler. They wanted to explore the entirety of their universe so they found a way to extend their life by killing others. If the Adrift universe is in fact the same one, then the implication would be that Null ended up eventually killing everyone there.
what do you guys think the reason is (lore-wise) that travellers can change their appearance so easily?
i mean, apparently travelers can/have to eat, but they can also turn themselves into metallic husks
the mission where he is introduced is literally called the first traveler so
i'm pretty sure he is the first
i didn't realize the connection between those two things
yeah, null killed everyone to live longer
Lore wise player always has anomaly apperance. Rest is for gameplay mechanics and to please the players.
I'm not sure
I mean
With it all being a simulation and travelers being so... weird I'm sure its possible
Anomaly is a recreation of vauge memory of atlas creator
Somewhere, I think in the base building description for the player customization terminal, it's described as using holograms to change your appearance.
well yeah but
look at the construct limbs
at that point you are fully replacing the limb, not just shrouding it
so i think that anomalies can be anything
the true "you" is the "soul", anything else can be made up by the player/the atlas as everything is fake anyways
I don't know if this is changed since the last time I went through the game. But this is the number of planets in the game
Its the number of planets that in TEORY game engine can handle. In practice the number is around 2 quadrilions atm.
Are there any cool things datamined (or confirmed) for World patch II?
there are cool things datamined, but none of those things are confirmed for Part 2
so what happens if i decide to make a new galaxy
can i return back to my old bases or am i just stuck there forever
You don't make new galaxy, you can travel to another galaxy tho, there are 256 of them in total
And yeah, you can always return by teleporting back, but before you do thay drop a base in the new galaxy so you can return there if you want to
Which cool things are datamined? š
Things like new purple system type. New warp drive.
heres my prediction of WP2
okay so I am on 16/16 part of artemis path but thought it was the end sine i selected "wipe the system". To be clear, the actual end where I select a new galaxy is "the purge" part which is after 16/16 of artemis path, right?
right; the purge will want you to warp 16 times, in any direction, waiting enough time in each system for mission to register progress -- before going through the portal though, if you plan on going to another galaxy (side note: can teleport back to Euclid ofc, but make sure to drop and claim a base comp in the new galaxy to ensure you can return), be sure to swap to a ship and MT you don't care about, and store tech/modules installed on suit to protect main ship+MT and exosuit from damage
yes I did the whole thing with tech/modules, ship, multi-tool. planning for days to the realize it was not the end. Just got thrown into another planet. Now I have to undo all I did, get back to normal, and then undo it all over again lol
i think they should shorten the warp time and put an animation/ a short video of some sort when entering a planet
this aint starfield
The warp is actually a loading screen, that can't really be shortened
Also to the second point- I hate to sound contrary, but I agree with fi. This isn't starfield and I'm glad it isn't
on PS4, star system loading could take over 30 seconds. to the point that sometimes I wondered if the game had hung lol
It usually takes that long for me on steam deck
@muted jackal so basically the Atlas is an AI that was made by humans in the distant future and everything on earth died and it got bored with nothing to do so it made a simulation with people in the simulation who think they're real. This simulation is the nms universe
Huh
Have subway surfers playing while you warp, problem solved
New underwater stuff huh. Wishing into existence?
Based on datamined info a big underwater update is coming
Ngl an orbital part 2 would be nicr
Nice
Oof, about 30% correct.
Oh sorry that's just what I thought from taking to them
I just want to own space stations.
Adding randomly generated rooms, exotic and shuttle customisation, station override chip function, pirate and abandoned station redesigns, and owning a station/system.
That would be a 10/10 update for me
Also creating a custom exotic would be pain cuz not only u need to get 3 exotics but also to get the right parts š
Ooooh. Gotcha, well as far as humanity goes, No clue about them. There are some things in game which are very confusing. Like Atlas depicting their world outside and everything. And other things, not aligning correctly. But, lots of that is up to interpretation
YESSS
Orbital part 2 sean i beg
Let us explore abandoned stations like derelicts for unique bp and deco
Please, I beg
Yeah and u cab repair them
Yes
YESS
Lemme use my totally legit station override chips
Idk if its possible technical wise but imagine deciding which race should be in your system, what economy, and u can change the conflict levels based on your actions.
