My best guess is that it pertains more to the next update or two than this current one. Sort of like how every war is just a rehearsal for the next one.

Players need some level of forced difficulty to push themsleves to participate in the game, removing all of it removes the drive to work towards things if you can just give yourself all of it at the push of a button without any drawback. Most players aren't gonna choose to handicap themselves if the option exists in normal play
creative mode existed seperately from normal for a reason, brushing that aside isnt going to help anyone

tech slots max at 60
and you know what ruining the entire games balancing across every single mode. whatever, but they couldnt be bothered to give us the option to allow us to put our tech in inventory or let us use more than 3 tech slots along side that.
Its like hitting someone in the gravitino balls with a sack of nickels, you just got hit in the nuts but hey atleast you got like 10 dollars worth of change, still doesnt change the fact your not having kids anymore

basically telling everyone "creative mode or handicap yourself lol" is not good for game progression if players wanting to play normally have to do a personal challenge run instead of actually being locked into a difficulty like a game, it removes any drive when you know you yourself is making it intentionally harder on yourself and being able to go full creative at any time instead of just maintaining difficulty
thats why doing the difficulty settings like they did is a horrible idea

If there's anything I've learned from previous updates anyway, there's always a small number of people who think their way is the only way to play, and hate other people having fun the wrong way.

And you already had an everything is free button called opening a creative save, as well as duping ,save editing. Again, if you wanted to just unlock everything there were already tons of ways. One more, really won't change a thing aside from semantics.

Another positive thing I found with this new update. I have this very ooold save where freighter had limited amount of slots (prior outlaw freighter). Now I can keep it and just extend slots

i'm back to my old-fashioned gathering of oxygen from plants scanned, and then extract ferrite with mining beam to scan drop pods via exocraft to fill up exosuit tech slots after realizing that these three aren't available on galactric trade terminals.
It seems to me like modded material that is speculative to future updates belongs in the future channel or the mod channel. I would not be able to learn anything about that without changing the base game and there's no guarantee that those items will make it into or return to the game. That said, if you're fine with it being in this channel, then it is what it is.
Either way, I have since identified the upgrades that have been added to the base game and how to obtain them.
Higher difficulties remove those from the galactic market.

The one thing I'm slightly missing from these patch notes is the 'cohesiveness' of some features and changed tutorial stuff, but maybe a I misread what they meant with that.

oh; so the complaint stems from people who divided up technology between storage and tech slots? I guess that would let you go over what would normally be overloaded? I guess this doesn't impact me too much because I mostly kept everything in tech slots anyway and didn't go overboard with tech

People don't seem to realize it's a gameplay balance thing and other aspects of upgrade modules have seen a buff along with the new cap

I don't see a scrolling option for tech. I'm playing on the Steam Deck, I don't have mouse with scroll. When I put cursor over cargo, I see a scroll bar pop up with Dpad icons up-down for scrolling. When I hover on tech, no scroll bar apprears. Will try touch screen if that work

now that I managed to see what's up with the UI issues, I'm actually quite okay with this, and I started talking here how I was not liking the look of it

Personally, in my own opinion, this update feels like several things weren't completely thought through. The UI changes have several issues and feel really clunky, the update's difficulty settings break alot of what the gameplay loop of nms is which is making money and collecting resources in all game modes, and it sorta shatters any sense of balance when other settings are locked behind the chosen difficulty like permadeath and survival but not creative mode settings

rofl perma death play through is over cause I went into a cave (its huge) and then a gas plant killed my protection now if I go out (where the ferite to repair it is) I die super fast to the heat XD
they have increased the possible values on many movement modules....
i do think that the tech limits should be raised, if the difficulty settings let us activate godmode at any time i cant see why they wouldnt let us have as much tech as we want.
balance has gone out the window when they functionally got rid of a unified difficulty within the game modes, i just dont see it being a good enough reason not to
guys with current cap or 3 modules we cant even fill all those 60 slots

we can change our inventory stack size, why not let us change whether tech is installed in inventory slots or not
i think thats a fair compromise if we are keeping the ability to do /gamemode C at any time in normal gamemode

