I've not understood that part entirely, either
as I said, the world of glass is basically a recycle bin
and i agree, i personaly belive this is an example of one area where the ATLAS's story is factually true and it is not lying
where deleted things and entities go
ocne again like all versions of events the truth is somewhere in the middle however
there's a reason the atlas is disliked, yes
oh hm
however that is only believed Because it is verified with other sources and first hand with the glitches
so its not relying soley on his word
i think it's safe to believe the atlas is failing
it also leaves versions of events very ambiguous
it was abandoned but why?
yes its trying to "understand"
the true reason
but it leaves out the details of what led to that point
the story goes that it was abandoned because it became obsolete
"Oh, earth sucked and nuked itself so they left"
Yes what does that mean
Atlas claims that ,
its creators replicated its technology, and improved upon it
i was not aware of this
instead of shutting it down, the atlas' creator offered it the choice of either being left on, alone forever, or being shut down
the atlas chose to be left on, on the condition that it could scan its creator
may I ask where this is found out or revealed i never came across this info in game or outside game research when reading lore
remembrance terminals
I do remember something vaguely referencing that ATLAS scanned the creator's brain at one point, but under what circumstances and details were left out
but that is the extent of it
okay ill go back through in this save and wiki and try to fill some of that in
And It now uses that scan to generate the Travellers
That's why we're cleared to order it to reset the sim
Right I remember that part, that’s how it links the traveler and why the travelers considered a simulation of the creator and some regards via the brain scan.
I thought the details passed that we’re open to speculation I wasn’t aware there is more to that particular plot line but all cool new information to learn
However still maintain the atlas is a bias narrator but of course the snippets that come from non-atlas sources paint a wider picture of the truth
They do call it the scarlet liar
Hey, is there any other "digital journal" beside the monolyth entries by each race, the boundary failures and the new Sentinel pillars?
i wonder if any of the planetary or colossal archives count? those are typically race-speific
Those are the monolyths
Ah kk!
wait arent there already different ruin-like structures called "monoliths" i ngame?
But i assume the dialogue is the same?
Hello
@foggy jungle
Ye
Kk, so did you do 16 warps before you reached the center?
No
In Purge you dont need to reach the center
Oh
You have to warp 16 times to progress
Oh i did not know that
Ahhh, that's part of the purge....it will send you to an Atlas station after the 16th warp. So I would reload
Np
@latent ingot i got 1 more question
If im already on the last note can i just warp anywhere 16 times or should i go far away first?
You can just warp anywhere around where you were at
Aight cool thx
I was still 600k LY from center the last time I did Artemis Path for my Exp8 save
Ah i see
If you choose to reset, you'll have 4 options. Hmu if you aren't sure where you want to go
Wdym 4 options?
You'll get an option to not reset simulation and stay in Euclid. Or reset and move to a new galaxy
wait. so, i dont need to get to the centre of galaxy with quest with 16 warps?
Correct
They are all basically the same size afaik
like how many ly you need to travel to get to the centre
I'm in Sudzerbal atm and at
Yes
I just got the option
If i reset do i lose everything?
I can reset , refuse or ask for another way
You don't lose anything
If you refuse you just stay in Euclid. If you reset you get the options
Neither choice is good or bad. All up to your preferences
@latent ingot theres this red, green, dark blue and cyan balls
Are they different from one another?
Yes. Red is Harsh will send you to Galaxy #3, Calypso. A lot of extreme storms and activated minerals
Green is Lush and will send you to Galaxy 10 Eissentam. A LOT of lush/paradise planets there
Ah so it just pick a galaxy
I see i see
I already put a base on a lot of galaxy so i guess i can just pick random
Dark blue is an Empty galaxy, Budullangr #7 is the destination....a lot of the dead airless planets, so finding a good planet to settle can be harder
That would of been nice to know. 🙃
Ooo i never been here before
How bout the cyan?
The light is just a norm Euclid type Galaxy. Pretty sure it send you to Hilbert (#2) same as going through center
Budullangr isn't terrible. I have a save I split between there and Calypso
No probs. If you need a hand there just hmu
I already have a base on noomate so a good base planet is out of my problem rn
Okei thx
You can easily teleport to any base you have a base computer at regardless of the galaxy it is in. I go between them all the time
Ye ik
K, good
Will our character ever figure out what Telamon is? And that it's the voice of the exosuit?
So, just reset the simulation and notice that the planet I am on is around 8 billion years old, do you guys think I am in coma for the entire time or do my data was not injected into the galaxy while ATLAS is preparing it for me?
The coma seems to be able to explain why everything is broken from time tho
there's lore about this in the game. whether you come across that lore depends on what things you look at (not what choices you make in game, don't worry about that)
Are you referring to the boundary failures?
I think it's those that discuss it yeah
I know, they're written by Telamon
From what I remember, it was meant to keep an eye on the Atlas, though it was unable to speak its name. It went rampant and redundant, then it tricked Telamon and cut it out of the system. Now it's confined in our exosuit and can only talk when it notifies us with weather alerts and crafting. Yet now it can say "Atlas"
Ok so the Atlas contains multiple concious entities. It's interesting in waking titan there is a doc that says the scientists are becoming depressed because they found out they are also in a simulation.
I guess the fact the atlas was abandoned eventually, is strange, because I would have expected the scientists to feel more strongly about preserving it. Unless of course, the entire species had an existential meltdown and proceeded to dive into the sun.
Actually. I guess waking titan never actually says the real world is a simulation... just that the team working on the project is convinced they live in a simulation. Still, I wouldn't expect that to matter as much to them, but would make them feel more attached to the project.
What's Waking Titan?
Was so much fun too.
Loved it
I'd love another ARG, even if not WT and something entirely new.
I know it's not happening though. 😔
Probably not, but I wouldn't rule anything out completely with HG
We finished it 😭
So what was it exactly? An official community fanfiction or something?
Nah, it was an official story that ties in with NMS.
They had us working as a community to solve puzzles, some even required people to visit real places and complete things like escape rooms. Even had folk walk around Louvre in Paris.
In fact, Louvre wasn't a requirement but the community decided that the answer we was looking for was inside the Louvre so forced the guys to take a walk around.
They had a fun time tbh.
90% of the puzzles were community effort and all online, had to work out passwords to gain access to accounts, searching file systems and cryptocoin wallets.
Had a dude that used to be here (might still be) win $50 worth of ETH coin.
What was the plot?
How the atlas came to be
Well, how did it come to be?
Someone made it. I think there is a link above that describes it very well
This one
Anyway, one of the Sentinels messages had me have a funny thought. They say there used to be plenty more of civilizations in the sim, but every time the Atlas resets it there's one less, so now we only have Gek, Korvax and Vy'keen.
