Expedition 3 Phase 5 [Question]

this is my first expedition and I'm confused about phase 5. I've done about 20 jumps following the thin red line but I'm starting to wonder if I'm going in the right direction..

How are people building in my base [Question]

So with this new expedition 3 update I built my base out of the way from everyone on top of a super tall mountain. While I was managing my inventory some chucklefuck spammed a bunch of new base stuff INSIDE my base blocking my door to my landing pad. Their base computer was built inside the middle of my base and labeled “get off my mountain”.

First of all I went out of my way to build where no one was, second, how the fuck are people building their structures inside my base when I can’t even terrain manipulate outside of someone else’s base to get gravitino balls buried outside their base limits.

Luckily “reporting” their base through their computer removed it and their spam garbage. But I could still hear the fuckwad trying to build again.

Game is causing ps5 to overheat [Question]

I have never had an issue of my ps5 overheating in the 10 months i’ve had it. But now it’s happened several times while i’m on this game , usually when i’m in the anomaly. The ps5 gives me a notification and says it’s too hot. What should i do? does anyone know?

Can't Join Friend Through Multiplayer [Question]

If anyone has a solution to help please let me know! My friend and I are both playing on pc through steam. When I go to multiplayer to join him sometimes his name shows up and other times it doesn't. When his name does show up and I click to join it says "Joining Lobby" then "Connecting" and then nothing happens and I am still on the main menu.

So basically when I do something like refuel a generator I lose my fuel and the machine is out of power again I turn on the oxygen generator for a minute come back and there's 1 oxygen and the most weird I was refining oxygen and silver and the silver was replaced with ferrite dust can someone help meeee!!?!?

Rainbow no man's sky [Bug]

So I started a new games to try out the settlements but the mission wont come up and Ive tried using the charts and nothing...how far do you have to go to get it? Already half way through all the base folks missions and more so with Artemis and nothing....any ideas?

"A leap in the dark", second bug in 2 steps? [Question]

I opened this yesterday because the game was bugging out. A user commented with a fix that seemed to work for me and I could proceed to the ancient sites now marked on the map.

Problem is that now I've gotten 1 ancient site down the second is impossible to interact with. It's a normal underwater one that forces you to listen to some tale of alleged wisdom. There is also a chest underneath it which granted me a treasure, but nothing else. My marker continues to hover over the area despite there being nothing to interact with. I've destroyed all terrain around the site in hope to find something, but there really is nothing there.

The amount of bugs in the main quests in this game are absolutely embarassing. Almost every single quest the first intuition is to assume it's just not working again. I'm 2 steps into this quest and both of them bugged out on me.

Stuck on first planet [Question]

I need to repair the Pressurization Capsule with two Herox, but can’t find any after walking for hours. I can’t leave this damn planet! Finally came across a trade station, but there’s never any Herox. I’ve come across numerous floating crystals to try to get a rare alloy, but never any Herox. I’m getting frustrated and might give up on this expedition, I do not know what I’m doing wrong. Please help!

Star Brambles aren't growing? [Question]

I'm setting up a circuit board farm on a planet that already grows star bulbs so I've planted them outside, and everything else in biodomes. Everything but the star brambles are growing fine but it's been 24 hours and they haven't grown a bit. I think they're reasonably spaced? Is there something I' missing?

First Traveler Apollo Portal Bug [Bug]

So I just hit about 70 hours of gameplay in about 3 weeks and I’ve come across a bug with the First Traveller quest to charge the portal glyphs for Apollo. It appears the quest market has vanished from the portal I should be doing this for as I’ve tried several other portals to no avail. I’m simply stuck on the same quest step with no marker indicating what portal needs to be charged in an infinite universe. I’ve tried every troubleshoot I could find when searching this issue online. No luck trying to reset mission by going into deep space and like I said no other portal has triggered progression for the quest. This bug has apparently been around since 2018 so I’m shocked to see this hasn’t been addressed by devs or a known solution. I’m playing on console, for reference. Any suggestions?

16/16 portal not working [Question]

There may be some spoilers ahead. After I talked to Apollo at the holo terminal, I went to the portal that the quest marked. I activated all the glyphs, and the portal turned on. The quest guide tells me to enter the portal, but when I try I just walk through the glowing blue part and stay on the same planet. Did I miss something? Am I supposed to have learned glyphs by this point (none show up in my catalogue)? Is this just a bug?

A big thank you (Expo 3) [Spoiler]

Spent ages using the cart maps and signal booster to find an abandoned building for the laval eggs on the 1st rendezvous moon. Then resorted to just flying around using a communication beacon as a directional aid while scanning and when I got to there it had been placed at one saying "Monsters" 🙏 didn't note the name I'm afraid, you're a interloping legend, thanks. Makes a difference from the griefer who killed me 10 minutes into the expo 🙄, I forgot to turn of PvP!!!!

Expedition 3 is bad. [Discussion]

I love the idea behind this expedition and how much work goes into fixing your ship and not being able to buy a ship to escape but does anyone else feel like there is too much on that planet? It was a laggy nightmare until I finally made liftoff. 😮‍ I have a very high end PC and it crashed multiple times on that planet. Never crashed in NMS before. Overall it's still enjoyable but some of the milestones are lame.

Just finished full clearing the expedition, here are some thoughts [Discussion]

The summit a mountain one was fun.

Airborne for 30 seconds? Not at all balanced. I was only able to complete it because I found a cluster of deuterium plants and I was able to "juggle" then sorta. I heard on discord a lot of people cheesed it w/ some hole in the ground or something.

The base building quest was confusingly worded. It made it sound like you had to place a construction blueprint thing to complete the quest, but instead what you had to do was just build a whole bunch of floor/walls/ceiling to complete it, and you're then rewarded the construction blueprint.

Why say "place a construction blueprint machine" when you don't have access to that machine until after you complete the quest?

The "mine 1000 resources with machines" seemed awful, until I looked at other people's bases and realized you could place multiple machines on a node. So props to that quest for teaching me something I guess.

The mineral quest, for how early in the game it is, was extremely painful.

Expedition 3 Larval Core [Question]

Hey travellers, this is my first expedition. Started playing this week for the first time.

The start has been a bit difficult but now thing flow nicely with the help of other players equipment along the way.

I am now working on fixing the last piece of my ship and it requires larval core. Is there a way to get it quickly? I am trying to find an abandoned building but to no avail so far. Any tips for that? Thanks!

I think we can all agree the game has plenty of features now that make it an interesting and replayable game. But what's that one thing missing?

My thing, more realistic star systems. I mean gas giants you can't land on, more moons, more uninhabited planets, and my main request for more realism, absolutely number one, environment variety on planets. I mean colder poles and warmer equator, volcanic regions, mountain regions, plains, forests. Not just wherever you go on one planet it's more or less the same.

Unable to get back to the Nexus in Expedition mode [Question]

I am currently trying to finish Expedition Phase 4, specifically, 'Network Online'. I understand the objective, but I have no way of completing it. I don't have the Teleporter unlocked, and I have no option to get back to the Nexus to purchase the plans. I had the option to get to the Nexus previously, but it seems like it vanished after I was able to start flying with my ship.

Is there something I am missing?

How do I find an Outposts!? [Question]

Ok, maybe I'm being dense or stupid, but I've been trying to find an outpost for the Expedition for the last 4 hours and nothing.

By this point I'm done with everything else up to that point (and 4 things from the next level), but for the life of me I can't find an outpost. I've used a lot of different navigation charts and they've taken me to many, MANY, different buildings, but no "Outpost". I still have a few navigation data that I can trade for more nav charts, but I'm out of ideas...

The mission help says "use the Minotaur scan". Nothing. Ship scan? Nothing. Rover scan? Nothing.

Any help, tips, ideas? Please...

AI Farm Guide (Activated Indium - Billion Units every day - Frontiers Update) [Information]

Overview

Yes this is overdone, Yes it's easy for me to say "this is simple". But trust me it is.

I have overdone this so that any problems you might find are solved here and if you have more just comment and I'll gladly respond. You don't need to read everything. Just read the "General Step-By-Step" and if you want more info read the individual sections. Disclaimer

I won't be explaining the use of B or C class mineral deposits, I would reccomend finding a better spot before you start your farm.

Good News This does apply to farming other minerals, i think.

This works as of the Frontiers (Settlements) Update General Step-By-Step Find a planet with activated indium (these can only be found in indium systems (the blue ones) and are not the same as planets with regular indium) On said planet find an AI deposit (A or S class is highly reccomended) Find an electromagentic hotspot within ~1000 units Place base computer between the two spots and claim Find the center by looking at the percentage underfoot (get the closest spot to maximum (it will never reach maximum)) (the center of the deposit is not the highest percentage all the time) Build your mineral extractor pillar either by clipping 4-5 into the center spot and then another 4-5 on top and so on as high as you want or by placing 4-5 seperate extractors surrounding the center of the hotspot and then going up layer by layer Build your power supply in the center of the power hotspot either by clipping or stacking them on top of each other until you have enough power (you can always come back and add more) make a chain of wires from the hotspot to the depoisit to join all your power to all of your extractors (if you clip well you should only have to connect one wire to each area of clipped objects) clip or individually place however many supply depots you want in one grid...

Briefer advice please [Question]

Autocorrect will be the death of me. I definitely typed Griefer. Question: I started Expeditions. The area is littered with bases and I couldn’t see mine so I started over and built on a mountaintop. A player is super mad. Wanted to know how I was able to build on ‘his’ territory. Clearly it wasn’t or I could not have claimed the base. First he killed me with his Minotaur. Then he came into my hut, told me to leave and when I didn’t respond he killed me again. I came back and we had a little fight in my hut. Of course I died again but I did it to get the gamer tag on a screen shot. So now he’s down there building a very nice temple looking base, but I’m pretty sure he’s still mad. So…is this all allowed and typical of Expeditions? Because if it is I really can’t be bothered. I’m not currently wearing my headset and I’m absolutely not going to figure how to message in game just to get yelled at by this prick, so it’s unlikely we will be friends. I’m not putting his name because I’m guessing there are doxing rules, but is there a report option?

I have a system where any time I use a settlement chart, it keeps finding settlements off planet. I have reloaded so many times at this point and it just isn't spawning a settlement on this planet.

Am I missing something? Do settlements only spawn on certain planets?

Expeditions 3 - Industrialist Milestone Survey Device bug [Bug]

I thought I'd be cute and upgrade my crappy pistol for a A class rifle - Too bad there is no where to learn the Survey Device blueprint in this reality. Do I just get fucked and have to restart the stupid expedition? Ugh I'm not fond of grinding under a timeline like this.

  • before you ask yes I looked at the blueprint machine I can build in base

  • No I can not call up the Nexus like my UI tells me to do

  • yes I hacked a factory and tried to learn a new blueprint

  • yes I have looked for one of those weird traders in a owl cove with the other rando person standing in a room next to a gun locker and trade terminal

  • yes I have submitted a ticket to NMS help

  • yes I am exhausted, pissed off, and a little sweaty...

None of them have the Survey Device blueprint and I think you only get the damn thing once.

Things I wish I knew before starting the current expedition [Information]

Do not approach the expedition with the same mindset as the main game. In the main game you can waste resources because your ship is easily repaired and then you can just fly to a different spot, different planet, or different system. In expeditions it takes a lot more effort to get your spaceship functional than it does in the main game.

Resources are important. Do not spend anything you don't need to. Especially for salvage tech data. Do not buy anything that does not serve an explicit purpose to progressing you to another milestone.

Regarding salvaged tech data: In the main game the portable research thing only has a small subset of parts but in expeditions, the portal base research unit has all techs you need to get off the planet.

