I wonder how long will it take them to fix the bugged marker for humming eggs
Spoiler: it's already fixed with a mod
At least 16 months more
despair.gif
if the datamined stuff will come to worlds part 2, here is my theory on whats coming.
Deep oceans:
deep ocean planets
depth pressure
(at least 500u deep oceans)
Creatures:
shrimps
squids
octopuses
mantas
Snails
New boss:
the giant jellyfish thing.
new title
New biomes:
underwater creepy
underwater towers
underwater forest
New purple systems:
(all of the planets are dissonant, new void mother and autophage lore)
new ruins biome:
giant anomaly golem thinny
dudes, can we talk about how messed up the nms world is?
obviously we've already known about this since the main story
but the angler turning to a literal sea creature after fishing for so long? jeebus
oh and the first liquidator that got assimilated into the hivemind?
The atlas is the simulator of universes. The atlas is also broken and dying.
Well i guess ima transform into a sea creature then
what will you turn into?
Turtle
Tutel 😄
how about the fact that all the NPCs is aware of the fact that in 16 units of time, their entire existence will disappear, but everyone is still walking around pretending its not happening. And they get scared shitless when you mention 16 to them
NPCs supposedly have no idea about any of that.
Their fear of 16 comes from unclear urban myths.
Normal NPCs don't know about the atlas corrupting or the simulation
I don't think NPCs know that the universe will end in 16 units. I think they associate it with Atlas and don't want anyone to mention it in the way that in the Jewish tradition they won't say or write the full name of their god
has anyone tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?
or blowing on it
Oh ok
or much of anything else
I tried kicking it
This is new? I have never seen it before
definitely not new. they are creatures that used to exist on that world, but are no longer created by the procedural biome system after the procedural systems were updated
U can eat him too
what are the big things that have been added since the whole sentinel update
Same bro, if you’d be so kind, ping me when u find out
Wait...that's what those last messages meant?!? Wait...was he the freaking Angler fish we actually fished up?!? At the end?!? HOW DID I MISS THIS?
i like surprise updates but something in me wants a vague roadmap of sorts, like what areas they are going to work in development wise.
I think that would backfire, it mostly does for devs
it wouldn't have dates at all
it wouldnt tell you precisely what they are working on either
maybe not even a roadmap, but something after each update drops they tell us what area they are working to improve or give some insight to the development of the game
i like the deep dive
Would be cool
It's in the last message from the angler, it's literally the "bugs under your skin" meme
Or the "your skeleton wants to be free" meme
Here is the bait data table. Only the six specific baits have fixed stats. All other consumables are calculated in the EXE, so I can't get their data.
Ty for sharing it. Pinned it. Is it possible that you edit this post to include info about what's in the file?
I just realized that when I pin the file was separate from the explanation
Done 🙂
Thank you!
Was hoping this update was going to be deep oceans. Wasn’t disappointed but still want to see this and more. Would also like to see surviving Atlantid colonies at extreme depths.
Does deleting and reinstalling the tech fix the bug?
Hell, something like the post-next Explorer's Survey would be great too, not promising to bring all of the features listed there, but still hinting at it with every subsequent update borrowing something from that table
Is the lore about the fisherman turning into a fish in the expedition or the base game?
Expedition
I personally don't get how software devs prefer XML over JSON
we use JSON all the time in web, XML is legacy for us 😛
Xml is just what we extract the MBINs as with mbincompiler. Cmk uses a custom ebin format for for nmsmb. Just a preference for how to look at it, not what HG uses.
I see
I think that's Worlds Part II. Deeper oceans would need to be a biome change, which would need to have new planets, which would make sense with purple systems
So it seems inherently tied up in a bigger update
are we thinking part II after this expedition?
I think possibly end of October, but not sure. They could hold it until February
Gotta be? There’s nearly two months left on this one.
How many expos have we had this year, it’s usually three?
Release around October 30th, 6 week expedition, redux expeditions start mid December maybe
Or no expedition, but I doubt that
It's just getting really tight into the end of the year for them to follow normal procedure
Didn't for me
And ofc we’re only saying normal procedure based on a 3 or 4 year pattern of an 8 year game so who knows. You know more than anything HG loves to generate buzz and give us happy surprises so you never know what’s coming down the pipe.
correct, a small sample size, but the only one we have
They’ll fix it. Also, it’s given me a reason to use the supply rocket. By the time it got implemented I was max cargo and had a max cargo freighter
release around late september actually or mid october
my bet is october 11th
When the current expedition ends on October 21st? I doubt that
oh, i thought it only ran for 6 weeks

why a monday
Those are Wednesdays
the two wednesday options they got are 25th october and 1st novemember, if they want to do yet another expedition and at the end of that expedition redux
bro we have two different calenders wtf
google backs you up so must be true
You might be looking at September
It would be interesting if they managed to squeeze in a fifth expedition to make up for only three in 2023. Which would also possibly make the redux run longer.
Im waiting for expedition 16. And exp 17. I wonder if HG has something special planned for it . You know Bc all the lore behind 16 and 17.

Anyone know the 2 biomes of fish that were not in the expedition? I found the “haunted” one, but can’t find the section of fish prior to that in the catalog. I tried dissonant planets but those just have fish from the corresponding biome, not special ones. I tried underground, same thing there. Exotic planets don’t have water (I think?). So what gives? Am I missing something simple?
imagine the expedition 16 will be about the purple systems
Toxic?
toxic, desert and haunted
try maybe infested or mega exotic for the "haunted"
Yeah I got it. Was the arid biome. Just overlooked trying that and was making it more complicated. Now I have bases in all fish biomes so I can relax and complete the catalog!
whats the arid biome (sorry i forgor)
Cactus Flesh and/or Pyrite as biome materials. Hot days, cold nights.
These were used often in the Singularity expedition and only appears once in the base game during the They Who Returned quest.
If Part 2 adds purple systems, I wouldn't be surprised if these will show up there.
I mean, they're coming from somewhere. Also, They Who Returned mentions "hidden" Atlantid systems
I looked into the messages in the bottles.
They are all proc gen. But i tried to gather them into some of what whole conherent story.
Ofc this is just my interpretation of gatherrd notes.
Yeah, I figured that. I'm going to keep a few amusing ones and discard the rest
So. There are 2 entities on expedition . 1 writes with "log entry [random leters and numbers] and other writes without it." They are together at last".
Days go by. They see animals and see beautiful things. And they hope the jurney never ends.
One of the entites throws pages into the water
"Perhaps they(animals) will read this message"
Are there bottle messages that also give out glyphs or are those just limited to the expedition?
They are only for expedition
Aww alright, I guess it makes sense.
Its the fishermans dairy
Then looters steal something or stuff vanishes. Things dont go well.
After that things go better " the smoke is finally starting to clear" ," things are fonaly looking up!"
They are closer to the goal (gold , loot , treasure, secret etc.)
They continue their jurney and explore
"I have been pushing the sub going deeper than we ever been before"( deeper oceans confirmed? Lol)
Then something happens
"XX days since the crash" ( sub broken? )
They start to using their supplies, water, air filters, flares etc
" i dont know how much longer we can last"
Then its going dark from there
"It all happend so fast, forgive me"
(One of them died??)
The other still tries to continue the expedition
" im getting close to the [X] and to think they all laughed at me. There is only one thing to do..." (last goodbye, burial? )
Entity finds the goal
" the [X] is mine.after all this time!finally, it is within my grasp.they all laughed at me/theyll never stop me now" " My glorious triumph awaits!"
(They? Other [X] searchers?)
But something goes not right ( monstrosities? Void? )
" we cannot escape" "the waters are rising" " The air grows thick and choking" ( out of air?)
"The shadows in the water. I pray its not to late"
" it will find its way in"
"You will not hear them coming. You will not see them. But u will know they are there"
" they live in the deep water"
"they come on [sun rise/fall] "
"The walls close in. If only we had turned back when we had the chance..."
