Living ship shopping [Question]

So finally decided to do that quest. I've received my first one. As I understand it's pretty hard to upgrade it so I'd like to browse them first. Googling finds some weird ways of doing this. I think they changed it recently...or? I noticed I have the void egg again. Did someone give it to me at the anomaly or do we get it back after finishing the quest?

VR & No Mans Sky [Question]

I do not own the game currently but was gonna buy it since its currently on sale on steam. But before i do this i wanted to ask some questions:

First of all, i will be playing this with one Friend both of us playing in VR. This is why i wanted to ask some questions regarding the VR. Does it run well? I can run other VR titles like Alyx just fine. Does the VR work? Will i actually be interacting with the game world through my hands and not a menu? And lastely though not really VR related: Can i act as one Unit with my friend? For example were in the same ship and he drives while i do whatever inside the space ship or do we still need separate ships for travel. Im not sure why but i really wanna travel in the same ship with my friend.

Controller on Steam help [Question]

I recently picked up NMS on PC (use to be a console user) and I still use controllers. I mainly use a switch Pro controller for my PC as I have a spare.

Whenever I go to quick transfer (so use quick transfer button) the stack automatically spilts in half, and then splits again when I press it again (my quick transfer is mapped to y and the half stack to x) does anyone know how to fix this? (I have my controller set to Xbox bull on layout)

Any way to quickly purchase or select max/min number of an item? [Question]

Call me a spoiled pc gamer, but clicking and holding an amount adjustor grinds my gears. Is there a keyboard shortcut (usually something like alt + click) that will instantly maximize or minimize the available amount?

Alternatively, I'd love to be able to click into an amount field and type in the exact amount I'm trying to get.

A friend of mine is thinking of buying NMS for the PS4, as that is the only console he has. Looking at the store on the mobile app and web browser the PS5 version comes bundled with the PS4 one and has a discount as of right now.

Multiplayer PS4/PS5 question [Question]

Hello,

I bought NMS on disc awhile ago on the PS4. I managed to get at PS5, get the upgrade and am now playing it on the PS5. One of my children has come to like the game as well and we'd like to run it together. I get that we only have one disc for both systems, but I also noticed that NMS is currently on sale digitally. Would I be able to buy the digital version then play from my PS4 and my PS5? My child would play on the disc in the PS5, and I would play digitally from the PS4. My concern would be that since both the disc and the digital are on my PSN account, they won't allow us to have two seperate sessions, even though one is on the disc and the other is not. I could try to create another PSN account for the kid, but would they be allowed to load up their game from my PSN's account save? Or would it simply work?

building elements lost on base editing [Bug]

When I edit my base lots of elements just disappear. For example I want to move a wall tile and then when I place it somewhere else, suddenly parts of the floor or roof are missing.

Also, I wanted to move my landing pad, but I am unable to place it again because it says I am lacking ingredients. I just wanted to move that fucking thing, why am I not able to do so?! Now I first need to get 2 more microprocessors.....

Stuck on Awakenings, Find us Hear us. [Question]

Hi,

So, on my first play through and having a blast so far, but seem to be stuck.

The ship guidance marker for picking up the second lot of anti matter seems to be stuck behind an unmineable barrier of rock and I can't get the quest to move on. I've interacted with the gek pillar at the location and this hasn't helped either.

Reloaded a prior save prior to warping into the system and this resulted in me being back at the same place in the same situation. Am I doing something wrong due to my noobiness?

Playing in VR if that makes any difference.

I started to play nms a month ago and done the 3rd expedition got the rewards. And I wanna do expedition 1 and 2 especially 2 because I'm a huge fan of Mass Effect. So my question is does expeditions have cycles or any other way to obtain the rewards like and other frigates look like Normandy etc.

NMS really needs to update the flight mechanics. [Discussion]

If you've ever played star citizen then you might agree. Star citizen completely blows NMS out of the water in terms of ship flight. There are many things NMS could do such as, allow for complete stops and not just a constant idle speed. Allow decoupled mode as in star citizen to allow for more maneuvers in zero gravity. Personally when I'm fighting pirates I just sit in one spot and tank them until they're all taken out. There is no point to even trying to move while fighting them.

This is my biggest issue in the game, the flight is totally outdated. I play on steam now but still have my original pre ordered ps4 copy. Love the game but I would really enjoy this being the next big update. I dont think anything else could improve the game more than this would.

Atlas Stones [Question]

Does anyone have any remaining Atlas Stones? I had 5 of them, but sold them 2 years ago as they no longer had a use and 50k credits for each seemed like a lot of money at the time. Money is no longer an issue for me, and I really wish I had the Atlas Stones because they are my last reminder of playing the game near launch. I am willing to trade millions/billions worth of items ingame for even just 1 Atlas Stone to have again. If anyone is willing to work something out or knows of any surviving Stones, please let me know!

Damn this update is really taking a long time to drop [Discussion]

I mean dont understand me wrong, i knkw that Hello Games takes long to deliver this kind of things, and that they are a small team, the wait is always worth it and i’ve been in this comunity for a long time,so i can wait, but, it seems they had some sort of schedule on the past that it was like a update would deop after two months or so from the last one, i didnt even remember when the FRONTIERS dropped exactly ( just the part we thought we were getting the combat update) but i fell they ate taking REALLY long for the next update to dropp, im not complaining, i can wait a whole year if needed, because i know that they will deliver something worth the wait in the end, but damn dude i just hope its gonna be big because if they are taking that long to make it there is a chance that its gonna be MASSIVE, just like ORIGINS, what do you guys would like to see? Really wanting to hear some ideas (i just want a combat update, not turn the game in a FPS but something new in that pillar would really help)

Can someone guide me through on wiring my base. I can't seem to get it working on the doors specifically and everything looks so messed up. The doors stay closed and never open again. A way to surpass/unlock holding limits in survival? [Question]

Is there such a thing? Like I really liked the mechanic in the beginning, but after acquiring late game stuff it feels...outdated and tedious more than challenging especially when trying to process many things through refining. Like ok portable refiners having a size limit of 250 input and output is fine, but also 3 slot refiners?

Like I like how survival taught me to treat my inventory differently to circumvent some things and make things easier for me in the long run, but I'd honestly like to get to a point where I can unlock a way to stop dealing with that and continue with the rest of survival in a less burdensome way so I can appreciate/focus on different stuff more. There probably aren't missions or items which allow me to unlock stacking back to 9999 on individual or all elements but are there other things I can use to get back some of that convenience or something like it?

Like automatic input output for refining stations so I don't have to move 250 stacks every minute? Or a refine all items of this category automatically in your inventory refiner option?

First Player Encounter Outside The Anomaly!? [Question]

So, I didn't realise that I could see people online in the same system as me outside the anomaly! Is this right? I had no idea this was possible.

I saw him at the space station and followed to atlas just to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Player then sent a chat message and I couldn't believe it! How did I not know this already?

This game gets some hate for the whole 'Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle' argument. As for me, things like this add to the exploration and discovery feeling.

NMS VR [Discussion]

Oh my God. That game in VR is a phenomenal experience. My wife bought me an Oculus Quest 2 recently. It runs NMS pretty well with my PC set up. But honestly if you are in love with this game, I would highly suggest playing in VR.

(Side note. I started off having problems running it with the OC2. Kept crashing during start up. I had to run Steam and the Oculus App in Admin mode. )

Are file-wide base building limits still in effect? [Question]

Does anyone know if there are still base building limits on saves? I know about the 3000 component per base limit, but I've also seen claims that there is either a 16,000 or 20,000 component limit per save file. I haven't been able to find any information that's up-to-date, though, and a lot of the posts I've read offer conflicting information on top of that. If anyone knows, could you please illuminate me? I'd greatly appreciate it (currently playing on the PS4).

No Mans Sky is using the wrong GPU. [Question]

Disclaimer: I'm on a Desktop PC and I use 2 GPUs because I have a lot of Screens and I don't want my other monitors impacting my performance.

I had just installed NMS after wanting to play it again and I immediately noticed that the performance is drastically worse than the last time I played.

After looking at the Task-Manager I saw that its using my secondary GPU (GTX 1060) instead of my main one (RX 570) and it continues to do so even after changing the GPU used by this game in my Windows settings.

I tried to do some Google searches to figure our what I can do, I didn't find anything that could fix it.

So I decided to come here and ask, maybe I overlooked something or someone here has an Idea of what I could do to make the game use the right GPU.

What I personally want in a major update... [Discussion]

I love new features and types of content as much as the next person, but what I PERSONALLY want is a major update focusing on improving and adding to existing aspects. Add more content to frigates/freighters, more improvements to the NEXUS and its missions, more things to fight in space and extra challenge should we choose to do so, etc.

I would love an update focusing on deepening existing systems! What do you guys think?

Hi! Apparently, my base computer disappeared, but the marking of the base and when teleporting from the space station to the base is still there. I tried to delete all the parts of my base but was still unable to find it. What should I do in this situation? Also, how can I find the base computer since I'm unable to build a new one? I got to the end of the atlas path (I think) and I’m confused? [Question]

So I visited what I think is all the atlas places and got the recipes for each new orb. I have the heart of the sun orb.

So I went to the atlas path and the big red thing wasn’t there to talk to even though my quest tells me to “talk to the atlas” but there was a long walkway I had to walk down to a triangle shaped metal alter looking thing with a space to what I presume would be where I put the orb. But there’s no button that pops up that says “put orb here” or anything. I can’t interact with anything in the atlas station.

So my question is am I missing something? Is this a glitch? How do I complete this?

Cartographers Summary of my Expedition [Discussion]

So, with the cartographer's expedition ending tomorrow, I thought I'd share my experiences with this expedition just for the sake of sharing a narrative.

I spawned next to my broken exotic right next to another player, and also next to a trade terminal. Also, I instantly got the milestone for climbing a mountain as I was already high up! Nice start, I thought. I went off in the storm to get materials, but the other player was quicker and put a base down where my ship was, which was the start of a series of annoying challenges.

I was working through the challenges and I had plenty of money from storm crystals to purchase a lot of what I needed, though I couldn't repair anything on my ship yet as it required a lot of specific pieces that I knew I would have to track down. I quickly got to the milestone where you need to build a base, and I had to go very far down the mountain to find a place where I could put the base. I didn't yet have the survey device, and this was just one of many mistakes I made with this base, as I should have put it next to a deposit.