You spawn next to a galactic trade terminal. At first glance it looks like a shit terminal because it has nothing but small quantities of basic stuff. This "basic stuff" is actually vital crafting ingredients that you need to get off the planet. The quantities are small but the regen times are fast. It only takes a few minutes for it to be back to maximum capacity. You can (and should) buy batteries and life support from here.

The planet has fossils and storm crystals. Gather them. You'll need 3 storm crystals for crafting but sell the rest. This should give you more than enough money to just buy all the silver, gold, ferrite, and other (can't remember what other stuff you need but just grab it all if in doubt).

You need copper to make chromatic metal. You can get some copper as a secondary from minerals in caves, but you'll probably need to mine a vein. You can maximize the ore output of a vein by using the smallest setting on your terrain manipulator. This is a very important tip,...

Tropical Planet Help [Question]

I've come back to No Man's Sky after years away. I'm on the Patterns of Time mission and need to take a photo of a tropical planet to complete the last of two missions for the Gek cartographer to increase my standing. Easy! Or so I thought... I've been to 13 new systems now and have still not found a tropical planet. On the mission path on the galaxy map, it's taking my another 12 stops until it lands on a system where there is (I assume) a tropical planet. Do I need to keep following the path until I reach the final stop? Or is there a better way?

I just finished the current expedition and I think it was the best one so far. [Discussion]

It was short and not all that grindy. It was just long enough to keep it entertaining and I didn't have to suffer through a load of loading screens while traveling to distant rendezvous points.

My only complaint would be the 30 second fall quest, but I constructed a high up base to counter that problem. ( It's called "Stairway to Heaven" If you're interested in checking it out. )

Unit making tips [Question]

So I’m struggling for units atm, keep finding that everything that’s a step-up from what I have (ships, freighters, multi-tools etc) are well beyond my reach and every time I get more units I find prices have shot up again. So does anyone have any tips to get some cash raked in? I’ve heard the chlorine farm thing is now nerfed, but yet to try it yet tbh

Crash at first antimatter base combat [Bug]

New game Normal. First base where you get the antimatter blueprint. Trying to get some eggs, crashes fighting the bio horrors every time. Another player has the game saved at the same spot, he has the same issue on his system to, same place even when playing solo.

Any fixes? Just a bugged location, or a bigger issue?

Whispering Egg Companion? [Question]

I was at the Nexus looking for missions and than i saw someone giving me an Whisperin Egg Companion thingy? Yeah i know that PC users can make any creature a companion and so on but am somewhat new to the whole game itself. How do i get it as actual companion since it doesnt say anything in my Inventory, only 'ready to hatch.' It also doesn't show an actual Egg as icon but the creature itself. I also cannot put it in the incubator in the Anomaly.

Game broke for 2nd time [Bug]

I play on XSX an had over 1k hours accumulated between 2 saves, my main and a alt, i decided to try Expeditions, it kept crashing so i turned of Multiplayer which sorted it then i went for dinner so turned the game of.

Upon logging back in it said Expedition complete even though i hadn't fixed one part of the ship, so i thought weird, saved, logged out and restarted the game, game loads up i press A to get past title screen to log a character in and it crashes again, this continues even after a hard reset, uninstall/reinstall and soft deletion of save games of the console.

Im left with one option, or 2 if you count just waiting an hoping something happens, a complete deletion of my saves so it stops downloading them, so i go fudge it and do it.

This worked, i was able to make a new character and completed every step in the Expedition fine.

So i wandered a bit found a settlement and started building it up and in meantime got myself a freighter and started exploring, building up resources and hitting manufacturing plants etc for BP.

Everything going fine i log of an go for lunch, come back, log back in and am greeting by the message Expedition Complete will now revert to a normal save, the same message i got first time round so it gets my brain going but i continue playing for abit then go fudge it i'll see, so i save and restart the game and yip you guessed it game crashes when i press A to get by the title screen.

Anyone any idea whats going on or how to fix without complete save deletion?

I have a settlement already on a bubble planet. I accepted it and even built some buildings already. Figured i want to build an AI farm next to it but there is no deposit nearby. If i use a settlement chart it doesn't find a new settlement but instead points me to my existing settlement. Can i do something to find another one? I read somewhere you can find more in the wild by just flying around.

Some quick (and hopefully) easy questions! [Question]

  1. So, I started the expedition the other day and was progressing nicely, but in a moment of auto-pilot I sold the larval cores, gravatino balls and other stuff, is there another way to get these (I know I can get Larval cores from the eggs) or will it just be easier to start again? If starting again, should I, or do I need to, delete the current expedition game first?

  2. I'm on PC, how do I use the "free look" function?

  3. On my normal game I decided to finally start building an actual base with all the mod-cons, but I can't hook up the health thingy to the power cables - how is this thing supposed to work? I've looked around the whole thing and it does not have the usual connection point.

Looking for help on base building [Question]

I'm now 200 hours into the game and have never really gotten into base building. With the new changes to the system in the Frontiers update, I was hoping I could change that and try my hand at building a few different types of bases.

However, the thing that has been putting me off from doing so for a long time is how buggy the whole system seems to be. I would like to build my first proper base on a flat surface. But most of the times the terrain isn't flat., which is all well and good, but I've tried using the terrain manipulator to flatten a large area but to no avail. Either objects like stairs, panels and such won't be visible or even placeable, or I will start building a base only to load the game the next day and find out the terrain has grown back again which ruins the base or that there are creatures burrowing through the structures like it's nothing. What am I doing wrong here? How do I solve these issues? I've seen plenty of outstanding builds, but I have no idea how to actually "prepare" the terrain to even properly start building my base.

Only 30 hours in survival, I think it's time to restart on Normal [Bug]

I was looting some ruins, had a couple million worth of stuff on me - a considerable amount for my progress.

I got randomly yeeted horizontally across the terrain at some insane velocity and lost it all.

Haven't really died from combat yet.

At this point, I don't think Survival is so much a proper difficulty level as it is a "can you manage your item storage by crafting tons of bases" simulator...

So if that's all I'm losing, I think I might just play normal.

I wouldn't be bothered by it if it was my own fault lol

How do exocraft blueprints become available? [Question]

I know that you can get them through the story, but I've accidentally pissed off a faction so hard that it'll take me weeks to progress in the story. I see the components at the anomaly, but not the vehicles themselves. There are no blueprints for exocraft in the construction research computer even though I've unlocked all of the technology that I can see. Is unlocking it through the story the only option now?

Tale of two sads [Information]

I claimed a B grade settlement on a Barren planet because I liked the “in the pit” location, and started a base near the pit rim. I planted a bunch of echinocactus because it said right on the description “native to barren worlds” and to be sure only to plant outside in barren biomes.

Sad #1-growing time is infinity. I guess by barren they meant not barren.

Sad#2-during the latest sentinel raid on my settlement, where I did fight off all the baddies within a couple minutes, my settlement rating dropped to C. WTF? I don’t see anything to fix, and I still have same population, happiness, and production, so no idea why it downgraded.

Oh, I lied, there are really 3 sads. The base building controls are still too frustrating to deal with so I have half a stone building and a couple prefabs instead of the glorious village I intended to build on the rim. I will wait, it isn’t going anywhere…

No Man's Sky FPS drop and Character Movement Bug [Question]

Hi. I just began the game and as it seen in the video, my frame rates always suddenly drop and my character moves weirdly for a second. I couldn't figure out how to solve this.

I tried some solutions that didn't work.

  • Changed NumHighThreads and NumLowThreads.

  • Setted UseTerrainTextureCache and UseArbSparseTexture to true

  • Disabled VSync.

  • Lowered graphic settings.

Absolutely love this game! Huge astronomy nerd! Could use a little help. [Question]

Hi guys, so when I first got to the anomaly two days ago, someone I never met gave me a item randomly that sold for over 20 million credits! As I have, on my best day, two or three hours to play as a new dad, that little bit of money made my game time I have much more enjoyable as I could really focus on the story lines and even got a cool B class ship, but that is sadly all I was able to get after I bought some inventory space.

If anyone has any units they would be willing to part with to someone who is absolutely in love with the game, but on a very insanely strict play schedule (I rarely even get to play with sound because I only play when my baby sleeps), it would be much appreciated. I'm not trying to cheese the game, I would rather just spend more time exploring and making bases than 1 or 2 of my daily 3 hours mining with very little actual gameplay.

I'm on PS4 by the way!

Over a week since it launched and i still can't progress the settlements due to a nasty bug. [Discussion]

So on launch started doing the settlements but couldn't deposit materials to the first non overseer building due to a bug, so thought ok i will start over with a new settlement what i did, built a Overseer building but found i couldn't make choices or build anything. Need help with an issue i have selling a product... [Question]

So i grabbed some items from my settlement it has produced and i go to the nearest space station terminal to sell the stuff. It had a huge -20% demand because it was ''produced locally''.

So i went ''ok'' and went to the other side of the galaxy where my Oxygen farm is and went to sell it there. It still said ''produced locally'' with -18% demand. Can anyone explain why its ''produced locally'' when i went to literally the other side of the galaxy?

Is my settlement broken? [Bug]

I went to the first settlement I got alerted to but it was on a terrible planet that had raging firewalls every 3 minutes and it was very annoying. However I did build my first building after the Overseer building was built. I also settled a few disputes. The firestorms were too much so I searched and found a paradise planet and took over that settlement and it destroyed my old one. However I built my overseer building and then nothing.. for days. I haven't settled a dispute, I haven't had the option to build a building. Nothing. I did log in yesterday after the most recent patch and sentinels had overrun my settlement so I got to fight them but still nothing. My settlement just goes more and more in debt because Ive never been given the option to build a building in the new one. Part of me thinks behind the scenes the game didn't completely close out my old settlement and its preventing my new one from triggering events. Should I go find another or just wait it out?

So I got very drunk last night playing the expedition. And during that time I unlocked the large refiner in order to make herox.

But now I need to craft the exocraft.

Now normally you would unlock these things at the space anomaly. But today the anomaly doesn't appear on my summoning menu. And I can't see it in space in case in had already summoned it in.

Base cuboid expansion issue [Question]

Hey, I found a way to expand base cuboid by placing something, i used generators since i had to provide electricity for my mining facility. I logged off, came later today and i couldnt build on the "expanded cuboid". The problem is, placing those generators again doesnt help at all. Any way to fix that? Can’t farm chlorine any more [Question]

Hey y’all. So before this last update I would go to space stations and sell a full inventory of Corine, and get about 500 million for it. Then of course I would buy it all back once it crashed for like 30 million, go fly to another space station that you could buy chlorine at, and keep repeating that. So of course I have several billion. However, after this last update when I sell it to a space station I don’t get nearly as much, and when I buy it back I make absolutely no profit. So maybe it crashes a soon as you sell a few thousand? That’s sad! I was going to max out my money at 9,999,999,999. Oh well! Does the iridium farms still work?

When can I safely stop doing storyline quests? [Question]

How long does this Artemis quest go on? I'm more of an explorer and builder than a storyline kinda player. And I just want to do what I want to do, and not go places the game tells me to. But at the same time, I don't want to miss out on key parts of the game that may unlock cool things. I'm quite a ways in already, I think I just finished 'ghost in the machine' IIRC.

Settlement building timer [Discussion]

Does anyone else think there shouldn’t be a timer after you add materials to a building in your settlement?

I got on last night to see how the settlements worked, and started to build a second building after the office, just to be met with a two hour timer.

Now instead of being able to start really building a settlement today, i’m pretty much getting on the game, adding one component then playing another game for two hours.