And make it so you can put ships into deep storage in them and those ships don't count towards your 12 ship cap but you still own them
I don't know if we would be able to choose since it still counts as a "primary race system"
The economy though, is blank. Aside from what type of manufacturing it is.
So theoretically, you could get it to a T3 economy sorta like settlements
Also i want planets to feel different gameplaywise
All of the planets are almost the same
U collect sodium to protect yourself and blablabla
That's the unfortunate thing with NMS. That is unavoidable imo. How would it be changed without changing core functions?
Aside from new planet types, or new type variety generation (still want more glitch planets HG)
How do you change the loop style?
add more little planet stats, like the brood
This is gonna be temporary. Soon after, the same feeling returns
like for example "megaflora detected"
where giant sentient plant aliens spawn, which can be friendly or evil, or a planet where geysers can spawn, like "geyser activity detected"
the more the better
Hopefully they have something good in the pipeline
Sean is tweeting more, so now I check the discord if the Hype channel is out of archive
also please add normal weather, like rain which isnt extremely hot
or wind without any crazy storm
or thunderstorm without any crazy temperature
How about some normal snow and not a blinding blizzard
i would be fine with those only spawning on "weatherless" planets
I swear, visibility is so kneecapped on cold planets
The cold isn't gonna kill me. Being blind will
i love the waves they added but please make em less annoying
I kinda enjoy the crazy waves
like maybe a helmet upgrade that makes u see better during storms?
that would be cool
An anti frost visor or something.
Lemme have an exosuit defrost button please.
i mean it would be universal
I'd like that
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Storm resistant antiglare visor
60% improved visibility and decreased environmental effects on hud
Wasn't there a setting to reduce hazards effects on hud already?
In accessibility options I think
Not that I was aware of. If so, imma fiddle so much
how about removing that and turning it into a gameplay feature hehehe
How about not removing stuff willy nilly and break shit in the process
yeah i was joking there
but still i would really appreciate the helmet upgrade
Welp... that's gonna get reduced
lol, i find it funny that even after those 2k hours spend on nms i still find something new
I mean, outside from visibility. What would that upgrade do if it's an accessibility feature
That's just a huge credit to the game
yo where is it i cant find it
Try the display, or visuals tab
In accessibility
omg tysm
my dumb head thought its in the graphic settings
@solar cairn oh my god that changes EVERYTHING
Can you now see?
:D
None of that weird green mist
what does "drink their foam" mean? spoken from the broken autophages
Uhm. Well, they are likely the Korvax that became martyrs in the First Spawn Spawning pools. Nanite foam is their blood, as is all robotic organisms.
Now, they likely followed Void Mother but returned by building their own bodies as the barriers are decaying and Void Mother having more influence.
I'll ask this here since it relates to endings and achievements, but is it not possible to trigger center of galaxy achievement without doing the story? I'm at the 3k range. Does my ship need to have 3k hyperdrive?
Warping through the core will complete permadeath and survival achievements if you do it in either permadeath (both achievements) or survival (only survival mode achievement)

Now for my last acheivement, Extreme Survival! 9/10 atm
Artemis' grave on my new save is on white grass planet with extreme storms
does the PC version save NMS screenshots as OpenEXR? I just made one on the Mac version -- not the Steam screenshot function, but NMS itself -- and noticed it saved one of these along with the PNG. Seems that this is a file format that can render HDR, which definitely seems the case when looking at it
You will get a better answer in #nms-questions .
what does resetting the simulation do?
Ykw would be cool if we could make our own space stations that you can control and manage what gets sold who works there and the guys you hire would get recourses for the space station and npcs or people could buy stuff from it and you would make a lot of moneys
@hasty jackal Forwarding here since I should've done so to start with. Will edit in NMS channel.