I understand small bugs for obscure features, but how could they miss all the issues with ships and the ui. tech slots not really making sense with current limitations (not just inv tech i mean not being even able to fill all the tech slots with the new cap because of the 3 tech limit), the jankyness and clunk of the ui, etc etc
Check for ammonia, which can be present in caves, that refines to ferrite dust. 🙂

Yeah, there is a lot of good stuff in the patch notes tbh. Not just the stuff with pictures either. Lots of small new features, missions changes, new UI elements, crafting, recipes, lore menu etc.

also this is more of an actual meaningless opinion thing, but am i the only one that doesnt like the new red color scheme for the UI
guess this is just part of experiencing an update. Going to stay in the shadows for awhile for things to cool down
its petty but i would have liked color options for the ui honestly especially for the old color scheme

its just this one basically massively changed a ton of systems and for quite a few people (myself included) it wasn't for the better
this is probably the first update ive seen where a large amount of players have considered it a negative change, outside of the on the ground pirate attacks being way too common in outlaws which was a bug that got fixed

no its really not, ive actually checked several other communities including the NMS Galactic hub which is a very large group of players, and some of the creative hub are not happy with the changes
I understand. Im not fond of the changes either. Looking at the numbers the way they were previously this seems like a huge nerf. But they promised the ability to upgrade a "level up" more. This makes me think things besides just slots was changed. I'm going to play the game and try to find out what that is and enjoy it. If they made a mistake I'll enjoy it when they fix it 2
i understand disagreeing with others opinions and liking the changes but downplaying the amount of people disatisfied with the changes is not the right way either

im not going "oh only a few people like this update" im saying a decent sized amount of people consider the update to have negatively changed parts of the game, which isnt making it more valid, its just that the opinion does infact exist in more than a small group

I think the main summation of my opinions about this update is that it needed more time to refine the UI and some other features within
the changes especially to ships should have been togglable via the difficulty settings especially with how indepth and game breaking they already are. If we can become invincible and make everything free including crafting, i feel we should have arbitrary limits like this also togglable

again quantifying opinions to try to make them seem invalid is wrong,
just so everyone knows..... when I fell into a cave 5 mins in of a perma death run and my exo protection broke from a gas plant fart I did make my way out...... with the mushrooms in the cave for carbon I made my analysis visor and then my terrain manipulator..... then made a hole just enough to poke my head out and mine some ferrite =P. The 4.0 first permadeath game LIVES!
The same question stands for expedition tech like Singularity Engine or Frameshift Catapult

It's largely irrelevant anyway, recent review scores only require a handful of people to tank the score when a game is only receiving <50 reviews a week

A lot of my tech module have been repackaged. I'm currently buying more exosuit tech slots. I really have to get used to the new exosuit inventory system but I can live with it. Honestly I'm not too mad about it lol slap me

with 3 hyper drive modules i am at almost 1k jump range and thats with 1 of them having no added range... and as i previously stated they increased the values for possible stat rolls on many movement based modules....

im saying those of you who had 6 mods stacked had them removed but their values stay the same that had rolled on them but the new modules you acquire can roll higher values now so you may not even need 6 to reach or even possible surpass previous limits...

rip, frigate expeditions don't stop you from collecting the rewards if your freighter inventory is full now
some of my constructed upgrades got packaged
meaning.... in theory... a photonix package could exist
there are alot of good things in this update that arent really brought up, the crafting tree setup and the packaging system are fantastic additions
but this update drops the ball so hard in the worst possible places that I can't consider it a good update, its not even breaking even its just bad.