This is something i’d expect from a free mobile game trying to promote micro transactions, not a console/pc game.

Satellite Station for my settlement and an Activated Indium Farm [Build]

Help with Expedition 3 ship's seed [Question]

TLDR: If you have a squid or a roundest Guppy (no fins above or below, no mosquito, any tail is ok) could you please share the seed (from savegame editor)?

So after finding out you get the expedition ship model based on your username I changed mine but got a very similar model (largest dorsal fin, short flaps)

I play using GOG's version and they allow you to change username only once every 30 days, otherwise I wouldn't mind redoing expedition again.

I've checked seed-share websites but they don't have expedition models (increased hyperdrive).

I'm looking for a round Guppy (with no dorsal fins, no mosquito, no delta wings), any type of tail or thruster is ok; or a squid. If you have this model and a savegame editor can you please share your ship's seed?. Thanks

Settlement Bug: Villagers getting stuck behind game generated furniture [Bug]

Settlement villagers getting stuck behind generated furniture with no way to get out.

I noticed that my village seemed to have less people walking about and eventually found them outside a building (one that was built as a building opportunity after acquiring the settlement) stuck behind a table and chair. This table and chair was generated as part of the building and now NPC's have pathed behind them and are now stuck. It's like a friggin Bermuda Triangle. NPC pathing was not thought out well when you begin taking into account that the landscape WILL change due to building opportunities that are a part of the settlement process. Players should have better editing capabilities over generated items that they can also create like furniture. A player could then move an obstruction holding villagers hostage, or even just remove stuff that is not aesthetically pleasing. I know there are a bunch of generated items that I would delete out because they look bad.

I didn't know Extreme Storm Planets are a thing?! [Discussion]

Yesterday afternoon I traveled to a star system not far from my permadeath starting point. I thought I was doing quite good this playthrough after making it past 30 hours on the save file. Then this happened: I found a planet titled Boiling. It had activated copper and extreme sentinel activity on the list. Stupid me, thought it would be fun to explore a boiling planet. I've never seen one before. Oh my gawd the Gravitino Balls were all over the place! So I had fun collecting and dodging attacks, as one does. You know. I was laughing my butt off at how easily I was making money. But then an extreme storm ruined everything! Storm Crystals were ripe for the picking so I wagered I had survived waves of sentinel attacks, this storm would be a cake walk. Oh man, if only I had known what extreme storms were capable of. I would never have stepped outside my ship that night if I had. Off in the distance, through the swirling tempest, I saw a cluster of glowing rocks some 200 units away. I thought it mesmerizing to behold forked lightning at night. So surreal. So beautiful. So odd that the clouds in front of me were swirling and billowing in the inky blackness. Then in an instant the wind turned evil, howling louder and louder unlike anything I'd ever witnessed. I made it to the Storm Crystal outcropping just in time. A little shaken, but mostly burnt by the 570 °F boiling atmosphere. I refilled my hazard protection meter and set off to find my space ship again. Before I knew what hit me I was hundreds of feet up in the air! Wtf? In the middle of the night? Surrounded by tornadoes! TORNADOES? WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F%@& ?!? I had no idea tornadoes were a thing in this game! After freaking out I came to my senses and used my jet pack to try to land as softly as possible, but it was no use. The first landing took half my shield. The menacing winds were pushing me around the...

PS5: Can’t start new expedition. =/ [Question]

I finally got some time to play NMS and so I went to start the new expedition, but for some daft reason it’s not letting me start/create one!

All the other modes (Normal, Survival, ect) let me make one, but the Community Expedition is not letting me make a new one. There’s a bar on top of the image saying “Downloading Data…� but it sits there forever and never changes. And, yes, I checked and the game is currently updated to the most recent patch.

Anybody else have this problem/know how to work around this with their PS5 version of the game??

Expedition: placing the pilgrim exocraft completed the minotaur milestone [Bug]

Multiplayer off, I couldn't place the pilgrim bay remotely close to my base computer for unknown reasons. The only location the game accepted was at the perimeter of my base. Not sure if this has anything to do with triggering the bug.

It was a super convenient bug because I had launched my ship before unlocking the minotaur blueprint at the construction terminal.

Artemis bug?? [Question]

So I’ve put this off for ages but recently come back to the game for the 3rd expedition.

This is surrounding the Remembrance blueprint which I never received. Ages ago, I restarted the entire game to hopefully get around it but alas, to no avail.

I’ve completed the Atlas primary mission and got the Star Seed but never any blueprint for Remembrance.

So, that in mind and having read a million posts here there and everywhere I’ve since scrambled my brain.

The only ‘primary mission’ I have in the log is “The Space Anomaly - Beyond the System”. I appear to be stuck on “continue to help Artemis”.

What am I missing?

Expedition 3: Construction Research Unit no longer gives extended list of options. [Bug]

So, like a lot of people, I'm progressing through this expedition. Phase 1 is complete, phase 2 and 3 have just one objective left, 4 and 5 still have a few to do.

But I've hit a snag. The phase 3 objective I need to do is 'Industrialist'. But ever since I got off Gisto Major (and maybe even before that), the Construction Research Unit now only gives the standard list of items for me to exchange salvaged tech for. So I can't purchase a supply depot or a supply cable.

Is there any other way to get the technology plans I need? The anomaly isn't available in Expedition mode.

Expedition 3 starting ship [Question]

Just curious if there is a way to get a different starting exotic ship/MT/apperance. Every time i start a new save on Expedition 3 its the same models. The ship im getting is one with a large fin on top and when in 3rd ship view it bothers me. I know i can get other ships but they do not have the custom components (900 warp rating and so on). Expedition 3 and Twitch Rewards [Question]

Hey travelers, I completed expedition 3 today. My first expedition since I started to play this week and I wanted to know if the expedition and twitch drops are shared between saves? Can I get them in each of my saves or only on once?

I started a save with 12-13 hours before jumping into expedition 3 and it seems that the save for expedition 3 is better because all of the upgrades we got along the way but still wanted to understand if once I claim those rewards their gone from the anomaly or not for existing saves. Thank you

Can't launch Cartographer's Expedition on Gamepass PC? [Question]

Hoping folks here can help me out! Unable to find the answer via searching online and here on the subreddit so if it's been answered already I simply didn't find it.

I tried launching a new save and can't select Expedition. It shows as Expedition Complete, but I thought Cartographers launched a few days ago? I'm seeing folks already completing it and am quite jealous! I missed out on the first two.

I've confirmed I'm on version 3.65.12326.0 and the game functions normally otherwise.

Want to beautify your settlement? Tired of wait timers but you want more features? Just extend your base bubble into your settlement and you can build as if it was your own pace. [Information]

Very simply you cannot drop a base computer within the 300u radius of your settlement. Also your base bubble cannot overlap with your settlement bubble.

So place your base computer 600u away from your settlement.

Build short walls from the edge of your base into your settlement.

You can now build in your settlement as if it was your own base. You cannot delete or add to the buildings that are already there but you still have many options available. Do be careful because future buildings that you build may take up empty spaces. Requiring you to dismantle something that you built in its place.

But you can place decorations, Flora features, extra lighting, and defenses to help fight against sentinels. Such as a guard tower that you can jump on and make a quick work of any of those annoying robots.

I have not played since before the Frontiers update (you know, life) but I am curious. The last time I played the unit cap was approximately 4.3 billion which I thought was a weird cut off. With the addition of communities to oversee, did the devs increase the maximum units you can hold?

Choices from citizen request/ dispute all negative? [Question]

Does anyone know if it's possible to skip a request or an dispute.

The reason for the question is the -2 citizen happiness I get, no matter which one I choose. I save the game before choosing, that way I can go back when I choose wrong. Sadly I have waited a while, probably an hour? But the quest is still here. I went from 55% happiness to 47% all because all outcomes are negative.

Sad Discovery on Discoveries [Information]

So, as I long suspected, it turns out that names you give will be eventually replaced with the originals. And then you can’t rename them again. I kind of like that style. “Screw you interloper we don’t need your names.” I just wish they’d pick which way to go. If I didn’t rename stuff I would have made physical notes based on the native names(Phantock Ii). Instead I did it all based on my empire’s names (Mereo Eissen Trade Route Alpha) Now, my trade routes are all unNamed. But tonight takes the cake. I followed one of my 5 galaxy trade routes based off base locations near trade posts….Turns out the supply/demands have been re-rolled. So the purpose of the trade route is ruined. I’ll never rename a single thing ever again. I’m just going to keep a paper notebook of the place names. Also the markets have changed. Haha.

Reason I’m asking is that I suddenly got a notification saying that the expedition was over and all I could do was accept. Fortunately my husband told me to quit the game without saving, start up the game again and switch off multiplayer. That seems to have worked.

Just finished Expedition 3 for the first time. I love the unique ships from the expedition, and was considering playing through a couple more times to get others as well. I started a new expedition and received the exact same ship (and character) models as the first. Tried a couple more times, all the same result. Is there any way to "reroll?"

Anyone know where the last mineral is for the expedition? screenshot enclosed [Information]

Longshot I know, but anyone happen to know which mineral I am missing from the expedition? I need the milestone reward for this to fix my ship. I've looked in the water, in caves, all over the land, and I can not find the last mineral. Attaching a screenshot of all the minerals I've found.

If you know which one I missing if you can include a pic of what it looks like and/or where you find it, that would be really helpful.

Walls won't deleted and have no collision. [Bug]

I placed 2 walls down on and for some reason the walls have no collision and I can walk thru them and also when I try to delete them, it says there's nothing to delete. Even if I delete the floor they're built on the don't break. Can anyone explain?

About Twitch Drops and Xbox Gamepass [Question]

Does anyone know how to get your drops to gampass version of the game? I linked my xbox account through the wegsite but I didnt recieve any of the drops. The wiki says it allows you to convert the file to a normal file but I doesn't make clear what exactly you keep. Do you just continue the game on that save file, with everything you had in the expedition or some things don't transfer?

Settlement Production [Question]

I just got my settlement into earning status, but one of the things it produces is gamma weed...pretty easy to farm those myself. Will this change, or is there a way to change it without moving to a new settlement? So much time just to get to this point...I'll be a bit disappointed if that's the only way we can determine what a settlement produces. Stop “Structure entered” [Question]

So basically whenever I’m just walking around in my main house it pops up the “ structure entered” your base… and it does the dumb noise thing. Cannot get my mineral extractor to work!!!!!! [Question]

I haven't built one before and I am trying to for expedition 3. I have connected it to solar panels, biofuel reactors, batteries, etc. I have one for ammonia and built a whole other base for one, silver. It says something about 'already existing' etc. Base computer can't be placed near it. Any idea if this is a bug?

Also once your settlement is no longer in debt, You get resources. Is that it? Settlement finished?

I've created two basic towers from the selection options. Not sure what exactly I'm supposed to be doing apart from receiving some basic items every few hours.

Power grid?? [Question]

So ever since creative mode came along I’ve played that. I just want to explore and chill in space! But I really want that expedition reward and now I’m dealing with stuff I’ve never had to use before, lol.

How the HELL do you get biofuel reactors to connect to the grid? I’ve got 3 built and connected, but only 2 are registering on the grid for 100kps.

(Yes, yes, solar panels are far superior but I can’t find gold either, lol. I hate it here!)

Milestone tab missing on an expeditions save file. [Question]

Hey guys, finally smashed an expedition 3 and I really enjoyed it (haven't played since 1.0!)