I soon had a decent base with a medium refiner and a few other basics. The blueprint research unit has been super-powered for the expedition, and this was great. I bought a roamer bay in excitement before realising that this forsaken planet has no parafinium. I walked miles to a trade centre, and I was thwarted by Sean's programming when I tried to buy an NPC's ship.

Always there [Bug]

So Everytime I start my save, there's always a busted hauler in my base. I decline the invitation to buy it, shoot it everytime it loads in, but still comes back lodged into my base safe. I have two landing pads on my base as well, one unoccupied. Has anyone experienced this weird glitch?

Portal not taking me to correct places [Question]

So there was a planet I was gonna go to and after spending my time finding a portal and putting all the things in it I put in the correct glyphs, checked multiple times too, and went through the portal only to appear at a different planet.

How do you pick a star on the galactic map? [Question]

I have to ask, I must be dumb... I enter free look, and then I try to target a specific star with the mouse, but that's always the neighbors which are highlighted, never the star I want to go toward. Either the interface is incredibly lousy and we are supposed to spend 10 mn on it, or there is a shortcut or another way of doing it.

I Lost My Golden Vector! Help! [Question]

So I finished the living ship mission and I was using my Golden Vector which I love! I was apparently at the max when I accepted the living ship and now my Golden Vector is just gone. I can't redeem it at the Space Anomaly. Am I just screwed? Is there a way to get it back?! If I can't get this ship back there is a good chance I will just not play anymore. I worked hard for this ship and by far my favorite. I'm on Xbox Series X. +200 Hours. The living ship was DEFINITELY NOT worth it!

Planet Hunting request [Discussion]

Like many people who grew up on public television, Zula Patrol was a staple of my science education. For nostalgia's sake, I'd like to find a planet resembling the titular Zula.

Way way out where the planets do the hula...

The planet has an orange sky, warm colored terrain, and, if memory serves similarly colored water. The atmosphere is obviously thick.

It's about time console players got communal text chat like PC players have had for years already! [Suggestion]

Why is it that the pc version has communal text chat but console players only get the less than perfect predictive voice to text chat and only when in a group.

Early game is so fun that I had to start over… how many times have you started over and why? [Discussion]

I didn’t got very far though on my first run. Basically discovered a bunch of cool stuff to do while doing the story up until Apollo quest started. I don’t know if it’s the game or if I goofed around in every direction but there was a lot going on. There was like 10 secondary quests and 3 main quests. Felt like a mess. I know that it’s up to me how I direct my focus. And that’s why I will start over and be more casual and relaxed about things. And don’t overuse certain elements that make this game play to easy.

I love those first hours of this game. We’ll se how i handle things this second time. Hopefully I won’t be restarting again.

88 Hours In My Permadeath Save... [Discussion]

Less than 5kly from the galactic centre. Suit fully upgraded, S class fighter fully upgraded, 100 million units in the bank.

Found myself an unmapped world in a mapped system, figured I'd build a base there to mark it. SUUUUUPER toxic world, but NBD - I've built bases in worse places. Found an S class power hotspot right next to my landing zone too, but it's deep underwater so I have to go diving. I'm down there getting my wiring sorted out when the pizza I've ordered for the kids shows up, so I pause the game and go get it. Dish it up for the kids, they disappear back up to their bedrooms to eat, and I sit back down to finish off my base....

Turns out I didn't pause.

Turns out, I'm back at the menu screen.

Turns out, I get to start again.

Expedition 3 broke me and I loved it [Discussion]

So I know Expedition 3 is a bit controversial, and for a lot of people it's probably their least favourite expedition seeing how it can positively drive one mad trying to do something that's usually no issue at all.

But you're wrong because that's what makes it the best.

All the other expeditions don't particularly change up your gameplay, Exp1 was basically a condensed version of the main mechanics, Exp2 had the Normandy and a bit of a theme going (very cool), Exp4 does this even better by going full on Dune. But they don't really challenge you in a new way. What takes long in a regular safe takes long in the expedition. You start, you repair your ship and you're on your usual way, just with a bit of a checklist.

But Exp3 kicks you in the ankles and grounds you till you're insane enough to walk 2kμ on foot. It has challenges you never face in a regular safe. If there seems to be no "§$[ß%)!§& rock on a planet you get in your ship and you move on - you don't start to rationing freaking ferrite dust like it's gold.

You're not just riding your pet for fun, you're riding it because you have to, to get places. Common, I need some copper not faecium, literally a hole filled with poop. And not ever in hundreds of hours of game time have I proclaimed "jackpot" seeing a patch of tiny rocks or jumped out of my chair with excitement when I finally, holy hell, finally, found a puddle of water that may have crystal sulphide.

You get a whole different relationship with your ship when you're starting to wanna kick it into the exosphere.

TL;DR: I'm clearly a masochist and I really enjoyed being stranded on a weird, hostile planet with unusual resource compositions that force you to "deal with it". And I hope that's something that we'll see more of.

While I don’t have a crazy amount of hours like some players, I have been a long time player of NMS. I currently have a living ship, more money than I’d ever need, and the ability to teleport across the galaxy without completing the story. I stopped playing the game close to three years ago with some occasional exceptions here and there. How many mineral extractors should i build ? [Question]

I started a Activeted Indium farm and im sometimes not very patient person. I already put 5 extractors on top of each other (one tower of mineral extractors) and i get about 2,5k of indium per hour. But i think it could be even better but i heard that too many mineral extractors may decrese efficency of your farm so I need an advice. Thx for help

Missing build options and feature request (community please add to the list) [Suggestion]

Not a bug I guess but what I would argue is a major oversight. For a game that has base building as such a massive aspect I would push that we need to get the build system sorted to address some basic missing aspects: No meaningful lighting options for non modular structures (the lights added provide very little illumination). This issue on it's own pretty much forces me to use cuboid / prefab rooms for construction so that my eyes aren't always suffering. No good stair options (the ramp doesn't solve the same problem) for modular building for exterior access (have to try and clip the non modular stair choices onto modular construction which is janky and frustrating) No railings for modular buildings. You have half walls that work with non modular construction but you don't have railings or half walls for cuboid rooms.

I know there are more that the community can add but please add these build options to make it easier to actually utilize the build options already present in game.

New Player already tired of travelling between planets. Any help would be appreciated. [Question]

I absolutely love the idea of this game, however having only an hour or so to play every couple days, i spend 90% of the time travelling to new planets and galaxies and not returning back to my base for weeks.

What is the best way to avoid this? I love the idea of looting and completing missions, however each one is a hyperdrive away and have to find mats just to get there, and then have to do it all over again to get back.

Where should I set up a base that is centered in between everywhere i need to go?

Any advice for not having to travel / load screen so much would be appreciated.

I picked one, and now it keeps telling me to go to my friends settlement (same planet) and build the overseer building there??? The PvP debate [Suggestion]

Okay I know people want this game to be a free from PvP game and all but there are ways where PvP doesn't hurt the game. I just started into the survival mode and I'm immediately in love with Nms but on the internet I learned that PvP isn't existing officially on Nms and that is an immediate turnoff for me. one way I would suggest is there could be a certain system or a certain group of systems that is entirely dedicated to PvP so people could go there just for PvP and whenever you enter that area or that group of systems you'd get an immediate warning that you are entering a hostile environment so if you do not wish to engage or be engaged then leave. I don't think PvP necessarily hurts Nms making the entire game open to PvP certainly hurts the game but my idea in my opinion wouldn't hurt the game and it would only make the game that more intriguing.

Cant get the Heart of the sun blueprint? [Bug]

The blueprint is given to you as one of the atlas seeds on the atlas path mission, but I completed the artemis storyline before the Atlas path and the mission desapeared and i havent got the blueprint, is that a bug?

My game is in portuguese but you can tell that i don't have the mission because of the icon.

Have owned game since release, have yet to play. But I want to, finally. I have some questions. [Question]

Does it have survival mechanics where you have to be constantly managing your hunger / thirst / hot / cold / energy levels or is the only building and crafting you have to do ship and base and weapon and gear related?

Can somebody explain Storage Capacity? [Question]

I’ve tried Googling, searching the guide, but I’m apparently the only person with this question: how am I meant to understand storage capacity?

When I find a damaged storage thing, for example, and pick up the junk that’s clogging it, the capacity of my exosuit or starship will read something like “Capacity: 9999.” I put the object into storage and then it will read “Capacity: 0.” What does this mean and why does the internet only ever speak of storage slots?

I get slots, but what does capacity mean? I wanna understand so that I can understand the impact that picking up an item will have.

Is there something i can do to keep things from disappearing from my refiners? [Bug]

Ive got 5 on my freighter and nearly every time i use them the refined materials just disappear before they can be collected. Also, anything left inside of them disappears if i leave the ship or call it to me from another location. Im starting to get pretty angry seeing as I’ve lost thousands of nanites and hours of work. Any way to lock refiners? [Question]

I get that a lot of players make farms and invite people to come and take it, but if a refiner is inside a base it really should be off limits without me having to resort to turning off multiplayer.

I left for 30 minutes and someone clearly stopped by to clip my nitrogen reserves from the extractors plus all of the 9999x2 chlorine and O2 that I had running in my refiner. It’s not the first time but i thought i just misremembered it last time. No doubt this time. Very tedious behavior.

Holy terrain manipulator [Information]

I always had a sneaky suspicion in the back of my mind that using the smallest-area setting on the terrain manipulator would get more resources from big mineral deposits. Why have I never tried it until now? The difference is STAGGERING.

I mined a deposit of emeril on the biggest-area setting and got about 80.

I then mined another emeril deposit on the smallest setting and got 1600. Yeah, it took a lot longer, but the difference is worth it.

This is probably well-known already, but dayum.

Is it just me or are sentinels the worst thing in the game? [Suggestion]

Now i dont know if this is a "hot take" or not but to me sentinels are really the only thing bringing this game down for me. i'd probably spend a hell of a lot more time playing this game if sentinels didnt exist and were entirely replaced.

dont get me wrong i understand why you fight sentinels... or at least i think i do, and that is mainly to maintain the low age rating. The game certainly wouldnt maintain such a rating if you were killing humanoid targets.

but that aside am i wrong in thinking that it would be so much more fun if they completely overhauled this system? i mean in my opinion the way it should work is that sectors of space should be owned by different species, much like it is now, and in each owned solar system the governing force would be said species. you would gain a wanted level by doing much of the same stuff you get it for nowadays and instead of boring nameless robots coming at you instead the first wanted level would send, say, gek foot soldiers if on a gek planet. after it escalates they'd send gek in exocraft, my best idea would be the hover bike thing (the name eludes me) with the ultimate wanted level bringing not sentinel walkers but instead gek piloting the mech suit. to me this would be SO much more fun, as it stands sentinels are just annoying because they have no relatability. its boring to be chased by empty machines.

this would also lead to a more dynamic system where instead of wanted level and comitting crimes being basically meaningless you could gain bounties in each respective species' systems, where they will come after you if in their system but if you're wanted in gek space and you flee to korvax space you wont be wanted whilst outside of gek owned space. Furthermore comitting sufficient crimes in a specific species area could lead to losing standing with them, ofcourse this would have...