Can you imagine when there were other civilizations? What if there were even species from iconic franchises, like the yautjas and ET's species? xD
The vy’keen more or less fill the role of the former
OMG imagine an ARG where we rescue Ariadne and Artemis, for real this time! 😍😍😍😍
Lol I was just thinking about Yautja/Predators in NMS. Very unlikely but an awesome cross-over idea 👍
I guess the Vy'keen and the biological horrors already serve as references to Predator and Alien
What if the Independence Day aliens would get into the NMS universe?
I think the same. Biological horrors are basically discount Xenomorphs.
They're children of a xenomorph and the noglin from ARK Genesis 2
New mode: interrupt the harvesters from mining planet cores before the planets are gone.
"I'm the one who grinds stuff with a laser, suckers!"
New headcanon idea: Biological horrors are the result of Xenomorphs infecting a certain species of green creatures who have scorpion tails (maybe the noglin).
Haha
The Sentinels would be so pissed at the harvesters.
SynthGek interaction.
Do what feels good
What's the deal with the Space Anomaly, exactly? Nada and Polo designed it to be in every parallel galaxy of the simulation at the same time and survive the various resets?
What drove a divergent Korvax and a Gek engineer to build a hub for Travellers?
I think that it was made for travellers hiding from Atlas and its sentinels for various reasons. That it's supposed to be a save hiding place for the travellers.
But it's long time I have played the main story.
I stumbled on the Outlaws quest chain on my main save last night. Saw the floating solar sail ship and thought "oh cool sail ship for free", then read about the quest and discover the end reward is just a cape. Sean pls.
Yo I've never ran into a synthgek before! didn't even know that was possible 😁
Same
kind of weird that when there are things like warp drives there are things that run on coal pretty much
i met a korvax creature on space station saying 01000001 01010100 01001100 01000001 01010011 what means ATLAS in binary code alphabet
does that mean anything?
What was the plot of the Emergence expedition?
What was happening with the planet infesting worms?
Read an interesting article on the experience of being sucked in to a black hole (allegedly the fate of the Atlas in the physical world).
"As time distorts near the event horizon of a black hole, the outside Universe would watch you descend towards it more and more slowly. In theory, from their perspective it would take an infinite amount of time for you to become a part of the black hole."
Looks like we have forever!!
Oh wait... no that's from the outside perspective. We're still screwed 💀
what happens if i follow the atlas path
You get to see black holes in the galactic map
...is that it?
Yes
and if i refuse?
You don't see black holes in the galactic map and you have to ask Polo for their coordinates
also, you won't have the blueprints to make the item at the end of the main storyline, if you want to build that tech item ever
If you wanna see black holes yourself, you should start doing Atlas path.
I got a haunted Derelict freighter. Generated with slime everywhere, but there were no hostile aliens. There was just hostile security system (sentries and hostile drones). The story of it was creepy - a crew which for fun thrown out of airlock some priest. Then everybody started hearing a voice which eventually caused them to jump into space and kill themselves. So it sounds that the priest avenged himself...sort of.
But in the last room I have found an only hostile alien - green jellyfish. While I have instantly shot it down, as they are dangerous now I wonder, was this creature cause of the voice? Or was it just some escaped experiment which had nothing common with crew going crazy?
What's the end of The Purge?
Did you do the atlas questline yet?
Yes
Your current mission is the purge?
Yes
The choices are really up to you, and you just need to jump 16 times.
Id equip a junker ship and multiool for the last bit
I found a place where I need those things the atlas gives me
And why do I need bad ones?
The wiki is pretty thorough
https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/The_Purge
Wdym?
^
They will get damaged, so that way you dont need to repair your good equipment
Ooh
If you can put all your modules in the tech tab they'll be safe, but you prob dont have room and that doesn't help the multitool
Done
Nice, congrats
any leaks?
Aside of the "lorem ipsum" and some other GUI ones... Probably not. 🤔
Is anyone on?
So I am at the point where I have Artemis in the Arc Soul and I am torn what to do and just needed to talk it out a bit with someone or some people.
I know that Artemis likes to explore and make friends and putting them in the simulation feels like condemning them to something they wouldnt want. But letting them go seems wrong as well. I have run into this issue with all the travelers that I run into that lead me to graves. Like is there anything that can be done for them. This situation though feels different then the others though because of how it all came about. That other being did warn me though. Thing is what happened to Artemis cant be undone all there is is from that point forward. I mean if I put them in the simulation and eventually tell them the truth about things they could choose their fate instead of me forcing my choice on them. And we put Artemis Soul into that machine what to say we couldnt put it eventually in a robot that would then not let them be confined in that simulation. Heck we could upload them into our exosuit some how and let them live vicariously with us. I try to think of how they lived before and what they wanted but they were already dead but up to then it was like they wanted help. Is finding them enough to let them rest in peace not stuck on that glitch planet or should I not give up on them in hopes that whatever life I can find them is enough for them. This sorta reminds me of Dr. Who with Riversong... 😦 I am so torn.
Put him into the sim and tell him the truth
He's just fine with it
He wanted exploration? You gave him a galaxy to explore as thoroughly as he likes. He wanted to meet other Travelers? Now everyone on the Anomaly can go into that room and pay him a visit through the computer at any moment
I wish we could use the computer
I'm one jump away on the last Artemis mission, I know it's going to do some sort of reset/new galaxy thing, what happens to all my stuff? Bases, cargo, freighter etc?
All safe
IIRC you just travel to a new galaxy
it does batter your multitool and your ship
grab your cheapest multitool and move all your good tech into your tech slots
also grab some terrible c class ship for the trip
"just" travel to a new galaxy 😆 I've not done that before hence being nervous (I've gathered nice things)
Any recommendations for what galaxy to go to? How do you swap between them later?
you can just teleport to your old base
but my personal recomendation is to get a freighter base
first
I have a really nice freighter, I haven't had the modules to unlock things for it yet thou
your first modules should be teleporter and storage
they are the most helpful ones by far
then grab refinery and trade
I have the teleporter thing (unless you mean the one that lets you move stuff from anywhere)
I would like to put the storage rooms on a different level but I haven't got any stairs yet
just place them as soon as possible
and your first upgrade should be the matter beam
your freighter becomes a flying storage unit that you can acess from anywhere
and you can even acess your storage containers
I'm going to spend some time doing derelict freighters to get some modules, matter beam is first on list, followed by stairs 😆
ok so im doing the story right, and theres always the quest option to talk to nada about the stuff i find out
if i dont say anything to them does it affect anything?
No, but you'll miss out on small rewards of Quicksilver.
So do it.
is the purge the final mission in the main story
Yes
huh now what
Have you done the atlas path?
yep
Some in game hypothesises about how the Korvax came to exist. The Korvax don't know their origins and history either.
I lean towards the first hypothesis.
Damn, if only all this world-building wasn't so scattered around
Hypothesis 3 seems more in line with the story
I want to see cities but on the other hand if cities would exist Sentinels would commit genocide, once again.
That the Korvax didn't envolve but just appeared out of thin air, like the Travellers?