Ok š
Hi all, I just picked the game up this morning... so completely new to the game. After watching a stream the other day, I was on the fence about buying the game at full price or waiting for it to go on sale. As you can see, I couldn't wait. Anyways, I am just looking for some advice on anything I should watch out for, both good and bad. I'm not looking for complete spoilers, but just things that are "I wish I had known" to make my experience better in my first playthrough. Thanks ahead of time.
I did not know i can recruit living ships to my fleet
That's wonderful you got the game! There are so many aspects of it to cover when you're new. My recommendation always is to follow the game's main "questlines" (Artemis & Atlas). And to abstain from keeping Multiplayer enabled while starting the game, at least until you make it to the Space Anomaly (where MP is more "officially" unlocked). It could save you from potential glitches during the initial intro missions/objectives. And most important of all, don't feel the need to hoard or stress over what to keep or discard. You'll be able to expand inventory spaces galore the more you progress in the game. Relax and enjoy the journey, this is a very chill sandbox type game.
Oh and if you don't get more replies here, don't hesitate to ask this or other questions in #nms-questions
fun times
Just adding my two cents on top of RHTās advice above, which I strongly second- there is no way wrong way to play this game. Go for what looks good, worry about stats etc later. Keep your eyes on #nms-questions routinely and youāll pick things up, even if you donāt have questions in the moment. Otherwise, boot up, get lost, tinker, and enjoy! The only thing that canāt be upgraded to max level is a freighter ship, but having ANY freighter is better than none, and at that, youāll get there before you know it, so donāt rush anything. I repeat, donāt rush anything.
Thanks again. So I can turn off MP and then back on? Is there any issues if I play completely offline for about a week? I'll be traveling in a few weeks and I won't have a reliable internet connection.
Yes
If you go to Network Settings, you can disable it. And re-enable it later once you've got the Space Anomaly
unlocked.
And it's perfectly fine if you play completely offline too. I personally prefer it tbh. As long as you're not doing these time limited events called (community) Expeditions which do require your system to connect to Hello Games' servers.

Perfect. I'll be starting my first game as soon as I'm done with work.

Also there's a lot of game options you can set to customize your experience, and you can set most of them dynamically while you play. So you can really finetune the kind of experience and difficulty level you want out of the game
Can this go in the Gallery?
Yes
Any recent datamined stuff other than the quicksilver shop items lately?
just the modding changes I think
my Worlds pt 2 hype is starting to return though... hope that's coming in Feb.
probably gonna see an update either way in February
expedition reduxs end on the 5th so maybe the 12th would be update day?
they been dropping a lot of updates on wednesdays if i recall
unironically if that happens its going to be awesome
There are really only 2 planet emojis. Earth (not counting earth at different angles), and Saturn
World part 2, second planet emoji
if so, it will be interesting how they actually go about gas giants given that you really dont have solid ground to stand on
do you sent frigates down
are there floating stations
GAS GIANTS!
Gas giants wouldn't be more interesting than moons, and would be probably more work
But if they did add them, obviously nobody would object. Just never seemed like it'd be a serious consideration unless they are ticking boxes off and have no other ideas
Purple systems, I'm hoping for interesting new content there.
In my perma save, I've made it to the top edge of the galaxy in the Hilbert dimension, would be interesting to see some stuff to make travel more interesting
NPCs walking, seemed like there was some datamining that showed at least they were experimenting with ragdolls and navigation
Which would make sense to port that tech from LNF since they have to have NPCs walking around all over planet I imagine
Fair, but the idea of there being Gas Giants and whatnot would make the universe feel much bigger
Could also lead to new types of bases, such as floating bases
Since...well...gas giants have no surface of any kind
That's what I mean though, it'd be a lot of tiny tweaks to get existing mechanics to work, for functionally not enough change in the game
Imagine they add Gas, ice giants, hot jupiters, Brown dwarfs
I don't think it'd be bad for the game, just to be clear, I like the ideas, if that's what they do I wouldn't be uspet
I think this convo is probably better suited for #nms-the-future since this isn't spoiler-related
Tbh I always just assumed they'd have floating islands or something
I'm out of the loop and I have just one question.