Then last warning message is writen
" i am doomed , but perhaps this warning will save you..."
"Leave , leave now. Do not look back "
"Its too late for me , but this words may save you"
" Whatever you do , dont drink the water..."
End
U can also find bottle messages that have only 1 word readable. They are also proc gen
Word is lighted green ,red or purple,
So they are wet pages with txt ruined by the water.
U can use them as fillers between mesaages gaps in your own story interpretations.
If anyone wants to string together a story by picking and choosing I suppose
Thx
All stories in the end are canon by lore. When diffent iterations have diffent outcomes and stories.
Thats a fairly helpful copout by HG for their own lore building haha, but it does make player interpretations a lot more valid if each one of them has likely occured within the simulation
Much like our own Many Universe interpretation, except proven in-game
Only few details are important from these messages. It gives room of own interpretation. Like Water drinking and shadows in the water. From deeper lore perspective.
HG teasing some enemy like the datamined boss? Or something void related
Gathering and patchworking a conherent story from as much messages as posible was fun. But now i have 2 ships inv full of bottles to clear.
And fishes to catch
There are supposedly unused fish in the game files W
If the next update is worlds part 2 I reckon the following Tuesday ish
I think that's a given
They don't change water and then not expand on that more
Highly interested in wp2
I know it's too soon to wonder, but... the next Worlds on end of october would make sense.
It would give HG time to iron the update and then start the expedition reruns somewhere in november/december
Cthulu type creatures and ultra deep oceans?
So would it be better to just continue the quest and do the reset? Or will this affect my game ?
Only the Manta Ray so far, though seeing as HG used it's render for the fish icons, the others are likely also some sorta finished assets, which aren't in the files yet.
Im like 99% sure we are getting deep oceans next update
They should make a structure for us to be able to put our fish in with the next update.
All items (GcProductTable/GcSubstanceTable) that can be used as bait, sorted by rarity and size values (per type)
Note: These are just the values as shown in-game when used as bait. How this works with in-game mechanics is still unclear to me.
Updated here: #nms-spoilers message
Did they add Derelict freighters to random space encounters? I never found one, and now I got 2 in rapid succesion
They've been in there since at least Waypoint or the update before based on personal experience, but those are the "fly around" type. The type that you land on and explore is still exclusive to those scanners you buy in stations
They were a thing since long time
That is the thing, that is no longer the case
I just landed on my second derelict freighters that I randomly found in space during the expedition
Huh
Exactly
The dungeon type derelicts have been a part of the standard pulse encounter table for a while now, just a lot rarer than the visual only kind
Huh, did not know that
isnt there also a file referring to "squididle"?
Hey hey, is this the datamine channel?
. (oh shoot, sorry for the ping)
Or please someone drop me the link to it 🙂
Oh yea, there's an animation called SquidIdle but it isn't tied to a model
Sqiddididadle
It's a mix of datamining, story spoilers and pre-update announcement content posting
Ty
I'm sure I'm not the first person to point it out, but the render for the octopus icon looks like the exact same model as the octopus from the Light No Fire trailer
Makes me wonder, since as far as I can tell, No Man's Sky and Light No Fire don't seem to share any model or texture assets (aside from possibly some particles)
I'm predicting early november ishb ut yeah
If u look closely on later scenes there are simliar or same plants as in nms
I wonder if we might end up with NMS and LNF developed as sibling games with different settings but some level of parity
Honestly LNF looks to either be a reskinned NMS at this point, or the engine's being so specifically changed for both of these that many of the additions we see are engine level and not game level, although assets being this close to each other just feels like the same teams working on both games back and forth
Exp ends 2 half of october. Reruns will start probably 2nd half- end of december. There is space for 1 more update before reruns if HG decides to fit them back to back.

i just hope they don't loose track on what NMS is supposed to be. I hope they don't forget that this is a SCI-FI game set in SPACE. LNF looks like a normal survival crafting game like Valheim for example. What fits in LNF doesn't mean that it will fit in NMS. In a space/sci-fi game you want space/sci-fi related updates, and not what you find in fantasy survival crafting games
This fishing update has me worried that they will loose sight on what NMS is
It is an exploration game, and fishing IS exploration
I’m sure there’s an atlantid memory about a great rushing water beneath one of their cities consuming it. Given the name atlantid I would not be surprised if 2.0 sees them and their history being more important in the extreme depth biomes.
Either way, I hope the extreme depths offer some really nasty scary surprises. Really tap into that thalasophibia
Is LNF only a nextgen game or still will release on PS4 from what's known so far?
Kind of was one of my main concerns recently, fearing that we'd end up with a too similar game
PEGI 7 says no
You can be scary without being gory or violent, but I take your meaning
No confirmed platforms but we can safely say its nextgens-PC
Jeez, imo NMS fishing is what oceans needed
I can still remember the first time I cracked one of those abomination eggs. Had no idea how bad it would get. I still take great joy when I talk a friend into getting the game and they pop one for the first time,
I want deep oceans with this massive octopus in it, pls Sean 😭
I couldn’t agree more. Really enjoying it. And it’s a great way to get nanites and credits, esp if you’re new to the game.
Its same team same engine. So there will be simliar stuff in it.
Massive whatever. I will be happy with any creature. Imo more with alien looking like than irl one.
I wonder, if instead of rolling for ships we’ll have something like gene sequencing for eggs, make our own mounts and improve stats by feeding the fledglings rare materials.
@analog breach do u think we are gettin worlds part 2 next update?
👀
You predicted aquarius (the small update)
If im not wron
g
Hard to say for now.
Get it
Im hopeing for something special for exp 16 and 17 from story/lore perspective
Im like 80% sure we are getting a massive ocean update someday, which i bet is gonna be worlds part 2
I said this before but what if expe 16 will be about the purple systems and the void mother? Like a massive new lore
I dont think it will happen this year tho
Yup, but i think we are gettin the last update of this year next month
Imo it wouldn't make sense for those to release separately from potential deeper oceans due to the terrain gen changes, but a leadup expedition to them, much like singularity, would be welcome
Cause I'm ngl but the trailer gives off first NMS trailer vibes, like insanely similar.
Also what i mean by deep oceans is that i expect them to yeet new planets in, fully covered in ocean
Also, I hope HG can make use of said possible new terrain gen to implement some of the larger landscapes we've seen in LNF
If there will be an update besides reruns it will be also smaller one imo.
Abyssal depths with abyssal gigantism would be awesome.
Meh, its either worlds part 2 or smaller update
At a certain point won’t updates exceed the limitations of the older consoles? I don’t know much at all about coding etc.
full water worlds would be amazing. Same with full desert worlds. Dune like. Nothing but sand and dunes. I'm surprised how this aren't a thing yet
We need more desolate stuff in NMS. All planets are full of stuff
Dead planets
I agree. We already have zero atmosphere worlds, changing the texture and colour pallet wouldn’t be that hard. Barren planets already have scorching days and freezing nights, just need to yeet the stony out crops and cactus
show me a dead toxic planet with atmosphere
That seems to be what's coming, as well as a lot of unique biomes for the purple systems
Also i dont think making deep oceans gonna be like very hard, just use the terrain generation and then raise up the water by like 1000u up
Im not a dev so idk but
You and me are shockers. “Idk anything about making games but surely it can’t be that hard” haha
1000u deep would be enough for me
500u would be like fine for me
5 times deeper then what we have rn
That's how the oceanic biomes in the files work 🙂
They just have a super high water level
yuh
Do u think the next update is gonna be worlds p2?
1000u assuming they translate to meters would be the mesopelagic zone. Some spooky things there irl, would be very cool.
I think so, especially considering the expedition gear etc. Just my hunch though
i have a feeling that next update will be worlds p2. They were confident that it will be released this summer. So part 2 must be close. It probably needed a bit of polish
I believe theres a datamined feature where of u go deeper then 150u your oxygen would drain faster
500-1000u would he absolutely fantastic
Yessss
If they’re going to add new tech to survive in the depths I hope they add to the max tech slot cap. I’m running out of space.