Hmmm. Seems plausible, however, even within the Atlas simulation changes and evolution takes place, the fall of the First Spawn being an example of this (although it being an artificial evolution), so that the Korvax were once different, such as organic, seems also very possible to me.
This one
On a side note, what if hypothesis 3 is true for our universe? 👀
Oh crap it's all the same post, that didn't work
You mean the last picture?
Yep!
That's the one that seems most accurate to me given what we know about the recreation process.
Well, we'll never know (or maybe we will).
The Sentinels also appeared out of thin air.
Or at least it has never been specified how they gained "flesh".
But that's hypothesis 2
I could see that as well. My main reason for being drawn to hypothesis 3 is that we know the atlas is, in its own unique way, having an existential crisis
And is also dying. It creates because it's crying out in pain and that's all it knows how to do
What I find interesting is how much to atlas leaves to experience versus just displaying the calculated result
Also how evolution is possible
Yep. Perhaps the evolution and the wars... and everything else we find... is just a cool story the atlas tells to fill in the blanks. Or it's simply a variable... a seed used in the RNG
But I'm pretty steadfast that the existential crisis is unnecessary. If software created a councious entity, then it's still concious regardless of its parts. There is nothing that can take away from its experience. In fact, to me, it just confirms that conciousness is an abstract natural property of the universe when enough information/sharing and complexity is introduced.
The traveller is just as real as its creator. Just maybe the Korvax and Gek wars were not so much.
I still don't get what happened to the crew whose logs we read in the Abyss quest. All I remember is the frustration of crossing half an ocean from a terminal to the next with the nautilus for too many times
I think that we don't find it out. That they just disappeared. Maybe the sunken abandoned buildings eventually give answers, like the ones in case of the ones outside of the water.
@wintry roost
But right now we have zero evidence if the Sentinels were created by anything in particular
All we know is that they exist and are beyond ancient
Your point is?
There was a precursor race that invented the Atlas and presumably the sentinels as well, if this is the case, that race would either be the Aerons or be the ones who created them before the Aerons became the sentinels, and I would like to see that aspect of the story fleshed out
That was my point all along
there isn't really any proof that the aerons were a race
How so?
If aeron=sentinel and in either case they are machines, they had to be created by someone
Pretty sure this "precursor race" wasn't even inside the universe
From what I remember, the creator of the Atlas existed in the real world
yeah, but people don't just name their robots after their own race
Yes but the atlas also existed in the "real world"
Aerons were always Sentinels
Sentinels were always Aerons
It's just like if I got my name changed from Terrabytez to Bob
Same entity
One of the points that the boundary failure lore is trying to make is that the universe above is just part of a greater simulation with a greater version of the atlas
Different name
So if it existed on any level it existed on every level
Our Atlas does not exist on every level
Right because "The Atlas" is the name of the program that runs the simulation in that universe, presuming that the universe above it is also a simulation it would also be run by a program that wouldn't necessarily be exactly the same or called "The Atlas" but would function the same nonetheless
If the Atlas' creators' universe is simulated, that changes nothing for the universe that the Atlas simulates
Might I just say I know this started as like an argument but it's really nice to talk to someone who also is this fascinated by the intricacies of the lore
As above so below
If you create a simulation and something happens to you or someone you know fucks with it, that would absolutely mess with that simulation
Whether it's in "this world" or "that world" is irrelevant because it's all the same world, just different levels
the sentinels are creations of the Atlas
maybe so
in Waking Titan it was communicated to us by the AI Emily that what we see of NMS was she/it "dreaming". So there is conceivably a level of the programming above the NMS simulation that operates on a wholly different level
Whoever created the atlas created the Aerons which became corrupted by the atlas and became the sentinels
This is my favorite thing to talk about in this whole game
Sentinel Pillar lore implies that the atlas was the one to give bodies to the Sentinels
Which used to be the Aerons before the Atlas corrupted them
Now they don't even know that they used to be the Aerons
as far as I know, they're a sub-routine of the atlas
they seem to be different from Telamon as well, which appears to be its own computer made to monitor the atlas
I always saw Sentinels as the universal police force of the Atlas
they are
They exist to preserve creation
or, were
They have a habit of going rogue though
they seem to have gained their own motives, separate from the atlas
Could be like Ultron, where he takes his programming to the extreme in Age of Ultron (forcing life to evolve)
Or could be due to corruption from the Abyss
I do think there's some merit to "the Atlas is allowing the Abyss to corrupt the simulation to see if it can actually find some escape from the final 16"
yes
much like all deleted things, the first Korvax Convergence survives in the World of Glass
what's interesting is that a boundary failure log mentions earlier forms of the Atlas
I would posit that the Abyss is a manifestation of the code and memory corruption inherent in the looming black hole event. It's pattern matching like when we see a shape and our brain turns it into something it's not. Machine learning algorithms kind of do the same thing. I think the Atlas is trying to find a reason for the growing corruption in its systems and has imagined the Abyss to try to explain it
There really needs to be some lore database that has all the dialogue in the game recorded somewhere
Wiki should have all of them
I saw some datamines that seems like they're trying to add a way to keep all of the lore you've read in the game
Hey, I remember a settler of a Vy'keen settlement that got crazy and told everyone not to drink any water
So is every animal and alien in the sim infected by nanites and unwittingly influenced by the Abyss?
Interesting discussion you guys were having here 🙂
more or less
maybe not those lifeforms on planets with no water, but who knows
What kind of effect do those Sentinel nanites have on people? Or should I say, NPC iterations
btw what are the anomaly's?
The things you can summon in space. They look like a giant ball with a beam
I mean the character in character customization thing
Yeah, about that: I'm aware that thousands of people before me asked this question, but do you think the anomaly species is Homo sapiens? I mean, come on, we're astronauts. If we truly are a representation of the Atlas' maker... are his makers humans?
depends on if you consider Waking Titan to be canon, I suppose
If it is, is the answer yes?
yeah
Hey, look at this! It sounds neat! Although the NMS fauna still looks quite poor even after all these years xD
Using the Radiant Pillar for the footage is a neat touch, lol
Either the First Spawn are lucky the Korvax didn't do worse to them or that conversion process was way more unpleasant than we thought.
Anomalies are homo -kzzzt-
I have always considered anomalies to be Travellers with fancy space helmets. I like to imagine my Traveller character has always been the same but that at the start their head was covered by a helmet and that they are wearing some kind of "holographic helmet" now.
I hope people understand that I'm not making fun of gay people. I can't help the nomer for species of human is "homo" 😬
Then they should understand there's a difference between the Latin word for "man" and the prefix for "same"
to get to other galaxies after Eissentam, do i repeat the Atlas path mission in each galaxy?