I've decided to continue with that save as I have a huge inventory, lots of recipes and a great ship to continue with. I decided to do the atlas paths as I never finished it back in 1.0 days. I've run into an issue. Atlas path/story requires milestone thresholds to be met... I can't see the milestones tab in an expeditions save file.

I'm now kinda left in the dark and I also don't receive any of the notifications if I complete a milestone e.g. learning a bunch words or walking a certain distance. Anyone have a method to get this back? Is it a bug? Is it intended? If so do they really expect me to wait till the expedition is over to get that feature back?

Also a side note how do I unlock the research terminals in your home base? I think they give you recipes over time or something. Long post sorry but any answers would be appreciated!

Mining with the terrain manipulator. [Discussion]

I've only played NMS since July, so I apologize if this is something that everyone already knows...

Playing around with the multi-tool, it seems like it collects units per second instead of a set amount of what might be in the ground.

I mean if you make your settings to do the job as quickly as possible with a large beam, you get less ore than if you set the smallest beam.

I've only done a little testing. I stopped before mining and used the save point. I then set the put the beam to small and mine, and get about 1100 or so units. Then restore. Then set the terrain mine beam to full, and end OP with about 700 units.

Of course there's no guarantee the restore isn't randomizing the what is in the deposit....

But it seems like I get a lot more per deposit I'd I switch the beam small.

What do the veterans think?

How do I turn discoveries around with mouse? [Question]

I'm brand new to the game and haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere.

When looking at a discovery, I guess turning it around is done with the mouse wheel... but it's super slow and doesn't go around very far. Is there some key to hold down while doing this to make it an acceptable speed? I kinda thought I should be able to just hold down left click and turn the mouse, but nope.

Has anyone found a settlement on a [REDACTED] planet? [Question]

While looking for a nice place to oversee a settlement in, I came across a perfect [REDACTED] planet. However no matter how many times I activate the planetary chart I always get directed to a settlement on another planet.

I’m not sure if it’s this specific planet that has no settlements or if [REDACTED] planets don’t have any settlements at all.

Anyone know the answer to this? Has anyone ever found a settlement on a [REDACTED] planet?

Bases full of dirt every time I respawn in [Question]

So basically every time I load into a game to one of my bases, or teleport to one, all the dirt that I dug out to build my houses in Is back, filling up the houses, over teleport pads, etc. it doesn’t seem to matter how many times I save the game or upload my bases. What am I doing wrong?

Requested feature: being able to manipulate NTC pathing in settlements [Suggestion]

Hello games knows how we operate. They knew we would find out how to extend our base bubble into settlements and build extra items in our towns. I'm sure they experimented with this knowing that we already extend our bubbles to reach hotspots.

So you know we are doing it so please give us the ability to manipulate NPC pathing in our settlements.

The pathing of all NPCs is completely predefined. So if you place any objects in their path they will get bottlenecked. There may be a door 2 in to their right but they will continuously walk into a wall if the door is not in their path.

So at some point down the road it would be nice if we had a tool kit that would allow us to manipulate and alter NPC paths. A build mode of sort that we could go into that would show NPC pathing and allow us to drag it where we needed it.

Even if people did not plan on building in their settlements this would still be useful in generating personal pathing to give the settlement a little bit more immersion by not having every NPC walking the exact same routes as every other NPC.

Is NMS right for me? [Question]

I'm not quite sure what the gameplay consists of, so maybe this sub can help me out. I play on PC and usually play stuff like ARK and Conan Exiles. I mainly stick to ARK but it's so poorly optimized, I'm struggling not to crash on modded maps so I thought I'd try something new. I play in creative single player a lot because I have a kid and can't grind. I like crafting, upgrading, and taming mounts, but also really enjoy building bases. Is that kind of gameplay in NMS? It seems like it is close, but I can't seem to get a straight answer. Any help would be appreciated.

Disabling internet makes consoles run smooth, why? [Bug]

After tips from ppl that disabling internet could stop the crashes in expeditions i noticed it works great. Not only that but the game actually runs smoother, way better fps compaired to before.

The spawn distance is still crap but this made me think that its not because we are on "old" consoles but its on HG side. Us connecting to theire server (even with multiplayer disabled) make the game lose stability and lose fps.

We all had problems with connecting to the server just for discoveries. And the fps were dropping fast since than.

After frontier and expeditions the game almost became unplayable.

So until HG fixes it, if you still want to enjoy nms disable the internet connection from your console. It sucks but its better than crashing 10 times per hour and having a slideshow as a game.

Anyone else experiencing consistent glitches? [Discussion]

They're not making the game unplayable individually but put them all together and all I'm getting out of the game is frustration and boredom.

As soon as I work around one glitch, another happens. My exocrafts keep falling through the planet surface, my save point keeps disappearing after placement, I can't edit to delete parts of my base, hell I can't even just colour base parts. I can't delete parts of my freighter and when I place parts, an invisible wall pops, stopping me from then accessing that part. One of my warps between bases took 10 minutes; the screen got kind of stuck between the warp animation and the teleport module. So much more.

Is anyone else experiencing anything like this? The game isn't unplayable but I definitely don't want to play it like this.

Is there a way to remove settlement buildings, etc? [Question]

I got my first settlement on my home planet. I really don't want to abandon it but, it seems that most of my settlement's NPCs are stuck inside walls of buildings, or stuck in the ground. Is it possible to remove these buildings or possibly reset the location of NPCs? Could I attempt to kill them, will they respawn?

My settlement is a debt collector and i cant do anything about it [Bug]

after switching my old settlement for a new one cuz i was down 10 Mil on debt the new settlement doesn't give me and building/new citizen to do what so ever i tried waiting ingame for 6hr+ and closed the game and started after a day and still nothing just tell me to explore the universe or to talk with the settlers nothing else.

Help with traveling to new galaxies [Question]

I have reached Eissentam a long time ago. I decided I want to go to a new galaxy again, which would be my 3rd galaxy. I have made a base as close to the galactic core as possible, but I can’t seem to be able to warp to the core.

My ship isn’t a freighter, its got a full hyperdrive. My “New Beginnings” quest (which I already completed by getting to Eissentam) just says “a new galaxy awaits…� and doesn’t lead me anywhere. I’ve already done the Atlas path twice, it doesn’t really do anything. And then the Space Anomaly quest line which just seems to be a permanent objective that’s unrelated.

How do I go through the galactic core from here? What am I missing?

Sentinels not arriving in settlement [Question]

So I activated the distress call for the settlement quest, bit it was on an extreme acid planet so, no.

I went back to my home planet with a settlement chart, found one and tried to start over. Except all that happens is I get the text about the Soren and the sentinels arriving.... but then they don't. I can't do anything with this at the moment. Anyone know the solution?

No electromagnetic generator blueprint [Question]

Hi, I've googled to no avail. I'm finally at the point I need to upgrade power for my base but I can't for the life of me find the blueprint/unlock for the em generator? It's not available in the Nexus or at my construction point, I haven't already purchased it. I'm at a loss. Is this something I need to complete a prior mission for? Help please :(

So I don't know about anybody else, but I think I'm done base building until the bugs in this new patch are fixed. [Bug]

I've only been playing the newest update for 2 days. Decided to start on the new expedition, as I've never done one before. Found a nice area, started building a base with the new alloy walls and floors. And I think I'm just done with it. I don't know if they're still working on improving this new building system or what, but object snapping does not work. There are areas where I just cannot place a floor or wall piece, no matter how hard I try. The free place is even worse, because you can't adjust the distance the object is from you. You're forced into placing it wherever your cursor lands.

And these aren't even the worst bugs I've encountered in 2 days:

I tried placing my exocraft bay and when I went to use it, it said it belonged to someone else???

I haven't seen a soul since I started the expedition, but when I went on today, someone else had somehow built their base within spitting distance of mine. Even I can't place another base computer that close.

My base is using a naturally generated cave for parts of it and the terrain keeps changing. Some days there are just additional holes in the cave wall leading outside.

Even underground in certain areas, I still get affected by the storms outside. I even went as far as building base parts OVER those areas, fully enclosed, and it doesn't help.

I have these goddamn sparks that just pop up around me randomly, with flashing light and a really annoying cracking sound.

I know the new update is only a few weeks old, but I've never had this much trouble building in earlier versions of the game. Please, Hello Games, do something about the building at least. Let us select the object we want to snap our next piece to, allow us to move the piece towards or away from us, something. Anything. At this point, I've basically been relegated to...

Völuspá System, Eissentam: Documentation [Information]

I found a very interesting system in Eissentam and figured I would share it with the community. I did already name all the planets and moons along with the system itself, and built a base computer on Kvasir, but other than that I'm not staking any kind of claim.

The system has a blue star and is technically a T1 Korvax system, but that's hardly relevant as it's been abandoned. It has three planets and three moons, and of those six bodies, five are extreme and one is exotic. At least three of the planets have storm crystals (I didn't stick around on Durinn to see if it had any, since I despise aggressive sentinels). However, two aspects in particular make it stand out to me -

  1. Absolutely no fauna to speak of on any of the six planets, not even anomalous ones on the exotic.

  2. One of the planets, Kvasir, which I'll describe below.

That said, let's run down the planets.

Durinn is an Ultramarine Planet, a mega exotic with barren landscapes, huge mushrooms and rock formations dotting the landscape, and choked in a thick red fog. It's got constant scalding thunderstorms and sentinels that will just shoot at you for no reason. It's not super pleasant.

Durinn has one moon, Mótsognir, an extreme incandescent world with frequent firestorms, large unsettling rock formations, and a wealth of Storm Crystals.

Ymir is a glacial planet. It gets rather brisk during the ice storms that rage across the surface, but if you bundle up you'll find Storm Crystals thicker on the ground than any other planet I've ever been to (although I may have landed in a lucky spot). It has no satellites.

Kvasir is the main attraction and the first reason the system caught my interest. It's technically an extreme planet, but as a...

Nostalgia over your first bases in your first save [Discussion]

Do any other NMS "veterans" ever go back to their first saves and get nostalgic when visiting their first bases and first planets? My first real base was on a radioactive world. Simple with large prefab pieces. I was a small-time farmer back then. I did a few biodomes and made a garden of outdoor gamma weed. The yard was littered with solar panels and batteries to keep everything running. I was terrified of many things back then: sentinels, predators, pirates, swimming underwater.

My next base was built into a mountainside with internal stairways inside the mountain. And then I did a very modernist sky base with a sculpture museum and a "light room" with multi-colored light fissures under glass floors.

What’s with the aggressive players? [Discussion]

I’ve just nearly completed a 10 hour trek (about 2 via Minotaur) to another building in the expedition. Then got killed by another player in their ship.

No cool. Didn’t get their username before it faded. I hope they fall from a great height and die right before they complete the exhibition and their save gets corrupted.

The rest of you here seem like a nice bunch though. Shame about the small few who run it for others.

After not playing NMS for 2+ years… wtf am I supposed to do now? [Question]

So I got nms on launch, and while it was a little overhyped I enjoyed it for the most part.

Then life happened and I packed up my ps4 for a while, but after hearing all the buzz about the new updates I dusted it off and tried it again

Honestly I went straight into creative to see what’s different and I’ll tell you, I’m almost scared to try normal.

Y’all got any advice on what I should do?

Safe to transfer items from possibly corrupt save to new? [Question]

During one of my many crashes before 3.63, I got a notification about it being corrupt when I loded the game, but my save loaded fine.

However, now I crash after 5 minutes, or freeze after 1.

I thought about making a new save. If I use a friend to transfer stuff from my possibly corrupt to new, are the items going to damage/corrupt my new save?

Lost living ship? [Question]

I see a lot of conflicting things about this.

