Do I get units from my settlement? [Question]

I have noticed that there is a tab called settlement productivity and maintenance cost, I was wondering if I earn the units from the productivity tab anually or is the only thing I get from my settlement a bunch of useless resources?

Starbirth mission stuck in a loop? [Bug]

I think I’m stuck in a loop. I spent hours and hours and hours trying to fill the soul chamber. I find a traveler and it goes to 33% and then I find a second traveler and it goes to 66%. After finding the third traveler, it goes back to 33%. I find another traveler and then it goes up to 66% again and then back to 33% again after another traveler. It’s a complete loop. I’ve literally found about 25 travelers hoping the loop would break.

Does anyone have any idea as to what’s going on? From what I’ve been searching online, I should only have to find three travelers.

Biological horror companion aging rate [Question]

Just finished the expedition last night, but now I'm wondering how long it takes for the biological horror companion to reach reproductive maturity. Curious if there's a set amount of in game time, or if you need to have it as your active companion. Or alternatively if there is a general range of time in which it may happen. Really looking forward to those eggs.

No man's sky permadeath challenge run, no installing technology. [Discussion]

A while ago I started this run but I finally got around to beating it, I did not end up doing the run without ever installing technology but I did minimise the instances of it being required.

The rules: -No installing new technology (i.e. hyperdrive) -No installing Upgrade Modules (i.e B-class Jetpack module) -Standard multiplayer rule is off -As little in terms of major luck as possible. -Always keep the radiant pillar as your main ship, unless absolutely necessary.

With that said, here is the log I made though our the run:

Starter ship- no real problems with installs, but the analysis visor is gone so navigation is harder..

★note 1- the multitool is an issue.

Throughout the main story there's 3 points where installing tech is recommended/required for the multitool

1- analysis visor

2- terrain manipulator

3- boltcaster

Analysis visor and boltcaster and easily bought, but the terrain manipulator is much harder.

Can't be bought from my knowledge, at least I've never seen one on a purchase while playing this yet, however I got a vykeen system. And habitable colony NPCs have unique interactions that can happen. It just so happens I lucked into the vykeen taking pity and mocking my multiool, giving me a better one. With an analysis visor, terrain manipulator and a pulse splitter.

This is quite lucky but I do think that all 3 species have a form of interaction like this, so I'm okay with it.

Part 2- travel issues.

Heading down after talking to people in the space station, you get directed to a crashed freighter, where we get the Hyperdrive recipe. This requires installing, but if ever you've tried buying ships in your first system, you'll know this game is clever and doesn't give the hyperdrive until you have one yourself. So...what do we do?

This measure would be if the game was actually smart in...

Is there a way to make your dream ship? [Question]

I'm new to the game and of course don't know how the nitty gritty of the game works, I understand the reason for not having the ability to customize your ships because they want you to find ships but this doesn't allow for you to see all the options and I want to know what design I'm looking for before hand is there a way to see all the visual variations of the different ships so that I can know which one is aesthetically best for me and I can hunt that variation down? Is there a similar thing for multi tools? Any other tips for my search?

Settlement bugged [Bug]

This is the second settlement I've had and both of them cannot be upgraded past a b-class because I don't get anything to raise my population(60) or my happiness(45). I only get construction opportunities. I've also never fought any sentinels. Whenever I'm supposed to a message just pops up saying sentinel forcing retreating and the alert level goes back to zero.

How to do the New Generations mission? [Question]

Okay, so I've only been playing for a couple of weeks, haven't even hit 100 hours yet, so please forgive me if this is something obvious that I'm missing.

I took a mission called New Generations, and I have to scan unique creatures. Following the quest marker, I landed on a planet, at an abandoned building..the ones with all the Biological Horrors that pop out of the ground when you break open their eggs. The quest marker is hovering right in the middle of one room, over some of the eggs there. * I can't scan or mine those particular eggs.

I figured that maybe it was just random that I got directed there, and that I needed to scan the creatures on that planet. So I just spent the last five hours scouring the planet and I finally got all creature scanned. But the quest marker hasn't moved or updated. It still seems to be pointing me to that building.

I've broken open a couple of the eggs, and tried scanning Biological Horrors, but that still doesn't work.

Any help or advice would be so very awesome.

Expedition 3, Cristal Sulphide. [Question]

In the current expedition, we need cristal sulphide to repair the ship, but i spawn really far from the ocean and it is really the opposite of fun to use the minotaur for hours just to get 3 crystals.

So does anyone find a more easy way to get them ?

What do you count as rare pets? [Discussion]

Exclude mechanical ones. Whats rare or special? I may be just easily amazed by some animals but right now I have 5 pets: 1 Puma like creature and its bigger, mutated firstborn. One huge Korvax headed elephant thing. An energy ball that shows no picture at all in the listing and a giant flosting squid thats all yellow.

Kinda variety there. But if I see people with pets its always some blobs. Is there anything to know

I deleted the game after about a month into Settlements. Worth getting back into it? [Question]

Honestly, Settlements just felt like busy with to me. I was pretty disappointed with the time-gated buildout process as well. Has there been a significant update or will there be one that I should return for? I really miss this game but it’s begun to feel like they’ve crammed too many things into it with not enough actual substance to make it really fun anymore, for me personally.

What tips would you have for a beginner? [Question]

I'm a beginner. I've got something like 4.5 hours of playtime, and so far I'm a little further then reaching the anomaly, and I'm at the mission 'alone amidst the stars'. But I'm kinda confused about some things about the game since there's so much. So many blueprints i can buy an build for my tool, better ships than my starter ship but i have no idea how to get to them, so much information. What tips would you have for someone like me, which would help me with this game. Doesn't have to be a certain tip like where to find starships, just anything since anything helps. Thanks a lot!

Multi Tool Buying policy [Question]

Hello, so I’m brand new to the game and have only been playing for a few days. I am very happy with my progress right now except my multi tool. I plan on getting a new one but I have a cool upgrade module for my scanner that I want to go to the new one. I take it I can’t transfer it. A proposal for a "Simulation Mode" [Suggestion]

We have "creative mode", "normal" etc.

These are kind-of "arcade" game play.

The "Simulation mode" will use the same game structure, without all those quality-of-life impossibilities. Here is an outline:

======= Simulation Mode ======================

  • your ships fleet is NOT spawning at your will (to give a sense of lonliness, to really feele the vastness of the universe and the planets).

  • You leave a ship somewhere? You can call it back, but to return it needs fuel, the amount is proportional to distance and it needs time. - teleportation needs fuel (same motivation as above)

  • When you scrap a ship for money, you spawn another ship of your fleet if it is possible fuelwise, otherwise a "taxi" ship will spawn and you use at your expences and it will warp you to your nearest ship. If you have only one ship, you cannot scrap it.

  • if you teleport to a base, you can teleport very cheap without ship, or full price with your ship.

  • you can buy fuel. It should be available in any space stations (to rise importance of space stations).

  • Saving happens only in the spacestations

  • if You die... you can restart from previsous saves, no automatic restart from same place with cargo recovery.

  • The vehicles should be treated in similar fashion.

  • less awesome planets (to give a sense of awe and to give real meaning to galaxy exploration)

  • less awesome things on planets (to give awe when something is found and meaning to planet exploration)

  • if you encounter something awesome on a planet it should be rare enough to motivate exploring further (currently if you are on a vulcanic planet, vulcanos are almost everywhere. If you have fauna, it is basically all over the place, etc etc)

  • space and sentinel combat is just too easy. If attacked with default arsenal and shields you will probably be defeated (to give meaning on the upgrades,...

Why are plants filling in my bases?! [Question]

What is the point? I have mined out the big plants but can’t get rid of the grass and other small un mineable sprites covered my entire floor. Looks kinda cool in one base but then I visit another and there’s earth and plants inside it as well? What do I need to do to avoid this?

New Ship Day [Screenshot]

Didn't want to get rid of the Radiant Pillar. It's been a decent fighter so far and I've done some upgrades. Still, I wanted a little more cargo capacity and new one even has self recharging launch thrusters. Needs a little sprucing up but it's a grade B explorer class. So, I guess I have two ships now.

Can I play as a nomad? [Question]

I want to roleplay as a nomad who travels from system to system and wants to explore everything. From the deep abyss to large star systems. Can I do that and how fun/rewarding is it. Or do I need to have a home to do certain things or will I run out of money and not be able to afford anything. I found the main game to be boring at times its my first few days playing the main game is great don't get me wrong but god damn creative is amazing i don't have to worry about anything i traveled and discovered so many cool planets i had a lot of fun building a base and the story is kinda interesting Im just doing my own thing though I'm more than excited to play the game again .

but i wanted to know if I'm missing out a lot by just playing creative ? i was always like this though like when i was a kid back in 2012 and i played i always played creative in minecraft I only had 2 survival play throughs .