Worlds pt 2. How are the chances?
50/50, it'll either be worlds part 2 or not

Odds are good enough
(But I'll make that 75/25 in my head for no reason other than wishful thinking)
It's either worlds or the exact same emoji sent being added to the game in particular, good luck finding that.
Now that I think of, it's a bit early for an emoji, assuming the update will only come when the expeditions end
I reckon the last one was scheduled to go until beginning of february...
It'll probably be pretty big since it won't release next week
So this is quite an early tease
Same as Worlds pt 1. š
That one had an "early" tease too...
Can we dream?
My greedy dumbass is thinking if this is Worlds Part 2 and it's this early on how big will the summer update be this year and would it be a possible Part 3 to Worlds that is even bigger? It was kind of like this last year. Orbital was a pretty big update overhauling the space stations early on and then we get Worlds Part 1 which was amazing. So it makes you think that this is Part 2 leading into a 3rd Part or it's a update that is quite significant that leads into Part 2 during the summer.
If there is a part 3
worlds part 2!!!!!!!!!1!1!1!11!
it can release next week
but it cant have a expedition
nah. i think we will not get a big summer update this time
so do i need an interceptor to start the echoes content?

I'm trying to think, have we ever had a content update drop mid expedition?
I dont think so
I do wonder if this is worlds part 2, or actually gas giants
I feel like there's enough fantasy elements in NMS to make gas giants interesting
Floating islands etc
As long as they aren't just skybox scenery
Or if they might be another bit of worlds part 2. We know it's been delayed probably
Could just be a ringed planet too
i feel that if we got gas giants it will be for worlds part 2
theres no reason they have to be separate updates
which some people have mentioned
Speaking of, I'd like to see rings overhauled with the new volumetrics etc
They've not really changed since next iirc
Could be happening
gleam probably already knows lol
We know they are working on pressure as a hazard, so that could feasibly apply to gas giants as well as water
I've always liked the idea of them having floating islands, with higher pressure the deeper you go
And more resources etc
most likely šŖ is for worlds part 2
we are kind of short on planet emojis
so it makes sense
Definitely. I just expected he'd use šš
Since we've never had an update get a sequel before
World vs the cooler world
if i remember correctly one of the tweets involved several earth emojis, just at different angles
Literally
Makes me wonder if they might be freeing up summer for something else
If it turns out to be a space update that'd be cool as well
we still havent had the 4th part of that arg, have we?
I wanna see things like large asteroids you can land on, shattered planets, stars actually existing, nebula and solar dust clouds etc
Ik clouds exist but they barely do much
well technically you can already land on asteroids
on foot
not too hard to do with a freighter
Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if LNF was this year
Or next
Hopefully they release it finished. I think they are fully aware of that
Yeah definitely
Either way, the next time we see it, it'll probably release soon after
could light no fire be the "real world"? the structure shown appears to be the atlas being built
maybe not
just my intital thoughts for it all
Personally I think it'll be in the HG multiverse but any connections will be sly mentions here and there
and im sure many others have come to the same conclusion
Like how portal and half life share a universe but it's barely mentioned in the games
i wasnt aware of that
dam im too hyped now
Yeah it's not mentioned much. There's a few lore connections and some stuff confirming it but they're set in completely different time periods
figures. i only played the first half of portal 2 and that was it
Since we got an emoji with likely no update next week, I wonder if we might get an announcement or a trailer
I honestly love that
I hate long waits
Being jumpscared by an update is way more fun
True but origins got update art and announcement early
Frontiers too iirc
Imo patern and circumstances at the time where diffrent. Hg was working on getting back the trust . So it was crucial to show that they are working on the game asap imo.