I did biosynthesis but wanted to run back to my freighter to trash a ship before accepting the new one. I do that, and now the mission for the living ship is gone. I put down a save beacon before I had left the living ship, but now there's just the original "host ship" crashed there.

People have said just reload, warp somewhere, and you will get summoned to another crashed living ship. But this hasn't happened for me yet.

Did I just lose my living ship? I don't want to dump 10k nanites into a new egg or whatever. Seems kinda BS that I just lost it after all that work...

Starship Hub, Basic Construction for second time 3.65 Xbox [Bug]

I have the 3.65 patch, on Xbox One.

The Starship Hub is the LAST building I had to construct, saved it because I heard of people having problems with that ESPECIALLY.

So I messed around for 59 minutes, then it was finally done on the basic construction. Then I go up to the area is is being built:

Chromatic Metal, for Basic Construction.

So now it is doing that again.

I tried reloading the manual save from 15 minutes earlier, but of course the completion time is in real time so in that one it had ALSO completed (and again, was wanting chromatic metal for basic construction.)

I think the issue was that I was on my freighter finishing some frigate missions, so I was not in the settlement when the timer finished; it is like you can't leave AT ALL or the thing might bug! I thought 3.65 was supposed to fix that?

Easy and fast way to get Herox. No blueprint needed! [Information]

A lot of people seem to struggle with Herox in expedition 3. You have to search for hours if you want the blueprint, depending on your luck with factory spawns.

The good news is, you can get Herox without the recipe and all you need is ammonia+silver+cobalt. Simply throw these 3 ingredients into a big refinery and enjoy your Herox.

There is a lot of other recipes for refining Herox, here is a link if you are interested.

The same goes for other alloys and base materials. The amount of recipes for the refinery is insane and the game never tells you about any of this.

After completing expedition 3, how to start Alone Amidst the Stars? [Question]

Hi travellers!

I just finished expedition 3 and can now summon the Anomaly. So I was planning to play the Artemis questline so i can get the base terminals. However, the Alone Amidst the Stars Quest is not showing up in my mission log.

Is this a bug? I assumed after finishing the expedition everything would go back to normal. Another mission in the lot says i do not to see the alone amidst the stars log to help Artemis, but it is not there.

I tried warping a lot, visiting atlas stations, I even traveled through a black hole. Nothing.

Void Egg Questline Confusion [Question]

Hey all,

I'm working on the Void Egg questline; Starbirth. After picking up the Void Egg, doing a bunch of warps, I encountered the alien space ship, as expected. I now have an Active Void Egg in my inventory and the quest objective is to "Follow the call of the Void Egg". The quest log also indicated I needed an Indium drive in my starship, which I have built. However, at this point, I'm a bit puzzled as to do. I don't see any quest markers for what I need to do next (on the galaxy map, or otherwise). I feel like I must be missing something really obvious.

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Need help, I'm stuck in early Phase 2 of Expedition 3 [Question]

I spawned in a place where someone else had created a base. So in a relatively large area around my stuck starship, I cannot put a new base. Of course in theory I know I can walk, say, 5km in a straight line and then build a base, but is this really the way to go?...wth.

I also have no idea how am I going to research new components to craft, for example to craft a new Quantum Computer, which is the first task in Phase 2.

I've been wandering around for almost an hour now completely stuck. Can someone shed some light? Thanks a lot!

My base that I was building with the help of a friend is bugging out and it's upsetting me [Bug]

I recently came back to the game due to the Frontiers update, and I'm building a base with support of a friend who's much further into the game. We hopped on today and the base is now assigned to him, and only half of the base is loading for me (floating platforms, walls I can walk through, even falling through the planet itself)

I've tried restarting my game, reconnecting the internet and even visiting the base in solo mode to no avail, this is really upsetting me and I'm really only interested in playing this game as a multiplayer base-building/settlement-owning game

Is there something I/We can actually do or is this hopeless?

Does anybody have a settlement that's more than just one of the three races? I thought the announcement for it made a comment about having variety within your settlements, and it would make sense at least for there to be at least a few others if not a fully integrated community

Can't build Minotaur [Question]

Hello all, I'm playing through the Expedition and have completed all of Phase One. I need the last one on Phase Two which is to Deploy the Minotaur. Probably is, I don't have the blueprints for it.

I noticed before that it was in the Construction Research Unit but it isn't there now. How can I get it if I can't summon the Anomaly?

My settlement in the bog [Question]

So today- my building option was to make a saloon or a market. My Korvax colonists are in favor of the saloon. Some background, the first thing I built for them was a cantina. And we are currently in debt. So I chose the market. So wanted to see how packed the cantina is- because we must be running of of space- since they need a saloon. Therefore, I walk into the cantina- no one in there. I promised them- once we get out of debt- you can have a cantina AND a saloon. 😂. Anyone else see something similar?

Bases are acting weird [Discussion]

There seems to be some weird stuff going on since the update with bases and build rights. I built near a settlement and all of a sudden I lost rights , reload and its fine. Another Base I deleted keeps reappearing with guest rights and is preventing me from putting a new base computer down, that one is particularly bad because I want to build near a settlement I found with a crashed freighter on top of a hill overlooking it.

Anyone else having general odd behavior with bases other than the parts not snapping ?

I expect and hope another patch will be dropping this week but this is pretty bad compared to all the other updates In the past, granted its a massive amount of new stuff but with nearly 600 hours in the game I suppose I'm looking for affirmation my save is not broken some how.

Seriously, I'm an hour into this thing and cannot figure out how to do the wiring from my bio power thing, to the teleporter.

Come on, how bloody complicated could this be? NO explanation just "run the wire from one to the other" yeah, sure, but it NEVER connects.

[Xbox One] Local interference when use Settlement Chart [Question]

Hi, Are the settlement charts usable only in specific systems and not in some other?

I had the first settlement with the quest but i want to have one in my home system in Eissentam. So i bought some settlement charts then land on the planet where i want to have my settlement but when i used i had the message "Cannot use chart // Locational Interference"... I tried to got to Euclide at my portal outpost and, there, the chart worked... I claimed the new settlement then came back where i want my settlement but i still have the message "Cannot use chart // Locational Interference".

If someone know how to get rid of that error and make the chart work it would nice!

Can't start an expedition save. [Question]

Last night I had to delete my expedition save because I was going to try to make a new one. Because my broken down ship was spawned in someone else's base and I couldn't get to it. Well now I can't make a new expedition file at all. I try to click on the thing start a new one and it just doesn't let me do it. It lets me create other versions of save files. But it will not let me make an expedition. I'm playing on Xbox game pass. It just says downloading data above the expedition menu option

“Mechanical Man” quest given for free? [Question]

I’ve recently started the third expedition and while I was doing chasing a different quest, I randomly unlocked the “Mechanical Man” one where you have to deploy a Minotaur, and then a minotaur icon shows up but it’s 7 hours away. I never deployed a minotaur, so how did I get this? I feel like I cheated unwillingly.

Settlement won’t progress [Question]

So after traveling to a galaxy core to fix my second settlement I’ve started progress on my first building and it’s now been 22 hours and 14 heat capacitors later and the building still keeps asking for heat capacitors to finish the building. Does anyone know a fix or am I just gonna be stuck until there’s yet another update?

I beat the newest expedition and I was wondering what I have to do next in it? It only took me about a day to complete all the challenges and get the pet, I got luck and he’s very large, but what else is there to do? Just looking for some fun stuff or I’ll just go back to getting to the galactic core in permadeath.

The Purge in 2021 Spoilers [Spoiler]

OK, so I've reached the end of the main main story, having crashed Atlas by saying 16 and now everything's going to collapse in the reset. I tried Googling for answes on what the final choice entails, but the results are from at least a few years ago, so I want to double check for doing it today in 2021 with more stuff to consider.

So as I understand it, if I reset, it's going to throw me into a whole different galaxy that's separate from the main one we start in (Euclid, right?). I also read that doing this might end up causing everything you have done, or not done, in the Euclid galaxy to get wiped out in favor of this new galaxy? Is this true? Will I lose all my bases? Will I lose the settlement as part of the latest update that I've been building up? What about the freighter? Or the quests I still need to do, like Dreams of the Deep and Starbirth and Atlas Path? I'm torn because while a fresh galaxy sounds intriguing, I don't want to lose my stuff and my progress if that's the price to pay...or am I wrong on some things?

The opening quest to unlock technologies seems way too long. Is there a way to skip it? [Question]

I last played this game a long time ago. I really enjoy the general exploration, and a lot of the different loops that the game has to offer. One of the things I don't enjoy very much is the main quest loop, since it's very restrictive on where you can go and what you can do. But I also need the technologies that get unlocked on the main quest.

I'm currently almost 5 hours into my game and the main quest still has no stopping point in sight. I just went to several different underwater bases, 3 in total, each like 7 minutes apart from the one before it, and I'm tapped out.

  1. How much longer do I have before I find the anomaly, which seems to be when people say you can stop with the main quest if you want

  2. Is there a way to skip all of this so that I can get the necessary technologies without following the questline? I'm sure I'll start over at some point, and would prefer to not have to play through it before. The other game modes don't appeal to me, I don't want to play creative mode just so I don't have to do this quest. Is there another way?

I think the game needs a tutorial. But tutorials should be skippable. As it stands, the opening quest is WAY too long, and I have no idea if it's skippable. Google searches seem to say no, but this game changes so much, I thought I'd check again

Has anyone here ever rigorously searched or re-searched a planet? [Question]

I thought I put a save beacon down by a place I wanted to build at. But I didn't. Has anyone figured out a good way to survey a planet for a needle in a haystack?

All I came up with was building a base at the exact north pole, building a circular foundation, and marking with lights ever 10 degrees or so and heading south till I hit the south pole, scanning and investigating building along the way. Does anyone have anything better? I really REALLY want to find that spot again.

Expedition Complete/Expedition Mismatch Error on PC [Bug]

Cannot join the expedition, and cannot join friends for it. I wanted to play with my friends as its the first expedition we've been able to do together.

I've verified that my game is updated. The build ID in steam is 73257527.

I've reinstalled the game.

I've verified the integrity of the game files.

Does anyone have any idea of what to do to fix this. This is the most infuriating issue to be having with a timed event.

Frontiers wildly bugged out my game on ps4. The days after release I basically couldn’t enter build mode without it blue screening my game. One of my favorite games [Discussion]

I've always heard mixed things about No Man's Sky and I saw it on Xbox Gamepass last week so I figured I'd give it a try since it was free. Within 2 days I had 12 hours in it and it's quickly become one of my new favorites. Completed Expedition 3 But Save Wont Convert to a Normal Save [Bug]

So I completed Expedition 3 and the game says that the game will now be converted to a normal save file. Problem is, this doesn't happen. The Artemis questline doesn't appear either as I keep getting a message to select "Alone among the stars" on the quest log but "Alone among the stars" is not present on the log. Also, space anomalies are basically empty with no new players spawning on them. I saw 1-2 players on a space anomaly once, but that is it. Nothing like the 14-15 you get in a normal game. And yes, networking is set to "on".

Is this a bug? Or will the save only convert to a normal save at the end of the expedition? Is there any way to force start the Artemis questline?