Is an S class freighter worth it? [Question]

I've been playing this game for a little bit now and recently I've been trying to find an S class freighter (I'm still on my first free ship I got at the start which is an A class) for awhile now.

I've been doing the method of having a save right before a space battle and then checking the freighter after. I've done this for a good few hours now with no luck. I only get an hour, maybe two a day to play with my schedule so this has gone on for a few days now.

I'm just wondering if maybe I am doing something wrong or if i am just not patient enough? If it's me being impatient, I was wondering if getting an S class is even worth it for all of this trouble when there's so much else I could be spending my time on

Any thoughts or tips are welcome, I know I still have a lot to learn in this game :)

Well you would spawn it with an advanced ship with advanced parts and it might even take 2 hours to complete some of the quests required (for example: Discover minerals) That quest took me forever cause it's hard to discover some minerals. And after I had the first part of the ship done I was forced to find some stuff that weren't even on the planet. I had no currency so I couldn't buy the parts. Was this changed or is it still like this?

Distance from Center of Galaxy [Question]

Is there any way to know how far you are from the center of the galaxy?

Such as DTC (distance to center): 1500 ly

This would be an amazing enhancement, so that for starters we know how far different solar systems are from the center compared to others we have visited.

Destroyed freighter encounter [Question]

A few times I've had the encounter where you exit Pulse Drive when told theres an anomaly and there's a destroyed freighter right there, but with no interactable parts or ships to attack. What's the point in this? Sure, not everything has to throw resources at me but am I missing something here? Frigate upgrade modules would be incredible and save me relentlessly raiding every group I see though

Accidentally refined some Hexite for Starbirth quest [Question]

I'm trying to do the Starbirth mission and when I got the 250 Hexite I accidentally stupidly put it in my personal refiner and it started refining automatically into gold... I managed to stop it but it had already processed 9 of the Hexite, can I get this back somehow? I'm still looking for a Korvax Casing so im not sure if the mission will take me somewhere else to get the rest of the Hexite...

Howdy y'all. My brother and I are huge fans of NMS, and recently were talking about trying elite dangerous. Obviously they're both dealing with space flight, but how similar/ different are we talking? Is it about exploration as well, or more pvp/pve based? Would you recommend it, if you have played both, or should I just stick to the game I love.

Starship Inventory " Hack " [Information]

Hi,

I am not sure if this a known thing but I have just found a cheapish way to add additional inventory slots to my starship.

I find a busy Affluent/Booming class Station with lots of A Class starships, I buy an Explorer as they are cheap and then immediately scrap it . Most times you will receive 1 and sometimes 2 Storage Augmentation units. I now have a 48+21 Starship worth 171M at a fraction of the cost. ( 400-500K per unit )

As a bonus you will also receive the starship upgrade modules that were in the scrapped ship which you can sell for nanites.

Moving Base Computer 3.73 [Question]

Hey folks... has anyone tried this or been able to do this (PC)? The Patch Notes from 3.73, second item states: "The base computer can now be picked up and moved within the bounds of the base"

Moving the cursor over the base computer doesn't give me any kind of "grab" symbol, and opening the computer with E just gives me the normal options to take a new snapshot, upload the base, delete the base and Leave.

If you've been able to do this, please tell me how!

Exp #4 [Discussion]

Hey Travelers! A bit late to the Expeditions attempts but really glad they've made a comeback. I started #4 three days ago so we've got, what, 4 days left? Phases 1&2 are complete and 3 is almost complete. Still haven't gotten my ship repaired. And tell me why I sold my platinum when I cleary would need it at some point during this?! Should I turn on multiplayer and hope someone comes along to sell me some platinum? Sorry for sounding noobular. I promise I have nearly 300 hours on my normal save ha ha!

I'm disappointed by the Atlas Path ending [Discussion]

Rant time! For context I just started replaying this game and decided to go down the "Atlas Path" questline. The entire time it's been filled with this sense of mystery and uneasiness, like something big is happening and I'm a cog in the machine. All of the talk of holding the power of creation and the borderline fear inducing ambiance of the lonely galaxy with creatures and history that I don't understand.

With that out of the way, upon finishing the Atlas Path and seeing that all of that prestige amounted to nothing but perks makes me feel pretty let down. I know I was never promised anything grand but after all of that setup and getting a power that I could effectively just do with Nada and Polo on the anomaly is pretty lackluster. Like at least randomly make a new solar system for me so it feels a little more on theme but eh, I should stop nitpicking.

TL;dr: I finished the Atlas Path questline and the rewards feel more like what you'd get for a random sidequest than one fitting of all of the setup and time that went into it.

Game generating similar NPCs/Same ships way too frequently? [Bug]

Whenever I go to a Space Station, there are many NPCs that look exactly the same, but count each as one NPC. Also, most spaceships that show up for sale are either duplicatse of my current ship or of other ships I own. Is something wrong with my game's generation and is there something I can do about to remedy it?

Please help [Question]

I play on ps5 but I used to play on ps4. Sometimes I still have to use the ps4 and I completed the current expedition on ps4. When I returned to the ps5 and tried to download the save data from the expedition, it said that doing so would delete my current save data. I have a hundred plus hour save that I can’t delete. Is there a way to get around this? And why would this be a thing!?

I just cannot force myself to complete Expedition 3. The first stage has taken me almost as long as a full expedition and there is no ferrite anywhere. I sort of wanted the pet monstrosity but I already have the worm so meh. Rewards are just not worth the time invested to me.

Buildings Getting Removed And Build Menu Locked [Bug]

So, I recently bought this game and I've had this really annoying issue with the build system after I got the neat building upgrades from the space anomaly, although if I try to move anything in them or something it seems to be connected to after it's placed, the building gets removed and I don't get my materials back, I've had to remake several of my buildings and it's really starting to drain my materials. If anybody knows a way around this please tell me.

Another bug I'm having with this game is that by build menu gets locked to one tab, and I don't know how to fix it, I just press every button I know until it fixes, and it just seems to be fixing on it's own but well after the fact I needed it. I'm really worried if one of my storage containers gets deleted or something valuable.

Such a lost opportunity here. After so many free DLCs, why the building diversity (and what is there) is so low? Hello Games is thinking that's ok? Do they want to revisit that at some point? Ps4 to PS5 save transfer error [Question]

I've found the official HG guide, I'm trying the upload and it just fails on me every time.

Does it need psplus for that, or is it a separate feature? I have no idea why I can't transfer the save from the ps4 version. It's very clear what version I'm launching from the menu, the ps4 saves are working fine on the ps5, but I can't use the transfer feature to get the ps5 version up and running from where I stopped on the ps4 version, and nowhere can I find any info if this needs psplus or not, or why it keeps failing.

Refining [Question]

I had two stacks of 4 activated indium refiners. Each stack has its own set of 10 storage containers. Each group of 10 storage containers would hold 12500 activated indium. I built a third stack of refiners and connected it to one storage container because I ran out of ferrite dust to build more. But I noticed that the one storage container has 12500 capacity. Has there been some kind of update recently? Do I only need one storage container now per stack of refiners?

Large Wheel-shaped Spaceship [Question]

Hi all,

If this is a spoiler let me know, it's new to me. I'm about 150 hours in on an individual/non-coop game. Yesterday I arrived at a new solar system (to me) and as I approached the space station I noticed that my view of the entrance was blocked by a rather large and fancy disc shaped spaceship, seen edge-on. It was the only one of its kind I've seen. I can't remember much detail but it didn't seem hacked together, it had a very cool design.

After watching it for a few seconds I noticed that it was rapidly growing larger. It got huge and then it was gone, by the time I turned around I could only see rocket trails. Sorry but it would have been hard to get a photo even if I'd been expecting it.

It seemed too large to fit through the portal of the space station, but that's where it appeared to have come from. Any idea what this was?

What is it that brings us here to this game? [Question]

As we travel the road of life alone if you will inside these biomechanical shells. When the opportunity arises for our hearts minds and souls to take flight. It has a way of grabbing hold of you. Much like gravity itself.

I feel a great many of us have been born way before our time. That we would be better suited to that far off future. The one I know we will achieve someday. When we have learned and grown and we set out into the black.

But for now we have games like this that allow us to escape for a while. To be the interlopers we want to be. We can dream from dreams come ideas and from there the very future itself.

Trading capital ship? [Question]

When I find a new capital ship I’d like to upgrade to, what happens to all my frigates out on expeditions? Since they are tied to the expedition control rooms on my current capital ship and I think frigate base layouts don’t transfer to your new ship, how will you debrief them when they’re done? Are they lost forever or what do you do? I usually have 6-7 expeditions out at any given time and I’d hate to lose them all just to upgrade one ship.

Is Euclid Different in Survival mode? [Question]

I'm going to try getting to the center of the galaxy in survival. Died right away at the start but I'm doing ok now.

I'm still only 6 systems into the game but haven't seen any paradise planets, any lush planets have had some kind of catch. Two have had aggressive sentinels, one was all mountains and the final one was almost all water.