No, you just have to go to the core of every galaxy until you get to the one you want
I cant get to Eissan because my artemis quest is bugged
wut
Well
If you wanna to go Eissentam, fastest way is through the StarCab. @twin dome

This one @twin dome
Question: Will my progress be whiped if I finish the main story? Just yes, no or It's possible pls, no details.
no
ok thx
No. Apparently (even before I played NMS) it used to be like that. When resetting the Atlas all your previous bases were getting deleted but after a lot of complaints about it it's been changed so you will keep your previous bases when you reset.
well, I finished it
10/10, pretty good story, especially since I expected it to be some 6/10 tutorial for basic stuff, instead it gave me existential dread and quenched my thirst for cosmic horror for the next half a year
This! I didn't expect such a good story, tho I was already familiar with simulation theory so that didn't really come as a shock to me.
omg why spoil imsomad
If you don't want spoilers stay out of the spoilers channel lol
just joking
the ending and stuff were pretty good, it was kinda boring mid game
cross-save under development "leaked" by Amazons Canadian site
@knotty mountain @rotund notch @charred shale @hybrid pendant
Just tagging some of the few people I recall waiting for cross-save functionality
you might find this interesting
Also previously speculated Frontiers update/settlements not being included in switch version at launch confirmed
Interesting! Thanks for sharing this @mental socket ! 😁
I hope the Mac and iPad version will get multiplayer and cross-save and cross-play too.
First Spawn was fucked.
^^^This post is not paret of my reply above.
I see no reason for them to not include them, given that the versions of iPads the game is being ported on are far more powerful than the switch
Yes

Very interesting indeed, do you think it is possible that this was a misunderstanding by the individual who wrote the bullet points thinking that the game already has cross save and that it would be added to switch later?
Yeah probably meant cross-play

The ps5 version in its description also doesn’t say frontiers… so people of course just looking a little to into it
Anyways. I'm hyped for iPad version.
I wish, I do believe at some point hg will work on integrating a cross save system but I definitely don't believe it will be any time remotely soon, so I guess it's not wrong, there probably will be cross save at some point, but probably not in the next couple years or so lol
Cross save would just require soooo much work to be added to the game and I doubt they've even begun setting the framework for that yet
Maybe it's been planned?
For atlas path, green orb is lush galaxy right?
Knew it lol. Wouldnt make sense not to have it
Hopefully it happens!
Yep
you dont lose anything
you just gain a cool upgrade blueprint
But what path does what
star seed I think
do nothing does nothing
wow who would've thought
and create a new star does a cool lightshow and gives you a cool upgrade blueprint
So nothing happens to my stuff, systems, or empire
the main questline is the one where you can "crate" a new galaxy
you dont lose anything
Bet
Do whatever you want
That's the end of the quest line. You're being told to engage with the sandbox however you see fit.
Is there any way to get rid of the tracker in my log?
That's kind of the quest you select to remove trackers for any other quest
could be, but they could also surprise us with cross-play in 4.0. I don't necessarily think it's a high priority for HG, but they want sales, and they would get more sales if people could double dip on another platform(s) without having to start a new save and throw away all their time investment
This is slightly untrue as that will break every piece of technology you own, unless they are in designated tech slots. Multitool is also broken.
oh yeah that
Completely forgot about that mechanic on my new main save and I'm still in the process of repairing my stuff
why do people choose NOT to put artemis into the simulation
what's the benefit in leaving him to die
I think Mitesse meant, what is the benefit to Artemis. I think perhaps people who choose not to use the simulation felt that being alone in a poor imitation of reality, with only scripted NPCs to interact with for an unknown and possibly very long amount of time, would be a fate worse than death.
what does resetting the simulation do
i lose everything i own right
and how do i get to the middle of the galaxy
You won't lose anything
If you follow the mission for it, it'll direct you toward the galaxy. If you open your galaxy map and select "galactic core" it'll draw a line connecting the systems that you have to jump to get to the core.
Hello, is there a place where I can find all the conversation with -null- and Apollo?
I'm looking for a specific quote.
Maybe try the assistant app for NMS? Will post link below. They have a Discord too where you may inquire since they datamine quite a bit of content.
!MobileAppLink
I mean, it's an argument of philosophy. The simulation you put Artemis in is described as kind of hollow. It's the choice between letting them continue to live a shell of their former life (which arguably is already fairly hollow), effectively damming them to purgatory. Or laying them to rest.
Personally, I've run through the artemis path so many times over the years and I've yet to put artemis in the simulation.
The problem is that ultimately whether being in the simulation or not will be good for Artemis is really up to Artemis. And they were given no choice in the matter. HG gives them zero agency. We are deciding their fate for them unilaterally
@pulsar grove I've put him in the simulation. Sometimes i visit him. He is now my little pet and i am his god.
@bitter nymph Wait, we can revisit him if we want to?
@outer bobcat no, im just pretending i do. The simulation is in the nexus and i send a message form time to time
I like to imagine the messages we send to Artemis within their simulation is the random kzzzt static that we hear.
Doesn't Artemis die anyway because of ||The Purge||
Guess it depends on whether or not you reset the simulation
Yes, that's kind of the point?
That's not a narrative flaw, it's not necessarily a moral decision either way you look at it.
and that's something that runs through most of the game's decisions
Cant believe some of you reconstructed a dead entity's mind and then imprisoned it in a smaller sim
Meanies
Btw, we are Artemis
and Null
And Apollo
Different iterations, same program
Talking to yourself the whole time
I don't know what that adds other than a greater feeling of futility to the final decision
which is also why i love that part of the story
Like, i kind of love how the game leads you on about your decisions mattering when in reality they really don't?
It gives you more interaction with her though... When you travel to the core.
What is life anyway?
While if you let her die, she is just...dead.
And you do worse things in the Living ship quest line anyway.
(Feel your living ship egg with souls of travellers.)
yeah but the living ship questline isn't playing with philosophy the way the artemis path is (which is why i'm honestly not a fan)
it's just pretty stock cosmic horror, it's neat tho
Yes, the realization that they are trapped and acceptance of their fate...for now anyways - should ask them after they have experienced a million years in their prison
Yep. To let somebody live in an illusion of life... Or to let him pass away...
Funny is that later you find out that you have same fate as Artemis, if you chose the first option.
Only in bigger simulation.
She actually forgives you that.
And it's same as you live forever in the prison of the Atlas simulation.
No way, I'm breaking the world of glass and ending the sim
I hope we never get to do that tbqh
I hope the atlas dying is just, something that looms over us for the game's lifespan
I don't think it will actually break, I'm hopeful it is supplanted or joined by the Abyss
seeing things slowly change as reality destabilizes, unable to stop it
There wasn't anything about The Abyss for long time.
they have added Abyss lore several times - Atlas rises, Origins, Dream of the Deep - the archives, and ofc Sentinels
I think they have a plan
Sentinels are Abyss too? I just noticed that they have some hivemind (in the Sentinel update or which added the Sentinel boundaries).