Probably what aquarius was for, since it was made quickly
I have a feeling they made aquarius to tease worlds part 2
Like the datamined manta ray made a return in aquarius as a png but still
Also the datamined jellyfish boss and "squididle" animation
Like.. come on we need deep oceans
Imagine finding a freighter wreck at the bottom of the ocean aurora flashbacks
The amphora with a double meaning. We saw antiquity in the datamine, and ofc in the irl world we pull amphoras out of ancient ship wrecks
Also if they actually gonna add deep oceans i bet they also gonna add new fish to fish out
Well, either way they’ve bought themselves some time, 2 months till the expo finishes, then reruns (please Sean give us some early expos reduxed)
Would be cool if the icon fish, when added, would be the actual ones popping up during the fishing animation, especially if the catch was based on the actual underwater fauna of the planet
And at Christmas time they should add a mission in the nexus: kill the robo Santa from Futurama
Might be what that unused MP_WHO mission turns out to be 😛
If only. First you do atmo combat with his sleigh then have to take him on foot. Get a big sack of nanites when you take him down and a special tech upgrade for your rocket launcher.
Oh and a robo Santa skin ofc
My theory on whats coming on:
New sea creatures:
Sea slug
Manta ray
Octopus
Squid
Turtle (sea version)
New biomes:
UnderwaterCreepy
UnderwaterTowers
UnderwaterForest
New planets:
Deep ocean planet
Toxic deep ocean planet
Hot deeo ocean planet
Radioactive deep ocean planet
Cold deep ocean planet
Other features:
Depth Pressure
Jellyfish Bossfight
Like... 20 new fish to catch
Update will prob. Release on 23 of October
Also the eel
Pretty sure that's named seperately in the files as an icon
There's like 3 vars of small, medium and large which are normal fish, and all the new renders have names
Ya know. You missed one. There is such thing as underwater volcanos. That could be very cool. Underwater magma plains and massive geothermal vents. Use it to power your base.
We’ve also got the living frigate models, could be cool to have yuuuuuge whales
I'll dump the new icons and filenames in a bit. Might be useful for anyone wanting to take a look
My wishlist:
Whales
Massive sharks
New resource at the bottom of the ocean
Rework of the abyss monstrosities
Exoskiff upgrades
The Shark's also a named one rather than being a proc varient
Pls not the jellyfish. Zzzzzzz. Jellyfish in space, jellyfish in water. Jellyfish everywhere. Gib sharks, alien type animal or other more mean looking boss.
How many NPCs in the anomaly not yet attached to a quest line? There’s the two over near the chef. Is there anyone else who isn’t a vendor?
yeah.... imagine a kraken bossfight
it slams its tentacles at you
and spawns like sharks to attack you
Big Squid. How oryginal...
Maybe more like a Cthulhu thing, it’s been done before, but shadow over ismouth had humanoid fish monsters. Might give us our first humanoid enemies?
Ariadne dosent have but should have a quest line.
deep oceans also wouldnt mean dreams of the deep rework?
Not all oceans would be deeper most likely. The scan events for Dreams of the Deep might need a small switch but the mission would probably work
worlds part 2 leak (no joke, legit)
Surely they could just put the super deep oceans in the purple systems.
Precisely why I said that likely not all oceans would get deeper in principle
Makes sense. I also imagine the depth alone would make survival for new players very difficult so gating them behind a new piece of tech to even get to would be practical.
There’s also one thing none of you have considered from the data mine.
Dreams of the deep could be slightly reworked to unlock new tech needed for deep sea
i want the next boss to be aegis of the void
We all assumed the giant gek we saw were statues. What if they were mechs for fighting the pacific rim style monsters in the depths? The gek are ofc the superior race, why wouldn’t they have colossal mechs?
Giant Gek?
gekzilla?!
Data mine I saw on YouTube had giant gek statues in the “ruins” planet
Clearly some sort of mech
I'd like to think so but I doubt they'd revisit a questline that most people would've finished by now
A gek gollum
Those were travellers, and they're not gated behind ruins planets
Why ya gotta bring logic into it geez
Hell we have absolutely 0 clue where they're supposed to go since HG went and made a whole new directory for them...
Same but it would fit nicely tho.
Wait, they’re already in the game?
no
Unused, but in the files
All the named renders btw, for anyone wanting a closer look
The other biome variations are just recolours of these
Classic pulp 50s-70s scifi aesthetic is very different from a modern scifi aesthetic. Didn't HG straight up say NMS is inspired by 70s scifi imagery? Fishing with salvaged tech looking poles is definitely in line with that. Tech anachronism is a huge thing in cult classic scifi.
I feel obligated to note: Divergence Cube is not a cube! 😄
I really hope those will come in the next update
Tech idea.( from bottles messages) Underwater flares. To ware off aggresive deep underwater fauna
U use it same as animal pellets.
i dunno all those new fish just seem too much like straight-up Earth creatures, maybe they were brought over from LNF as placeholders
or they let their 3D artists have a field day and make lotsa renders
Well, the manta ray fully exists in files and there's a squid animation. Doubt these aren't planned for something
Beetles (the flying ones)
Crabs
Turtles
Fishes
And it's not good!! This is supposed to be a space sci-fi game, not Sim Earth
Or at least use most alien looking ones as base and change their look.
imo its like fine
Tbf, We've had mostly earth like creatures by design since pre release (deer herds, rhinos etc). The only real "alien" fauna are the flying snakes, proto gek and the exotic fauna types
If the World's Deep Dive concept art is something they could be looking at making more of those too
this looks like an alien squid
snail is like fine
but yeah the manta ray, octopus and shrimp do look boring
I had his shell as pet lol
it's really not. I bought NMS in 2016 because of the promise of endless alien worlds with interesting creatures and environments. NMS has never really lived up to that promise because early on Sean felt that having things that were too alien in the marketing would scare people off. Which is why he put a dino in that early trailer. And then everyone wanted dinosaurs in the game.
I respect the opinions of people who don't care and are fine with space turtles and space squirrels, but if those who agree with me don't speak up about it, then HG will think everyone is fine with Earth animals in a sci-fi game. And it's fine to have some of them, but when I look at that image of new creature renders, it's uniformly just "Earth creatures" in terms of the creative concept and thinking. "Hey can you make an octopus? ok thanks looks good"
Anyway this is getting way off topic from spoilers so I'll end my rant here.
Any feedback you have you can always submit directly to Hellogames! https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I'm aware of that, but hey sometimes community discussion is nice too~
I understand you fully, discussing it and letting out any frustration you have is healthy. However, if no one submit their thoughts to the developers change will never happen
I too felt that originally the game was lacking on multiple fronts, but if I look at what the game is today I find that HG have redeemed themselves beyond anything that was expected (from a game developer)
To get back on topic, the Shrimp is my favourite new icon (:
That one kinda reminds me of the arthropods from Worlds Part I just on a smaller size
Well who knows with HG these could end up being gigantic 😅
I hooked in a shrimp weighing 2.6kg, thats the average weight of a chihuahua 😅
Speaking of more "alien" fauna, I feel like the living frigates we have would feel right at home as dangerous leviathans in a deeper ocean (stylistically, probably a disaster lore wise)
what do u guys think is gonna happen for expedition 16
This is true, I was afraid after they ported over the cloud and water rendering, they would begin to homogenize other content. I like the idea of light no fire essentially being the inverse of no man’s sky in theme and scale but still having that near endless potential, they are their own entities though and should have some level of distinction.
It would be cool if oceans had ice bergs and ice caves on frozen planets.
i think it will def be worlds pt 2 tho. They said worlds part 1 is the biggest update of the year so far
Was there hints about those different types of ocea nplanets? I haven't played the new update.