I would assume everything should be the same but wondering if things are harsher in survival mode (aside from inventory and resources usage).

Why does my bases power turn off when I'm offline? [Question]

As the question states my bases power just turns off when I log off so my bio domes don't grow their plants and my mineral extractors didn't mine. I learnt of this today when I logged back on after 16 hours and nothing had grown or been mined. I noticed that every power line was red until they randomly turn blue and everything powered on. Need some help with multiplayer [Question]

Me and my friend are playing multiplayer together and have a shared base. Everytime I leave my friend can’t build on the base (because I own it) and everytime he leaves I can’t use any of the equipment he’s put down. I figured out how to delete a base computer after an area has already been claimed. [Information]

Idk if anyones figured this out already and I’m on PC, but if you move the base computer far enough away from the original site, the editor will allow you to delete the base computer allowing you one more computer to build.

However, the base site will still remain and will still show up on your map and in your portal.

When you move it, check it to see if it says site hasn’t been claimed before you try to delete it. In case you think it might not be working for you.

Kinda lame the base site still stays, but it is what it is for now. Maybe this will change in the future.

PC - Nerdy question about CPU utilization [Question]

Hi guys! Quick question here, i recently switched to a newer workstation and i got two CPUs on hand (Xeon E5-1620 v3 quadcore with 3.5GHz base speed, and Xeon E5-2680 v3 12-core with 2.4 GHz base speed)

Does anyone know if NMS efficiently utilizes multithreading/multiprocessing or does it just clog up just a few cores? I did a little insight while running on my quadcore, but i didnt find out anything conclusive.

Btw, i'm running the game mainly in VR. I fear i'm getting more lag spikes when running on a slower clocked CPU.

Do people discover the same systems and planets in different modes? [Question]

In the different modes (normal, creative, survival and permadeath), if I ended up on the same planet, would I be able to rediscover the same things I had discovered in one of the other modes and then name it something else? How separate are the modes? Would the systems be identical? Is Euclid more explored in normal mode than in permadeath? Are the various communities all in normal mode or across modes? I'm a bit confused by how it all works. It sounds like if I build and upload a base in creative mode and give the coordinates to someone in normal mode, they wouldn't see the base. But otherwise everything is the same?

Am I handling my settlement incorrectly? [Question]

I finally got a settlement to spawn on my home planet and so far am loving the settlement feature. My main focus has been to close the deficit and get my settlement out of debt. This means that when settling any dispute, I’m agreeing with most sides that don’t give me debt. My question is whether or not I’m unaware of some sort of progression that will increase my income, making my strict attitude towards my settlers unnecessary. Also, are settlement disputes forever ongoing? Or have I not realized how important the 3/4 I’ve made so far been?

My Adventure [Information]

Today I started my adventure through the endless universe of Nms and I must say the game had already catched me since the loading screen it’s just so interesting to see every new planet with different creatures and plants. I think the story is very good even without cinematic cutscenes or something like that it’s still very nice to see the game progress my favourite thing and my goal for the game is to understand every languages perfectly (without translater). And to you all my advice is you must enjoy the game and see every single detail it’s just one of the best games I’ve ever played. Bye

Merging save files for expeditions and main saves [Suggestion]

Would be awesome if you could merge certain things from the expedition to your main save file.

Spending as much time as you do in expeditions, would be useful to at least import some resources, units or nanites, or maybe even ships to your main save.

After completing an expedition, you should be given the option to merge saves and/or what to carry over. Not everything, but certain things such as ships, multi tools and other things that could be hard to find. It would reward a player for spending that amount of time doing it along with the special quick silver rewards...

Wouldn't even have to be units or nanites, but blueprints, cosmetics and the likes...

Game crashing when at high altitudes [Question]

I'm currently trying to finish "The Hills are Alive" in the Expedition 3 Redux, where it asks you to summit a mountain that's 1,325u tall. Since I couldn't find a mountain that tall, I decided to use thin wooden walls to scale up to that height using my jetpack.

Everything was fine and dandy until the 900u mark, where the game started crashing randomly. I noticed that it crashed during storms, so I tried going up when there weren't any. I got up to the 1000u mark when it crashed again, despite there being no storm.

Does anyone know how to fix the game crashing at high altitudes?

Just curious. I tend to use 1st person almost always for the immersion factor in any game that allows it. It especially helps in dogfights when using VR, but I don’t really use VR anymore since I’m on a base PS4 and the low resolution isn’t worth it.

Where to find cadmium? [Question]

I need cadmium for the main storyline. I saw that you can only find it in red star planets. I have been to two red star systems, have been to each planet, and I still can't find it. None of the planets list it on their resources. I have been to about 11 planets now. Am I doing something wrong is it just this hard to find? Don't Cheat! [Suggestion]

I recommended a friend to the game and he bought it right away. He had a lot of fun for a few days and also thanks me for suggesting it to him. after about a week he read about the trick to multiply your items a hundredfold with several refinerys. he did it with all sorts of things .. items that give good units, nanit etc. after a few days he lost interest in the game and has not played it for a few weeks now. Since I have now spent several hundred hours in no man's sky, I can only recommend to everyone: don't ruin the game yourself!

If my friend starts a brand new No Mans Sky save (ship not repaired), and I join him through the multiplayer feature with a brand new save of my own (ship not repaired also), will we be on the same planet? Or even the same system? If not, is there any way to spend the early game together at all? [Question]

What to do with money? [Discussion]

I reached the credit cap using the chlorine method, and have now filled my storage containers entirely with Stasis Devices from my farm. Just over half a storage container of them alone is worth the entire credit cap.

What is there to even do with money anymore? Aside from ship farming/scrapping for nanites, I’m at a loss.

May just hit the anomaly and give them away…

New save same bases? [Question]

Hey there! I am a fairly new player. I was looking around and discovered that expeditions are a special mode that you need to start a save as instead of normal or permadeath mode. I honestly do not want to lose my exotic ships and my bases/farms. So I was wondering if I start a new save as an expedition mode does it still have admin over my bases since technically it is the same account?

If I can keep the bases it's pretty good. I can always ask a friend and trade my ships with him and then trade them back to the other save.

The reason I want to have the expeditions mode save being the "main" save is just to keep and show off all the loot such as the ships and pets.

I never played an expedition so I may be wrong just assuming that one save can play all expeditions. Any information about this is appreciated.

Teleporting to base, then back to space station. [Question]

Hi!

When I first started playing, I completed some of the initial base-building missions (on kind of a lousy planet). I then continued on with the game, and I’m now very far away from the system my base is in.

Now, I want to complete some of the remaining base-building missions, and for that I have to return to my old base through the teleporter at a Space Station.

My question is, when I teleport to my base, is it possible to teleport back to the space station I teleported from? Or do I have start my journey from that planet all the way back again?

Thanks in advance for the help! Any additional information is also appreciated, as I’m a “new” player (started playing the game again and a lot of new features have been added).

My base computer disappeared and now I can't complete the Base computer archives quest anymore... [Question]

I build and underwater base and placed my base computer in a marine shelter until I had a real structure standing. When I was expanding the base, the shelter was in the way and I wanted to move it, but I accidentally pressed the wring button and deleted it. And with the shelter the computer disappeared too. The symbol is still there where it previously was and the base still exists, so I can't place a new computer. Is there any way to fix this or can I just not get any more archive quests for this save?

Can't get log encryption keys [Question]

I'm on a mission where I need to search the crashed freighter and find log encryption keys. However, I have already been to the crashed freighter that they tell me to go to before. I have gotten all of the cargo from the freighter because most of it I got the first time I was there. I managed to get one key and I still need two more. Is there any other way to get the keys?

Base building on a derelict freighter for your amusement [Information]

Spruce up your derelict with some organic gardening.

As a follow-on to this post about derelicts, it turns out that if you glitch a derelict into an atmosphere, the game will let you drop any portable item, including a base computer. And, it will let you claim a base.

Of course, there is a catch: the base is essentially ephemeral. If the derelict de-spawns, then your base computer will be stuck floating in the air, way above the moon's surface (and at an oblique angle, the same one the derelict was at when it spawned) and you may have trouble deleting it. So you don't want to teleport out, or pulse too far away, or spawn a new derelict without deleting the old base first (unless you are on a PC and can use the save editor).

So what's the point? There isn't one, really, if you are off by yourself in a remote corner of the galaxy. But, if you are in a multi-player game with lots of players in the same system--like, say, an expedition--then you can establish a base for other players to use.

Like this one, which is in the system for the 2nd rendevous in the current re-run of the Cartographers expedition. A few people have visited. For convenience, I provide a refiner, a galactic terminal, and a teleporter for getting back to the station.

Of course, each player can only run it once since it's not de-spawning. But...I have a theory: the use of a save point/save beacon may allow them to reload the game and re-run the freighter. I can't test this, of course, but maybe some brave soul can.