Help With "Find Us, Hear Us" [Question]

Hey everyone! So I'm stuck on this part of Awakenings. I landed on the planet with the marker, ran around with the target finder until the objective now says "travel to the stranger's coordinates". On the game screen itself it says "decode the stranger's signal, signal appears to originate from Distresa Beacon". The problem is, it pops up briefly on my compass then...nothing. I can't find a marker anywhere, it won't pop back up on the compass, nothing. I even reloaded before I did that part of the quest and the same thing happened. I'm really confused and I can't figure out where I'm supposed to go

All of my stored ships disappeared? PC [Bug]

I have played about 23 hours on my steam copy of NMS and had collected a few ships including very expensive cargo haulers and many modules in each ship. I had taken about a year off from NMS only to log in after the latest update and see that my other ships have all disappeared. Tried restarting the game but not sure what else to do here. Currently stuck with my S class exotic with small cargo storage, any tips here?

Game Crash After Completing Expedition [Bug]

I completed the expedition phases 1-5 yesterday. Today I randomly get a message pop-up that says “congratulations you completed the expedition and now your expedition game save will be converted to a normal game save”. I saved my game by jumping in and out of my ship plus did a manual save and restarted my game. Now the game crashes to the home screen everytime I try to launch. It doesnt make it to the save game screen…

Weird game save problem [Question]

Just finished the Cartographers expedition and returned to my normal save (It still said "Normal" at this stage). Getting into my game and managing my new settlement when I started getting Expedition notifications (yes, in my Normal save). when I went to the main menu there was an Expeditions tab. all the phases said complete but many of the individual challenges were blank and greyed out, as though I hadn't done them. The only thing I can click on is the Mechanical man challenge, which crashes the game. other things such as my base computer have also started behaving weirdly. I'm now worried that when the expedition is finished, I will lose this main save.

Does anyone know a way of reverting an Expedition save to a Normal save other than waiting for the expedition to end and keeping my fingers crossed?

Also weird is that in Goat Fungus' NMS Save Editor, it tells me the save is a Normal save, but Nom Nom save editor says it's a Community Expedition save! So even they are confused.

Weirdest NMS bug I've had, since day one.

So since the "Frontiers" update changed the build menu. How do you rotate a part on it's Y axis? You used to be able to do so prior to frontier's. But seems I can only rotate parts on the X axis. So can someone tell me how to rotate a part vertically rather than horizontally? Vanilla only plz. [Question]

Basically I want to point a voxel light upward into the sky; I was able to do this pre-Frontier's by rotating the part upward. But since the new build has changed things post-Frontier's ... I don't know if this got lost or embedded elsewhere.

The game crashes every single time I try to launch. [Bug]

It just says "No Man's Sky Failed" or some shit. I've looked online and none of the solutions work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, ive cleared the shadercache, ive updated it, and i cant find anything to work. I cannot find di-hydrogen jelly anywhere. I've checked at least 15 space stations and scores of ships to no avail. I do however see gravatino balls in every station which was not the case prior to Frontiers. Any ideas?

I found someone's base that was tailor-made for getting Rocketman, so after checking that off my milestones list I tried to leave a beacon with a "thank you" message at the bottom of the spire.

"Got Rocketman here, thanks!": rejected due to the profanity filter.

"Got the Rocketman milestone, thank you!": rejected due to the profanity filter.

"Got jump milestone from here, thanks!": rejected due to the profanity filter.

First survival run [Discussion]

I have over 100 hours into the game on both normal and creative and I’ve finally decided to give survival a go for that extra edge to keep the game fresh. Playing on PS4 Whilst going through the quests for the armourer, I thought I could blitz through the “Destroy Depots” by blasting it from the sky. Turns out, that wasn’t allowed and now I’m unable to complete the objective. I’ve come back after 2 weeks, hoping it may have rebuilt itself.

I've tried everything, but NMS still runs like hot garbage in VR [Question]

I decided to get No Man's Sky after watching some youtube videos on how amazing the VR mode looked. But even with nearly all of my settings set to standard, the performance in VR mode has made it so unplayable, that I cannot even get past the starting tutorial! My FPS has dropped into the low 40s and the stuttering is starting to make me nauseous. Please, I've tried almost every possible solution on the web.

Can’t start expedition [Bug]

I go to begin a new save to start the expedition for the first time and it won’t let me start and there is a banner in the top saying it’s complete. I haven’t done a single expedition so I’m not certain why it is saying that. Anyone else getting this? Any ideas for fixes? I’m actually very interested in doing this one. I haven’t tried, simply, restarting the game but yeah.

Settlement glitch [Bug]

So I have found a settlement on a paradise planet and I begun construction on a cantina for the settlement, but the console to donate supplies isn’t there and it won’t spawn. Is there anyway to fix this without having to reload a previous save because my last manual save was 3 days ago If anyone knows how to fix this please help.

Consistent stutters every few seconds [Question]

I always loved NMS, but awhile back, my game got plagued with a weird issue. Despite getting 70+ frames, every few seconds, frames would drop to 10...then go back to 70+...then a few seconds later, back to 10. Going out in the middle of nowhere wouldn't help. Even simply being on a menu would cause the stutters. This caused me to have to quit NMS. That was during Atlas Rising. I have returned. I have had very smooth gameplay, but after 2 days, the stutters are back, again. I tried backing down my graphics to low\mid, but it doesn't have any effect. I have created a video to demonstrate the issue, as well as my system specs. I was told to try changing my thread high\low settings in a config file based on my CPU (6 low 12 high I believe it was), but that did not resolve the issue. Here is the video. Any ideas? This is making NMS impossible to play.

Like update and the expedition.. but.... [Discussion]

That the old parts are no longer available to buy, means new saves are no longer close to as fun for building

the removial of the old parts, is the 1st NMS change I have seen, that I feel is a MAJOR step back

No matter the bonus for the ship, the expedition stuff brought, a new save isn't worth the loss of those old parts, IMO. Which is REALLY disappointing.

Ghost in the Machine [Video]

A game changing suggestion [Suggestion]

I had an idea (and I’m sure others have had it too) of a special device that could allow you to CUSTOMIZE entire solar systems!!! Now it would be a long and painful process where first you have to override a space station to begin creating the world engine, then using 2 stacks of activated indium, a signal booster, and double the rest of materials to charge a portal you make a world beacon that you have to place on the planet you want to replace and the planet you want to replace it with, then it takes a real world week to switch the planets but only 5 planets and 3 moons are allowed per system and they have to be from the same star type so no having an activated indium planet in a yellow stellar body. What do you think?

Bugs or intended? [Question]

I bought the game on sale two weeks ago. I wanted it when it came out but all the bad press and reviews made me hold off. Since it was on sale and all recent reviews were positive, I bought it. I have about fifty hours in now and have had a mostly enjoyable experience. The biggest let-down is lack of actual multiplayer. Beyond that it's been great.

Tonight I got a distress beacon on my home planet. I went to it and there was a settlement in need. I fought the corrupted sentinels off but chose to not claim it yet. I went back just a while ago and now the signal is on another planet. I do not want that. I reloaded. Now it is in another solar system. Is this a bug? I'm not wanting to have to go all over to manage a settlement. How can I get it back to my planet?

The next thing is that in sixty warps, I have encountered two freighter battles. What's going on? Is my save broken? I thought that every so many warps you could encounter one. My first save I encountered them every sixth warp! My first freighter on my first save (corrupted, had to restart) was a HUGE star destroyer. This new save (accounts for about fifteen hours) I cannot find a freighter to save my life, and I am literally spending time warping between two solar systems with a max economy. I am starting to think my game is broken again. Is this normal?

To clarify my comment about multiplayer above, the game allows you to see and partially interact with other players, but there's no multiplayer. None of the main quests can be done together. I cannot sell my starship or buy on from a friend (this has us all mad, we each like a ship-type and cannot help each other), when I get attacked by pirates they cannot even see the pirates to help out and vice-versa! It's like all we can do is see each other and force-send items between ourselves. Where's the coop? Why can't I surprise a friend with a new ship if I find one while he is...

Why won't my population increase? [Question]

Hello I've been doing the frontier update like everyone else and I've downloaded all the patches. I'm on PS4. I've actually built 7 buildings but none of them have been houses. Didn't even know that was a thing until I saw someone on here mention it. My settlement is S class supposedly but my population is still at 51. It started at 50 and one agronomist showed up in the very beginning and that's it. I've been playing for days and no new settlers!

How to get around bugged planetary settlement charts? [Question]

So I simply cannot use planetary charts. I started the settlement mission with the first settlement the game gives you but quickly decided to pick another location since you can have only one settlement.

After buying a planetary settlement chart from the vendor at the space station, I landed on a desired planet and tried using it there. One of 3 things happen at random: Nothing happens at all, the chart is consumed and I'm not given any directions; I get an error message from the exosuit telling me there's "interference" in opening the chart; The chart works but I'm given directions to a settlement in another planet entirely, and never on the one I'm actually standing on.

Frustrated, I tried opening the chart at other planets, systems and even galaxies. The only "constant" factors are that I'm always attempting at a Korvax system with T3 economy.

I've seen some people suggesting to "reset" the tutorial quest for settlements, but I don't get that option even after changing galaxies. I am currently at the third objective of that mission, and don't want to progress further as I don't intent to keep that settlement at all.

So my question is, how have people gone around this? Can it be fixed? Is there a way to look for settlements without a chart?

Won't let me warp to the galaxy centre (not a noob) [Question]

I've just hopped about 4 galaxies in a row and I'm now in Budullangr galaxy at the galaxy's centre. All the usual issues (full hyperdrive, centre selected etc) are accounted for however when I hold on the galaxy it puts it in frame and then prompts me to left click to warp. No matter how long I click or many times it won't let me warp. Please help a fellow interloper. TIA

Not sure what to flair this but I'm at my wits end and need help [Discussion]

I'm on the expedition milestone where you have to find a building to shelter in. The catch: The closest settlement is 14 hours away on foot and I do not have access to either exocraft or space travel.

I've thoroughly explored the area around me and have deployed several beacons, but all I've found is an underwater building and two waypoints.

What should I do? Is restarting the expedition the only way?

Expedition 3: Can't place base? "Warning: Universal Archive Search reveals previous base registration. Construct terminal on a new site." error. [Bug]

I'm trying to place my base computer which I've built and have in my inventory. I drop it, then hit E and get:

"Warning: Universal Archive Search reveals previous base registration. Construct terminal on a new site."

However when I try to build one somewhere else, the base computer turns red and I'm unable to.

What am I doing wrong?

Looks like a couple people have built previous base computers right near my spawn and I cannot get rid of them either.

Trapped on a water planet [Question]

I'm early in the game, investigating the Stranger's sunken ship in the Nautilon. However, because the game crashed, I am now stuck in a position where I can't get off again. Looking for ideas. Is there any way to just punt off of a planet and return to my home world somehow? Emergency teleport? HELP!

Longer version:

I am attempting the Dreams of the Deep quest. I flew down to the planet, which at first glance was COMPLETELY covered in water, but I came here and was reassured that there would be land somewhere.

Well, there was. After much searching above and below the atmosphere I found a little archipelago but it was VERY far from the coordinates of the sunken ship: fully 5 minutes by regular throttle in the ship. Definitely too far to swim there. So I used my ship to flyover a bunch more islands until I find one quite a bit closer: only 2 minutes by regular throttle. I decide that here I will build my nautilon pad and, thinking ahead, also a save beacon.

Fortunately I already have the Nautilon plans and picked up the hydrothermal cells immediately. So I hop in my new nautilon, start out toward the coordinates and immediately discover that 2 minutes by regular throttle is 16 minutes by nautilon. Still way too slow, and I was worried I'd run out of fuel trying to make that round trip.

So I hop in my ship again and fly at an angle to the sunken ship, until I find one less than half the distance: less than 6 minutes by nautilon. (At this point, I'm wondering how the !#%*&^ you're supposed to do this if you don't have nautilon plans and are expected to swim there??) Fine, that's still an annoyingly long trip but I can deal with it. Land my ship, summon my nautilon, and plant a custom marker Just In Case.