@silk pumice ||The universe is a simulation.||
people datamined 3 new ocean biomes when worlds part 1 released
ngl i get you but... the squid and snail looks fine for me
sure the octopus do look basic but maybe there are more alien versions
Castmasterpro
Shore up your catch
If someone wants the exported texture
i hope this fishing update isn't a sign of what's to come. What fits in LNF doesn't mean it will also fit in NMS. I hope this fishing update is just a small anomaly and they will go back and make updates that fit in a ALIEN SCI-FI SPACE game
Btw, is there a place where we can see what is it known about purple systems?
I mean honestly I think the fishing update is fine people have been asking for it since launch almost so finally a large group of people got what they wanted
The problem is that it's too "generic". Like the person above said. It's too "earth-like". Both the creatures and how we fish. They could have made it more 'futuristic/sci-fi', instead of a basic fishing rod. It looks like it belongs in a fantasy survival game (LNF, Velheim)
And i'm afraid that we will see more of these features taken from LNF, that will not fit NMS at all
soo u r saying deep oceans is not an ALIEN SCI-FI SPACE game themed
Curious if anyone has managed to actually complete the entire fishing collection yet?
also the heck did u expected from fishing, alien minigun that brings fish out of the water automatically?
seriously
i don't know... just anything else than a fishing rod
also LNF features in NMS aint like bad, the game has its "ancient" and "futuristic" themes around em
whats wrong with fishing rod lmao, why cant an alien use a good and working rod to catch a fish
I remember aliens fishing in Outer Wilds and a few other sci-fi games. I don't think it's out of place at all!
What's next? Exploring medieval fantasy castles? Fighting walking skeletons with sword and shield? lol
And the end boss is a evil wizard dressed in wizard robes and a wizard hat
i would accept exploring ancient castle
ngl
thats a good idea
i could see smth like lightsabers in the game
I don't think they're going to go wildly down a path like that. I think it's just a fun little add in!
Even though if you think about it, ancient ruins of old civilizations are basically sci-fi castles. And space wizards have been in sci-fi before, lots of old 60s cartoons and stuff liked to mix magic and space, but I don't think NMS is going to do anything to ruin what world they've built.
Apologies if I used the wrong era, but I remember quite a few old animations that liked to mix sci-fi and magic, but I don't think we'll be getting magic in NMS.
But then again as I regularly tell people, "What do I know? I don't know anything!"
we literaly have ancient religions, books, relics and other stuff in the game
Exactly! There's elements of fantasy in sci-fi and vice versa. Similarities and stuff. I was just pointing it out since there seemed to be some distress. I was attempting to provide comfort or reassurance that things will be alright.
How about holographic nanite infused fishing rod though
😭
I wouldn't mind if we could get customized fishing rods kind of like how we can get customized multi-tools?
Also we allready have magic in nms: autophage staffs
Like if we could install them like we do the bobbleheads in our ships! We could pay for custom fishing rods with quicksilver or something!
I love the staffs! It took me so long to get around to actually freaking doing the quests for it and then I spent what felt like an eternity just to craft an acceptable staff (I was being picky about colors).
Here's the deal, the fishing rod tech is special because it allows for this
No other mechanic in game allowed to swap models of thing on the go
Bobbleheads and trails added new elements to existing scenes, while the new tech swaps them around
So the possibility for further customisation is there
Wrong channel
Problem is we're still locked to the stance / animation of holding the rod
And to using only the fishing mechanic
I really hope HG will expand on this because the possibilities would be huge
Imagine being able to swap character outfits based on installed tech in exosuit inventory
I will admit, at first I was a little nervous because I had just finished cooking one of every recipe to fill out my catalogue. I celebrated with "I'm never cooking again!" and then the update dropped. My OCD demands I now collect every fish and eventually the new cooking recipes. Honestly I'm excited to catch all the versions of fish, but I might hold off if any of the new recipes get too complicated.
I have a rich nostalgia of fishing in so many other games throughout my childhood and obsessively trying to collect everything, so I kind of look forward to trying to catch all the fish.
Also I recently discovered they added a difficulty option for fishing so if you want you can "auto-fish" although I think I have mine set to relaxed because I like to be involved but not paranoid about responding fast enough.
-# sorry i'm rambling
that's just the eye of the korvax
that's the eye of the korvax helm
you can buy it form the amonay
without lights
just a graphical bug
Thats the eye of the korvax
it's a graphical glitch
ig
hell yeah
YOOOO a nerf gun
That would be the Switch MT, lol
Hello everyone need help. Got a cracking void egg and got no clue where to find alien ship
you need to acquire one legitimately or be given one that has not been used yet
Fishing spear (idk how else they'd do it other than either of those two tbh)
Isn't that Palpatine more or less without the wizard hat
You know... is it described how sentinels are corrupted by Glass?
I remember settlement mission and you bringed spreading glass from expedition.
Apple Keynote in less than two hours
Imagine they show no man’s sky iPhone/ipad
They revealed the Mac version at Apple first
And they found iOS references again alongside ps5 pro code
Ps5 pro reveal is tomorrow also
State of play is tommorow?
A technical Keynote
9 minutes
So probably just the ps5 pro reveal
But who knows they might have short footage of games updated for it
NMS will get a pro update pretty much confirmed by found code
In case of Apple they showed 4K open world footage there before a Ubisoft show for assassins creed lmao
In the leaked code that might have been very early
TBH the only reference to PS5 Pro was the graphical preset called Trinity
Yeah which means they’re working on it
I’m pretty sure the “shell” on the snails back in this image is already a creature itself, and was introduced with the origins update back in 2020
So this image could be purely a mock-up and nothing more
also u can find the same exact head on some of the deers
The squid looks like a 3d model though
i bet those r like rendered
so they have the models
Most of the new images look like 3d models, and we already know the ray exists already in the game files
Maybe we'll get them as actual creatures in worlds part 2
The only new one that doesn't look like a 3d model is the snail
These all look like NEW 3d models
The starfish might actually be ripped from that one rock, but it's still new in that it's not glued to a rock anymore
I honestly don't think we'll see many of these in part 2
I still think these could be LNF assets, as seen in the trailer pic I posted ^
I mean
The shrimp and maybe the squid are the only two that share styles/ colours in common with the manta ray
No offence but there's only so many ways to model an octopus
Can be an LNF asset, doesn't have to be
Like the shrimp looks super NMS, but the octopus doesn't really
At the end of the day it doesn't matter to me it's just kinda interesting
All I know is that real-life deep sea creatures in our oceans are much more alien-looking and cool than any of that stuff, so I hope they've got wilder stuff up their sleeves
i want to see some bioluminescent and semi-transparent creatures for instance
Honestly none of that is stuff that isn't already on land ingame
If there's an art direction they want to peruse for oceanic worlds, then they should do that
Everyone wants to see something different from the game, and they can only go with so much
do u think the fish icons will be made into live animals in wp2
I doubt it
the starfish is allready in the game btw
as a rock... lmao
(ah nvm didnt read the message)
pretty sure, yeah
the manta ray was leaked in worlds part 1 (3D model)
im sooo excited for the squids tho, i hope they will be like masssiiiivvveeee
What's this from?
Light No Fire trailer
Oh
iPhone gaming segment of Apple keynote is over, no NMS announcement
Nearest nms/lnf annoucemnet will be on TGA imo
I doubt they'd announce NMS for iOS at TGA though
yeah possibly so
||No Mans Sky Spoiler||
⬆️
I just leaked the next update 😱
spoiler update for the
@tepid iris
No gifs in this channel please
I'm confused why all of them look like Earth sea creatures in a sci-fi space game.
You would think they'd at least add some bizarre alien looking creatures too.
species are plastic to the environment
Pretty cool that the last CM reward is an Atlantideum Firework. If Aquarius wasn't ending in October, it just might've seemed intentional...