How do I deal with base parts being deleted? Help me tolerate the bugs please. [Question]

So I picked up NMS a couple of years ago and really enjoyed what I played of it. I stopped playing because my Xbox at the time couldn’t compete with my PC buddies when it came to building large scale bases (I’d clip through floors constantly).

Ive returned since getting a SeriesX and I am completely overwhelmed by everything. I can get my head around and up to speed with everything in time, but I am having serious issues with the bugs.

For the most part I can tolerate and deal with them. The biggest problem is base parts disappearing, I haven’t noticed my base parts disappearing by themselves however. The problem seems to be whenever I edit an existing part sometimes a part near it will delete itself. For example: I choose to move my vault from one place to another, upon selecting my vault the wall behind the vault will become highlighted and as soon as I place my vault in its new location the wall will delete itself.

Is my save too old? Do I just build a fresh base on a new planet? Is there a remedy? I just want to enjoy the game but base building is a huge factor for me.

i am stuck on a water planet, i play on playstation if that matters, with constant Rain of acid. Im in my second ever solar system, i just got the hyperspace thing and went to the solar system it "pointed" me towards, and out of fuel to start launching. And im on some small island with nothing on it, and i couldnt get far enough to get stuff, without dying to the rain/lack of oxygen. i need Ferrite and di Hydrogine, All i get from the materials is salt, and when i scan it only shows me salt nearby. I just wanna get off this planet, can anyone somehow help me? Im very new to the game and dont know what to do

I’ve just been wondering while playing, where do the ships you get come from? Obviously with exocrafts you build them, but you can’t do that for ships. Could there be shop building companies? Or skilled engineers who make them and don’t give that knowledge away to anyone?

Returning player (last save from 2016) is it salvageable? [Question]

Jumped into this old save, I honestly don’t remember a thing about it. I know I finished the main story and spent a whole farming for the best gun and ships but that’s about it.

As soon as I logged on I got a load of messages saying a load of my tech is obsolete, doesn't even tel me what the tech was or did.

I also don’t have any fuel to warp out of the galaxy I am currently in (no idea how to get more and I think one of those obsolete tech meant I didn’t need it)

Is this save salvageable in anyway? Or better to start all over again? Just curious as I’ve got a cool looking ship and weapon, also 4.5mil credits (not sure if that’s a lot ) would ideally like to continue this save

Golden Vector [Question]

Where to find Exotics [Question]

I just had to restart the game (my PS5 almost bricked and I lost all my save data with no back up) and I finally have enough money to buy things I lost like decent ships. Do exotic ships spawn more frequently in certain systems or is it just luck of the draw everywhere? I remember being crazy lucky with all of mine but I was further in the game than I am now. Buggy [Discussion]

I like this game but it is far and away the buggiest I've ever played. 15 save slots; I can't save more than 2 games. Attacked by a predator? Hopefully the plasma launcher works. It sometimes goes on the blink for no apparent reason. Mission says to investigate a crashed freighter? Oops, I already looted it on a prior mission. Hopefully if you're mining for something it won't be buried in some impenetrable rock. And yes, sometimes armored clams are 30 units deep in sediment

I have a question about freighter swap? [Question]

Hello everyone I have a question that I can't seem to find on Google (maybe I'm a bit dim)

I have a freighter that I've had since the first few hours in game, it's a c class.

I'm now looking to get hold of an s class, even though I'll miss this one it's about time I "upgrade".

The question, what happens to all my stuff, I've got a load of resources stashed and I really don't want to lose it, what happens if I upgrade? Also will I have to completely redo the interior of the new one?

I know these are silly questions and I feel like I know the answers but I just wanted to make sure.

Request for a multiplayer favour [Question]

I need someone to go to a portal address in Euclid in multiplayer mode and report back who the system was discovered by and when. The system is Uobrau, portal coordinates:

This is the very first system I spawned in for my very first save in NMS. I was positive that it was already discovered by someone a few years ago, but the server is reporting that the system was discovered by me 6 months ago. I first spawned there about a year ago, so even that is wrong.

I Messed Up.. [Discussion]

I came here for some sympathy cause I cannot be the only one, LOL.

I found a derelict ship, got excited cause YAY ANOTHER SHIP. Hop in and click on this, click on that and BOOM new ship! Well... Apparently, I didn't read what I was clicking and I missed some fine print. My original space ship and my inventory in it are completely gone. I guess not all abandoned ships are created equally and some of them you have to trade for.. sad Cupcake noises I am kind of a noob with this game. Only a few hours over 40 on my save.

It may have only been my starter space ship but I was SO attached the old girl. She got me where I needed to go! Fortunately, I had other ships in my Capital Ship so I was able to summon one and get off planet. I can't be the only one who has done this to themself. So for others out there, I feel your pain. And for anyone who hasn't gone through this, feel free to laugh at mine cause I deserve it. LOL.

Also, not sure if I used correct flair but it was the closest thing that seemed appropriate.

How to locate a portal? [Question]

I'm trying to use the portal to input specific coordinates to get back to the Galaxy I discovered after the Atlas path mission. Upon Googling it says to use the alien cartography maps to locate a monolith so I do that, find a monolith and went through all the options but it doesn't give me a portal or mark a portal on my map like apparently it's supposed to. Am I doing something wrong?

Voice and Text Chatting on an Xbox Series S/X? [Question]

Hi everyone,

I play on an Xbox Series S. I'd love to be able to chat with other players in the Nexus -- either by typing or using voice. Is this possible? If so, how? I was about to buy a gaming headset and an Xbox-compatible keyboard to see if I could get this working ... but if it's not possible even with those accessories I'd like to save the money. (I've tried to get a Logitech bluetooth keyboard working with my Xbox, but can't do it. I don't have a wired USB keyboard to try.)

Beyond just chatting / voice conversations with folks, I'd really like to be able to remap some of the controls. Specifically, I really enjoy taking screenshots of my ships in flight in photo mode ... but it's a pain to try to execute maneuvers while simultaneously trying to trigger photo mode on the D-pad. Ideally, I'd be able to map photo mode to a button or key.

Please forgive this newbie question. I've searched and found some older results, but I don't know if they're still current. I'm also very new to console gaming -- I bought my Xbox specifically to play NMS, and so don't know Xbox peripherals work all that well. I've loved playing on an Xbox, but if this isn't possible I maybe should have bought a gaming PC instead.

I Think my portals are broken [Bug]

when I go to use a portal "any portal" I get this screen I have done all quests for the portals and have all glyphs.

if you hit the Activate portal it will open a portal without you putting in an address if you go thru it is a trap you can't do anything I have stayed over there for 30mins running around on foot you can't build or summon anything the only way back is to reload a save.

I'm looking for any workaround or fix for this and have not found any yet been trying to fix this for 6 hours at time of posting.

You know what settlements need? An environmental dome [Suggestion]

Like a force field that keeps storms and other hazards away that could be turned on and off. Like I got some beauties in the mos hazardous places and whenever they are about to load in I can see how it would look like without a fire storm raging pretty much 24/7 and I'd really like to have a somewhat permanent look at that.

I'm pretty new to the whole NMS parade. I only have about 69 hours in the game and i just finished my first expedition today.

I played and completed Cartographers (the third one?) And i was wondering how to play the other ones? Do i load up a new game, can i not at all or is the limited-time countdown, about the current expedition and not all the expeditions in total?

Also, can i delete my expedition save? Will there be any negative effects?

Ships reimagined [Discussion]

Base teleporter error? [Bug]

Anyone have a solution for this issue? I made my base teleporter and at some point the battery between it and my EM power got moved so it disconnected from power. Now I can’t seem to reconnect it…. It just says insufficient power and the plug in the teleporter stays red. I’ve tried hooking it up to the EM directly and alone, thru a battery, deleting it (but then I can’t rebuild it by only 1 is allowed per base and it doesn’t acknowledge that I no longer have 1.). I also tried switching from Multiplayer to Solo play. And I tried using a biofuel reactor. The odd thing is I can teleport FROM a space station to it but not go back. I ended up building a second base nearby for just a teleporter but I’d like my original back :(. Thoughts?

I just found this ship. It’s a huge upgrade and obviously I have to repair everything on this crashed ship. Can I come back to it later? Once it’s repaired where does it go? Can’t get Antimatter [Question]

So I’m roughly 5 hours in on Xbox one and on the awakenings mission. I travelled to a planet where my waypoint said antimatter was however there was no building and just a blank spot. On the objectives I have 2/3 ticked but I can’t craft the warp fuel as I can’t get the anti matter.

Any solutions to this or is it a matter of restarting?