The trace of metal quest talks about the abyss
You guys think Artemis ended up in the Abyss when they stepped through that portal?
also sentinel pillars
World of glass, yep
I think the Abyss is the program that runs it now
That's how it can subvert sentinels
Explains why they were stalked by creatures with "seeds of glass into their skin". I wonder if we will ever see those beings in gameplay. Must be scary as fuck hehe.
Oh I hope so
NMS going from a space exploration game to a horror survival game haha
Anyways. Poor Arty. They never deserved that 🥺
An actual sentinel expedition would be cool
you know, the glyph warp jump section of the artemis quest is a /really/ good way to do some trading.
@lapis holly now that you mention it, I wish I had thought about it when I was doing darn
made around 50 mil or so
@lapis holly 👀
Do you all think something will happen to the anomaly eventually? It is apparently in worse and worse condition over time
Apollo gives you circular room and door blueprints when he asks you to improve your base. He then gives you construction overseer terminal.
I'm not sure why you think it's not a narrative flaw. HG constructed a character to make you feel things and then puts you in a moral dilemma. She's only there to be a philosophical argument, she has no agency of her own. The story never even allows the player to ask what Artemis wants. Framing someone else's life choice around what the player wants is meaningless. That's absolutely a problem with the writing IMO.
cross save is already possible with xbox @mental socket
xbox use its cloud for exemple i can use my xbox save on my pc with the xbox aplication
I'm aware but that's Microsofts own cross save system. Not one HG has made. Cross save on switch would only mean that the save could be taken on another platforms since Nintendo doesn't have any other console capable of running NMS
Which would be a cross save system implemented by HG themselves
it's entirely intentional, and is therefore not a flaw??
how would you even ask artemis, given that their mind wasn't exactly able to communicate when you have to make this decision?
(at least, as far as i remember)
artemis almost certainly still has the agency to bring themself to an end if they so choose, when within that simulation, as well
Why would you think that? I doubt the simulation Artemis is put in is any different than the simulation the player exists in. You die, the simulation creates a new iteration of you. I don't think Artemis has any capacity to end it themselves. In any case, what I mean is that Artemis as a character only exists to provide a Philosophy 101 essay question. They are a cardboard cutout of a person. We only care about Artemis's fate in as much as our natural empathetic instincts kick in. That's bad storytelling.
The way I see it, NMS isn't trying to have a character-based narrative, and that's fine. It's written more like some vintage sci-fi (e.g. Asimov) where characters serve the purpose of exposition, and the real narrative is more conceptual in nature. I wouldn't objectively call it "bad storytelling," just a different, more uncommon style of sci-fi.
First off, this
not every story needs to be character driven
and NMS certainly isn't
i'd say it's more driven by it's themes and how it toys with philosophy and the characters are vehicles for that. That's why the entire game is written in the way it is. I wouldn't say characters are particularly well defined but they're not trying to be. Storytelling can take different forms and lambasting a work for not conforming to a specific idea of what it is is frankly silly
Second, here I feel like you're basically asking "why can't i stop the trolley" and then calling that a flaw rather than it being the entire point.
Like, you're blaming the game for not conforming to your philosophy or letting you circumvent the problem because of how you feel about the subject matter
you believe that the character should have agency in whether they get to live or die? Ok, so do I. But that's not relevant to the choice being made here.
That's not a problem, that's the point.
If i could stop the trolley, it'd defeat the point
I like the "Why can't I stop the trolley?" metaphor. Many games make the player character an important key piece of the narrative and world. And while "the last traveller" is a significant thing, in the grand scheme of things we are but an insignificant drop in the bucket and that, understandably, doesn't sit right with some people. I think the existential dread and meaningless is a great part of the story. I started out believing I would make a difference in this world, to make a meaningful mark, but eventually came to the conclusion that nothing really matters, or ever did.
Hey, did anyone else notice this in the Switch release date trailer? Right at the end when they're showing the promo art for all the updates. This is the last one and it's visible for a single frame. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but it doesn't look like any of the previous update artwork to me
Actually, correction: it's the second-last to appear, followed by Prisms. It's also visible for a few more frames before the screenshot I took, just not the whole thing. Here's a closer look at the bottom
Ah ok, I guess I must've missed that one when looking through the old updates lol
YouTube compression tripped me up with the lack of a logo and those black orbs I guess
😄
Here's hoping we'll get some news soonish though!
I'll say i think 4.0 is going to be more of a technical update
Odds are super high, fast approaching Switch Release
psvr2 , mac port, switch port
i think crosssave was mentioned on the switch page on amazon
I think it's gonna have technical stuff like that in it but it'll also be a major content update
On a Canadian one and based on the rest of it, it was someone not very familiar with it
They mentioned settlements in the future too
I think they said Endurance might be the biggest content update of the year so i'm not getting my hopes up
But it's releasing with them, at least going by their own trailers
We haven't had the big summer update this year (they've always been in August or September so I don't think Endurance was it) so I think we'll get something content-wise
I've had the theory that we might not be getting one, purely because how much technical stuff is happening soon
like ports are hard
and the team's still pretty small
i'd like to be proven wrong
Today, we are releasing what is probably our biggest update of the year (our 20th major free update). Perhaps fittingly we’re calling it ENDURANCE
Port is done, it's a physical release too
Been done once they announced the official date
this is what's kind of defused my hype for 4.0, and that's okay tbqh
like the past 3 updates have slapped
I do think we'll be getting at least some content per the latest development update
yea, i don't expect nothing
Even their "little" ones release with QOL and fixes
So if nothing else we get that, which is always welcome
but yeah i'm a big fan of what we've gotten this year , in retrospect 2021 was kinda mid. Like I don't think there were any bad updates i just don't think there were any great ones
As an avid screenshot taker, Prisms was fantastic
Prisms was probably my favorite
I mean, we've gotten more development this year than we have in a long time lol
It's been great
Yeah I think the last 3 updates have all been my favorite updates since Origins
was about to say
like, it feels like for some reason the momentum from Origins took another year to actually kick in
Companions was good for the community, Expeditions are neat but they need work especially regarding FOMO. Prisms was awesome and Frontiers was half really good
Outlaws hands down is my favorite
and the other half was unfinished
Origins is my favorite overall, but that's barely ahead of Atlas Rises because i'm an NMS boomer at this point
I started playing during NEXT but man i'd give a lot to have the aesthetic of the old versions back with the modern gameplay
Origins did a really good job bringing that back for me, i just wish it went farther but it went as far as it feesably could
You can't recreate it 1 to 1 because NMS 1.0 has a very specific feeling that all these new features kind of get in the way of?
and it's way more than the aesthetic
Yeah fair point
it's a very oppressive game atmospherically and it's bare mechanics contribute to that.
it's not the most fun game to play but it's legitimately one of my favorite experiences i've had with a video game
the new stuff is awesome too though, i just see them as different games with very different identities
Yeah agreed
comparing the two is obligatory but otherwise futile
Honestly I think the whole launch debacle was just an issue of peoples' expectations of NMS being very different from what NMS actually was, and over time HG has changed it to that expectation
yeah, it's honestly unfortunate but it's what had to happen
I do really wish more of the exploration was kept intact though - worlds feel way less vibrant nowadays
I want a generation overhaul personally
like the generation in old NMS was more primative but more stuff could happen
like dead planets with water were like...a real thing?
and dead planets with atmospheres
it was awesome
Same here. I don't really mind if they do a universe reset, it's been 4 years since NEXT and if we get way better generation it'd add a lot to the game imo
I adore what we have now, especially with the creature update origins brought with it
Like, No Man's Sky feels alien again
Origins ,along with these past 3 updates have kind of brought back the feelings of pure excitement and happiness i felt when i was reading the patch notes for updates like Pathfinder and Atlas Rises when i was 15
I really wanna see more thick atmospheric fog on some planets like what we saw on Oria V
Pfff
I feel like getting the old aesthetic is either a long ways away or never happening but it's something i desperately want.