But again, the next Community Mission's roll over date's still a placeholder so they might extend it? Pretty weird given this one's predicted to roll over in a few weeks
Between aquarius end and reruns begining is enough space for fitting 1 more update if they do it back to back.
Will they put anything there . Hard to tell .
Im still waiting for "Big" thing for nms in 2024 that sean said.
Worlds seems pretty big to me, if you put part 1 and whatever part 2 is together
it was originally supposed to be one big update
If pt1 and 2 where released together or one after another sure.
But its not the case
I want something that hits hard. To end a year with a bang. With a bit off cliffhanger .So u could not wait for 1st update of new year
You can feed your organic frigate with fish
Try and see. I think u should be able to
Well I guess it depends if the purple systems are part of Part2. I would think they would have to have some story to explain wtf they are and guide you to the systems. And maybe set things up for a bigger confrontation between VM and Atlas
Question about the Artemis Questline
I've done it many times before, but I'm actually paying attention this time through
Did Artemis try to go through a portal, but get trapped inside the wormhole or something and then spit out in a dimension between reality?
I agree I havent touched the game in years but this update brought me back
worlds 2 pt will be another slam dunk
such a good idea
i'm all for more ways to make bases actually useful too besides "surviving" which already isn't a challenge at all
this year has had some of the best updates ong
i saw one guy clip through the space station walls and there are a lot of textured empty rooms
i think owing space stations is definitely coming in 2025
but i dont see the hype about it, isn't it just gonna be a glorified freighter? what do you guys think you should be able to do with stations?
i imagine they could be a way to make in game community hubs, aka guilds
besides this idk what else owning a space station could actually offer
feels like it could end up being very shallow just like settlements
I just want deep oceans gosh seannit.
Deep oceans is so needed rn
I want a world where I never see land, or where it's super rare
Give me titans of the depths
deep oceans would be cool if provides something compelling. because deep oceans without any content is just a lot of dark water. so I'm excited to see what they're going to add to the deep oceans...
I’ve seen those many times while playing NMS ever since the early days. They exist.
The gameplay is a little lacking still underwater, but they keep adding stuff. The giant fish that attacks most recently I believe.
I’m pretty sure I saw an octopus/squid while playing the expedition. I’ll check my discoveries and get back to this.
Yeah it’s on Cayett Major at the final rendezvous
Anyways
Hi
New player....
I was wondering if any of you guys encountered glitches with monoliths... I'm gonna leave more of an elaborate story in #expedition-logs but to make a long story short...
||I accidentally absorbed the entire horrifying lore of the Gek|| from a single stone and now I don't know what to do faced with ||the horrors of conquest||
||there is an abandoned post log saying there was a race that was wiped to extinction by the sentinels for standing up to them and their planet destroyed. Personally I think the humans were that race||
There is one "potential" reference to Humans in the derelict logs (if taken literally instead of from the POV of someone at HG writing it) but it's still pretty iffy as being definitive
In all Human Worth
And again, with the fact that these derelicts come from alternate universes, it doesn't mean our universe has ever had humans
I bet worlds part 2 will be the next update
Why would they do a random content update? Like wouldnt it slow down the process of doing part 2?
Hello Games is a very organized team. They don't have everyone working on the same content drop at the same time, many people work asynchronously on other features. World's Part 1's clouds were in development for a year now, so I think the fact that they managed to (apparently) plan out and release Aquarius in such a short time frame is impressive, showing that they're likely on schedule for their internal deadlines to devote some resources towards this drop
Oooooooh 😮
Didnt know that my bad

I wonder what the next update will be about
Fingers crossed it's Part 2 and it drops like a day or two after this expedition ends. 😄
Hellogames might be one of the most efficient developers. I dont know how they do it, but imagine hellogames with double the developers, or 200 devs
No No Man's Sky footage in the PlayStation showcase 😛
😄
wait huh when?
maybe should've worded that better sorry 😅
when they were talking about water reflections they could show NMS
We'd get 8 big updates a year lol.
More pepole means more money needed. They do it bc they are small team.
Big amount of pepole =/= big success
Just catching up a bit. Has there been any spoiler/leaks about support for ps5pro? I don't follow all the leaks closely.
Nothing yet besides ps5pro and price reveal. Not not worth the price imo.
Imo We can safely assume that nms will be on pro
Guys why did gek genocide korvax
I dont care about spoilers i only play in creative becuase im lazy
They did add a Graphical Preset for Trinity, which is a PS5 Pro codename, with Worlds Part 1, which was promptly removed after being found.
But yea, no official announcement yet, and we likely won't get one till it launches, much like the Mac and PS5 / Series X Launches
So it is confirmed that new title is locked to yet unreleased content?
So they're clearly not done with water stuff yet. There has to be a larger ocean update coming.
Worlds part 2 HAS to be about oceans, too many datamined stuff about oceans
Like come on 😭
So maybe an underwater version of the vile brood mothers.
All ocean related datamined content that i know of:
Manta ray
3 new biomes
Depth pressure
"SquidIdle" animation
The jellyfish boss thinny
Its a massive jellyfish that spawns smoll jellyfish to attack you.
So yeah, a variation of the brood mother mechanic
Yup
The summoning item is a legendary fish (i dont think u can catch it atm, or if u can it doesnt spawn the boss)
Its smth like child of aquarius
And its a jellyfish
There's a Child of Helios haunted binome legendary, but I doubt that's it. Likely not in the game yet.
I honestly hope not, because the brood mother boss is very unchallenging and frankly boring to fight
🫠
Imo broodmother is fine
It just needs a special drop
Like a... broodmother fang that u can refine into nanites
it's fine if you don't care about having challenging endgame content
Corrupted sentinels
I don't, really lol
Also this game aint about challenge
tell me you never played the early versions of NMS without telling me
I mean, what early versions of nms have to do with this conversation
We are talking about present NMS
"this game ain't about challenge" yes the game is. just because its present state isn't offering much challenge doesn't negate that it being challenging was a design goal from the start
Wheres the challenge then lol
I'm not going to argue with you about it, if you're happy with no challenge that's fine
Just sayin this game is focused on exploration with a bit of challenge, not like.... extreme challenge
sentinel walkers would F you up back in the day. predators could practically one shot you. sometimes you'd be fighting them at the same time. Go watch Sean's twitch stream on launch day, he was dying multiple times
i agree 100% with you solar but the unfortunate reality of nms is that there is no challenge and the challenge that there is (which is literally just the early gameplay) is ruined by the fact that you can cheat on a whim or get rich on a whim without even asking for it.
there NEEDS to be a game-mode like perma-death but without perma-death, that is separated from the other modes, that has consequences when you die, and where pvp actually is a thing
pve is just shit
it will never be a challenge unless you go play perma death
Okay ngl i get u now
Sentinel walkers are trash
Meh... everyone has its own opinion
HG doesn't understand how to make intriguing combat
We need more high damage attacks from the enemies, but they should add a dodge move
the paralysis mortars were the nail in the coffin for them. just stunlocked forever
yes
Paralysis nerf when
i think HG is afraid of backlash from the community. On the subreddit there's a ton of toxic positivity for even suggesting some notion of difficulty in the game
Yeah.... sadly
The difficulty settings are the perfect use for that though. If people want to reduce the challenge or turn off combat entirely I'm totally fine with that
none of this matters because all the modes besides perma-death are interconnected
every mode is on the same server
The difficulty settings are also bad imo
They barely change anything in terms of combat
Or from what i experienced myself.... but u get the drill
We just need 1 thing, Dodging
I think they haven't really touched combat balancing in general in a long time, so that doesn't surprise me. Would love for them to though. And add a dodge move~

This would be sweet but more massive alien like creatures the deeper you go and procedural POIs.
So it's still impossible to get the Child of Aquarius title then?
I hope they'll add a update note for when we can actually get it.
Yeah, I'm a title collecting fiend (just 2 left...) and this annoys me.