Can planets change? [Question]

I have two paradise planets in my home system. One of them has my base and until a couple days ago I hadn’t visited the other planet. Two days ago I went there and it said it was a paradise with good weather, and I went through the whole thing and scanned as much as possible. Yesterday I went back to the planet and it said the planet was bountiful with hot rain storms, and ALL of the plant and animal life had changed! I had to re-scan everything, and now the pet that I got from this planet two days ago doesn’t have a planet of origin? Does anyone have an explanation?

Has anyone ever tried to fly close to the stars? [Question]

I tried the other day in a sistem with 3 stars in the center and i thought it might be a great thing to explore. But no matter how much i warped there it didn't seem possible to get there. Eventually i ran out of supplies (after 30 ish minutes) and just gave up. Is it possible to get close to the stars? Or is it always in a set distance?

Can’t get antimatter [Bug]

So I’m roughly 5 hours in on Xbox one and on the awakenings mission. I travelled to a planet where my waypoint said antimatter was however there was no building and just a blank spot. On the objectives I have 2/3 ticked but I can’t craft the warp fuel as I can’t get the anti matter.

Any solutions to this or is it a matter of restarting?

Portal Question [Question]

I just finished getting all the glyphs and Im excited to finally go through a portal. I do understand that there are restrictions to what you can do once going through the portal. I’ve seen from a few people that you can explore the system you used the portal to get to and then leave back through the open portal to your original planet. Does this work completely?

spent 4+ hours looking for a rock, and counting... [Question]

spent over 4 hours walking, running, pilgriming, minotauring, swimming, digging, crying looking for the last mineral to finish a phase 3 milestone to help me fix my ship, but i just can't find it.

can anyone just help me and tell where to find that freaking rock or what it looks like?

or give me a magnetic resonator so i could fix my ship and go find a rock elsewhere...

i even started a new expedition but it was on the same planet DICE V20 and it gave me ptsd so i closed it real quick.

Best way to progress? [Question]

Absolutely loving the game so far, been playing with my buddy but wow is it overwhelming sometimes haha. We just both got a free freighter from warping and have been trying to set stuff up. We're still super early in the game and struggle to maintain some resources for building and such. We haven't done much for the main quest cause we just wanna keep exploring but I was curious if that's a bad idea. Are there benefits to continuing the story before getting serious on building bases and finding like a perfect planet to build bases? We've also farmed salvaged data for like a solid 30 minutes and got like over 100. Figured we unlock as much as we can even though we can't craft all of it yet and only been spending nanites on S-class upgrades cause someone said no point in spending it on anything else.

So considering storage units [Suggestion]

Now idk if this has been talked about. But why the hell can I quick transfer from inventory to storage containter but not vice versa you know how wonderfull it would be to place for example all my mined runaway mold into storage container and be able put that runaway mold into my refiners from the storage container instead of having to walk to my storage and then take it out and then go to refiner and put in the material. Im no pro but i know there are ways to get around this such as frighter storage units and the long range martiral teleporter but it just makes sence to me

Is there a difference in quality if you spend nanites to level a ship up to S class vs finding it as an S class? I have the nanites to level it up but I'm not sure if it is better to keep waiting for it to show up as an S class.

I'm happy I got to finish the Cartographers expedition [Discussion]

Lame post but no one I know plays the game or would give a crap about what an expedition is, so here I am bragging to you guys.

I had already tried once when it first came out, but I couldn't finish it as there was no place I could find to build a base; it was all taken and didn't want to spend hours trekking away from my ship and then back and forth.

This time it took me a just bit over 5hs to complete (5:13 to be precise), and since I suck at games and I tend to abandon stuff halfway through, it's a big thing for me.

On top of this I realized expeditions give me the chance to muck around with game mechanics to which I never give too much thought; it was the first time I used the mining things, or that I had to carry buildings outside of the border of my base, or that I used an exocraft! It's fun to jump around on that thing! Neat!

Start a great year, you beautiful community. Keep on interloping!

Unable to install PS5 version (PS4 disk) [Bug]

I last played NMS back in February on my PS5 and had deleted to make room on my hard drive. I had thoroughly been enjoying the PS5 version after the free and easy upgrade (then).

Now, when I attempt to upgrade to the PS5 version I’m ONLY able to install the PS5 version if I buy the game from the PS store.

I’ve tried everything I can think, but no luck. I’ve even started the PS4 version since that’s the only option to install without $.

Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated. 😊

How to get salvaged frigate modules? [Question]

I saw a bunch of videos of people destroying cargo pods with the frigate modules inside, getting at least 1-2 per freighter. I tried this and despite hovering over the pods on 4 different freighters none of the pods said they contained frigate modules! Did they make them much more rare recently or is there a new way you have to get them with the update?

Linux can't connect to Windows-hosted multiplayer & vice-versa [Question]

I'm running NMS on a Linux Mint PC using Proton (6.3-8 and 5.13-6). For the most part things are working great. However, when I attempt to connect to a multiplayer session hosted on a Windows PC (on my lan, even), it won't connect. No error... it just flashes "Joining lobby... Connecting...", which disappears instantly and stays at the "Available Sessions" screen.

If I host, the game on the Windows PC doesn't even see my game in the list of available sessions.

How might I go about troubleshooting this? Are there logs somewhere that would at least capture the connection error, so I could know if it's a network issue or what? I'm assuming it's an issue with me running it on Linux, but plenty of reports on Protondb say multiplayer worked out of the box, so I'd like to get it working if possible. Just not sure how to proceed.

Bug mocing objects in freighter [Question]

Hey everybody, I'm quite new to the game and I've got a question and googeling has not given me a solution.

If I want to move objects in my freighter I can, but by doing so I delete the room the object was in.

That makes remodeling my freighter really tedious.

Is there a solution to this bug? Do I have to delete and recreate the object I want to move?

I found a bunch of "Runaway Mold" on a Paradise planet but.... [Question]

...not knowing what it was, I decided against trying to harvest it. I looked it up later on and found out that it could have been refined directly into nanites. I'm going to put a habitat there but, still trying to find that "curious deposit" first and, so far, I can't. I think I done messed up. I don't suppose there's a way I can "scan for them"?

Alone Admist the Stars mission [Question]

Hey, I've been playing for quite a while since expedition 3 (the first one). During the expedition I achieved quite a lot, got all Atlas seeds and did the quest (although the quest still shows as "find the next atlas interface") and I can't progress with Alone Admist the Stars and The Space Anomaly missions. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I can discover my own black holes now so Polo doesn't have anything to interact with me anymore?

I have talked with them and other NPCs in the space anomaly, warped around systems but nothing helped.

Am I screwed with this save?

What to do now? [Question]

I seem to have almost completed the story. I have discovered that the Atlas will die in 16 minutes and now the main story objective is to progress towards the galactic center. I've looked this up and most people say not to get there because you will just reset. I liked playing the main story and I don't know what to do now.

The link provides 26 portal addresses to blackholes near the edge of the galaxy. The important take away is that if you replace glyphs 5 & 6 of your current location with "dragonfly bird" or "bug atlas", it will take you vertically to the edge of the galaxy. Replacing glyphs 2 thru 4 with "sunset bug galaxy" will get you to the blackhole in your current system.

I purchased No Man's sky 3 or 4 weeks ago.

If you are like me, and love base building, especially

very large bases, prepare for a BIG disappointment!

​

1.- There is a limit of only 20,000 items in your save file,

this might seem like enough, but it is NOT. It is so low that

by the time you have spent all your time building bases, you

will get the dreaded "Construction Limit reached". When this happens,

you will have to tear down some of your other bases just so you

can finish the base that you are working on.

​

2.- If the above were not enough to ruin your fun, I just found out today

that when you modify the terrain, it only remembers the last 5000 changes.

If you, like me, decide to save building parts and want to dig tunnels

and rooms for your base, once you hit this limit, the earlier tunnels will start to

fill themselves in.

​

This would be an awesome game if Hello Games would realize that a lot of people

bought the game for building and solved the above 2 issues.

I do not care if I am limited to single player only, I just want to build awesome bases

and I can not because of the very tight restrictions that they put into place.

​

I sent in 2 support tickets and they didn't even have the courtesy to reply.

Until this is fixed, I WILL NOT recommend this game and will make sure my reviews

reflect my disappointment.

​

There has to be a way to satisfy the people that love base building, like myself

​

Do a google search for these issues, they have been around for years, there are a lot

of very unhappy people, I don't know why this has not been fixed or at least improved.

​

If I could, I would get a refund from Steam. Yes, I am that upset, I payed a lot of money

and now it won't get played nearly as much.

Had a ship (A) that had some damaged components but could still fly. Left it in a planet after finding another ship (B) and selling it. Inventory now cleared and every component damaged on ship A. Wth? [Question]

Hey all, I spent hours repairing a ship to my liking and it only had a few slots in the inventory I couldn't repair because I hadn't encountered those resources yet. I used it for hours. On another planet I found another ship that I could repair and sell. So I did. Now everything is damaged again on my original ship. WTH?

Not only that but my inventory was completely cleared. Bug?