But I make two fatal mistakes: I don't plant a save beacon this time. Just the custom marker. Which, it turns out, does not stay in the game across a crash/restart. When...

Playing expedition 3. I have realised why i fell in love with nms originally.

The sense of feeling of actually having to discover ways to progress from the environment around me. Using the tools at hand. The refining recipes.

Current day nms , you want anything . You just go to a space station and buy it. I do it all to often. And thats where the fault lies.

Nms needs an overhaul of this type of thing. By either removing ALOT of space stations or not being able to just buy all the resources . Stations should serve a more defined purpose. Every base on every planet should serve a purpose to your survival and progression. In turn giving the community more reason to build " hubs " and so forth. Its easy to forget that nms used to be like this ? Having to mine on planets to get what you need. Having to work for progression. That grind is what gave nms its purpose. Now its purpose is screen shots and base builds imo.

Anyways. Expedition 3 reminded me of this. And im thankful it showed me what hooked me in the first place again.

Anyone else feel this way ?

Coop using Base Teleporters [Question]

Had a question about base portals. It looks like I should be able to go to a friend's base as the teleportation selection has a filter setting for "group", but it's greyed out. Was trying to work it out with a friend, both of us steam friends.

I was wondering if it's not implemented, or if it's a case of who's save needs to be hosting? Is it tied to "No man sky friends" list?

Or is the group tab specific for non-steam friend (crossplay) uploaded bases?

It happened to me on a few times on PlayStation 4 Pro. Yesterday i had to reload my save, after i reloaded a message popped up on my screen that says something like «the Expedition is over... thanks for playing, you save will turn to Normal after reloading» and you have only one option: Accept... I was shocked because I had already completed the third phase... do not accept that massage! Just turn off your game, get in and load your last save again...

Any way to recover lost progress due to crashing? [Question]

So i had my game crash twice today while trying to do the expedition obviously the nature of this expedition shows a huge flaw in the auto save system this game uses which requires you to get in your ship. I had just finished scanning everything required for that mile stone and my game crashed before i got a chance to save. Im now back at square one and have to do basically the entire expedition over again. If there isnt a way to contact hello games and hopefully get this resolved im probably just going to sit out this expedition... :(

I found a nearby trade outpost with ships available. Do I lose the expedition ship I'm trying to fix and the ability to access it if I purchase another ship?

Bonus question: If I buy the new ship, can I use the trade station to switch it for my old ship, thus letting me make the trade station my new "base of operations?"

So I finished the expedition. My question is that if I continue to play on the expedition save. Will every thing I have earned beyond the stuff you get for said expedition. Will that carry over to the normal save in 6 weeks.

How do I make my lines smoother? [Question]

Settlement under attack but no sentinels spawn. [Bug]

Sentinel Activity at my settlement is at 100%,. I saved and exited and reloaded save, still not working. I used a teleporter/portal to go to it, still nothing. I also no longer see an icon for my settlement from the planet anymore.

I finished the entire expedition minus rocketman the first day it dropped, I've been trying every day since to get the rocketman achievment and anytime I spend more than 15 seconds airborne my game crashes without fail. I've tried everything and I'm at my wits end. A Leap in the Dark bug? [Bug]

Hi everyone. I've spent over 150+ hours in this game, mostly just exploring, base building and ship hunting.

I've finally decided to progress some of the main storyline and I'm on the Apollo track in the A Leap in the Dark mission. I've found the first set of glyphs after going to monument #1 and taking out some sentinels, but when I scanned for the next energy trace and leylines position, its spawned it on a submerged ancient ruin, not a monolith. I can't interact with the ruin in any way (I've opened one of the chests with a trident key and living pearl but while I got some loot, it didn't progress the mission)

The mission tracker in the bottom right hand corner seems to be stuck at "Glyph sets recovered: 1 of 3" and I don't know how to reset the mission, or get it to spawn the next waypoint at a monolith instead of an ancient ruin.

Has anyone else come across this and been able to figure it out? Thanks!

Settlement - Sentinel Alert Level and Settlement Rating [Question]

For 2 days in a row, I've had sentinel alert rating suddenly go to 0%, indications there was an attack, and my rating goes from S to B again. But the attacks are happening when I am offline. When I logged out last night it was 74%. Logged out at settlement, when I logged in I heard a brief sentinel noise but nothing was there and it had gone to 0% and B grade.

Anyone else had this?

Lost most research options in expedition [Question]

So finally got my ship fixed after running around for a few hours looking for a rock. Now I'm back at my base and almost all of the tech research options from the construction research unit are gone. Including ones that I need to progress further.

Normally I'd get those things on the anomaly, but we can't summon that. So - is this a bug or am I supposed to go somewhere else now to finish researching? Or do I need to reload a manual save before i fixed my ship and learn what I need before fixing the starship?

If you can't start the 3rd expedition or having signal booster issues. [Suggestion]

First off I couldn't start the expedition as it said it was complete, I fixed this but turning off multiplayer, saving and restarting the game numerous times (could be once or 15x) like when the weekend mission is bugged, so I presume this is just some server issue.

Also the signal booster when activated would just do nothing, turns out there was just nothing to detect walking in one direction for 10 minutes and trying the booster again worked.

Hope this helps anyone who was stuck like I was!

I love my home planet and want my settlement there but it doesn’t seem like there is one available? [Question]

I used the settlement finder thing from the space station but it will always find one off planet. Is it possible for a planet to not have a settlement or is it just trial and error? Other times when it doesn’t find one off planet (at all) it just acts as if I deleted the settlement finder item. Like nothing happens. I really just want a settlement on my planet and was wondering what the real answer is.

Construction Research Unit bug？ [Question]

so I was new and I went straight into Expedition 3. At first the CRU has tons of blueprints to unlock. when I moved to a new base and brought the old CRU with me, I found that there are just basic (Vital technology, timber, stone and alloy) blueprints now. Was going to get myself a landing pad blueprint but… Any ideas?

Btw, Expeditions rewards work as unlocked blueprints for all your saves new and old or an one-time thing?

Finished the expedition [Discussion]

I enjoyed most of it, wasn't a big fan of the bugs at the beginning tho but it all got rectified. One that annoyed me though is that people would build bases on like bones or at resource locations or at the end portal, just so you can't edit terrain or place stuff and that was especially annoying at the portal cuz I wanted to make a message that said "see you all in the next expedition" but couldn't because I didn't have permission, I instead had to fidget into a spot where I could put a base computer that was barely close enough for me to do that it's just rude and annoying, why would anyone do that? By the way, was there anything we were supposed to do with the portal? Didn't know so I haven't deleted the save yet just in case. Also I really liked the focus that was put onto the exploration of a single planet it really gives the game a different feel when you're stuck on a planet and can't fly around especially a planet with hazards it was very interesting and maybe HG will take what the community critiques about what it's like being stuck on a planet and may adding some really fun stuff or more diverse activities for ground exploration. Also now I have a cool monster buddy alongside my Mothra and Machine Deer (need to come up with a name, something HZD inspired). That's my two cents on the expedition for the most part, what did you all think of the expedition?

Liked the expedition

Beginning bugs were annoying

Annoyed at players who use base computers to restrict access to zones like the end portal

Interested in forced single planetary exploration

What are your settlement ideas? [Suggestion]

I like the idea of settlements and I think they have a lot of potential.

The latest experimental patch already added some stuff: a teleporter in the overseers office a merchant + galactic terminal in the market

Here are some ideas to make settlements even better a firework launcher, installed at the monument in the center. If you get the decision for a festival, and approve it, npcs would gether in the square and a firework would start a black market where a smuggler/ the scrap agent from the space station would have a stall (could also be a in the back of the market building) the ability to provide foood to the cantina. This would give temporary boosts to productivity or happyness a creature merchant which would sell eggs from creatures other players have discovered

What are your ideas? What's missing?

New Player; Mod to Remove Inventory Wipe From Survival Mode [Modding]

Basically as title says. New to game, immediately jumped into Survival mode. First death after 8 hours. Not a fan to learn that Survival has an inventory wipe on death with no recovery. Kinda wish when selecting game modes they were a bit more transparent that specific death mechanic. Motivation to try and collect all that I lost is pretty low to almost dead.

I have no care to go to normal mode, I have no issue with 250 stack sizes and managing my spaces. I have no issues with enemies dealing increased damage or environmental being stronger. I have no issue with my tech being broken when revived. Infact I have been loving my playthrough on survival, my literal only gripe is the inventory wipe. Trying to look up myself, maybe I am missing the proper keywords, but can't seem to find a mod that might chance this. Anyone have any clue if there is a mod that only changes Survival Mode death to drop a gravestone rather that lose my entire backpack?

Base parts not solid [Bug]

I just started the expedition (and had to turn off multiplayer mid-way because othereise I couldnt build a base terminal) but now when I try to build myself a small shelter and expand my base for the expedition milestone a good 50% of the parts I place are there graphic wise but I can just walk straight through them. Because of that I also cant protect me from the toxic for example.

Anyone else had the same bug or possibly a fix?

Is there a way to change your starter ship in the Expedition? [Question]

So I've completed the Expedition, and am interested in playing it again to see how much better I can get.

However I absolutely hate the ship I was given the first time, and would like to try a different ship.

I've reloaded the expedition several times, tried it on and offline, and even restarted my PC to get the same result.

Is there a way to get a different ship? or am I stuck with the same ship no matter what?

I suppose I wouldn't mind it if everyone got the same ship, but the fact that everyone gets a randomised ship that can't be re-rolled is a bit disappointing 🤷‍�️

Things you lost and never found again in NMS [Question]

What is a thing you discovered (planet, ship, etc.) on NMS and then accidentally lost and spent hours searching again in agony without results?

For me it was a long nose fighter. It was purple and somewhat-black colored, it was a beauty, never found something similar again. At that time I didn’t know about coordinates. I found it during one of my first nexus missions (I think it was the one where you search for deposits). I thought I could easily go back to that planet thanks to the planet list on the discovery menu. I was wrong. Never found it again, even re-visited each system on the list multiple time. The regret killed me. Now everytime I see a ship I even barely like, I take a photo of the ship with coordinates. I have something like 250+ photos of ships (you can even see them in two of my previous posts on this sub).

Shit scarred me for life.

Does your grave disappear after logout? [Question]

I was playing last night after a few beers and my friend killed me. We were pretty drunk so I didn't think to retrieve my items. I came back on today, realsied my inventory was empty and had flashbacks to my death. There's no marker anywhere for my grave and having gone back to where I died (his settlement) there's no grave there. Any ideas? I can't seem to find an answer online

VR and Expeditions? [Bug]

Twice now I've tried to start up an expedition and twice only about half a minute into the game after loading, it just stops registering my controllers and I have to quit out through task manager.

It's only with Expeditions, normal game is fine. I use a Quest 2 and airlink to my PC. Does anyone know a fix for this??

Impossible to find abounden Buildings [Bug]

I've use about 25 emergency charts and only found freighter crashsites and distress beacon sites. Each time on every planet and moon that's all that pop up. Looking through guides it only takes about 2-3 emergency charts to find an abounden building. Is there any other wa to find them?

Can't find my ship! [Question]

Is portal interference removed or just bugged? [Question]

Started a new save and played for about 7 hours before i found my first portal, i had 3 glyphs and randomly put them in, and it worked the portal activated and i jumped in to check it out, turns out it teleported me about 650k Ly and so im only 109k Ly from the center, i was able to warp out of the system aswell and continue on my exploration towards the center with no problems. Is this a bug or a feature?