Idk, it was already seen as a massive comeback by the time origins dropped
It's just weird to me that they announced it a week earlier than usual
Or at least it won't likely drop next week
I doubt it will drop next week when exp rerun is still on..my bet is on same day of redux ending
5 feb (wednesday)
If they're teasing it this early then, isn't that usually an indication this will a big update?
Not getting hopes up, any new free update is 10/10. Just factoring in precedent.
I wonder if more HG focus on nms content means we are closer to LNF being finished..since some things whrere done and pepole got tranfered over to nms team
Seems likely to be worlds part 2
High chances but nothing 100% sure
Yeah I agree, just thought it's odd they're not teasing next week instead
Ill grab that game in a heartbeat
Oh, of course
Would make sense to tease that early, if it actually introduces a whole new system type and some closure to some of the game's main lore
Dammit, I'd love if it was that. š
have you ever wished like we get an update at some point where ,,, 1. you can assemlbe any ship part and create one of your own, like the radiant fighter with vesper sails, 2: LIVING SPACE STATION, 3: 2: living frigates with DOCKS 4: LIVING ENTITIES 5: LIVING BASE PARTS, LIVING FLIGHT PACK AND COSTUME APPEARENCE 6: and many more
also ever wished that #hellogames) create a side game for action and shooting concerning No Mans Sky History with atlas and sentinals, how the war between GEK and KORVAX, How the VYKEEN and sentinals battled each other and where the travellers actually came from,
Living artemis
yes like artemis finally getting a full body different from the simulation
Maybe they could call it (No Man`s Sky Battles)... a full game with multiple campaigns to choose from and a multiplayer mode for peaople to choose any race to play with ,,,
I treat my freighter like a space RV
Same
:D
We cant see experimantal and internal steam branches anymore 𤨠. HG wants to keep us in the total dark untill update drop.
Astaroth fren!
Hello
My planetary overhaul senses be tingling
I didn't realize devs could block access to that š¤
We don't have any confirmation it was HGs doing
Its a new featue from what i understand
Could be part of global change to Steamworks in general
What are private branches?
Starting in November 2024, Steam implemented changes to its password-protected branches, converting them into fully private branches. This new system makes these branches completely invisible in the appinfo data, preventing third-party services like SteamDB from detecting or tracking changes to these branches ā or even knowing they exist at all.
ChangeNumber ā 26892267 āŗ 27103115
This changelist affected 206 other apps.
It's that
Though that doesn't mean 206 other apps had their depots hidden, it means 206 other apps had changes happened in the same time frame
I'd assume HGs internal branch was passwork protected cause ofc it was
that makes sense for internal branches, but hiding experimental branch sounds like a bug since it's available to the public
And the Experimental branch we could access also used the password
That was the whole code we input in Steam settings to access it
So it got hit by the same change as well
Ya, everyone needs to suggest they remove the password for it (if you want steamdb pushing the update notice)
strange way to enforce access, but Steam has always been wonky in that aspect
As of now we have to rely on exp users to tell us when it updates
We can still access it the same way, it's just not visible at glance
Yeah I guess it leaves Gunter blind when it comes to updates on experimental
It does indeed
I guess there's no way to give Gunter the password? I don't know anything about the Steam API
Sadly there is not
I bet little updates before summer update (World part 2)
And its interesting for steam, because no man sky is not the only game have restricted exp
I just finished the purge for the first time and wow didn't expect that to happen lol
bro if the one + three planets mean the worlds part 2 is on the 1/3 (first of march)
lol don't worry. Not how it works.
Sean often retweets his emojis this way. It doesn't point to any specific date
If there's an emoji, update is days always
Except for Origins
And Frontiers
And we have an expedition going on right now for another 11 days
how did origins and frontiers hint at specific dates?
i dont remember anyone knowing the date before hand
They didn't, but they were posted weeks ahead of the updates
Would be wild if update droped in nearest wednesday
Not just a few days
oh yeah i suppose
But from the other hand. If update would drop nearest wednesday ,players who already did the exp would had something to do.