Scrap dealers should sell a unique new system ship. [Suggestion]

id like to see the scrap dealer in space stations sell a single unique ship in each star system. similar to how each system has only one exotic. This ship should be nothing like the other ships in game, like how different the living ship is compared to the others. There have been many great concept ships in art work of the years. Id like to see these ships however only come as small slotted C class broken ships. Cheap to buy, but u can grind away to get the slots fixed and up to full, and raise its class to S. Having it this way would avoid being able to farm S class ships for quick scrapping. People could post their finds on various forums, the way they already post coordinates for great multi tools, ships etc. Systems with no or busted space stations could perhaps have a way of being able to locate them crashed within those systems, maybe being able to purchase a map for these in other systems with scrap dealers or the cartographer. I think it would be a good way to introduce a new ship type to the game without upsetting the established ship pool in each system, and give us something to grind towards , not just something easily obtainable.

Cannot Start a New Expedition and Have a Save from 2016 I cannot delete. Please help! [Question]

As the title says, I have tried to start an expedition. I havent played in years (only at launch). Now it wont let me start an expedition, it says expedition complete. Also, I have a save that won't delete from August 2016. I try to delete it at the menu and it goes away, but then reappears when I restart the game.

I've reinstalled the game, restarted steam, and also manually deleted the save game info in app data/roaming/hellogames folder.

Glitched science terminal [Bug]

Hey guys, my game is telling me that I have to build a science terminal at my base and my overseer urges me to do also. But I haven’t received any blue prints from him as video’s would suggest I should have.

Hope this isn’t a restart my character type mess up where I can’t progress any of the main story due to this as it’s a standstill at the minute.

Freighter rooms always delete when moving things. [Bug]

This has happened so much. Everytime i try to move an item or decoration, the room it was previously in deletes itself for no reason. I don't even select the room. Everything inside the room also disappears. Reloading saves and resetting the game doesn't even fix this.

What can i do to stop this from happening?? It's almost impossible to build or move anything.

How to use nomnom save editor to move my save from ms to steam? [Question]

I downloaded nomnom save editor so I could move my save from Microsoft to steam. It recognizes my Microsoft save and both of my worlds show up but it doesnt say anything about the steam version. When I click platform transfer it asks for destination. I dont know what to select so I selected the steam version of NMS on my hard drive. After that nothing happens. It has a thing at the bottom that says LID, UID, and USN. It has a bunch of numbers and my username. On the right side of these boxes its blank like I'm supposed to type something in? I dont understand what I'm supposed to do. Theres no finish button or anything that I can find. Am i supposed to click one of the options on the left? Theres edit account data, open account data json editor, edit save data, open save data json editor, guide, and catalogue. All options are grayed out except for edit save data and catalogue.

Do i still have ownership of bases across save files if i travel via portals? [Discussion]

What i mean is, if i have two save files and in one save i manage to get all the portal glyphs such that i can actually travel to my other save file's bases, would i still have control over them? Im not sure if theyre owned by user or by save.

If the answer is yes, then i suppose if i mark down glyph coordinates, i can access any base ive ever made, and not need the save files (unless i want ships, etc).

I have an original save file where ive built out my biggest base. But in a separate file, during an expedition i managed to get all the portal glyphs, which i havent had a chance to invest time doing on the original save.

Scratch One Permadeath Save [Discussion]

I made it to within 9 kLY of the core before falling off a cliff to my death. Got complacent and forgot I was low on health. Oh well. The next time around, I need to figure out better methods for storage expansion and commodity farming. And maybe not grind so much lol. See you in the next iteration!

Bug: Learning Atlas words when in multiplayer [Bug]

I can't find anyone else that seems to have seen this bug. I'm playing multiplayer with a friend, and while traveling about a system with an Atlas station doing normal planetside things, my friend went to the Atlas station in the system, and while they were there, I learned Atlas words instead of them. As they ran around the Atlas station, I kept learning words and they didn't get any.

Has anyone else ever seen or heard of this bug?

What is the community like in game, and other questions about multiplayer [Question]

Got the game on Christmas and have loved it, but i have some questions about the multiplayer aspect of the game. From what i sort of gathered, is it true you can run into random players while randomly exploring on a planet? If so how do players normally act? (Im aware there will always be trolls, but how many are trolls?). My main base is on someones planet, and I've seen no sign of any other players, is settling down on someones planet generally frowned apon? Or is it a normal thing?

Lastly is there anyway to just fully disable the online players aspect and just keep things like already discovered locations?

I'm preparing to do a comprehensive guide as to the most efficient route to the center of the galaxy in permadeath/survival.

It will include: - Which resources to stock up on (and what amount), - what to craft and most essentially, - what to ignore

It's meant for those players, that want the achievements, but don't really like the modes, so I want to trim all the fat for them, but without cheesing the system (teleport to a base near the center).

Any ideas, suggestions or tips from you guys?

They should add multiplayer to this game. [Discussion]

Yes, I know they already have "Multiplayer". Well, if you want to call it that. With the way it currently is, it's annoying to even bother with. Everything you do, is more efficient and easier as solo. Even Nexus missions which sole purpose is to add multiplayer activities, don't even work well. More times then not, it seems to send me to one planet to do one thing, and the other group member to another planet to do something else. (Yes, we are in group and have queued together in the mission panel.)

Why do I say it's more efficient in singleplayer? Well, freighter is the biggest reason. For some reason they only allow one freighter, which would be fine and manageable if all group members could access the freighter be it the storage, exocraft summon, or inventory. So with the way modules and tech take up so much inventory space(And you ships can't have many in the actual tech inventory..) I found it to be most optimal to store everything in my freighter, leaving the inventories for upgrades/tech mostly.

I go to a star system, spawn my freighter, land on a planet, and then summon exocraft. Giving me access to all my resources, my crafts, etc and still having all my inventory space open on my exosuit/ship. Then I think, oh, this game has multiplayer lets invite a friend to make it better. But then hit with the reality that the game in almost every way is worse when you have group members.

Then you have questing. Making sure we all answer the same, ask the same questions, talk to NPC's in the same order, make sure we are on the same active quest. It's like at every turn, we are fighting to stay in group. The multiplayer in this game is just a glorified group chat.

Solutions: Allow multiple freighters obviously. There is no reason not to do this. Or at minimum, allow each party member to use features of the present freighter, this way the user with the best...

I set up the computer but it won’t let me extract data from it to build timber so I can’t progress. I’m not sure what to do or if I have to delete the save file and start over.

"Fired" from my overseer's chair for incompetence? [Bug]

I became an overseer of a settlement several days ago, and everything was going fine, but once, after resolving one question from citizens, I went to the building site to give them more materials. The problem is - the building terminal says "reserved for the Overseer", and overseer's terminal is saying the same thing. Also an obelisk at the middle of the settlement now has "report" button, like I'm a visit or, not an overseer. When using portal, the settlement is still marked as "my settlement", but settlement itself doesn't want to admit it. Was I really "fired" for resolving that conflict in a wrong way? What do I do now?

Snowy planet that isn't "freezing" [Question]

New player here!

Im having a blast playing this game, currently going through the main stories.

Once i finish them, i want to settle down on a snowy planet.

My question is, are all snowy planets inherently frozen, and require hazard protection? Or are there planets that are snowy but do not require hazard protection?

If the answer is no, is there any type of upgrade/method to not have to use hazard protection?

Looking for a new starship [Question]

So I am looking for a new starship but all the starships I see don't look very appealing but I am also on the hunt for exotic starships I see them all the time in the anomaly but I have only found one once and that was after a few hours into the game whilst I was still figuring things out but where I am at in the story prevents me from going back to that system and trying to find it again but I would imagine they spawn in systems with good economies and unfortunately the system I am in and it's surrounding systems have developing economies and I can't find a system with a developed economy are there any tips for finding systems with developed economies

I recently had a discussion with a friend and they brought up how there were companies that paid people to do custom world-building and such in Minecraft do you think such a potential holds for No Man's sky? Well stacked [Question]

Dear brain trust.

How on earth do you build mineral extractors and silos on top of each other ( see numerous previous posts with huge towers of them)?

I have snap to turned on, one may site itself on top of another, but this takes numerous attempts and even then it's lopsided, and can't place anything on top of that.

I tried for over an hour last night , ended up building an upper floor and placed that way.

Any advice mucho appreciated.

Tips for FPS boost [Question]

My game is currently about 15-20 fps. I already tried upgrading the NumHighThreads to 3 and NumLowThreads to 1, but it does not seem to work as well as some people say. Ive seen a lot of people talk about disable gsync, but that setting does not appear when I open TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML. My graphics are all in padronized and I cant find any other way of fixing the problem. Hope someone can help

Excited to be back. But don’t know where to re-start from. [Question]

Finally got my hands on a ps5 and decided to reinstall NMS on the new system.

Super excited to be back into it and didn’t realize how much I’ve missed the game !!

Feeling overwhelmed on all the stuff I missed out on and looking for some input on what to do next to re-immerse myself into the game.

I have an A class frigate, 400 million credits, 15,000 Nanites, four exotic ships, and an S class fighter.

Haven’t played since 2019. I was stoked to see that I was able to increase the storage on my exotics which always was their downfall so that’s new, at least to me.

Any suggestions on where to pick up from ?

I'd be more willing to keep sending my frigates out to other worlds if there were some sort of "ultra rare" item they could come back with once in awhile. [Discussion]

I'm thinking like posters,, piece of some mural, other base equipment odds and ends... stuff like that. Otherwise, I'm already finding it hard to justify sending out ships just to find stuff I'll only end up selling. It's hard to spend anything, and my finances are already at cap.

At this point, I'm stripping ships for the compressed indium strips and giving that away at the nexus.

