I happened to get a bit over excited about the fleet command room. Not what I expected. I was thinking of being able to send out frigates on live combat missions where you actually have command over your fleet, use new tactics, exploit weaknesses, get actuall rewards that will increase your fleets power, take risk, team up with friends, buy different types of ships to expand your range of tactics, buy fighters for carriers, raid stations, and simply have fun. I just thought that the game could use more combat objectives.

@brave sun the reason we use a command is because it sends the suggestions straight to a channel where it is easy for us to keep track of them. If we had people simply suggesting in this channel it would be easy for suggestions to be not seen or ignored due to people talking in the channel

extra channel ideas: since we all have the class roles, a LFG channel for each would be interesting: trader channel if someone is looking to trade farm stuff, Explorer channel for needing help in finding buildings on planets, Pirate channel if someone needs help fighting sentinels and looting NPC frigates, and Scientist channel for people who need help scanning and documenting all creatures on planets

I always thought that General being "Non-NMS Discussion" would clear up issues for those who can't read the channel topics. (Like on mobile)
General does make sense. But then it's a NMS server, so for those not offay with Discord, it might seem like "General NMS Talk"

But all staff/helpers/etc are voluntary. I'm sure it would be annoying for anybody to be pinged every 5 minutes for "how do I wire my battery to my door" lol. We have a community here, we work together. If your question isnt being answered, don't take it personally.

@toxic hare as much as I and other people in the community try to help people out, it's not possible to have full coverage all the time for every question. If things get lost in chat it's just because things go quick, it's okay to ask the same question a few times if you don't get an answer the first time. Even with a pingable role (that would definitely get pinged too often), you'll still not have that full coverage that you want. It's just a side effect of having a large and more recently active server, nothing we can do to really solve that completely

We've provided some more fragmented help channels in an attempt to mitigate it, but we cant just add more channels and roles to solve the problem, especially if we're taking into consideration the complaints already stated in this channel about new members not understanding the roles' meanings or skipping over the welcome message (or joining before it's updated)

It's not mine personally, and I don't have a giant opposition to a VR only channel, we just need better reasoning and need to consider the already existing layout.

We have a lot of channels and can't add more every time there's a new feature, so we have to try and consolidate.

If you have a really good case for something you could put in a VR only channel that wouldn't be encompassed in another channel without issue, that's fine