It feels more surreal
i love what we have now though
it's more detailed and that's weird to me but like, sure!
it looks good!
To a degree, it has the same sort of things people mention now though - repeating terrain. The snake terrain being a good example
Oh yeah definitely. I would love to see some more rugged mountains though
my only gripe is the space station floor , idk i just don't like how it looks now
i liked just the pitch black
I mean i had an idea for like "Timeshifted planets" where there was a rare chance a planet could be like
a planet from a specific era of the game
like, OG, AR, Pathfinder, Prerelease
maybe make use of some of the shadow systems - have them be Launch, or AR or Next
That would be cool but it sounds like it'd be a massive PITA to implement
Oh I'm sure
oh absolutely it'd be misery
but to be fair, it's not like HG wouldn't to make some people happy
The datamined Water world would be a nice thing to see also - whatever it may be
like Origins was very much targetted at NMS veterans
I know the Better Planet Generation did some interesting stuff with it, like having water flora on land
Reminded me a bit of Satisfactory's Blue Crater biome
We can have underwater flora on land in vanilla though
Exotic assets too
On normal biomes
and they still throw us bones every now and again, like Grahgrahs reappearing in Outlaws as contraband and them finally making nipnip contraband to the point where the joke is outdated now
Yeah true - it's just a bit of a different vibe from what BPG had
Definitely
I'd like to see an underwater overhaul, i think The Abyss is kind of dated
Here's a screenshot of the BPG waterworld - I really like the vibe this has
(Not my screenshot btw - it's taken from the Nexus page lol)
underwater ecology is functionally identical on every planet just with different assets and slightly different distribution
additionally a lot of underwater points of interest are just the stuff above ground just changed a bit
there's very little reason to actually explore the depths passed a certain point
We have skewed well away from spoilers, let's move on over to #nms-the-future
oh, apologies!
Yeah good idea
No worries, I'm guilty too lol
Is there any relation between the main characters and the gods that they’re named after?
I know that Atlas makes some sense, as in Greek mythology Atlas was the Titan who carried the heavens for all eternity, and the Atlas in game simulates the entire universe.
But what about Artemis and Apollo?
The Artemis thing might have something to do with the one man that Artemis fell in love with, but could never be with (I forgot what the story is called I’ll lyk if I remember, it’s not Orion tho), and I think that symbolizes her love for the stars that she can never return to.
I have no clue about Apollo tho
I could also be grasping at straws for the Artemis one
No, what I meant is, the choice is meaningless because we have no idea what Artemis wants, so we have no idea whether the choice we made is good or bad. Thus, the game asks to make a choice that has no purpose. There is no lesson there, no burst of wisdom. All of the narrative lead-up is there to shock the player, to tug on their heartstrings. But we don't even know Artemis long enough or well enough to really care about them as an individual, which would make the impact of the no-win choice we have to make stronger. You said that NMS is not a character-driven story, and yet the only thing the game asks you to care about in the main story is the characters. Frankly, I think the lore you get from terminals and NPCs does a better job at what they were trying to do than the main narrative does.
I hope to see a continuation story for Artemis and Apollo though.
I felt bad that I had to choose for them. I wish Artemis could make that choice themselves.
it would be nice. it's a shame that you can't even talk to Artemis if you chose to "save" them. but I think at this point I would rather the narrative move forward with all the lore threads HG have dropped the past few years. the Abyss, the world of glass, the water. so many interesting places for the story to go but HG for some reason just hasn't wanted to tell us more
my biggest point of annoyance right now is that HG have introduced gameplay concepts that are at odds with the way the static universe has been described. Pirate factions who claim to renounce Atlas are taking over whole star systems, with no retribution from the Sentinels. why? we are given no explanation for such a fundamental shift in the universe's dynamics
Maybe they haven't talked about it because it will be continued in the future.
Blighted expedition had pirates who found the portals. Maybe the universe waas once static but no longer is.
Atlas malfuctions causing happy little accidents.
That has been already happening with the alien factions too. As in the game's lore, Vy'keen are supposed to be at war with sentinels. Yet you never see them fight each other. Yet they even call sentinels on you if you attack their trader or space station. And the sentinels even guard their buildings like factories.
In fact, generally in the lore sentinels are destroying entire civilizations on planets. As we can for example see in the Frontiers content how our settlement eventually gets attacked by sentinels. Yet again, in game these civilisations instead work together with sentinels.
And if you just think that Atlas doesn't make sentinels attack 🏴☠️ s, then not only that, but if you somehow are able to get attacked by sentinels and 🏴☠️ s in space at same time, they work together to kill you instead of fighting it out in form of free for all battle. And sentinels even don't fight back when 🏴☠️ s attack their buildings on planets during planetary raid.
So yep. Sentinels behave completely different in lore than they behave in the game.
And in case of the Outlaws story at the end when you are told to use a fake passport you can actually denounce the 🏴☠️ s instead and then you are told that Atlas sent sentinels to the pirate controlled system which you denounced. So the story mentions Atlas trying to destroy the pirates at their systems. But I doubt that in the gameplay anything like that happens.
Is there a track that can be considered NMS's main theme song? Its musical symbol?
You know, kind of the same way Proof of a Hero is the musical symbol of Monster Hunter
Whichever music hello games always use for trailers? Not sure which though
what does the atlas dying actually mean? does it reset itself when it reaches its end? is manually resetting it like euthanizing it, giving it an early death? or is a reset and a death different
Basically, it's about to switch off because its maker abandoned it and it believes resetting will fix it, but it doesn't
It will shut down in 16 minutes, which however are perceived as probably billions of years inside the sim
so a reset doesnt actually prevent 16
No
youre just doing it cus the atlas wants it
Yes
thanks, i get it now
makes me feel better about choosing to refuse lol
a little bit weird the atlas tells you that it will leave the option open to you after refusing
cus afaik theres no way to actually initiate a reset after that point
That's because technically the protagonist isn't going to change their mind about it
I like to imagine that they refuse to reset the simulation because they don't want to end up like Null
is resetting what null meant when he said he killed to become what he is?