No Starship Launch Fuel plans in the fourth expedition? [Question]

I've started the Emergance expedition today. I've played it before when it was first available, and don't remember encountering any difficulties, but for some reason the reward didn't register for my user, so I thought about replaying it.

Starting out the expedition, I've located my starship, fixed its system, took off to the nearest space station... then landed on a nearby planet to get Chromatic Metal for the hyperdrive, and... I don't seem to be able to craft a Starship Launch Fuel? Do I need to do something to unlock it? Is that a bug? A feature?

Have I lost my ship's entire cargo ? [Bug]

Hi! I just went to jump to my freighter and my ship got stuck in the collision box with it as I exited the pulse drive, I couldn't move or get out so I just waited to die assuming I'd respawn somewhere and be able to get my stuff back. Only, when I respawned I spawn on top of the local space station with no way inside and died trying to run all the way around to the docking port.

I still have all my of exo-suit inventory, but nothing on my ship, does this mean i've lost all of my gear from my ship with no way to recover it ??

Suggestion to improve the player experience [Suggestion]

Starting with multiplayer: Allow multiple freighters in a star system. There is no reason not to allow this from what I can tell. If there is a reason, then substitute by Option 1: allowing players in group to utilize the one that is spawned. Option 2: allow players to despawn there freighter the same way they can spawn it. Group Mission/Questing. If you start a new save with friends, and are in group, then obviously you will be progressing together. There should be a group quest/mission system that allows the group to progress these together, rather than having to constantly have conversations like, "What is your active quest?", "What option did you pick to say to the guy?", "Who did you talk to get that quest?", "Have you talked to this guy?". We are always trying to make sure we are progressing together but it's a battle to do so. I was going to say group base building. There is a base computer, it should allow you to add/remove people to the base as builders, visitors, etc. But I see there is a way to change your network settings to do something similar. Open for more ideas / others suggestions.

Quality of Life: Allow players to turn off missions/Quests and or cancel them. Fix the delay of mission/quest object HUD showing at the bottom right of the screen. I am constantly waiting for it to pop up and tell me what it wants me to do. Fix the quest hopping issue. When you are working on one quest/quest line, it will change your active tasks to a different one. Super annoying...

Cosmetics and New Content: Add more ship styles. Sure, there are a lot of possible arrangements of parts on the ships, but there's only a hand full of base types for each base ship model. They also kind of look similar in almost all cases. Ship customization, similar to the appearance station. Allow us to change the wings, the paint color, add decals, etc. More diverse space stations, they...

Okay so i got the urge to play this game again but i always play it alone as i dont really have any friends who play this game, especially none that are willing to play permadeath.

Im looking for ideally just one other person as i tend to get along better with just one other person but im open to more. but i just dont know where to go about finding people to play with.

Solo vs Multiplayer [Question]

I've heard it said that there are no stupid questions, but I have what feels like a very stupid question. I haven't figured out the right way to phrase my question to make it google-able so here I am. It's also something that I'm pretty sure everyone else would have just found out by trying, but I'm an overly cautious player.

Okay so- I've got about 12 hours of playtime in on a Solo game. I'm really lucky that I've found a planet I LOVE and I've got a good base set up. Here's the stupid question. If I switch to Multiplayer is that a new save? Or does my existing save somehow just integrate into the wider NMS universe? This feels like a stupid question- it must just be a new save. But I've been to scared to click anything to find out, at the risk of jeopardizing my current save, planet, and base, which I'm very attached to. Like I said, way overly cautious. Thanks for not making fun of me for this question.

Multiplayer - Only 1 Freighter allowed work around [Information]

Ok, so after a lot of testing. I figured out a work around for those who play in a group with friends but can't spawn all of your freighters. It's simple to do. Get in group, meet up in place on a planet. All of you open Settings > Network. Then turn multiplayer off and leave group. (Everyone will disappear.) Everyone spawn your freighters. Everyone Turn multiplayer back on. One of you place your save beacon (Only tested this with 2 people, so if you have a group of more than 2, you may all need to place a save beacon.) After doing this, everyone should appear.

NOTES: You can get back in group by holding the interact key on each other but doing this will remove all the freighters from the sky. YOU WILL ALL STILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR FREIGHTER INVENTORY, STORAGE, AND EXOSUMMON STILL DO NOT SPAWN ANY OF YOUR FREIGHTERS after doing this work around, or everyone will lose access besides the one who spawned there's.

Not sure if anyone knows about this, but I couldn't find any solution online so I found one in game myself. Hope it helps you. Also not sure which flair I should use for the post, hopefully I got it right.

Help please? [Question]

On my main save of 300 hrs , everytime I start it up , I can play for maybe 2-3 minutes before it freezes up and closes out of the game entirely. Multiplayer is off but I'm stuck in a heavily occupied system. Its only on this save file as I can play my survival,perm and other normal just fine. Is this save file lost?

The Worm expedition is such a great (and terrifying) addition to No Mans Sky and I hope they keep up this kind of stuff up. [Discussion]

I missed the 3rd and 4th expeditions initially so being able to play them finally has been so damn cool. I just started the 4th expedition and it feels so different from the 3rd, I was mostly just walking the entire time during the Cartographer expedition, and I start the 4th and I actually feel threatened, this is such a great theme to base an expedition on. It's an entire new experience being on the starting planet knowing it's just crawling with these beasts.

This is so goddamn cool is basically my point. Super excited to finish this one and I hope we get a 5th sometime this year.

Can't Access Antimatter [Bug]

Hey guys, I just got this game and I'm playing on the PS5 and vr. I'm freaking loving it except for now I have a mission to obtain an antimatter signal, and I've looked it up and they're supposed to be a building, but the signal keeps popping up underneath the volcano... which I have no access to. I've seen some people have had a similar problem with the building rendering underground, and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do at this point?? I can't move any further into the game until I pass this point.

Obviously I don't want to start over from scratch, especially if it's just going to happen again, so any advice would be much appreciated!!

Finally got No Man's. [Discussion]

Upgrading vs Finding S-Class and ELI5 Ship seeds? [Question]

So currently hunting for a ship I found that I love and it's in a T3 system! I've seen numerous A class and kinda wanna call it so I'm just asking to reassure. I've seen some people say upgrading to A to S there isn't a difference because there's a ship seed... Hey it’s me again. For some reason I feel bad when making these posts Bc I’ve done it two days in a row now basically lol

Anyways as the title says I am wondering if ships can fly thru your buildings. I’ve searched for it in this sub but didn’t find anything and looked online but didn’t see anything either.

Reason I’m asking is Bc I have a build I’m doing that’s in the air and I’m too far into it to move it down a little bit. As I’m building I would see two-three ships fly near my build and they will fly over it but I don’t know if I am at the right height where they will do so or if they are going over it.

How to reduce stuttering? [Question]

Come back to Frontiers after a long hiatus and done the Numthreads fix but there's still stuttering. Any tips/tricks to remove the laggy feel other than reduce all graphical settings?

This game is amazing but when I freeze frame when leaving an atmosphere or on-planet, it's pretty immersion breaking

Can I prevent NPC ships from flying through my base? [Question]

I decided to make a floating base. As I'm building, an NPC ship flies straight through my base, hits me, and knocks me off onto the planet surface. It's happend 2 times already. I've read that I could have built it too high or too close to a settlement or some other permanent structure. Is there a way to prevent the ships from flying through my base or at the very least from knocking me off of it? Thanks everyone

Just Finished The Expedition [Screenshot]

It's strange to think that I bought this game back in October and have played nigh nothing else since then. 400+ hours in and I still find myself always having just one more thing to do before bed. I thought after getting platinum that I would take a break for a little bit, but then I got hooked on these expeditions, and their scheduling worked out perfectly for my limited playing time over the holidays.

Just beat expedition 4 in one fell swoop tonight. Yeah, I just spent a straight 6.5 hours on this beast because that's what this game does to me.

What is your normal process of exploring a new planet? [Question]

Let's assume the planet isn't some dead planet or paradise planet without sentinels. And you don't have a particular mission related to the planet or desired resources.

Most of the time I find a point of interest, land, and start scanning the surrounding. Then place a Signal Booster scan for nearby places or drop pod. Travel there and scan everything along the way while collecting some valuables. Repeat several times then will try to find a trading post or archive to end my journey. Factory or SOS signal is just some good to have and I don't really care about scanning all the animals for more nanities.

Expedition 4: How to get base computer blueprint? [Question]

Trapped in a loop of death in the Hilbert Dimension. [Question]

After resetting the ATLAS simulation I arrived on a planet in the Hilbert Dimension with my inventory empty, my ship missing and all of my equipment broken (scanner, life support, laser etc). This planet is freezing and without cold protection I die within a few minutes. After dying a bunch of times I finally spotted my grave miles and miles away - I've barely enough life to reach it. Unfortunately the grave is empty and I die moments later.

With no access to resources (laser broken) there seems to be no way to survive here. The only positive is that there is cave to hide in. Can't come out though - just die within 30 seconds or so.

What to do?

Does Farm Theft Affect Other Players? [Question]

Back in the early days of the anomaly when visiting players bases from the portal there I would usually visit any "Indium Mine/Farm" etc. bases and take as much as I could carry. How to delete angled windows? [Bug]

I have a base 3 floors high and the top floor is the glass bio dome. On the second floor i have the square rooms and put some angled windows on the walls. Now I want to expand my base, but as soon as I try to delete the windows it deletes the complete room and the bio dome PLUS all my plants with it and doesn't even give the materials back. I had to load an one hour old save just because of that.

Somebody else discovered having problems with moving/ deleting parts of the base and loosing all the stuff while doing that?

How can I delete JUST the window out of that room?

Question about saving progress. [Question]

Can anyone explain to me how the whole saving works in this game, like what I mean is how comes your plants grow and everything while you're offline meaning that the server is somehow updating your structures in some way, yet if you build something and disconnect without saving the server does not keep what you have made. And if you disconnect without saving your plants continue to grow and settlement timers go down too.

Regarding base computer and the “Base archives” secondary quest line. [Question]

I made a mess of my first play, didn’t play far so I started a new save. I was thinking about the first base computer and the activated story/quest lines that follows, both primary and secondary. Then when leaving the first system for the Artemis quest there will be more base computers built/used. What I felt was kinda “everywhere” and messy was the base archives wich kinda was all over the place with the base computers. It sometimes wanted me to go to a base computer I used only for poi then getting there the game suddenly wanted me to go to another base… it was kinda quirky.