With the likelihood of bugs introduced with any update, I doubt they release before the end of the expedition. But I don't rule anything out with them anymore
the 10 days on the expedition kind of throws a wrench in everything
otherwise id estimate tuesday-thursday next week
it could very well be the week after
That's my guess
Could be same day the expedition ends tho, it does finish off early in the day
thats been a recent pattern ive noticed
This is why I'm convinced it's part 2, personally
There's no way they would tease an expedition or even orbital sized update a full 2 weeks in advance
Just called Sean, he told me the update is pretty cool
Wasn't there for Origins, but Frontiers had a reason -- it was the whole 5th anniversary thing. It made sense to tease something. And there were some other differences: we knew the name beforehand, tease wasn't an emoji (the emoji would come later iirc)...
That being said, yep, I do think it will come when the current expedition ends
My point was: it's 11 days away, not some five weeks away š
hello friends!
I wonder if we'll have some random website leak an update like wp1
A chinese article leaked it a few hours before release
Iirc @glad kernel was the one who brought it to light
huh didn't know that, thanks
right here, and above
5th
Going out on a limb and predicting next week. Could be an update with no expedition.
I'm not making a pact tho š

11th.
~~But I really want to be surprised.
~~
(oooops, scratch that. I'm bad at maths and just woke up).
Same here, 5th.
If this is worlds part 2, and its on the same level as worlds part 1, there probably will be articles about it, so it might leak again. Hello games might have learned from what happened before though, since early articles leaked updates twice already
I bet next week though as release

I would guess it will have purple systems, which will have water worlds and ruins biomes. Beyond that, the new file system for PC. Maybe some alternate terrain gen for the new purple systems, but don't know.
And some story expansion involving GLASS, water, atlantidium or however you spell it, and Void Mother.
I have a feeling the update is gonna drop this Wednesday
I think they are purposely dropping it in the middle of the cursed because it runs along side it
I actually have a theory that the cursed was the expedition for part 2 but took it out so they could give themself more time
Better that and polished than a Bugfest nightmare worse than the brood mothers
Yeah, but also we havenāt waited more then a week for an update after an emoji in forever
Even wp1 it dropped 5 days later
I was looking at his twitter history heās been consistent with timing
If itās not worlds part 2 I think Sean made a mistake using a planet emoji tbh
Also Saturn was the god of time and space, and the cursed was litteraly about time and space
Just saying
Hereās my prediction for wp2 or whatever the update ends up being
-Auroras/more stellar weather event
-deeper oceans
-purple system
-new ruins/structures
-new enemies (the squids)
-new vehicle
-and other misc proc gen stuff
We were given a jar, and the update was about fishing
Lots of people, myself included, thought that was going to be a ruins overhaul update
Sean sent a snowflake. It was about fractals.
The guy loves puns and meanings, but also loves telling us nothing about the meaning
If it's worlds pt2, fantastic. If it isnt, it isnt. We don't know until it updates and the expedition ends in 10 days.
And there hasnāt been an update not released on a Wednesday since origins
I need more settlements stuff
Imagine a settlement on one of those exotic worlds and its weird corrupted looking animals somehow running a settlement
I personally feel like it'll be around the 5th
Like, there's absolutely nothing stopping them from releasing a big update during an expedition
But at the same time they've not done it before
The urn is the astrological sign for Aquarius. I thought it was clever, to be honest. But I totally get others being frustrated about it be less straightforward.
Actually, releasing it during Cursed redux because it's a lore tie in isn't a bad theory.
Tbf from what we know of it, it's definitely supposed to be a lead- in
So they might actually do that
It's a weird choice to announce it a week earlier than usual, if they're waiting for it to end
2023 and 2024 updates already changed a lot of precedent, so logically we can't even rely on that as much.
Yeah it's kinda been feeling like each year almost has its own cadence now
Either way, if it's part two, I can't wait to see those ruin biomes
Gimmie the lore.
Yeah I really hope we get a good chunk