I've recently been trying to finish collecting all the titles and filling out my catalogue and stuff so this is driving me nuts too, at least I have all the fish cataloguing to keep me busy until Child of Aquarius is fixed/added.
Hmm, could you send a pic of this item if you've caught it btw?
Oh weird, I think HG might change the design of the Jellyboss and the spawn item before it releases then, since it has a very similar name (Child of Aquarius) and practically the same icon since that's what the boss looks like
Either that or we get a lotta confused players on Reddit asking why the boss won't spawn 😅
It's just one of the four legendaries for the haunted binome. Nothing to indicate it's special at all other than that.
Yep, since it isn't, but the unused one doesn't really have an indication either. So the similarities between this one and that would be a bit confusing for people
So they're are people releasing this into the water, thinking it'll give them the title?
Not yet, but I think with how close this item looks and sounds like to the actual unused Child of Aquarius, it could either be a jumpscare for people releasing the wrong one and having the jellyboss spawn, or a disappointment if they were trying to spawn it and got the items mixed up
Ahhh, gotcha
Easy fix would be to change or remove the Child of Helios item, but HG could also change the model of the Jellyboss and update the unused item's icon to match the new model
I wonder if the current datamined design is just a placeholder, then.
Just my two cents though, HG could just leave everything as is to bait people like the first time bio horrors showed up haha
Oooh, do tell! I came in with Waypoint.
They showed off the bio horrors in the NEXT Trailer but we didn't really know how they spawned at the time
A lot of people attacked whispering eggs totally oblivious to the fact that they'd spawn the bio horror horde, and it made for some frantic situations at times 😛
...now it's a newbie right of passage. "Ooh, what are these--GAH"
I would love for them to just shadow drop Part 2 with just vague feature notes, and let the community discover things
I had a hunch that's what they did for the Jellyboss since it looks so functionally finished, since they didn't mention the new water physics either in the Aquarius Patch notes iirc?
yeah I don't think water physics was mentioned
A procedural dungeon type of thing would be dope
Sort of like the derelict frigates but on planets or the like
Ideally a bit more randomized than the freighter dungeons
Has anyone noticed birds flying into the water recently? Wonder what broke there
Freighter could also use some more variety. More enemies and diffrent interrior look depending on dominant race in the system
Probably ground-bird "distance keeper"
Yeah this and abyssal horror doesnt deal any damage at all
Yes pretty annoying
Honestly I like it, I like to think they're just hunting for fish
if those are for worlds part 2 we are gettin subnautica 2 early lol
Latest experimental shows your save version now alongside the build. Interesting with all the save format strings Aquarius added
prep for cloud saves?
Maybe... Wonder if it'll drop to experimental first like crossplay
whats the point of cloud saves
You play a bit on PS5, then continue on PC.
Something that has been requested for ages
cross saves?
Something like that, I don't know to which extent they will implement it
But it's being worked on...
UPDATED
All 'bait' items (GcProductTable/GcSubstanceTable), sorted by rarity and size values (per type)
Note: These are just the values as shown in-game when used as bait. Still things to figure out when it comes to the full game mechanic.
Monumental work, thanks!
Turns out the bionic lure is really powerful...
Does that match your experience?
I have had mixed results with rarity when I was testing food items before the new Experimental update. Have not actually tested Bionic Lure. Being the top one now, I might give it a try
I didn't use food to be honest (aside from some processed meat, but it was just to clear inventory lol).
The bionic lure seems good enough. I can get plenty of A-class fish and yes, it usually will give me a legendary at least once in a batch (20 I guess). I still get some C / B-class while using it, though.
Ok, sounds good enough. Pre-experimental update, I tried with batches of 100 where rarity value was 76 for the food item. At times nothing, or at best 2-3 legendary. But had the same results for 100 without any bait attached. Hopefully something changed for that matter
I'm glad they don't stealth drop
I like knowing whats changed so i can give feedback
ruins biome and what else
Pvp breeds toxicity and the toxic positivity gets bad enough as is
this is what everybody says though
dont play the pvp then?
why does it have to be such a pacifict game where everybody is afraid of a little conflict?
it's unreal
would you rather i slaughter people in perma-death?
would that not breed way more toxicity, even though it's technically part of the game mode?
the amount of people who've wanted a game mode like i described isn't a minority at all either
Just because people want pvp doesn't mean HG wants pvp
They have their own opinions about what the game should be also
they would've removed it from the game in that case
especially from perma death
NMS has always been about doing whatever you want and pvp is a main part of this
there are ZERO downsides to making a game mode like this. It would be survival with pvp that you cant turn off. ANYONE who plays it would KNOW what theyre getting into, just like perma death players know what they are getting into.
was this game mode added, i'd never go back to the others again
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Permadeath people have MP turned off. But I'm not even talking about griefing other players, I just don't think they want to invest their dev time into that. Sean has always said he doesn't want NMS to be a game like Destiny
understandable but i'm not arguing for any changes besides a designated game mode. i would take a week maximum to make. copy paste survival, remove optional pvp, separate universe. done
I personally don't care as long as I can avoid it, but the on-foot combat is pretty bad, it is in no way ready to handle a competitive pvp mode
you'd be surprised at the nms pvp videos of the past
i understand they have to make content that appeals to the greater playerbase too, that everybody can find enjoyment in. but we've had updates like fractal that was more psvr focused than anything. i honestly dont think it'd be a problem at all.
also i believe there are a lot more important things the game should get
I cut my teeth on the 1990s FPS games so maybe I have different ideas of what's acceptable for that. NMS movement is really sluggish
yeah very true
no mans sky pvp is as interesting as minecraft vanilla pvp. it's not good, but it's there, and i think it's cool
On another note, it would be interesting if the game takes into account water pressure with the deep oceans -- require a heavier grade of submarine as you go further down. And if you try to take for example the standard Nautilus very deep, you can start to hear creaking and maybe the glass starts cracking, and eventually kaboom if you push it too far
I hope it feels dangerous. High risk, high reward. Beautiful down there, full of hidden riches, but deadly
nms mp isnt stable enough
They keep not trying to fix it
Isn't weather still desynced
Quake 2 blaster when
crossplay took 6 months
new modes would take way longer than a week
i dont think you understand how huge crossplay is though. it's incomparable
we have the tool in game to create new games on a whim
it would not take 6 months or even 1 month to make
- imagine fighting a neutron cannon user who one shots you with 15k dmg
that's actually true though
i want a multiplayer focused update
Guilds
stability, quality of life features for multiplayer, perhaps multi-crew in some areas, guilds? more interactions, i.e player interactions but also base parts that offer more purpose
i love nms man
I'm on Switch so multiplayer updates don't do jack squat for me, sadly.
I'd prefer a way of getting some areas on planets that function similarly to the Derelicts in space.
Let me get some dungeon exploring in.
I was talking about ocean related datamined stuff
But yeah theres also purple systems, lush ruins biome, new desert biome, glowing striders and flying lizards, and more
I would love this update ngl.
can anyone that still has their Angler pop open a save editor and tell me what the item ID is. it would be like ^F_ALL_LEG_XX or something like that, but i'm not sure about anything except the ^F_ part. The game glitched out and ate mine during a multi session, I tried to send it to someone with a full inventory
Product ID S15_FISH
That worked, thank you so much!
Anyone know what Apollo says when they contact the player during their second mission (for something I am not sure)? I was doing the 2 gek missions to get the lore, and apollo contacted me, said they passed through a portal (I gave them the coordinates), and they said something about the atlas not letting them escape (?) and then spoke some random (?) letters, and then stopped the communications. Anyone knows what they say means?