What about that? Are we supposed to create bases everywhere? The game clearly doesn’t know what base we want to use as a “primary” base (where the base archives logically would be updated). Or are we supposed to delete the first base?

Can’t get my head around it.

Do you let your starships keep their original names? [Discussion]

By conscious choice that is, not just because you can't be bothered to change it.

I recently bought a real little gem (at least for a new player), an A-class fighter called The Skylark of Truth, for the rather modest sum of 2.5 million units. I decided I wouldn't be changing its name, even though I could probably think of a hundred better ideas. It just feels... I don't know... inappropriate. Like some sort of hubris or ungratefulness on my part.

Same goes for Artemis's crashed ship, which in my game was called the Aimitomi (I like to imagine it's named after a person or place of significance to Artemis). I patched it back together and kept its old name.

Incompatible save? [Bug]

I havent played since 2020 but im trying to join my friend, my save file said i need to upgrade, i did some googling and did the whole hop out of the ship to save thing, went back to main menu, tried joining again, and now it doesnt tell me i need to upgrade but it still wont let me join with my previous save, its just blacked out. googling isnt helping me at all at this point.

Loving the game so far. However my friend and I found a space anomaly which we realized that there were other real life players in there too. One of the players gave us a really expensive item which was sold for 75 million. I used the money to buy a much nicer spaceship with more storage, but it feels like I'm cheating to get ahead since the money wasn't earned. I'd have to admit the game is easier with a better spacecraft. Thoughts? Should I just toss it and grind for the money to get a real experience

Game deleted all my plants in my bio dome.. [Discussion]

First of all I waited 4 hours for my plants to grow. As none of them did a single thing (even the frozen ones which take only 1 hour to grow) I looked at them with my analysis vision and it said ∞ for the growth time. A quick research gave me the information to replant the plants to make them grow normal again. As I picked up my frozen plant and replanted it the game deleted the HOLE bio dome and all the plants that were inside.. I didn't even got the materials for the plants and the dome back. What the hell is that bug? This is game breaking as all my 5 biodomes have the same ∞ bug on every plant..

New and Prefer Creative Mode [Discussion]

I'm new, and after struggling some with two separate starts I decided to test out creative mode. It's really great. It doesn't appear that many prefer creative on here - or am I mistaken?

I would like to see some changes, though. There needs to be more 'collectibles' and things to chase that you don't get automatically. It needs rewards for doing missions - and sending fleet ships out - that don't break the general point of creative mode. I also think it'd be interesting if sentinels could be brought in with a bit more threat - and space battles had consequences (eg. based on how quickly you win; percentage of shots that hit targets; number of shots hitting friendlies, etc make the quality of the freighter and ships higher or something?). Finally - improve bases so that we have reasons to build them for more than just enjoying building for its own sake. Not sure how though.

Expedition 4 question: How can you tell where to go when there is no rendezvous icon? [Question]

In the quest 'Their Lost Children' you need to collect ancient bones. I know what I'm looking for once I'm in the area, but the scanner says 'Too weak for distance estimate' no matter how far I travel. It stands to reason that it's on another planet, but how do you know which one? I have the quest selected, but the star map only shows the mission for rendezvous 5 and the scanner gives the same error there. Please advise.

Freighter/storage questions. [Question]

Hey guys and gals, I've only recently started playing this again after getting an XBX Series X for xmas and it literally popped up on my dash as a 'PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REINSTALL ME' so I'm back and have put in a few hours just trying to remember how to play and what I was doing last year when I played it. So I've just done the Mind Arc section I dont know where that is in the grand scheme of things?!? Anyway I have a new Freighter and exchanged it with the free one you're given, but I wanted some advice on storage on the ship, when storing things do you keep them as their base material eg Carbon or would you refine it to Condensed Carbon? And the same with all the other resources? Like Ferrite been Magnetised Ferrite? Also is it worth having stacks of Chromatic Metal as my star ships are full of it. And above everything else, are my resources safe or can they be raided/destroyed?

Harvesting in size glitched biodome? [Question]

I've seen from this subreddit that one can glitch-build a giant-sized biodome. I've also seen that one can wire-glitch extra plants into biodomes and they get harvested automatically along with the plants in the planter positions. So, do these two glitches combine? Can I create an enormous biodome, fill it with zillions of plants, and harvest them all at once?

Help! Can't reset mission after sinking 80+ hours into campaign. [Question]

I'm stuck on the 16/16 mission where I had to upload all 16 materials into the slots, but there were no "leylines" visible to actually activate the portal. Nothing came up to screenshot coordinates and I couldn't see any options like "activate portal."

I looked for advice everywhere online but could only find NMS forums from over two years ago, with people suggesting to jump +50 times away from the mission to reset.

I have jumped and jumped and jumped potentially +10,000 ly away from the mission but I still don't see an option to reset it. (Even if this works, that completely sucks to have to do each time resetting is necessary.)

To make things worse, once I left the portal I noticed there was no beacon for it so I can find my way back to it.

This is extremely frustrating as I absolutely adore this game most of the time, I thought it was encouraged to do the missions in whichever order you please. Apparently that completely fucks up this 16/16 mission if you do things in-between. Would've loved to have that warning, as bouncing from mission to mission has been somewhat overwhelming anyways.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, I feel so lost in the game now I just feel like restarting. My base sucks too and I have no idea how to lay it out or design it so it looks pleasant.

Issue with Named Planets Systems [Question]

On a PS5, been playing for a while now and as I discover systems/planets I like giving them (what I think are creative names). Up until today, when I viewed my discoveries all the names I'd given them were there. But now all the system and planetary names have reverted to their defaults. My base names remained the same but everything else is gone. Did something happen between yesterday and today? Is this a known bug or is it just me (and something I did)?

Most importantly, anyway to get the names back? Or is the only option to go back and rename them all? :-(

Infinite Nanites [Bug]

Has anyone else had it happen where they can infinitely use the abandoned building terminals over and over until another player interacts with it?

Therefore getting like 150 nanites every use, I looked it up and I don't see it anywhere else, yet I also don't know how it happened, I have died and can warp yet it happens with every abandoned building I go to until someone else uses it.

I've just built my first Activated Indium farm but noticed something weird... [Question]

I'm running my base on solar power as there were no EM spots nearby. When the solar panels close down for the night, all my extractors stop mining even though the stored power in the grid (batteries) is really high, anyone know why this is?

On average, how much time do you spend on each planet/system? [Discussion]

I used to spend a lot of time on each planet and each system. But now that I'm able to make hypercells easily and units are no longer an obstacle.

I find myself jumping into a system, explore every planet and moon for a bit. Taking pictures and bouncing to the next system within about an hour(depending on how awesome the system). I've started to get into this "There's so much to explore, so little time" eye twitch mentality.

Hello everyone, I am an old player (kinda) been playing since the NEXT Update/Xbox release and I been loving this game alot since then however, I could and still can't get a grasp/understand the Normal mode of the game and have always been a creative player. I tried Normal non stop over the course of my playtime and I just can't for the love of this game get into it. I guess it's because I get too overwhelmed by all of the stuff you have to do like repair the ship, constantly repair your exosuit/multitool, and other stuff. It sucks because I WANT to play it and I WANT to get better and most of all I WANT to experiance this game in it's most pure/true form but I just get too flustered/overwhelmed and just go back to creative. I also don't have alot of friends who play this game so it's even more rough for me. But yeah I love this game so much and I love the team over at Hello Games. I just wish I wasn't too stupid to grasp all of this because it isn't the games fault. It's mine. But how do y'all feel? Saving [Question]

So I saved my game and reloaded (due to multi tool being offset) however it didn’t save where I had been at that point. I had around 45 million units/credits and when I loaded back in I was back down to around 30 million from before I sold stuff. This game makes me emontional. [Discussion]

Hey there me again (if you seen my last post) I wanted to make a different one and talk about how I feel..when playing No Mans Sky and why I ove this game alot. Now I will say to me this may sound odd to alot of you and if it does I apologize but basically...

I gotten into this game around the time NMS came out on Xbox, I knew about the game beforhand and I always wanted it (despite the negative reviews about it) when my dad got the game for me I lost it in a good way lol.

To make this story short I played the shit out of it, took breaks from it, got back into it, etc. I just recently got back into it and alot has happened in my life since then and one of those is the passing of my father back in 2019..

Whenever I play the game now I get so emontinal, I always think about the day he got it for me, how he was happy I was happy, how he sometimes watched me play it, etc. My dad was amazing and the best dad I could've asked for and whenever I play this game I like to think he's out there somewhere in the NMS universe..

Just waiting for me to come find him and go on amazing adventures. I know he's not in the game I ain't crazy but it's just what my heart wants to believe.. The universe in NMS is basically Infinite so anything you can think of COULD be possible..

But yeah sorry for this random post, just been emontinal lately and thinking about him and wanted to share this with y'all, if you have something simliar to this please let me know below <3

More than one freighter [Suggestion]

So i had this little idea like what if you could have more than 1 freighter? Like lets say that if you get a capital freighter you could buy 5 more small freighters which could be used to increase your space ship storage and each one could give you access to 5 more fregats

I mean freighters that spawn normally also have like 3 you can enter

Question about Storm crystals. [Question]

Do they not alway spawn on an extreme weather planet, I’ve been running around in this 300°c storm for ages and cannot seem to find a single crystal. NMS Fandom said they spawn on Extreme Weather planets with extreme storms but I don’t think it said anything about chance. Either way I’m in need of storm crystals and it’s getting frustrating now.

Exosuits are basically magic, hear me out [Discussion]

This is not serious really, just bored bedtime thoughts, feel free to add to my headcanon

Jetpacks are just that, jetpacks only according the the NMS wiki, so they don't hold any upgrades or inventory, even the upgrades for the jetpack aren't technically installed in/on the jetpack itself, they go in the Technology part of the exosuit.

Exosuits hold ALL your inventory which includes upgrades. Not only does the exosuit have 3 separate spaces for inventory (General, Technology, and Cargo) they also have the ability to gain more, regardless of the character size you chose, without changing the look as you gain more or fill them.

So here's my main questions-

Q1) How can everyone of different shapes and sizes get the same size inventory without changing the way their suit looks and how does filling them not show on the outside? Do we have bodies inside or are we just heads, hands and feet with an empty robotic torso with modular slots waiting to be filled with any possible equipment and/or items regardless of size or shape?