I could also summon the damaged ship to the planet I was currently on.

Final Added feature idea before this year ends: SYSTEM LORDS [Suggestion]

SO I've discussed this with several people this idea and the consensus was overwhelmingly positive, but none of were sure exactly how to implement it yet. Maybe the community could come up with a good answer. I'm sure you guys will show me the error of my ways. So here it is:

The system Lord: Has the ability to define a set of "rules" for any particular Star system. Things like: Sets the PVP mode for ALL players in the system (overrides player settings.) sets visibility for player and ship icons also Can "adjust" the hostility of sentinels in the system. Can also direct sentinels to attack. Has the ability to regulate the Space station traffic and only allow certain people in and out if desired. (maybe an actual use for those station credentials) Could customize the System colors (ie freighters, spaceships, space station, various other color schemas) Players have the ability to join or leave the System Lord's "faction". Makes them immune to sentinel attack and damage by Fellow faction mates.

So those are some initial ideas for what the system Lord could "control". I'm sure you guys might have some additional ideas. Cap ships battles would still require a while new user interface so I wouldn't count on it.

Here's the difficult part: How to implement it. Is it the person who first discovered the system? Should it be a "mini mission" where you destroy a sentinel base or have to defeat some kind of boss? Or could it be an expedition type story line where you have to do a certain amount of tasks and the reward is a transferable system lord "token".

How do you remove them? Special Icon to show who they are? Hunt them down and kill them? OR The perhaps the ability to negotiate with them to "take over" the position like you do with settlements?

I need help [Question]

I completed Expedition 2 last week because I was very excited about having another chance to get the Normandy. I got it on the expedition save but I can’t figure out why I can’t claim it on my permadeath save. I picked up the dosimeter from the quicksilver vendor but it doesn’t do anything this time around. The Normandy itself doesn’t show up as a reward. Did I misunderstand all of the posts online that say you can claim it on other saves or is it just not available for other saves this time? I’m really confused.

Freighter colour has changed for no reason [Bug]

So I spent several hours trying to get a capital ship I found on the Coordinates exchange subreddit, went into the ships customisation settings, noticed that the colours were all set to red despite the ship being white and orange, So I pressed exit, and when it asked me If I wanted to save changes I said "No" and somehow my freighter is now entirely red and I wasted hours trying to get the freighter I wanted

Starbirth Quest (Last Step) Totally Bugged Out. [Bug]

Hello everyone! I'm fairly new to the game, only starting 2-3 months ago. I've worked my butt off gathering enough Quicksilver to buy a Void Egg. I've progressed through most of the quest steps, but on the final step, where I have to assemble the parts, the game bugged out and is sending me infinitely across the Galaxy Map. I literally used up 14 Hypercores (don't ask how I got that many) trying to get to the destination planet. When I finally gave up, I had been at it for closer to 45 minutes. I took a break here and there, but in total it was about 45 minutes. I got a rhythm going too. Anyway, I finally gave up and teleported to my base where I started the warp cycle from using a Space Station's teleporter. Now here's what I've tried to do to fix it:

  • Downloaded NMSSaveEditor thinking it was a problem in the game files. Changed a line of text in the JSON for the BioShip quest. Relogged and saw that it gave me a brand new quest on top of the one I already had.

  • Warped to systems surrounding the one where I last did a step for the quest.

  • Relogged multiple times to see if that would work.

  • I even tried putting my laptop in to Airplane Mode and shutting down all network connectivity to see if that would fix it.

It seems like nothing I do to try to fix this works. And whenever I go search this problem up in Google, it brings up people whose quest bugs out at the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd step. Any help with this would be appreciated, but I know a lot of you are probably busy celebrating New Year's so I don't expect help right away.

Vignette [Question]

Ok so I’m playing NMS on ps4 and cannot stand the vignette. It gives me a headache and seriously reduces how well I can see things in the game. Well, recently I discovered that I can disable this in settings, and I was so happy! Until it stayed on. I set it to disabled and it just keeps doing it. Who would be interested in building on a planet with a large amount of ocean, with medium islands all around?

It's in Eissentam with earth like features..

Suggestion for game play - big 'ol ore mining vehicle! [Suggestion]

I dunno if Hello Games visits here often or not, but here's a suggestion I hope they read!

It's very simple - ever play the game called "Starflight" - I did, on sega genesis. This was way back 1991 maybe. I was new to 'complex' games like that at the time and really liked it. Though insectoid aliens kept vaporizing my ship for not being obsequious enough lol.

What I loved about that game was you could orbit a planet or moon, much like in Star Trek TNG episodes. You could scan, determine if anything of value was there to mine. Then you could fly down and land and let your little cutesy drone tank disembark. You then drove it around and mined ores.

I dunno about y'all but... I'd love to see NMS add a new vehicle. Similar to the "Moon Patrol" vehicle from the arcade... with 6 wheels and a thruster/jump ability maybe. Also, I'd like the vehicle to be large, as in, you can at least use 1st person mode to walk around inside the vehicle and go from station to station using various computers and also deploy a deep drilling bit to yank up a lotta ores that store on the vehicle. Maybe during a furious storm, you just stay in the vehicle until it passes or try to drive it back to your base or whatever.

But I'd love a big 'ol rover type vehicle to roll around in that can mine ore in the ground you park it on top of. I would also like this vehicle to coincide with the dev also making some really desolate planets and moons with extreme weather that would require use OF this vehicle in order to remain safe at all times. Upgrades to vehicle could include pontoons so your vehicle could float on water, or maybe a conversion kit to let it go underwater. Nothing as big as the Sand Crawler from star wars lol. Something more in line with maybe a diesel/trailer size.

Tip: hand out magnetic resonators after finishing the expedition [Discussion]

Since I finished the expedition every day I’ve been logging in to hand out magnetic resonators.

That will allow people to get off the planet to finish the sometimes very frustrating mineral search but isn’t enough of a boost to ruin their expedition experience.

One suggestion for the nms devs: a bit more explanation on some goals would be nice. I didn’t realize that mineral spawn locations were as definitive as they are. Just another cool thing I learned about the game on an expedition, but kind of frustrating to figure out.

Found a great planet with 18 toxicity- is this a reasonable level to deal with? [Question]

I'm a returning player after nearly 2 years!

As title says, I've found a great planet with a great biome of plants and animals, and I'm looking to potentially set up my new base here. The only gripe I have is that the atmosphere tox level is around 18. Is this considered normal in nice base planets or would this be a bit high?

I'm away from my console this week so I can't check but I can't remember if it's possible to protect from tox levels or make yourself immune, any advice?

Also what's the atmos. levels like on your "base planet"?

Wanting to start over, not sure if I should [Discussion]

I only started playing the game just before Christmas but already have 30+ hours in it (paltry compared to a lot of folks here but it hasn't been two weeks yet!) and I've gotten to a point where I feel like I have the rudimentary basics down. That said, I look at what I've done so far and am feeling the urge to start over again so it's not so...messy, I guess? I've got bases I don't even want to keep and I feel so disorganized!

Fighters vs Exotics [Question]

I've been to two different systems trying to find an Exotic Ship. In both I've found a fighter pop up (the ship type that has the chrome looking engine) but never an exotic. Expedition 3 is the worst one yet!!! [Discussion]

This expedition sucks so bad. I have had to scrounge for ferrite dust cause the planet has jacksh#t of it and jack left town. The extractor mission is a pain in the ass too. I am about six hours in and I am still on the planet I started on and my ship is still not fully functional. I loved the other expeditions but this one blows hard. Rant is over!!

System un-discovered? [Question]

I went back to visit the second system I had ever been to and it remembers that I’ve been to the planets there but none of my discoveries. All minerals, flora, and fauna are back to being Unknown even though I definitely scanned every last thing as a wee baby Traveller. It’s a system that someone else had originally discovered and I haven’t been back to in a few months. Is it normal to “forget” everything? Thanks!

More varied space stations [Suggestion]

Besides the abandoned stations, they're identical in layout, even music is the same... I get seasick with my ship being turned around to face back down the exit every time... Can't we at least have stations with entrances at either end of the runway? Could we have stations with parts/walkways that stretch out into space like on frigates? How about fuel stations where you can easily buy warp cells or tritium conveniently after you land? HG have been experimenting with more procedural interiors in Desolation and Frontiers so I'd love it if procedural space stations were to appear this year.

Sentinels and colonies [Question]

Do you think there should be a way to get rid of sentinels permanently or have a permanent autonomous way to fight them in colonies? I was thinking perhaps there could be barracks installations, or auto turrets you could build to have a way to fight them off of your colony.

Worst, most inhospitable planets. [Question]

Is there a collection somewhere of the worst planets? I may be fortunate but I have so many tropical and paradise planets in my area that I honestly don’t care. I find the brutal ones way more enjoying. There are also lots of frozen and toxic. Not too many heat death or radiated. Not sure which would be worst I have found but looking for the real punishing ones.