Yes
Null would do just anything for the satisfaction of exploring the whole galaxy. First it transferred its mind into an energy core inside a robotic body to become immortal and have time to explore every single planet. Then the Atlas laughed in its face and told it there are multiple galaxies, so Null reset the sim to explore those as well
Now the protagonist scares it because if someone else does the reset it will be erased
ohh okay
i had some trouble understanding the nuances while playing through the story but that makes a lot of sense
i guess its part of the reason why null is so upset of not being "chosen" anymore, like hes not in control
Every traveller is the protagonist of their own iteration of the sim and become NPCs in the next one. So Null was the one called by the Atlas in the sim it reset to keep exploring infinity
And the boundaries between iterations broke, so travellers can also meet each other in multiplayer.
@solid citrus yes I believe he dies
There is a line that says “next time I see him he will be dead” or something
So we never actually see him physically?
How is it I didnt understand the distinction of a anamoly and a traveler tell now.
Finally did a proper review of the ARG.
So.. yeah, that sure put the context of the experiences as a character Im having into a different perspective.
I thought all travelers were anamolies lol.
Each traveler is the anomaly in their native iteration of the sim
I'm trying to recall if this was the point of no return for Apollo
Giving him the coordinates is what kills him right?
But if I don't he gets all mad at me
Do I have to reset the atlas to beat the game?
The game doesn't really have an "ending" per se - resetting is the closest to one, but refusing effectively does the same thing quest-wise
So it's really just a matter of if you wanna go to another galaxy or not
If I restart, does nada die
Nope! They're in a pocket dimension outside of the regular NMS universe
;~; does anyone have an answer for my question above
Yeah I think so
Wbt my base in the original galaxy
I suppose it's "reset" in the game's lore but you can still go to it and travel between galaxies at will in-game. So nothing will happen to it, don't worry!
When you reset the Atlas you go to another galaxy, but you can always travel back to old ones
I think of it as the simulation is still going, I'm just thrust into a new one
(Via the portal network)
I refused it, but I can find it again right
If you refused to reset the sim you can't go back and do it again unfortunately
You can go to the next galaxy by reaching the center of one though
But didnt the atlas say something that said u could go back?
Yeah the atlas did say something about it but you can't actually go back ingame. Seems like a plot inconsistency, hopefully HG will fix it at some point
Wait so resseting just wraps u to another galaxy without touching Euclid?
Yeah
What's the rememberance for then if u dont resset
Remembrance is a technology that lets you read certain lore terminals in buildings
Oh
Sorry If I'm asking to much but, what's the speed of life for? I have it but have never used it
I've never heard of it before, where'd you get it?
Oh yeah that!
I don't really remember what it does, I'll peek around the wiki real quick
I'd imagine you're probably talking about "Star Seed" - it increases your core health by 1 unit
Woops ya
Remembrance also does that, and if you put both of them next to each other you get a third extra health bit
But rlly, 1 unit? Lol
Yeah lol
Can u visit the galaxy u make?
Completing the atlas path also lets you see black holes on the galaxy map though so that's nice
You don't actually make a galaxy or a star outside of the lore
Oh
How do u complete it? It just wants me to birth a new star over and over
And I already see black holes without completing it
If you see black holes and have the star seed blueprint you've already completed it
There's a bug where it'll reappear in your quest log sometimes
yw
hmmmm
I am in the mission where you help Apollo figure out the Monoliths/ teleporting sentinels. Does it make a difference if you witness the glyphs or refuse to?
This apollo question is still bugging the heck out of me
Literally every time someone online asks the question, it's met with some form of tongue-in-cheek "decide and find out" answer
It's like spoilers = execution
I've played both before, it's just been too long for me to remember
well, sometimes people do post in here 😛
it's suggested to play the artemis story line up to the purge, then switch over to the atlas path, as the purge will continue alongside just fine as you warp around
I know. Do you have an answer for my apollo question?
checking
Does refusing him the coordinates save him, or is that giving to him that does that?
no difference, it saves you a bit of dialogue
I should have given him the coordinates to see the dialogue then
oh well
piss off my new friend or potentially kill him is a bad choice -_-
if you do give him the coordinates you get some more interactions sprinkled in between the other actions with null, IIRC
there is little to nothing you can screw up in this game
there is no game changing decision anymore pretty much
no content is precluded based on your choices in the end
Games are where I come to destroy my current existence. As such, any thing I do has meaning, even if the game is designed to limit it. >_>
even if you decide not to give birth to a new star at the end of the atlas path, you still have another shot at it anytime you find an atlas interface
Otherwise I'll remember that in the morning I have to go back to my dumb job too quickly :^)
life, the thing that happens when you're trying to get some gaming done
You know, on one hand, I really feel for the Atlas
It's going through an existential crisis as much as Travellers are
But it's really just running code, isn't it? Who created it? That's what I want to know. It's a powerful machine, but a machine nonetheless, and machines are not created by themselves.
Oh that's who created it.
I just went down a trippy lore hole
Curiosity since I haven't played since, like, Beyond...is there anything else I could do lore-wise or quest-wise in the starting galaxy before finishing up with Atlas Rises/Purge?
Who
Read the wiki on it
It's a rabbit hole...super great story. The novelization is something I would so read.
|| Basically it was created for the specific purpose of creating its own realities, and each species had their own little multiverse machines like the Atlas. The Atlas was abandoned on a world and eventually began malfunctioning, counting down to its own demise. You can also read a lot of this at space stations with level 3 atlas passes ||
Huge spoiler.
remembrance terminals
They are broken now though.
When you choose to do a certain action with them, they say nothing more.
This is some of the creepiest shit I've read in a video game.
Had that story too. And so know what is also creepy? That probably a green jellyfish was cause of the voice. As it was the only alien creature I have encountered in that Derelict freighter. Unless the Freighter was instead haunted by the murdered priest.
Though that reminds me one thing in Derelicts - the dangerous thing which caused the death/escape of the crew not interacting with player. Imagine for example rogue AI leaving someone in the Freighter analysis pdas about you, trying to scare you off. Or that mentioned voice above trying to somehow kill you/lure you into a danger and you would have to resist it. But sometimes there could be a thing which could appear dangerous at first, but would actually help player somehow if he would cooperate with it. So there would be more difference.
I do wish the stories factored into what you encounter on the ship.
Probably already posted, but the next set of community rewards is three posters, three of these, though I'm not sure which three. I'm sure someone else can narrow it down:
top right and middle second from the top, I think
those look like ones I don't have yet
one is from the most recent expedition I think, and the other I don't remember where I got it but it is also recent
or maybe I don't have it yet (the leftmost one bottom)
"beyond best friends"
I like how HG created their own alphabet for the game.