Q2) How can I hold 5 Storm Crystals that are the same size or taller than my character in the same 1 block of general inventory but only 1 Historical Document that I think is safe to assume is the size of a normal book, maybe a little thick but not the size of a Storm Crystal.

Q3) How can you move an installed technology from one place to another without any issue or a change in appearance?

Magic! Your exosuit is just magic, kinda like the suitcase from that weird Harry Potter movie about the magic critters, it holds things in a space outside reality waiting for you to call on them and bring them back just by deciding to or until you "will them back" if you prefer.

Fire Extinguisher for Multi-Tool [Suggestion]

I'm pretty sure you all are aware of some planets that patches of fire around some planets in the game, with the "Wall of Fire" storm causing the fire to spread erratically, as well as cause new flames to randomly appear.

Well, it comes building a mass-productive Cobalt farm, it can be ridiculous to deal with these flames.

How about a little suggestion to get rid of the flames earlier than normal? How about a fire extinguisher on the Multi-Tool? Recharging it would require Dioxite. I'm unsure what it would take to install such technology, but it would be a nice addition.

Help! Can't reset mission after sinking 80+ hours into campaign. [Question]

I'm stuck on the 16/16 mission where I had to upload all 16 materials into the slots, but there were no "leylines" visible to actually activate the portal. Nothing came up to screenshot coordinates and I couldn't see any options like "activate portal."

I looked for advice everywhere online but could only find NMS forums from over two years ago, with people suggesting to jump +50 times away from the mission to reset.

I have jumped and jumped and jumped potentially +10,000 ly away from the mission but I still don't see an option to reset it. (Even if this works, that completely sucks to have to do each time resetting is necessary.)

To make things worse, once I left the portal I noticed there was no beacon for it so I can find my way back to it.

This is extremely frustrating as I absolutely adore this game most of the time, I thought it was encouraged to do the missions in whichever order you please. Apparently that completely fucks up this 16/16 mission if you do things in-between. Would've loved to have that warning, as bouncing from mission to mission has been somewhat overwhelming anyways.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, I feel so lost in the game now I just feel like restarting. My base sucks too and I have no idea how to lay it out or design it so it looks pleasant.

Squidship worth a slot? [Question]

Cleaning my house and scrapping ships, happened to see one of the squidships flying out of the station as I walked back to my controller after washing dishes. These squids seem to all look identical, after ~300 hours this is the first one I’ve encountered. Even the living ships seem to have much more variety, forgive me for not handling well their wet-juiciness… Are squiddies fun to pilot or are they just rare clones of themselves?

Mission to get activated copper isn’t working [Question]

I have the mission to locate activated copper, found it on an awful planet and mined it, but the mission isn’t counting it as achieved. Is this a bug?

The same thing happened with finding uranium. I have over the 250 requirement but it’s not progressing.

TIL: You can repeatedly use Star Charts until a distress beacon (ship) appears [Information]

I really enjoy flying around and recovering crashed ships, but when I use a star chart odds are, it’s usually an abandoned building, so off I go, get there, do the thing, then use another one…..

I just found out you can keep using the chart and it’ll tag one of each object type. I.e, abandoned building, crashed ship, crashed freighter etc.

If the RNG brings up another object you’ve already got on the map, then it’ll fail and show an error, but keep using the chart and then you’ll get the other item types.

Word of warning, I did this a few times on the same planet and ended up going back to a distress signal I’d already visited and there was no ship there.

May be obvious but after 80 hours I just found it out.

Help a metaphorically lost traveler [SPOILERS] [Spoiler]

Hi y'all,

Sorry in advance for the wall of text...

I've recently completed the main storylines (Artemis and Atlas Path) and I've really been enjoying the game so far, but now I have a few issues.

First, how on earth do I get to a chosen galaxy? I've seen a few answers online, but nothing clear.

I know one way is to travel to the centre of the galaxy, but that's over 600K light years away and would take forever.

I've seen that you can change galaxies after the Atlas path quest, but I've no idea how.

I've seen people using glyph co-ordinates, but I've no idea how to use them. I'm guessing they're for the large, portal, shrine type things on planets? No idea lol...

I also know you can use the anomaly and travel to other people's bases, but I know 'perfect paradise planets' can be hard to find, and I don't want to be invading other people's space (I also like my own space). Or is that not how it works? Are the galaxies big enough to pretty much never run into anyone?

Second, I've no idea what to do next!

This is more of a fun, less frustrating issue. I know there's no 'one way' to play the game, and I'm free to do what I want, but I don't want to 'waste my time' so to speak.

I have a few ideas, and would like some opinions on them and to see what others did after the main quests.

I want to make a few bases and settlements, but don't want to spend ages making them in a galaxy I might not stay in. Is it worth doing so anyway? Or should I wait until I get to my preferred galaxy?

I'd also like to find some more ships/freighters etc. but again, I don't want to waste my time upgrading/fixing average ships. It seems to take me a long time at the moment, but will that get easier as I progress through the game? I'm only about 25 hours in, so I'm very new to this game but I'd like to hear what people think.

Does HDR not work proparly on PC? [Question]

I have a samsung odyssey g9 neo which does have HDR. but whenever I try to use any of the HDR 400, 600, 1000 HDR options everything looks oversaturated or deep fried?

Is HDR implementation just not working yet? I have no issues with HDR on any other games like apex legends or doom.

How about a 'Battle Beacon' Buildable Icon? [Suggestion]

This game is awesome <3 People here have so many cool ideas so heres mine... maybe.. (:

A player could place a 'Battle Beacon' on the ground. When activated it sets up a PvP Arena in a ~300unit radius (or whatever). The player could edit things like Time Open/Radius etc, but it would allow a PvP Space for Players to Battle In, and at the end the Game could reward each player with Nanites depending on there standings or kills in the Arena. You could have it so any Death in the PvP Arena just respawns players inside the PvP Arena, so no losses in terms of Inventory etc.

Of course you could make it so everyone has to vote in, so everyone has to opt-in. But this could allow proper PvP Matches with rewards, anywhere in the Universe - PvP Bases, Open Areas, Underwater, etc etc. And this way it isnt forced on anyone (:

Best Ways to Get Up to Speed [Discussion]

I haven't invested any serious time in NMS for two or three years but I'm very familiar with the basics. All the starter guides I've seen are garbage. I started a new game for a fresh look and am working on upgrading my inventory and equipment.

What are some things you've found that are helpful in getting up to speed? I've got a freighter already and am trying to generate income to improve multi tools and starships.

Is there any method to find starship crashes? It seems like the old exploit was fixed. Is there a better method for generating income than mining indium or Emeril?

Permadeath Like a Boss [Information]

Permadeath can be fun

Tl;dr bullet list of tips

· First thing to do is find a cave before you die

· Craft ion batteries and life support gel. Later, buy these items and ensure you always have loads.

· Grab salvaged data and unlock a medium refiner as soon as you can, ensure you know your refiner tricks such as infinite carbon and chlorine expansion etc. O2 is your friend, so get a portable O2 harvester too.

· Scan everything and do whatever you can for nanites so you can unlock upgrades which help you survive. Also, guild and nexus missions often reward nanites too. Guild missions stack, so you can kill 10 creatures/pirates and complete several missions in one go.

· Use existing structures (such as trade centre or hub) for your bases, especially early on.

· Purchase S class hazard protection for each type ASAP (heat, cold, radiation, toxic)

· Get a good ship and get top class shield and install your favourite weapons, otherwise a hostile sub scan could end you

· Upgrade shield in exosuit, and get a decent gun. Keep creature pellets if you hate killing stuff.

· Follow Artemis path to get all glyphs and get to the centre quick. Whilst doing The Purge mission, you can do Atlas Path too, then you can get +3 health cores for having remembrance and starseed.

· If you have expedition rewards, such as Golden Vector or sandworm pet, claim them as they are very useful. Though, if you wanna be really hardcore maybe don’t.

· Never ever ever use grenade-type weapons such as geology canon. Just,.. no.

· Later in the game when you have a freighter, get the orbital exocraft summoning station and make sure your favourite craft has all types of hazard protection, then you will be rolling!

· Never save in freighter as...

Any location with good up-to-date NMS Datamining information? [Question]

As the title suggest, I'm always in the need for some speculative information in regards to what might be coming down the road. And have always been impressed by how many things did show up via datamining current patches (Previous ones were the Exocraft, Minotaur, swamp planets, ect)

The trouble is I find it a bit of a slog to google around to find any dedicated link/place that may feature someone just uploading posts of stuff they found via datamining and tries to keep it current/up to date.

I see people with aliens ships, I see people find robotic fauna, I see people finding massive creatures, etc. I just beat the main story and now it says a new galaxy awaits. Have I already seen everything, but have had bad luck? Or is there more to see in another galaxy? [Question]

I’ve been to every color system and don’t see anything but basic ships and basic deer-like/sized creatures. Same with the planets :( the trailer is way cooler than my gameplay.

Just did my first derelict freighter and now I'm INTENSELY motion sick. [Discussion]

I've played the game for over 100 hours and never had this happen, but I just did the event for the expedition and holy shit....I'm sitting here sweating profusely and feel like I need to go lay down in a cold pool or something so I can stop being so nauseated.

This same thing happened when I played DeadSpace, and the very close over the shoulder view with the fairly restricted, slow walking was a very similar aesthetic, so I guess it has something to do with the way that motion goes or the restricted field of view.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Went through a portal but my ship stayed behind [Discussion]

I recently started a new game on survival to get to the galaxy core. I got to the story line in the Artemis quest where you activate a portal (2nd time, first time you just go in and out real quick). The only action was the request this planet's glyphs. After talking with Apollo I decided to go back to the portal and see if I could teleport near the galaxy core. When I activated the portal it didn't let me punch in any glyphs but the portal turned on. I figured, what the hey, I'll walk through and see where I end up, maybe I'll be able to enter in glyphs on the other side.

Nope, I've landed on a weird planet with no ship in sight. Also, I can build anything, I was going to throw down a save beacon but my construction menu doesn't even come up. I'm unable to summon my ship, or other ships, or even my freighter. I'm thinking I just have to reload my last save since I seem to be bugged.

I do have lots of resources, I could potentially walk around until I find a ship. Planet doesn't appear to have anything that will kill me quick so far. Anyone have this happen to them? Have you ever had to find a whole new ship to leave a planet? It seems weird but it might turn out to be a fun adventure to try and leave this planet. I can't save, I can't build, I just have to survive and find a ship.