the UI, the Ship changes, Difficulty settings breaking any sense of game balance, etc. it feels poorly thought out and implemented without the level of care that is usually expected of changes like this

none but you were given inventory packages with your tech upgrades that have the same rolls. you can also convert your upgrades in the tech inventory into those packages and move them to another ship if you want
basically you can only have 3 upgrades of a single type now but you still have your old upgrades so you can replace any less than ideal parts with the better pieces
correct, you just can't put all of the parts on the same ship

ok so the gas plant breaking my basic hazard protection and then it respawning me in a field on a frozen planet telling me to recharge my hazard protection with sodium when its broken and I cant and i have no ferrite dust is spinning wildly out of control.... before today in the past month I've died once on perma death and survival and in the last 5 mins i've died like 4 times because there is literally nothing I can do
if they want to break our tech... ok... but please leave the base stuff alone so we have a chance

I'm a bit annoyed at having to basically rebuild my inventory to slot in upgrades again. 
Ok. So this update is really unstable on the PS5 graphics wise. ( At least for me ) substantial frame rate drops when in inventory menu. Stuttering screen when turning in space while cruising around in spaceship.
Screen tearing when lots of movement is going on. it was running so smooth before this update too. Going to report this. I just wanted to see if anyone else is having small problems like this?

There's a controversy involving the fact that you can only install tech in the tech slots, so the limit on procedural modules is effectively halved.
How much can frigate storage be upgraded past the previous point? Is it 120 for everything now?! And is that for each ship or each ship and frigate and exocraft?

So I may have found a "Slight" ray of hope in this update as far as tech goes.
You can duplicate stored technology using refiner duplication. Meaning if you get 1 mod with God tier stats, you can dupe it and have 3 with God tier stats installed. While this doesn't make your ship or your character as strong as before, it can help soften the blow. ( For those who don't mind duping )

looks like the freighter cargo inventory is still there but you can't access it. i got some frigate expedition rewards that seemed to disappear but i can still see them in a trade terminal
you can still get the items back by using the transfer items function

saw some people in the steam reviews complaining that we didn't need more storage; as someone who likes to collect tons of stuff and horde very badly (only in video games, not real life lol), I'm a huge fan of the new storage; i.e, I like to keep procedural fossils if they're over a certain age (like the really absurd ones in the millions of years)
I was pretty deep into minmaxing, got maxed out X-class mods which I spend a good number of hours on etc
Saw my main ship go from 77k+ dps to 26k now
still not very bothered, apart from expanding inventories again is kinda tedious I guess
I get why people are upset, but I also don't know why they went through so much effort to min max; I never did that stuff and the game was still SUPER easy and I'd basically one shot everything lol
yeah same, getting every stat cut by at least 50% and the game is still easy mode with extra gravy

if you're at 30 tech slots then there's a hotfix coming for that

I just realized there is no need for a "main ship" any longer. I can carry everything I need for exploration in my exosuit, and now i can finally just roam around in any ship I want. Thats kinda nice!

I like the new update. Tech in tech, makes sense and makes it a tad more challenging picking which ups to get. I found what i can only describe as a brachiosaur yesterday, instantly adopted. Its huge 😂

They've very deliberately made vital survival items more scarce at trade terminals in Survival/Permadeath. You'll have to harvest them yourself.
Trouble is oxygen wasn't used for stuff like that. It was used for making money through the rough beginning but i suppose that does make ot harder. Im working on finding difficulty setting to make the item difficulty what it used to be while making combat difficulty higher

It has never reset your character.

You may find a little difficulty after the reset, but it'll be fine. You'll even be able to return to Euclid, if you have any bases there. @static light

A) Your tech will be broken upon arrival. You will find difficulty until you fix it.
B) Since you refused, you technically will not be able to choose at the Final Interface again. You can still jump through the core to advance to the next galaxy, but you won't be able to decide where you go - you'll simply go to the next galaxy in sequence.

The mystery around The Abyss is not knowing what it is. The mystery disappears as soon as that's covered in a storyline.