that's what will let you choose to reset the simulation
that's not the atlas path
the atlas path never lets you hop galaxies
so, either complete the artemis path
or just spam the first glyph in a portal to get close to the core of the galaxy
then just warp through core
if all you need is to go to another galaxy
all i need is the title, my main save ive been to every galaxy lol the title is all i want
what does the title require from you exactly
there are two identical titles called "timeless" and one is for choosing a new galaxy like eesentiem, and the other is "to refuse the atlas" or something like that
probably it's refusing to reset the simulation then
and that happens at the end of the artemis path
yes! that
so, gotta buckle up and do the full artemis path
my man i really appreciate the help lol
yw
while i have you, the only other title i need is the "Traitor" title if you know how to get that one
I'd do the same thing you'd do 😛
"nms traitor title how to" or something, in google 😛
can't really remember the 200 titles this game has
and probably I'm lowballing the number
Well i appreciate your help regardless bud! lol these titles are all i have left to do in this game haha
there! look! a red name! has to be one of those pirates!
Yes! i tried to denounce once before and it didnt work, im not sure what i did wrong

pews
@reef oriole here
the Heart of the Sun is the last seed in the set of 10 seeds that the Atlas Path teaches you, resetting the simulation, hopping galaxies or completing the Artemis Path have nothing to do with the Atlas Path and that Heart of the Sun - the only connection there is that to install the Remembrance (the tech you get out of the Artemis Path) you need the Heart of the Sun
ah my bad sorry i shouldve come to this channel first
yeah makes sense, so i do the atlas path storyline now
no i only played through the artemis storyline
it's a tech you install in your suit
but what does it do
star seed + remembrance side by side in the suit give you 3 more health points
the remembrance on its own allows accessing some terminals behind atlas pass doors
one info: when you get at the end of the Atlas Path, to get the Star Seed tech unlocked, I believe you have to give birth to a new star
since the max health is capped to 9 you may or may not care about such health
and you may not care about the lore you could get out of interacting with the terminals that require the Remembrance
so it really is up to you
alright thank u for ur explanations
and so in the game there are two storylines right, artemis and atlas path?
and then all the side missions and lines that i can do too
ah okok
the Atlas Path is really linear and short
ah okok i see
has its own "story" so to speak, but it's not "the" story as it's normally referred to by the community
ah alright, and after the atlas and artemis stories or not so stories, then its just free open sandbox to do whatever with no story or path right?
correct - keep in mind that the atlas path is bugged at the end, in the sense that it will never permanently go away from your mission list
it may pop back up again just getting near an atlas station
but you'll know you'll have to ignore it
otherwise all you can do there is pop in another heart of the sun and give birth to another (non-existing) star - just spacefluff really
you'll have to craft the full set of seeds twice - once for the atlas path, one for installing the remembrance
alright i see, and the "the space anomaly" mission will always stay too?
that will always stay there as well
ugh thats annoying ahah
just like the exploration secondary mission that appears on any planet
yeah
you'll learn to live with it
same as the base computer quest
that will never go away either
and the new beginnings quest will also stay forever im guessing?
correct
that's the "parking" quest that you can select not to have anything in your bottom right corner
ah okok i see, and so i picked the green galaxy, is it possible to ever go to the other galaxies or no?
you can easily go to all galaxies
!starcablink
guess the command won't work here
run that command in #bot-spam
alright
see if it works for you
i dont think it worked
sure it did
the server?
ohh
there you can ask for a ride to any other galaxy
you'll have to be patient till someone is available
but works
or you do core jumping to go to the next galaxy in sequence
just make sure you keep a base in each galaxy you visit
so that you can hop back and forth as you please
and we're done with the spoilers 😄
ohhh thats cool so people can take u to other galaxies then? thats pretty cool, thank u for all ur help
yw
Seems bugged tho
can you screenshare? we can tackle that in the voice channel
otherwise we discuss that here
Yeah what vc
your pick
GoLive 1 sure
k
What happens if u let the atlas kill u?
The conversation carries on.
"Go visit your old friends in the Anomaly" ... but they just stick their fingers in their ears and go "la la la" .. .what's the point
Nada and Polo choose to ignore the truth 😭
A few days back I read some monolith logs about Gek history. The Korvax nanites caused the Gek low spawn to overthrow the higher spawn.
I have a theory that the First Spawn Gek of higher castes or "spawns" were taller and that the small Gek we see today are the low Spawns who took over and who probably have always been that small.
Just like how worker bees are smaller than queens.
Maybe it's also why you can only use the first spawn helmet as an anomaly, it might be suitable for their height
a new galaxy is generated from the ashes of the old (in reality, all of these galaxies are procgen and not newly created, and other players have explored them too, but that's the intent of the narrative I guess). you will be left on a random planet in a random system there
Do I lose my stuff?
your tech will be broken but youll keep it
any tech in general suit or ship inventory will be broken
so use a ship with little to no tech in the general inv, move critical tech in the suit to the tech slots
additionally, all tech in your multitool will break
so switch to a crap multitool before the reset
lastly, bring a pile of repair kits, and you'll be set
yes
you're not done with that yet
you need to go see the final atlas interface
you may want to do this right away and get rid of the pending conclusion
searching for the ||leyline porale rn||
trueture
just grab manual save before finishing this part
as you may want to go back and prepare yourself differently according to what you'll choose
if you have no idea about what's about to happen, you may want NOT to read anything else about it
and just experience it
you can reload your manual save and just go back to pick a different option or do something else instead of completing it
you can postpone
The portals with the glyphs?
nope
Oh
hopping galaxies
@brisk skiff travel through the galactic cores
Oh wow
and iirc possibly black holes?
or completing the artemis path and choosing a specific action
Black holes so far have only damaged my ship
ok there you go then
core jumping damages all tech in the suit and ship general inventories
and all tech in the active multitool
!faq-corewarp
Huh, that seems like alot of trouble
ah the command doesn't work here
yes, but you can avoid it
just use a burner MT
keep the tech in the Tech tab
Is hopping galaxies the same as resetting the simulation?
for the sake of this damage, yes
cause resetting the simulation throws you in a new galaxy
i also use a burner starship and do the hop using my freighter
living ship has a lot of tech slots
Is there a way to return to a previous galaxy? Or once I hop its a one way trip?
you can warp back to any visited station or any base you built on the previous galaxies
with base computers and stations and whatnot
you can also get rides to other galaxies just fine
plus Nexus missions often shoot you back to Euclid
there's an entire discord server dedicated to that taxi thing
indeed
and for the kind of stuff they pulled off, the game isn't even all that buggy
and not even all that crappy as performance
it's quite good
I dont think I have encountered a bug yet, at least one that I noticed
i play on a potato. i probably dont see as much plantlife as the rest of the population, but it's smooth and looks "good enough"
fingers crossed - but keep saving 😛
yep, they nailed the settings levels to let even weaker rigs play it
but we're going off topic from spoilers 😛
I just struggle to keep playing, I dont know what to do anymore. I finished the story, got a great ship and multitool, now what?
finally breaks.)