So are refiners just permanently fucked? [Bug]

Just got the game before the new year and loving it, literally my only gripe has been the 250k+ materials that I've had vanish from my refiners over the last few days. Mould, nanites, condensed carbon, chromatic metal, everything. Is the only solution to sit there and monitor them for hours while I'm trying to refine all this shit? I just lost about 50k condensed carbon when I stepped out of the base to go talk to a monolith less than a minute away.

Random damage while indoors? [Question]

My new base is both underwater and underground, and this has not, as of yet, caused any significant issues. I was walking around in a newly constructed upper section, and started taking random damage. It made the same sound as getting attacked by dangerous flora. There IS no dangerous flora in this cave, nor is there any fauna whatsoever (all of this planet's fauna are passive, anyways). The damage was minor, but if it happened enough it could quickly drain my health.

This damage has also started happening when I fly the build cam outdoors to build new sections.

Anyone else experienced this? What's going on??

Issue with Settlements [Question]

Issue with Settlements.

Had a class S settlement, then made a decision which caused productivity to drop from 1 mil a day to roughly 950k a day. It’s now a class A settlement, and any decision which would cause productivity to rise back to 1 million doesn’t actually change the productivity per day past 986,744 per day and keeps me at A class. Anyone else experiencing this?

Advice on Sentinels [Question]

New to the game. I found what I believe to be an EXTREMELY lucrative planet with really high value trade items. However, there are aggressive sentinels everywhere, and the base I’ve built doesn’t keep them out if you run inside. Anyone had this problem? Those of you that took a long break from the game and went back to it - was it easy? [Question]

I haven’t played in over a year and I wanted to focus on my backlog of games.

Which I have now done lol.

I’m thinking of getting back into the game but not sure if I should start over or just go back and pick up where I left off.

I’m trying to 100% the game and was making really good headway on a lot of the achievements - I had a lot of hours in the game and it was my most played one.

But I’m not sure if it’s easy to get back into or if it’s just better starting over.

So yeah, how did you find it going back to it? Was it easy to pick up again + learn all of the new stuff? Was it easier starting from fresh?

Stuck in latest Expedition for sand worm [Bug]

I'm on Phase 4 of the most recent expedition to get the sand worm on the 'Reach the 4th Rendezvous point' and the galactic map keeps ending me back and forth between two systems. I can see the dotted line for route, but it won't send me the right way. I've tried going and back a forth and landing on the bases. Logged out of game and then retired, nothing seems to change it.

Any ideas.

A few questions about exchanging freighters. [Question]

I'm still quite new to the game and I've been googling but haven't been quite satisfied yet with what i want to know.

First off, do i have to transfer my freighter's inventory to the other one or my personal inventory before exchanging? Do i have to do the same for storage rooms or will they keep everything in them even when i build them again?

Secondly, can only distressed freighters be bought or any?

Lastly are there any cons to exchanging for a better freighter? Like bugs or potential problems like losing rooms or something?

Ghosts in the Machine Quest bug: infiltrate korvax facility to attract sentinels not working [Bug]

Hi everyone. So I’ve been reading around and we know this mission has glitches. I am unable to fix it so far. I’m on ps4, I’m at the step where you infiltrate a korvax base to attract sentinels, and you’re acting as “bait”. I got to the facility, blasted open the door as the mission told me to, talked to the little robot eye thing and got units, and now nothing is happening. The mission won’t progress.

At some point during the mission I found an ancient warp portal thing in space which randomly took me to another galaxy. The mission had the red swirl next to it (at the time I didn’t know what it could do). I read that I was too far away, so I returned to the original system I was in to finish the mission then this started happening. There isn’t even the red symbol that guides you to where you need to go anymore, I’m lost.

I’m really loving the game and just want to be able to continue!

HELP! Nexus weekend mission unplayable because of cactusflesh.. [Discussion]

I just started the weekend nexus mission where I have to build a new base on a fresh planet. I builded the base computer, 2 bio domes and 6 generators. Now the mission wants me to build animal feeders and stuff where I need to have polyfiber to craft it. Polyfiber is crafted out of star bulb and CACTUSFLESH. There is simply no planet with cactusflesh in this new system. A google search gave me the answer to craft cactusflesh out of pyrite and oxygen which I found. But I need the medium refinery to craft these. I got one in my base which my friend builded (I haven't unlocked the recipe) but I can't teleport back as the mission would fail than.. I wanted to search buried technology to learn the recipe but it seems like in a nexus mission you can't find any buried technology so this is a dead end somehow. There isn't even a trader which eventually sells polyfiber or cactusflesh so I could buy it..

Why they do make these mission unnecessary hard? And if they want me to build something I need cactus flesh for why the mission don't choose a system that has the needed ressources for that build?

Anyone has a idea what to do to finish this mission? Help would be appreciated :)

I started a creative mode save, cause I want to build without having to worry about resources.

I also "enable" my base in order to avoid putting in all the power/electricity to make things work, but I find that some things still need power anyway.

Is this a bug?

Comprehensive guide [Question]

I play on ps4 and for some time now, I stopped playing because it's kind of too much-I'm overwhelmed. Gaming is skmething I enjoy since I was 6 and NMS is the only stone I tripped on and literally left out of ideas what should I do next.

What to do, where to go, whats the point of doing anything and idea of greatness of space and my utterly insignificance to it and its inhabitants is quite overwhelming. Dont get me wrong, I'm enchanted by the game but I got lost in it too.

My question is this: is there any "normal" chronological order tbat I should do? What's my end goal? What do you all do to keep yourself going further?

Stasis Devices Nano farm in a ship... Nobody seemed to be interested in its almost half billion a day efficiency! 🤕 I am really surprised about that... [Discussion]

I am really surprised so few are impressed by my Nano Farm😢

I always heard about those Stasis Devices farms but I had no idea what they looked like.

That is what decided me to try this Nano Farm stuff🤓

In my first try I was discouraged by the way it worked, I was always missing something to make it run.

But this time I passed this blockage with 3 Extraction sites (Radon, Sulphurine, Azot) and by completely filling the bottom lines before running the farm.

And I easily crafted 30 Stasis devices in no time, without refilling the farm, except for Iridesite where I crafted some more from Aronium, MagnoGold and Grantine.

So this Nano farm can give me close to 500 millions units a day, that really impressed me.

What should give a real Stasis Devices farm then? 🤣

Again this was only an experiment as I only will store those Stasis Devices because I don't need them.

I hoped it could help curious players to understand the Stasis Devices concept and help those who really need Stasis Devices for their game.

Apparently I was wrong about that, but I don't care too much as it was an interesting little experiment for me😎

Others who use quicksilver iteration appearances, is your first person eye level extremely short? [Bug]

I though the Eos iteration looked really cool so I saved all my quicksilver up for it and was certainly not disappointed in the appearance modifier. When I left it however, I noticed that my POV was extremely low, at the same point as a Gek. I switched to third person and I am way taller than what the POV makes it look like. I even walked up to Iteration: Eos who sells multi tool upgrades and my eyes are level with his chest even though we are the same height.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or even found a fix for it?

expedition issue - ancient bones [Question]

I'm currently a bit stuck finding the ancient bones, the scanner just says it's too distant to get a proper location.

I've traveled about 30,000u on my companion ride and it still isn't getting a location.

I then started to use my ship, and would fly for 15-25 seconds with boost before landing and checking again, and I must have done this about 200 times, and it still can't get a lock.

Any ideas ? Thanks in advance :-}

Base computer disappeared and I can't build another one [Bug]

I started playing this game yesterday, so apologies if I come off as ignorant.

I found a spot I liked, so I built a base computer and I claimed the land as my own. I explore a bit and come back. Everything is still there: the building and the equipment. Everything, except the base computer. I try to build another one and even though I have the resources to do it, it keeps showing as red when I try to place it anywhere.

It's still my base, as it's being marked accordingly in my compass, so I have no clue what's happening. I saved and loaded my save and I still can't see my base computer.

Is this a glitch or does anyone know why this is happening?

No Man's Sky isn't as good as we think it is. It's as vast as an ocean but as deep as a puddle. [Discussion]

No man's Sky doesn't have depth. Sure, you can explore an entire solar system. Sure, you can ride dinosaurs and build houses. Sure, you can start missions that give you 2 rewards. Boring.

There's no depth between anything that happens. You reach the highest rank in all of the alien races, and guilds and all you unlock are missions that have you do some cool shit like assault a freighter or something but even that's not that fun.

What happens if you max out your settlement? Nothing. Just more resources. NPCS are as bland as unsweet tea, Corrupted sentinels don't do a thing, but shoot a monument.

What about expeditions? Which one? The one that's on a timer, or the one that's on a timer, in space? This is something that can be tweaked a bit. The concept behind both styles of expeditions are cool, but unsatisfactory, it can be improved by either allowing us to join frigates on their expeditions or have the option to start expeditions without starting a new save (I seriously hate this)

What about combat? Surely, a space game with robots, alien races, pirates, and bio terrors must have some dope combat right? Right? Nope. The only things you can kill are fauna, sentinels and bio terrors. There's no pirates that's invaded your settlement or freighter. There's no rogue alien that you just met out of nowhere that's trying to rob you. The only pirates that exist in the game are the ones that just shoot you till you're dead.

This game, in comparison with other space games, is bland. If I had a computer powerful enough to run Star Citizen or play Star field, I wouldn't return to NMS.

Can't warp into the Galaxy Center [Bug]

So i'm in the 7th galaxy, with every jump before going smooth, except now. My hyperdrive is 100% filled, and I reached the last system, but when I try to press and hold X, nothing happens. I'm not sure if this is a bug but i'm going to flair it as one.

Noob Appreciation Post: Oh gosh wow THANK YOU! [Discussion]

TL/DR at the end.

Okay so - I finally found the Anomaly! (I’m like 40 hours in; is that bad? - I’ve just been enjoying my little happy planet, my pink and purple butterfly pets, and making mad Units at the one lonely space station I found.)

Then I did the thing where you can use data to find an exo suit upgrade, but it was like on the other side of the planet So I packed up a bunch of basic building materials and launched, figuring I’d just go up and come down.

NOPE! The anomaly was there! Wow! My first interactions! Neat!