Stuck on Cartographers Expedition, can anyone help please? [Question]

So I'm relatively new to the game and just started a few weeks ago so sorry if this is a dumb question.

I did all the milestones for Cartographers except Industrialist. I have the survey visor but can't find a Mineral Extractor. When I go to research new blueprints there are very few there now - a teleporter, and maybe 8 other things? Definately less than earlier in this same save. When I go to place base components, the only tab is the the first one with Base Computer, Portable Refiner, etc. All the other tabs are gone like walls and things. Is this a glitch or did I do something somewhere that hid stuff? I haven't built many bases, really only the 1 with like 5 walls for the milestone and maybe placed 2 other computers.

Sorry for the wall of text, really would be greatly appreciated if someone had advice and or where to find mineral extractor blueprints - I did not ever buy them or get them either so even if I fix the missing menu options, I do still need them. Thanks!

I made a jump to another system then used a teleporter there to teleport to my base. But when I used my base teleporter to teleport to the space station in that system it isn't listed. My base teleporter won't let me teleport to other systems.. Does anyone know why?

How does the language practice work? [Question]

I've been talking to random NPCs to improve my language. But no matter what I say the NPC always seems offended. An example is I was speaking to a vykeen. Who said to me “death death death death death joyful warrior!” so naturally, I chose to say ‘death’ in the language practice. Now I'm an enemy with the vykeen.

Just wanted to know that is it possible to buy a S class blueprint ? Or even a A class blueprint or S and A class module can only be bought at a vendor ?

Freighter grinding [Question]

I used a portal to get to a system that has a capital freighter I’m interested in. Once I was in the system I warped to an adjacent system and was going to warp back to try and spawn the freighter rescue fight but the fight spawned in the adjacent system I warped to. Is there a way for me to warp to the system that has my freighter and spawn the fight without spawning one in an adjacent system? Ik that was wordy but any help would be greatly appreciated 👍

Got the game on Christmas for my ps5 and i love it, so much to do in it. Having a lot of trouble with the expedition objective: Geologist [Discussion]

I spawned on the planet Dice V20, and in this objective I need to discover 8 different minerals… After several hours of searching I’ve only found 4.

My discoveries are:

Damercite - massive mossy boulder that looks more like a landform

Wayldite - cluster of small boulders

Natiasite - stalactite

Watenite - stalagmite

I found absolutely no minerals underwater, only plant life.

If anyone knows 4 more species on this planet and where to find them, please let me know. I originally planned to leave this until after I got my ship working but I need to complete it to be able to craft resonators

Can you harvest plants from other people's bases? (Survival) [Question]

I made a giant farm for trade good mats & uploaded it to the community database. Is it possible for other folks to use it and be able to harvest resources? If they do, will it take those plants from my game or set me back if they don't replant after they harvest?

I'm hoping so. I want save people time and legwork if they don't want to run around and harvest everything manually like I did. It saves me a lot of time in the late game, and I want to offer that to others as long as it doesn't set me back.

Starbirth HELP ME PLEASE [Question]

Ok so I started this game like a month ago and i'm about ready to quit. I'm stuck on the Starbirth quest. I'm at the part where I've created the pulsating core. I got distracted and did other things and now I don't know what the next step is. I went to the galaxy map where the egg icon is and warped there. Then immediately it says "mission target is in another system" and the egg icon is somewhere else. I warp to that system and it says the same thing "mission target is in another system". I warp back and it's the same thing all over again. Am I missing something? I've scoured online and I can't find a solution.

Hurt [Bug]

My normal save of about 58 hours with I think around something like 200 million units and 30 thousand nanites along with about 7 thousand quicksilver just went back to when I had the starter ship. But what’s weird is, where I spawned is when I had all that stuff being 2 living ships 1 exotic and 4 normal ships which 2 were s class along with the exotic and living ships. I also had my huge base and all bases I’ve gone to some with ONLY my living ship. There’s no way to reverse it. I hurt. Now I’m starting a survival save. I pray it doesn’t happen again.

Audio Bug in Discord triggered by No Mans Sky (Other games don't interfered with audio) [Bug]

Am I the only one living this nightmare. Each time I'm playing with my friends, using Discord for audio chat, the game is messing with my mic and audio output at the same time. I lose every audio and my friends says my mic is bugging. I can't see the pop up window of Discord saying if I want to switch audio devices because it detected new devices or something.

Micro missions? [Discussion]

I was doing an expedition the other day and chanced on a small settlement while searching for crystal sulphide. Inside it looked like a trading post with the usual stuff: office area, trade terminal, multi-tool cabinet, and the side shop with the upgrade blueprints and components. What was different was that speaking to the owner or manager, he gave me a side quest of sorts: go to a certain marked area and search for a lost guy there.

At the site I found a crashed ship and helped the pilot to get it flying again, then I reports back to the small settlement and got a reward.

I enjoyed this and would like to see more events like that. Never ran into it before though.

Is this a regular thing? Was it somehow part of the expedition?

Base in Freighter vs Base on Planet [Question]

I'm not too sure which way to go here. What are the benefits of having a base in the Freighter? The planet base is more 'picturesque', have some resources nearby and provide the same benefits, i.e. storage space etc. So why would someone installs his main game in the Freighter?

Also, subsidiary question, I have added a base Teleporter in the Freighter, I can use it to goes out, but I can't teleport back, so if I'm forced to go to orbit to get to my freighter, this is super impractical. ?

Total noob enthusiasm post! [Discussion]

My husband and son got me the game for Christmas and I had a couple days off from my new job - oh wow!

I’m just trying to organically explore and slowly learn my way around… everything. My initial spawn planet killed me in the first minute or so, LOL. I’m like “How do the controls work?” And then I froze to death. It got better.

I found a crashed ship fairly early, figured out how to claim it, and have been (stupidly?) trying to mine and gather enough jawn to fix it. But at least I figured out how to rename it.

The Gek on the one space station I got to seem to like me. I’ve learned a few of their words and found them a bunch of buried idols. Do they really talk in … farts?

And I got an animal. I admit, having a giant purple butterfly as a buddy is a little weird, but he gave me an egg today - so that’s cool?

I’m at 4,294,967,295 units. I realized that when I sold my last two activated indium harvests (I should’ve got like 300M) that the number of units didn’t go up. Gas deposit limit? [Question]

I have placed 8 gas extractors at an „A“-place for oxygen. Each one is connected to my two gas deposits. When they are full and i‘m harvesting the 4‘000 Oxygen out of one deposit it automatically empties the other one as well without giving me the 4‘000 Oxygen of that second one. Freighter Teleporter [Discussion]

Ok so this idea has come to me recently and I thought I'd put it out there to see how plausible or possible it could actually be. You guys with more knowledge of the game might know better.

Most of you know that the only way to get back to your freighter is to fly back from planet side or the space station even though you can have a Teleporter on board.

So my thinking on this came about from using the Teleporter on the anomaly. This has a return to anomaly function when it's used and can be pretty handy for going down to bases and back.

So my question is.... Would it be possible to build an interstellar teleporter on your freighter? Both the freighter and the anomaly are similar in a lot of ways. It would be so much easier if you had a return to freighter option after teleporting down to a base.

Is there a way that could work or is there something in the game mechanics that would not make this work?

So been hunting for ships and I see T1/T2/T3 on all of them and tried looking at the galactic hub to see the differences. I'm specifically hunting for a nice fighter ship hopefully A/S tier but I saw that large ships are the only ones with 38 slots? Does that mean I can't get a cool needle fighter ship with the 38 slots and am stuck at 19? Or do the T1/T3 mean I can only find them in those galaxies with the corresponding economies?

Invisible base computer [Information]

Lately I had an issue with my base computer inexplicably vanishing from my base on PS5. The icon was there but the computer was invisible and therefore couldn't be interacted with. I know this has happened to others and from searching there didn't seem to be a fix.

Messing around I've came across a fix, worked for me and confirmed by another player who restored 3 low orbit best computers that had vanished.

Wire glitch a new base computer directly under the icon of the old one. (You have to wire glitch as the game won't naturally let you place another base computer down). Try and get it as close to the original spot as possible

Come out of the build menu and access the new base computer. it will probably say base already claimed.

Return to the build menu and now use the move function on the new computer, at this point the base icon should change to the 'edit base' icon.

Place it in a slightly different location, the old name of your base should return after you place it.

Exit build menu and upload base as normal, and save.

Hope this helps anyone who's had the same problem.

Newbie question - Trying to find a ship I claimed on a planet [Question]

Hi. I've been playing this game for only a few days, so I'm still trying to grasp some basics.

On an early mission/quest, I came upon a crashed ship. I claimed it for myself, and set about repairing it with everything I had on hand. I then left the planet in search of other materials and equipment to complete the repairs, but stupidly forgot to leave any teleport thingy to mark the location. Guess I just assumed it would be marked on my interface once I returned.