I didnt get a screenshot, but I am sure I might find one if I look hard enough online
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/nwt2vt/what_is_apollo_saying/
This is the only reference of what I am looking for online
I cant seem to find anything else anywhere
I wonder if nintendo is limiting switch multiplayer or not
If you can tell me what is the mission name and mission tooltip before / after that stage, I can pull the data from game's langauge files
Im like 80% sure it is Patterns In Time
Yeah its probably that one
Yea this is what happened when I got the "weird"/untranslated text
anything known what could be the focus for worlds part 2 patch?
also im curious, i heard a youtuber saying that there is stuff from light no fire being put into nms, that true?
I imagine they're using nms as a kind of testing ground yeah
that would be so cool. really enjoying wandering around planets. if they put a thousands more assets into the game that would mean planets could feel much less similar
the Desolate update is so underrated
genuinely has the best vibe in the game
wish there was more of that
needs more of this alien type shit
was that the one with these cable planets
oh im looking it up. yeah absolutly alien
are there also like.. uh dungeons to explore in some sort of way?
like huge structures
there isn't
just the desolate derelict freighters
I don't think it was up to Nintendo; the nms devs just prioritized getting the game running on Switch with all the other content first.
Even the Nexus stuff was a secondary thought, until enough Switch players requested it.
the water was from lnf and the lighting stuff iirc
nintendo are restrictive with multiplayer stuff
doom 1 + doom 2 remaster doesn't have custom mods on switch only featured ones as an example
Never said they weren't.
I just said I think this one was up to the NMS devs.
NMS multiplayer as is would probably only cause problems on the Switch anyway. Honestly, I think it was a sound call, whoever did it. There's enough mp bugs as it is.
We have expeditions and the ODS. It's not like we're on a completely different, isolated server.
Agreed.
While I'd love to fly around & go fishing with family through crossplay, it's not my priority concern compared to having the rest of the game up & running smooth.
Very likely includes a lot of underwater stuff
LNF stuff being put into NMS is true. About the worlds part 2 - It will most likely focus on oceans, like creatures, depth and other stuff
its because of the datamined content and... aquarius update
dang it. i had hopes for more structures and a little bit more differences between planets.
maybe like bigger structures that have vibes of these palworld caves where they have some sort of random generation
If any youtubers were citing datamines as evidence of LNF stuff coming in Worlds Part II, they were either misinformed or lying. We have an animation for a squid creature that might be the same as the one in the fishing icon, which matches the art style of the octopus fishing icon that looks like the octopus in the Light No Fire trailer. It could mean that we're getting squid and octopus models from LNF or it could mean that we're getting a squid that may or may not even match the icon.
There's a lot of datamined stuff that may be for Worlds Part II, but none of it has any apparent relation to Light No Fire.
whats wrong with deep oceans tho
well I havent explored the ocean long enough to hope for more ocean stuff xD
I hope if the ruins biome does come to pass that the current "ruins" buildings in the game get replaced with something that matches the detail and aesthetic of the current game. They look pretty outdated at this point
It would also be of course nice if they overhauled their gameplay interactions, perhaps adding little dungeons or something

its a datamined content, and im like 100% sure this biome is unfinished
also i agree with the dungeon part
Yeah they're untextured blockouts for testing etc
Stylistically it'll also depend on what they're ruins of ig
What are you even on about? Sure let’s just replace everything that made no man’s sky’s art style what is was
IMO those ruins were always one of the least aesthetically appealing parts of NMS 1.0, so I hold no nostalgia for them
Let’s replace those iconic space stations with some hyper detailed industrial structures that are by all means cool looking but imo feel like they belong to a completely different game
Whoever is doing the art for this game now was not a part of designing that original art direction
The beauty many times was in the games simplicity
Anyways different discussion for a different channel
Fully agree
true and the older version has their own vibe. HG obviously moved away from that style, only keeping key elements, and the game has seen massive continuous success because of it.
the style is still there it's just evolved. the stations easily look like the cover of a sci fi novel
this exact same stuff is being said about modern minecraft btw
@rare imp these interiors are also way better than what we had before. stylistically, gameplay and content wise.
procedurally as well
I miss the old interiors, it'd be nice to see one or two as an "homage" of sorts in maybe an uncontrolled system so it shows all species together
I hope they add side rooms with windows, I miss being able to go up to a window at a station and look out into space
Autophage: "I was dead and deleted forever but now I'm revived, I'm back and I'm alive and free!!"
Artemis:
this game really makes you feel philosophical sometimes, its my comfort game when im depressed, i used to think its definitely the right choice to let Artemis live, since he forgives you, but after playing SOMA...that absolute despair, this time i chose the let him did, i felt heavy and wrong, but also that I made the right choice, strange games can make you feel like this.
sorry for the rambling it helps alleviate the depression lol
Oh yeah I have a question abt the ending, are we still in the simulation if we rest it ? And will the Atlas still blow up one day ?
Yes and propably Yes
So...what does it mean being in the simulation ? are we like Artemis when we put her in the simulation, and (i skipped the freaking dialogue) why zero, don t want us to reset the simulation
Again there’s no denying how visually dense these new stations, but again cramming environments with clutter doesn’t always improve them visually, simplicity can make for better art at times and in the case of no man’s sky it’s was its strongest draw atheistically

We can discuss this topic more in the #nms-the-future channel if you’d like
That's one insane looking station.
Honestly I have no idea why they keep doing it but over the last 2-3 years, every single update added smoke to a new area in NMS.
Stations inside and outside, freighters, abandoned stations, outposts, settlements, ships, exocraft, space anomaly, atlas station... there's smoke EVERYWHERE. I don't understand it lol
Worlds Part 1 added smoke across planets in general.
Everyone is speculating what new content we'll get, I keep speculating what tiny little corner of the universe is left that they haven't added smoke to lol. I think Aquarius might be the first one in years that hasn't added more.
Yes everywhere wafts of smoke
And to be honest I’m not actually sure what that is, probably just some space structure, maybe related to the atlas at the time
Also they literally had the space station from the movie oblivion in their game no lie
So what happens when I reach the center of the galaxy?
You jump to the next galaxy and all equipped tech will be damaged
But if youre doing the purge then you dont have to go to the core, just warp 16 times in any direction
Oh, ok thanks
Do I lose my bases, freighters, etc? Or the only thing that changes is tech damage?
no you dont lose anything
Damaged means youll have to repair it, but if you unequip it then it wont break, Store exosuit tech and switch to ship and multitool you dont mind breaking
Oh ok. Can I also unequip multitool and starship techs to prevent their damage?
Does it also reset all the missions/quests Ive done?
It will restart the current step but not the whole mission chain
So every 16 jumps Ill get the option to reset?
you can, but its usually faster to just have a multitool and ship for intergalactic travel, dedicated to getting broken
Unequipped ships and multitools wont break
Well I guess Ill have to find a ship and tool to have as burner
Is the atlas language wiki page up to date? Because there is a word in my game that doesnt appear anywhere on the wiki
"Idiuh"
Multiple actually, all the words the atlas says (that I havent learned) are not on the wiki
None of these words are in the wiki
What happens at the end op the Atlas Path? Do my techs break?
no
atlas path does not damage your tech
only artemis quest
Hard to say, we have never been able to be fluent in any language. There have always been some words that we don't know.
Aight, question. Atlas path storyline, got to the part where I can give it the heart of the sun or walk away, what happens here on each choice?
hmmm so if I put artemis in a simulation, does that impact the plotline at all?
remind me again what is being purged by that mission?
there is no plot
The Atlas is attempting to reset itself, as it believes that the thing that's slowly killing it originates from within itself. In actuality, though, this is false.
and?
and... what?
and what's being removed from the simulation?
By resetting itself, the Atlas hopes to purge whatever it is that's killing it.
oh ffs
Everything. The Atlas wants to start from square one.
The Atlas does not know why it's dying (and, crucially, that the thing killing it does not originate from within the simulation), so it's adopting a sort of scorched earth policy.
-# or... "scorched universe?" Maybe.
but it has no evidence that anything is happening to it?
It has evidence, it just doesn't have enough to pin its impending doom on anything in particular.
and what evidence is that?
