Idea: Systems with Endless Swarms to increase the challenge presented in combat! [Suggestion]
TLDR: I'm feel unfulfilled in combat, would love an "endless swarm" type event to opt into in Normal mode!
Background: Bought the game on release, played a good 40-60hrs, didn't play for years, recently picked it back up, played 200+hrs on easy mode.
Absolutely stunning what they've done to this game.
Love settlements, freighters, did the Leviathan expedition, love the space anomaly, love having a weapon on my spaceship that shoots so fast it glitches the sound :')
Here's the thing though;
I love the combat in this game. Especially once you've got a bit of an overpowered ship and you start surviving hoards of ever growing sentinels. Or blasting into space and battling them and their giant battleships.
But I also really really love just chilling, sitting back, having a freak'n snackplate (love a good charcuterie board) and some wine, whilst messin' around building a sphinx for my newly acquired settlement.
However, I feel like I only die to bugs now. Clipping into objects coming out of hyperdrive. Landing on a planet clipping into terrain, unable to espace. Randomly falling through the planet into the void.
In short: I enjoy the gameplay of normal mode, and the combat challenge of survival/permadeath where you struggle a bit more to stay alive.
You know how in Tetris there's an endless mode? (Yeah yeah, I'm old, I know, figured cheese and wine gave that away already) That's the kinda thing I'd like to see in this game.
Like an sentinal home planet with literally endlessly increasing difficulty of swarms. Make them do more and more damage. Fire more rapidly. Or spawn bigger waves!
Or a type of galaxy that is completely swarmed by sentinels, with literal constantly increasing difficulty sentinal swarms.
I want to have the option, in Normal mode, to go somewhere I know will kill me if I stay...