Is there any way at all to find the ship again without having to comb the planet manually? I'd hate to have wasted all of those components.

I'm a silly billy and got myself stuck in a system [Question]

I done and gone a stoopid.

I was doing Ex3 and swapped my exotic for a hauler because I needed more space, thought it was ugly and just generally hated it. Problem is I can't seem to get myself a hyper drive to get out of the 1st system. Can't summon anomaly, had a look for bases via the portal and been trying new ships with no luck. Am I missing something obvious or have I truly screwed myself? Stupid exotic is harming me from beyond the grave!!

How to reset mission's? [Question]

So I got my base set up, and my vyken gave me a mission to raid a depot. I raided the depot but with my ship's cannon and it didn't count. When I landed it tells me to raid it but it's all destroyed and I can't do anything. I even killed all sentinels.

Following route [Question]

Currently doing the scientist research mission looking for the circuit board blueprint by gathering data from an observatory. I have that mission selected, I go to my galaxy map and see that there is a green line showing me which system to travel to next. I’ve been warping from system to system following the line, I’m on my 8th warp now. Every time I check my galaxy map I notice that the route shown keeps extending or changing. Usually when I did a mission I’d see an icon somewhere showing me where to go or where I needed to go. Is this a bug or do I just keep warping and following this changing line hoping it will sort itself out? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated

Freighter - Capital Ship Glitch [Bug]

I was wondering if anyone else had this issue, I had a dreadnaught class for my capital ship, and my friend called in his in my system (which the game doesn't allow), and instead of just preventing him from calling it in it SWITCHED my dreadnaught to his Venator class freighter. Nothing on the inside changed, but my outside design changed. Is there any way to undo this? Or am I just stuck with the Venator now...

New Player wanting to share their experience [Discussion]

I recently started playing, as in started around the start of December and now have 150 hours played, and I want to share my experience as a new player. First off I did a fair amount of multi-player, when I started my brother and a friend followed me in. While I am aware that mods for the game exist, I feel that given the shared world we have that dipping into that with no clear word from the devs its better to not mess with them. I watched several youtube videos regarding the game before playing it, but the ones that finally drew me in was stuff from survival bob. This is only important as it was how I knew to jumpstart my wallet (crashing markets with cobalt).

My first world I started in had a radioactive environment I cannot say there was anything memorial about it as I left at my first opportunity. After that I moved to my second planet a Viridescent Planet, in the same system, while it had Aggressive Sentinels I rarely ever saw them, the water was red, the plants were red, the dirt was, red... and when it went night it went pitch black. The Bubbles were a tad magical though.

Ultimately I started exploring looking for a better world, I was aiming for an earth-like, but after visiting a couple dozen systems in my area I found nothing that satisfied. Early on while doing this I got my first ship, aside from the pillar of course, it was a shuttle, nothing special about it but it was better then the Pillar. I fell for the new player trap and got the first free freighter I encountered, it was a small sized S class.

It was when I was looking for a new home that I really started hanging around with my brother and friend, on one of our sojourns we were hanging around my brother's starter ice world, which he seems to like for some odd reason, our friend found a wrecked ship, a C-Class T3 Hauler.

Emergence Worm Planets [Question]

Hello interlopers!

I’ve been going around in space looking for the worm planets that got introduced in the Emergence expedition.

I’m not seeing any in the wild. I’ve jumped a lot, used three hyper cores in total on an upgraded ship with a lot of range. Checked all types of systems. I find regular worms but none of the infested planets. Is it just me being unlucky or am I missing something?

Having some video issues [Question]

I’ve had NMS before ok PS4, but I just got it on PC. Did the usual settings run through but the game seems quite choppy. Nothing changes after lowering the graphics after restarting, and the game ran better on my old PS4. Anyone else had these issues and is there anything else I can try? Not the end of the world if there isn’t, it would just be nice to have higher frames

Base Building Issue? [Bug]

Has anyone else experienced this issue in No Mans Sky VR (via Oculus Quest 2)?

When I go to place objects inside the cylindrical base, it keeps deleting the base. For instance, I can't place the construction terminal in the base or it, and the terminal + overseer get deleted. I just tried placing a save point in the base and it deleted my bass too.

Unlike regular deleting where it just converts the item to its constituent resources, it doesn't even give me my resources back. I've wasted so much pure ferrite on trying to build this base over and over again and I'm fuming.

Terrain Manipulation for bases [Question]

I've been playing NMS for a few weeks.

I built a farming base with 12 biodomes on what was a hilly area that I flattened with the terrain manipulator. I flattened the area, placed a grid of square rooms and corridors, then biodomed each room (except for the teleporter room).

I came back after the holidays and the hills were back and I had to dig out my whole base. FML.

Is there anything that I can do to keep terrain manipulation permanent, or do I have to choose between digging out or rebuilding?

How can I make 173M without warping? [Question]

Hello adventurers, today we are facing another challenge.

I just got offered to buy a S tier capital freighter for 178M units. Right now I only have 5M, so ... Only need 173 more to go ... And without warping away to another system !

I can process chlorine and then when I'm out of oxygen, go hunt for tempest crystals, but this will take me a couple of hours. If you have any idea for faster income you are welcome 😁

Cannot reach center [Question]

Am at the end of the galactic center path. I looked the process up on websites and watched youtube videos. From what I have read/watched, I verify and do the following.

  1. Verify end of the path, only one line from that system to the center.

  2. Hyperdrive is full (I tried refilling 3 times, its full as it gets),

  3. I move the yellow selector (pc) to the path line to center.

  4. Path line turns a brighter orange and a spinning circle appears on it.

  5. Press and hold the left mouse button.

Per videos, it should show a progress circle inside the spinning one, then change to the galactic center with an option to warp. Instead of a progress circle inside the spinning one, it just immediately does a warp sequence and drops me in the same system where I was. I do not get the screen with the galactic center and option to left for warp.

I've done this repeatedly, relogged, moved to another system, moved several systems, relogged, flew back. even tried not pressing and holding left after the circle appears (this times out after a few seconds and deselects, rest do the same warp to where I am). I am running out of ideas...help?

If I sell to random planets terminals, does it crash the whole economy of the star system? If so, what is the best way to find high buying price traders from trade stations or space stations?

The really need to fix the start of the game it is terrible [Suggestion]

For starters the damn tutorial is completely intrusive to the point thet people get bored of it and drop the game entirely. The planets you start on many times don't have enough resources to do whatever the tutorial wants you to do or even basic carbon to survive. Why the hell do all the starting planets have to have hazardous conditions and no caves? its completely stupid and rigged against the player, the tutorial is already a chore to do and you only make it more annoying. How the hell is that some tutorial objectives spawn so far away you are never going to be able to get to with hazardous conditions with no caves but this objectives can even spawn in another planet... so to fix your ship you need to go to another planet to get the materials!!!

I wanted to play this with my GF and this tutorial/start of the game is a complete circus, she now had to restart the game in another planet where to see if she can get one with actual caves and where the objective blueprint to fix her ship is not on the other side of the planet where she is expected to get in a hazardous zone with no caves at all.

All this updates are great and all but how about to fix the start of the game? seriously this needs a complete revamp or at least an option to opt out of this trash tutorial.

Can't do my story Quest [Question]

So I just got into the quest where I'm supposed to use the mission board so that I rank up my popularity with the Gek species. However when I follow the icon to the guy I have to talk to, he simply says that he dislikes me and my only option is to leave. I visited another space base and I could do the missions with other races, just not with that one, but I need to do them in order to continue the story. What do I do? I'm honestly lost by now.

How to find lost mission location? [Question]

I am trying to clear out some of the very early “tutorial” missions after running off and exploring randomly in the middle of them. In particular, I have lost the location of the Nautilon on the “Dreams of the Deep” mission. None of the systems near my base show the mission icon nor does the option to select “current mission” appear in the galactic map.

How do I find the right system so I can finish the mission and clear it from the log?

Seriously, I finished the quest to gather the materials for this thing and I can't build it, and no, before you start blaming me I am checking the install technologies section on the ship, not the crafting menu, so I can't build this.

Searched on the net and this is a known bug and has been for years and the only solutions I found was to restart or use a save editor...

Has anyone used the save editor method? is it safe to do it or this will be a trend from now on on this save? (missing blueprints etc.)

I think they should do a massive bug fixing patch now.

How to move game save from microsoft store to steam? [Question]

I played NMS with xbox game pass and I own the game on steam now. How do I get my save from the microsoft store version and put it in steam? I asked this before and someone said it's possible but I dont remember how. Do I need to download something from github to do it? The only file I was able to find in NMS is NGUIUSERSETTINGS.MXML. under localcache>gamedata>mods>exported>metadata>UI>. Is this the save file? All of the other folders are empty. This sounds like a settings config file to me but it's the only one I could find.