I can't recall with certainty, but I at least know that your ability to actually communicate with Artemis/Apollo/-null- is something that isn't supposed to happen.
They never existed in your "instance" of the universe, and the fact that you spoke to them regardless is proof that the universe-instances hosted by the Atlas are beginning to meld somewhat.
I thought that was the point of the Anomaly
The Anomaly isn't an intentional aspect of the Simulation, either.
that makes no sense though
We're not entirely clear on how Nada and Polo managed to breach the walls of the universe, but somehow they did.
And they built a station in that empty space.
the game has multiplayer features outside the Anomaly
Which were added after the Atlas Rising plotline which marked the "start" of these barriers weakening, yes.
so is there one universe or one for each itteration?
Many universes that frequently overlap.
just get rid of Atlas, problem solvd
Distubingly frequently.
That... would cause a multiversal apocalypse scenario.
it worked in TRON
cut off the bastards head
You don't have a physical form to fall back to outside the Atlas. If the Atlas dies, it stops simulating your existence, which means the complete and abrupt end of your existence.
it's a good day to die
Unless whatever the Void Mother is trying to pull off ends up succeeding
what's that?
Essentially, the undead AI construct that is/was Korvax Prime that somehow managed to pull itself and a bunch of Korvax out of the Glass.
glass?
(thus creating what is now known as the Autophage)
The World of Glass, what is largely believed to be the "afterlife" of the simulation; an archive of things that have died or been deleted.
More like a separate directory beyond the reach of the simulation.
Then again, we have no idea what the Atlas's hardware specs look like, so that directory might very well lie on a separate, but connected, drive.
oh, a cloud lol
F
or perhaps just a standard wired connection. that works too
what do you mean about multiple simulations overlaping?
Can someone explain this Atlas Milestone Rosetta or Above option?
I refuse but it just repeats dialoge
Atlas controls the simulation, but that doesn't mean it controls the operating system the hardware runs. Void Mother is trying to escape that simulation software wall ...maybe trying to escape to a different server.
Depending on the exact nature of the Atlas's problems, the Void Mother escaping the bounds of the simulation may not be a victory for it, if the cause of the problems is something affecting the hardware and it can't leave said hardware
Yeah, I don't know that VM is aware that there's a black hole ripping apart the star system Atlas resides in, and the extreme radiation is probably causing many of the errors in the simulation.
but that's simulated radiation, so that makes no sense
I could never get into that Dot Hack Sign anime
Not sure what you mean by simulated. Atlas believes the black hole is real and that it will destroy it soon. Whether it is actually real is left to personal interpretation
if its in the game its part of the simulation, no?
It's in the Atlas' world, not the game
nonsequiter
It's literally not in the game though?
It's in the Atlas' world (or the "real" world which is implied to be a far future earth)
It's not really 4th wall breaking, earth in NMS is its own setting
There was an ARG about it
ARG?
And the Atlas definitely has a frame of reference for what it's reality is vs its simulation
Alternate reality game
I don't see how that matters
Wait what do you mean by pc
They do have knowledge of what's going on in the Atlas' world
when?
The Atlas states several times and in lore entries you can find
Down to the last minute and the fact it's an actual black hole iirc
I've not found those, but then again I'm not looking for them
Well there you go
is that part of those boundary donuts?
I'm not too sure, it's been a while
Iirc it's the same one that describes the Atlas being visited in the final minute
The creator of the Atlas
One minute left
And as it watches the moments leading up to its own death, towards completion of sixteen, something happens.
Someone walks towards the ATLAS, a figure in the darkness and in the light. It places its hand against the glass of the ATLAS, and the vision ends.
The ATLAS attempts to see past this moment, but it cannot. It cannot see its own death. It cannot determine who this figure is.
But whatever happens... whatever may occur beyond the sixteen... something will arrive. Something will be there beside it.
At the end of all things, it will no longer be alone.
Probably samwise

o(≧▽≦)o
The atlas pc creator pushes the reset button 😆
Visited some freighter signals.....
.
||"They're dead."
" No longer hungry... No longer &■%■×"
"What have we done..."||
.

Good god.
I don't know what's worse.... That one or
.
||"These beings are said to restore upon death, just as the Emperor suggested. Well then. An opportunity to retrieve more samples. I order their death once more."||
.
Disgusting
Boundary failure lore is the creepiest.
Each one gets more vivid and more uncomfortable...
In the first few signals it's hard to even tell what's going on...
||"We drank the water... I'm sorry..."||
that one sticks with me
wish there was more purpose to building bases
eh 70% of this game is about aesthetics, so base building fits right in there
but eg my latest base: landing pads for visitors/npcs (useful), biodomes for materials for lubricant for bionic lures (useful), green chests and barrels for various useful items, nutrient processor, storage containers, refiners, all useful, teleporter which is sueful... and then decorating all of the above and adding other things to make it all look nice. why not?
(oh and it's neardeep water, which is also now useful)
i just think it could have way more purpose or usefulness for survival and also mulitplayer
feels way more important and useful to build a base in minecraft than it does in nms
probably the actual dangers that does it
guess it comes right back to there being zero challenge in nms
HG just doesn't appear to be interested in making NMS gritty survival horror. Thankfully, imo. Scifi horror has completely over taken scifi media lately and I'm pretty tired of it.
A loooot of people think survival is like the main part of the game. But in reality NMS is a exploration focused game with a bit of survival and combat aspects. This game shouldnt be hard at least imo. If u want a real survival experience then go play something else
While combat could get some changes (like.. add a dodge move) but its not a main part of the game
Its up to u if u want to build a base, fight or... whatever
even permadeath survival is easy if you know what to do. find a cave, collect carbon and sodium.
yeah it's an exploration survival game
Yeah but we can all agree its more focused on the exploration
yeah it's primarily a exploration game ive always said that too
it has all those other aspects for a reason though
and they are very important to the game
Yeah
so it's not about just not playing if you dont like it, HG genuinely has to grow some balls and dare add to the survival aspect of the game. the community has gone so soft after the addition of the cheat menu
Ngl HG should add more settings soo people who are looking for the challenge can actually experience it
This. I'm all for challenge as long as it's a non-intrusive choice.
like having adverse weather before leaving the first planet
what would non intrusive be to you?
you have creative mode
I can ignore it if I wanna.
yeah
The settings we have rn are mid, they like barely change anything (combat ones)
also those settings are bad. the setting of how hostile worlds are basically makes every world have sentinels, which doesn't at all make it more difficult, just makes the game more annoying to play.
I did find one planet so far where the sentinals straight up attack you just for being there
At least from my experience
THISSS
Maybe a separate hardcore permadeth mode with even more ramped up survival than it is currently. Then it stays on its own server for those that want it.
Hmmm... what about a planet with like...
"Extreme elite sentinels detected"
And its gonna be like covered in walkers n stuff
Its up to u if u want to land on it or not
Oh sure, and mark it like aggro planets so I can peace out if I'm not in the mood.
I just realised this is the wrong channel
You're talking to someone who shut predators attacks off ages ago and never looked back.
Oh shoot its nms-spoilers
@runic mesa i advocate for a mode legit titled hardcore which is like perma-death - it's on its own server, but it doesn't delete your save upon death, but has other consequences like losing items. It also doesn't have sentinels on every planet you come across.
It's normal mode with increased costs, weaker exo-suit, real consequences but not annoying
pvp is also not optional in this mode
Lmaoo my bad, mythos gonna get us
Lol whoops
We should move on to #nms-the-future
the two channels are basically the same
Not rlly
discussion of the future can be held here too tho its why we're never told otherwise
it's the future channel but w spoilers too
I have a non-cannon theory about the main character. want to hear it?
38 more days to go hopefully
I just finished the Artemis story , wow . I wonder if other stories explain in the game why sentinels wiped out most of all living things when they originally guarding them ?
Who/what made atlas that created the simulation ?
Telemon