As for meeting "it", I dunno. Dreams Of The Deep is probably the closest storyline we're getting to a main storyline for The Abyss.

The terrain messing with their bases is what I hear most often as the con.
For me (and I have 60 bases) that doesn't matter in the slightest, I would love a terrain regen with different parameters
I was mad at the update and first but I eventually got back to where I was with just 2 or 3 hours of gameplay so I am still happy.

All of your techs gets damaged, ship and multitool, i suggest getting a poop multitool and a poop ship.
it depends on how you travel. you can '"hitch a ride" with another player, or even go to a featured base at the Anomaly that's in another galaxy, and the only thingthat happens is you are in the new location 🙂

i have two saves, a normal with early story but late stuff, and a survival on early.

i just realized we caused the atlas to be all screwy. when meeting it for the last time we repeat 16. which causes it to break and stuff
I would contest. Uttering "16" is simply reminding the Atlas of its mortality, as that is the number of real-world minutes it has to live. Of course, the Atlas simulation runs so fast that to us, it may as well be an eternity.
The Atlas was always doomed, and always scrambling to fix itself. That's why it banished Telamon, why it let the sentinels go rogue.

you can use the Consumerism mod to get it
its in the game data as a quicksilver unlock I think

the Artemis storyline the part where you choose between let they die or putting them in the simulation, if you put them into the simulation, does them at some point be part of the storyline again or they just get forgotten?
the choice you make has no transcendental effect on your experience of the game after. there's a micro difference in dialogue right after your choice. but other than that, no. so it becomes more of a personal philosophical choice for the player

Hi, I am wondering I saw on YouTube that the nms ending is in the atlas station or near the atlas. And I yesterday just finished the Artemis quest and I have already been in the atlas station after I stepped in the portal to find Artemis. I for my last option there before I was teleported out I selected Scream. Was that the right thing to do. Or is there going to be another time when I enter a portal and be teleported to the atlas station. If you understand me pls explain it to as little spoilers as possible.
I will say that after many playthroughs where I could not bring myself to let Artemis die, on this one I gritted my teeth and said "I'm choosing the other option this time!" and felt bad about it all day 😄 😄

can confirm, traveling through the galactic core will damage every single item in your technology now, so pack away those hard to repair items before you go (i'm looking at you, Rememberance)

@white kelp if you enter on the galaxy core it will make you travel to another galaxy but will damage your techs in process, so, i recommend using a shitty ship and multitool.
Use portals to get to center. Takes less than ten warps. More like five.

ah you can go back to the previous galaxy, cool
if you have some organic ship it will die.... and some of your progress in euclid will get reset
Lemme give you a real answer: technology in your suit, active ship, and active multi-tool will break, you will emerge in the new galaxy. You will be able to return to Euclid through any bases you have there, and back to the new galaxy through any bases there. That's about it.

you can consider packaing up a pile of the tech in your suit (and/or ship, mt) to keep it from getting broken though, @final trellis

I want to be clear. The supercharger slots and the increased stat bonuses and the decreased chance of tech breakage with a full shield, they are fixing the game for me. I am very pleasantly surprised with them.

yea the boost works as intended it was something I did that made it show those stats
oh and the slots are chosen randomly and have random bonus from what I understand
its not a random bonus, its mathematical based on whatever initial amounts the upgrade had
No it makes it deal to much damage (all the stats you want to be negative are, well, very negative)

Yeah the boosted slots are great
+63% interplanetary speed (from 30%) on my sub light amplifier in a super charged slot. First buff to pulse jump in a while I think? Charged slots are great since we can now buff one of a kind tech like the optical drill too.
Are the supercharged slots highlighted somehow?

The three new capes they finally snuck into the latest experimental:
The worm cape is the next community reward. I'm guessing one of the other two will be in an expedition
The capes lack any physics in game right now, so they aren't quite ready to be put in the game
The jellyfish one looks cool, some nice transparency work