And then I was like - a little overwhelmed. So I “sat” my character down and got up to get a snack and my husband was like, “OH MY GOD BABE SOMEONE JUST GIFTED THE CRAP OUT OF YOU!” and I wasn’t fast enough to see who it was but OMG! Thank you kind stranger! All kinds of weird fun stuff in my inventory- I admit I sold most of it just because I don’t know what to do with most of it, but WOW!

TL/DR: Someone played Santa for this noob. I love you, kind stranger.

Technology Upgrade Bonus [Question]

Can someone explain to me how the technology upgrade bonus works? I read everywhere that you need to put similar upgrade adjacent to each other. But how do I see what the bonus is?

For example, I have 3 upgrades to the movement system. 1x S, 1x A and 1x C. I placed them like this:

Jetpack - C

A - S

When I place them like this, theres is an orange border around the upgrades.

The S-Upgrade gives me (amongst other things) +209 % Jetpack Tanks. If I remove the S upgrade from this technology slot and put it somewhere else, where is not adjacent to anything, it still gives me exactly the same bonus (209 % Jetpack Tanks). So why doesn't it give me an upgrade bonus when placing the upgrades together?

Help with warping to a galactic core [Question]

Hi travellers,

This issue is kind of strange, and I know similar questions have been asked in the past but I can't seem to find an answer for this weirdness.

I've managed to warp all the way to Budullangr with no issues. I'm now at Budullangr's core, I can hold my analog stick and select the core, but when I press A to warp, nothing happens. Hyperdrive is fully charged, and like I said this hasn't happened before.

Very strange, hopefully someone can help!

Different dead freighters ? [Question]

So I flew through the galaxy, sippin my rum, used the beacon and found that freighter. Found a freighter completely without bugs so I didn't get any nanites (the reason I went for the freighter) chose the nanite reward instead of tech and got 422 nanites... I feel robbed, took my drunk ass over an hour to even find the way and then there was nearly nothing as reward. Thought there is only one version of those with the green little bugs, this was the first time I found a different abandoned freighter with defense systems online instead of bugs. Are there more different types ?

Noob here: Tips needed [Question]

As title suggests, when I spawn in, what do I do? Are the objectives different each time you spawn/restart the game?

I just loaded in once just to quickly run around and see the vibes. It said that I needed some iron to repair something and when I found an iron rock, it said that I needed a special gun to break it!

Also does the default gun to break stuff have ammo or is it unlimited? Any guides/vids I can use to get a hold of what to do? Because I’m quite overwhelmed!

Expedition Atlas Creature egg [Question]

While doing Expedition 4 Redux when you do the Seek the Atlas mission it grants you a Creature egg. I wanted to bring it to my main save by trading it from my PC game to my PS4 game. But I cant join a normal game from an expedition save.

Which also means any eggs I want from my other creatures on other saves in the Expeditions will be unavailable if I cant find a way to transfer them. My question is has anyone found a way to do it? This creature is rather neat.

Exocraft Terminal [Question]

So I have been playing NMS for years, and my hard work has finally paid off. [Discussion]

When I started I had this idea that I would name all my systems the same thing. And the planets would have other things, to form a sentence.

Well....That lasted for about 3 systems had to leave some planets named "giggles 3" and "snickers 2" stuff like that. Cause heck then they would be looking for the first two...

And Someone FINALLY found my solar systems and messaged me that " I am a evil diabolical interloper and I should be shot, with love...."

Name of my first system and planets? Gonna do this in Name:Planet name, planet name,

I am on normal mode, i did a mission and died then my game crashed, when i logged in i was not in the same galaxy i died in . How the heck do i find the galaxy to get my stuff back.

First time playing with a partner [Discussion]

Today I played with my brother for the first time, he just got the game at Christmas. The sheer joy of hearing the question "what's a whispering egg?", followed by the inevitable scream, was such a perfect experience! I can't play often, but this is the game that just keeps giving!

Glitch or bug [Bug]

So I think I found a glitch or bug with buying npc's ships. So I have a couple broken ships in my freighter ship and I traded my broken ship for a npc's ship for an exchange. So I got a working ship for a broken one Then apparently the npc couldn't leave, I offered to buy his ship and it said claim ship for free. So ships for free?

Crash when setting up a low orbit base. [Question]

Hey guys, I am having an issue building a low orbit base. I am using the method where I build a base computer approximately 1000u from the electromagnetic power source and build stairs upwards. The game however crashes when I reach a certain point in the stair building. Just curious if anyone else is having this issue, or if I am using an antiquated method to build the base. The method has worked several times in the past and recently.

Jumping galaxies in VR [Question]

VR Question! Recently switched to playing NMS in VR on Oculus Rift S - it really enhances the game and I can't play on a flat screen any more. There are a few quirks like no boost jump jet packing and no build camera mode, but much more immersive. I have read on the NMS wiki that there is a known bug that prevent you selecting and activating the galactic hub in VR and you have to do this on a flat screen - can anyone confirm or deny this bug still exists?

Restart mission question (spoilers for atlas path) [Spoiler]

Hi all, i planned very well up until the last point, and i activated all pillars at the last atlas station, and went to craft all the seeds

The last 3 required materials such as indium etc and so stupidly i warped away.

I have the heart of the sun now but cant remember what system the last station is in.

Its giving me the option to reset the misssion as i am currently "out of range" but will this reset the entire quest or just the location of the final station?

Ultra graphics still look a little off? How to optimize graphics ? [Question]

I have put an hour or two into this game so far and while I’m enjoying the exploration so far, something about the graphics seems a bit strange. Even on ultra, the textures look like something out of elder scrolls oblivion. They’re not terrible, but if there was a way to make it sharper I’d appreciate the advice.

Curious if anyone else had this issue or is this just how the game looks ?

Brand new to game, never played, initial impressions [Discussion]

Well I've made about 10mil and player for about 9 hours, which gives me enough confidence to write some preliminary thoughts... this is an engrossing game, but a light hearted one. This is definitely not a hardcore game, even in ironman - but one thats meant to be casual.

The good - Very lighthearted atmosphere, the art style is very cartoony and beautiful, its fun to explore the world just to see new things - exploration : the good about exploration is that it doesn't take 10-20 mins to get to another destination like some other space games. Also there are a lot of things to find... but that is also a negative (see below) - Base building, crafting and building your ship/exosuit is very rewarding and fulfilling

the not so good: - procedural generation seems very bland - the outposts are all the same layout... this seriously breaks immersion.

  • combat AI is a bit wonky and really needs to be improved - you can't dig very deep, even in caves... why can't caves go more than a few meters underground level? - Seriously, the entire galaxy is populated by 3 races? they are EVERYWHERE, EVERY PLANET... sometimes it feels like there's too much of the same everywhere.

Fun game, will stick around for more!

Noob question [Question]

So I got my first exotic and I’m nervous to leave the freighter with it. Is there any way I can lose it other than accidentally exchanging it? Like any missions I do I could destroy it or if I fall into a black hole could it be gone? Things like that

Too early for a Freighter? [Question]

I warped into a 3-star system with my B-class fighter. This is a fighter I bought for 18 million with ~34 slots (now upgraded to 42+8 slots!!) and am immediately attacked by 3 pirates. I managed to kill them off. Afterward, the captain of a freighter invites me onboard and rewards me with his freighter!!!

I am about 32 hours into the game at this point.

So now I have a freighter. I believe I am supposed to acquire frigates and go run expeditions. But I have some questions first: Am I too early in the game to be using a Freighter? It feels like it is too early to me. I have a good fighter and a decent shuttle, and I still have a lot to learn. Can I put all of my ships in the freighter? Like my shuttle and my fighter and any other ships I buy? Or only the frigates I buy? If you think I should be using my Freighter now, what Frigates should I buy with my meager 7 million units (all I have left after purchasing my fighter)

Terrain Manipulation [Question]

Is there anyway to stop the terrain from continuing to bury my base? Having to flatten it all out all the time at all my bases is very frustrating, really ruins the building in this game for me

What inspires your naming choices? Do you have a theme or special way to come up with system names?

For a couple years I was just naming things after foods and anything related to that. I think I’m ready for a new idea though.

Can you really upgrade all ships to 48 slots? [Question]

I tried searching for an answer to this, but it seems that there was an update that let's you update any ship to 48/24 slots.

I just bought the game a week or so ago, and I have maxed out my fighter at 42 slots. I have 11 ship augmentations in my inventory ready to be used, but... I can't. The slots all the way to the left are grayed out (see picture below). Do I need to be an A or S class ship to access them?

Hm... So how did this happen? [Discussion]

One of the things I enjoy doing when flying down to a trading post is coming in as hot as possible, and seeing what the automated landing operation can handle.

I tried this last night and it went a little differently. When I got close enough, I could see that none of the landing pads was occupied. But none of them lit up with the green "ready" indicator either!

I tried mashing the slow down key but that was too little too late. So I just whacked the "E" key to land, about ten times as quickly as possible... And unbelievably, I landed safely.

After it was down I realized that my shuttle was on the roof.

Any idea why none of the landing pads lights up sometimes? Seems to be happening more recently.

Exotic Ship being swapped for Hauler [Bug]

Hey so I had an exotic that looked like a goldfish and I had maxed it out with upgrades and storage. I then bough another exotic and when I got back to my freighter it became a hauler that I had owned. My current hauler became a completely different one and I'm not sure how to fix it, I've reloaded the game and nothing changed. Can I fix this??

Center of the Galaxy? [Question]

I’m not sure if this is exactly a spoiler, but I just tagged it since this has to do with a primary quest line.

My buddy and I just got to the objective in one of the primary quest lines where we have to travel to the center of the galaxy. I think this is technically how you beat the game, but it seemed weird to us to stock up on hyperdrive fuel and just keep jumping to systems until we reach the center. Is this really what this game wants us to do? Or is there a better, more fun way to go about this?

I’m trying not to ruin the experience by Googling it and using some walkthrough, so hopefully someone can give us a general idea on how to proceed.

Sandworm egg not hatching? [Question]

So, someone randomly gave me and several others in the Anomaly a "Sandworm Egg". Says it's ready to hatch, has a pic of a sandworm on it. But, I can't figure out HOW to hatch it. I've got a free pet slot, I've tried going to worlds where I've seen sandworms at, and I've tried going to super hot planets like a couple google results mentioned, but nothing seems to be working.

If it matters, I'm playing on PS5, and have only been very casually playing for maybe a couple weeks now. (Was an original player, but haven't played in over a year, so it's a totally different game now)
