To be fair, with how volatile Proc Gen can be depending on your asset pool size, it's cool that HG found neat tricks like the Prime Planets and these Purple Systems to avoid those haha.

I doubt we'd ever get a universe reset (as in actual star systems being moved), but the way they've implemented these purple systems kinda makes me worried since there isn't really a good way to repeat the process if they want to add another. Could definitely change how it works before release to be scalable though.

Yea the issue is, currently the game only takes a purpleSystemStart and purpleSystemCount value, which could set a safe system number for HG to start generating the systems. There isn't a failsafe way for them to know the upper limit of each region's final active star from what I believe, unless they run some tests and figure out a good ceiling range of values to set the next batch of new systems to start generating from.

My biggest wonder is: if they do indeed add purple systems, how will they be different? All dissonant planets, but with exclusive biomes? New generation for those planets? Since we have a good estimate of only about the first 600 being active (out of 4095) HG could set that as the start index which would lock purple systems to only replacing those unused phantom stars.

Hell they could even implement something to check each galatic region's last active star index, and make sure purple systems only start spawning after that check per region

Technically it might make them more common than normal stars. Out of a total 4095 possible stars, only 400-600 are active at a time. The remaining ones are all phantom stars

Generally with updates like that, the expedition date isn't pushed for a few days after the patch drops (from what I've noticed over the past few occurances of this)

Early date uploads usually mean an expedition needs to be ready-to-go as soon as the patch releases, as that's generally the main content in the patch, which happened for Adrift this time around too.