Settlement Expeditions [Question]

So my settlement wanted to go on an expedition to invest whispering eggs. Didn't sound like a good idea, but I figured I'd see what happened. It gave me a 40 minute timer, then 40 minutes later I go back, and nothing changed. All the settlement stats are the same, I didn't gain/lose any affixes. Do some expeditions just have no result? Or is there like an expedition thing I have to click somewhere to see results?

Settlement WILL NOT spawn on my home planet?? [Question]

Okay, so. First off, my system is inhabited. I've gotten settlements to spawn on LITERALLY every single planet in the system other than my home planet. I've tried the whole 'save and restart' thing what must be thirty times (I've been at it nonstop for at least half an hour). I have already done the settlement quest- I'm trying to get one to switch to on my home planet- before anyone says 'well that's why you can't get one to spawn', remember: I've gotten them to spawn on EVERY OTHER PLANET in the same system.

What do I do??

NPC's won't land on my landing pads on my moon base. [Question]

I've had a moon base before with like 6 landing pads and NPC's used to come and land on it for a while before leaving and I really liked that, it's like the only way to make the base feel lived in, I've just made a new base on this moon with like 9 landing pads and no one is visiting? Different versions of the game [Question]

I started playing last week and I love it. Some may say I'm addicted. And last night my nephew got the game so we could play together. I'm on PS5 and he's on PS4 but I know it's cross platform so I think we can join each other.

The only problem is that it seems he's on a different version to me. His paused UI is different to mine and he has iron in his game which I've never seen (only in old versions). Is it a difference in generations or does he just need to update, I'm not sure what's going on

I thought this bug was fixed but obviously not.

I took new settlement (found one on my home planet) and abandoned my old one (which by the way I upgraded fully to give profit and be S class).

The new settlement wont give any options for expansion, disputes or anything else.

Just stays like this accumulating debit and useless.

Patterns in time bugged? (Collecting artifact) [Question]

Hello!

I've been trying to complete this task for two days now 😔

I've managed to get the co-ordinates from the cartographer, and find the ruins but it just doesn't seem to be giving me the right artifacts? I've watched some videos online to see if I am maybe going wrong somewhere and I think the game is bugging as when I interact with the ruin I don't get a message/have a conversation with Hirk. I just get the key and then the chest has other artifacts in it.

Things I've tried: Collecting three keys and opening all sealed chests Restarting quest in another system Purchasing vykeen daggers from a pilot

Is there anything else anyone can suggest?

game-breaking ship glitch in Expedition 3 [Bug]

Has this happened to anyone else? What do I do?

My S-class ship I spawned with suddenly took off flying in circles around my spawn location, while I watched from the ground. The next time I loaded in, it was a 45-minute walk from my spawn location. I made it there in an exocraft only to find that the ship is apparently deep underground now. I haven't been able to find it again, just its marker where it supposedly is now located. Reloading does not reset the ship location. Any ideas on how to reset it back to my base/spawn location?

Stuck on Larval Cores in Expedition [Bug]

I’ve found two abandoned buildings on Gisto thanks to kind folks in this sub posting coordinates. The only issue is that when I arrive at the buildings, I use my mining laser on the whispering eggs, but no larval cores drop. I’ve also tried melee’ing them. I’ve never had this problem before, but I literally cannot get a single egg in expeditions to drop a larval core.

Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else encountered this problem? The eggs just disappear without producing a core.

I've completed all the research projects on my frigate and have 10 modules left. Will there be a use for these later, or should I just sell them or gift them to another player in the Nexus?

Question about base building and my last milestone [Question]

I recently got back into the game after a year or so off. Before I rebuild my underground base, I am still having issues with the earth filling up the station periodically and I have to dig it out - same with the buildings and environmental storms. I spent weeks before trying to get all of those seams to line up with the different parts with not much luck. Before rebuilding it, has that been fixed. I don’t want to spend the energy redoing it if there will still be those invisible leaks

I am also stuck at 28.5 on my survivalist milestone - last one I need. I am still on the planet that got me from 6 to 9, but the progress has stalled. Am I missing something?

I truly do enjoy this group and I appreciate any help you can give.

Space Stations not on teleport list? [Question]

Just getting going for a new game. Space stations are not appearing on my teleport list. Only my original base and 1st station are and only in the original system. Is my game ruined? Not sure I'd play any more if this is the case. Thank.s

New Chairs - Cool? [Bug]

I was excited about the new chairs in Frontiers. You could actually sit on them instead of just spin them around! When I tried one though, I found this little bug. I know it seems minor, but really, it ruins my immersion when items don't cast shadows.

Oh, yeah, the hovering above the chair thing could be considered a bug too.

How to work around common bugs in Expedition 3 - Cartographers [Information]

Grah, interlopers. Having gone through the current Expedition twice now (on PS5 and PC), I thought I would make a post containing solutions or work-around to common bugs I ran into while playing. Annoying they may be, they don't have to be show stoppers. Feel free to add any I missed in the comments, I'm sure our fellow travelers would be happy to see more solutions. The Minotaur Bay - Probably the most annoying bug when you first encounter it, this prevents you from building a Minotaur exocraft bay within the radius of your base. The easiest solution is to move beyond 300u from your base and place it there. Alternatively, if you can find someone else's bay, you can use it to summon the Minotaur and complete the milestone that way. The Teleporter - This bug prevents you from building a teleporter inside or near a building when you first try (displays as red, even if you have full mats and it looks like a valid location). To fix this one, hunt around outside until you find a valid location, probably a short distance away. Move to that spot, then swap to build camera mode and move the teleporter to where you want to put it. You should now be able to build it inside a building. The Power Bug - One milestone requires you to supply 150 units of power to your base, easily achieved via three solar panels. However, often only the first one you build will count, leaving you stuck at 50/150. The only way I found around this bug was to delete (not move) solar panels and rebuild them one at a time, connecting them with wires after each one. Even then it was kind of fiddly both times. If someone knows a better way, be sure to post it. The Space Station Teleporter - Possibly not a bug, but a "feature" of this expedition. You can't teleport to the space station even if you've been there. If anyone knows a way to get this working, let me know; I just ended up flying...

What do you do once the Expedition 3 catalogue is fully completed? [Question]

Hi everyone,

This is my first expedition playthrough and I just completed the last phase and received the rewards. Is there anything further to do on this save file that is unique to the event? Or will the save file itself be deleted in 5 weeks once the event is over so there is no real use in continuing it?

I went AFK in the space anomaly thingy and about 20 minutes after coming back onto my keyboard i noticed i had 10 Fusion Ignitors in my inventory. I am only about 6 hours into the game and have 50k units to my name and I've suddenly got 150m+ worth of items in my inventory?!

Freighters and the inventory they have! [Question]

Can non-capital freighters now be upgraded to the max inventory size to match capital freighters through the derelict items? I really dislike the aesthetic of the capitol ones, and I don't want to feel confined by just 2 variants!

Not happy with the planet my settlement is on. [Question]

Is there a way for me to just go out and find another settlement, or am i stuck with this one? I absolutely hate the snowy planet my settlement is on. There's extreme snowstorms every 3 minutes or so, so i can barely ever see my settlement because of the screen being covered in snow and ice at all times. I REEEEEALLY want a new settlement on a calmer planet. Please tell me i can find a new settlement and abandon the first one.

Some bugs since frontiers in base building. [Bug]

When frontiers came out, a lot of new bugs came with it. Some still persist since last hotfix so I thought I would list them out here.

Small prefab floors don't snap anymore, they also always have the ladder ring present even if there is no ladder.

Cylinder, Cube, Pipe etc... parts from the Structural Adornments category are missing some snap points which makes them horrible to work with.

When frontiers was released, each new category of building tiles (Alloy, Timber, Concrete) had their own unique colour pallets. Since the latest hotfix, only the first colour can be obtained from the new options, when the part is first selected. However the colour menu only has the old colour options. At first I thought it was deliberate, but then I noticed they only have the number of options they did for their unique colours.. but it was selecting the first 7-10 colours. This leads me to believe the old colours were added as options but the amount displayed wasn't changed.

Placed ladders can continue for ever.

Seats no longer function for player characters and we hover over them instead of sitting on them. This is happening even on benches in the Space Anomaly. (since hotfix)

Thin wall stone doors don't have doors, and the stone door part with a window only has half a door which doesn't open or close.

Full walls do not snap to the top of a Thin wall/thin wall door correctly, causing them to snap about a short walls length below the top of the thin wall. This also causes the full wall which is on top to consider it's self a "lower floor"

Floor tiles delete too much terrain beneath/around them and not enough above them. Making it so its hard to walk onto the floor with out placing stairs or jumping. And just generally ugly. Also the player has to delete a lot more terrain manually.

Could someone please explain how chat works in NMS? (Xbox) whilst doing a nexus mission I came across what looked like trade terminals on a planet described as communications I think it was. Someone said hi but I didn’t know how to reply. I don’t want to appear rude so need to learn how to reply. I saw something once about chat to text, does that work?

No Settlements on "Nice" worlds? [Question]

I know "Nice" is a relative term for everyone, but I just got the game last week and was excited about the settlement update. However - the first three I've tried had some kind of really obnoxious environmental conditions like molten rain and shit. I know there are ways to deal with it - that's not really the outcome I'm looking for.

I want to settle on a nice chill planet which feels like "home" so I can return there from all these other really difficult places, but I've tried multiple times on like 5 planets that have descriptions like "Humid" or "Temparate" or "Paradise" and it always puts the settlement on some other hellscape on another planet in the system.

I have read that abandoned/barren planets or planets in systems not controlled by a species generate this error, and that makes sense - but the ones I'm trying on are "owned" by an alien species and have trade posts and such all over the place.

So what is going on here? Am I just unlucky? Are you only allowed to settle on difficult planets because it's a intended as a late-game mechanic or something? I have only made 30 warp jumps so far out of like quintillions of possibilities or whatever, so it could just be that the .0000000001 regions I've visited are particularly rough, but just wondering if any of you have settlements on nice, temperate planets that don't have crazy weather or aggressive sentinels and how one might achieve this miraculous outcome?

I wish the ships in this game were, larger? Or correction, I wish I could wander my ship. Now you might say "well what's the point with freighters?" well, I think it would be nice to maybe manage items or crafting from inside your ship. Like the cortex(?) from warframe, just you can fly your ship as well.

go into date and time and change it to a few hours ahead of what time it currently is. keep going by one hour to try and sync you data. than go into it once you get in and reset your time to auto. it will sync the game file too.

Please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this bug.. [Bug]

I'm finally locked into NMS and having a blast. This current expedition is a lot of fun..

However, there has been this immersion breaking bug following me around. There looks to be the animation of a mining beam on the ground appearing constantly and following me wherever I go. It reappears sporadically. Sometimes behind me, sometimes in front of me. I hate it.

I've tried resetting the game dozens of times and it keeps coming back. I've gotten so hooked into my character that I would hate to have to restart the expedition because of his bug but it's easily one of the worst I've had to deal with since launch.

Does anyone know how to access the space anomaly in the expedition? I’ve warped to the second system and I’m done like 80% of the missions and all I really need is the blueprint for the Minotaur but I can’t access the space anomaly. Frontiers Update and Building Menu [Question]

Hey all! Happy Sunday Funday! I haven't taken an extreme interest in settlements just yet but can't wait to find one and start managing it. The first one I entered had my PSVR lagging and glitching like mad so hopefully the next patch will help with that.

My main question pertains to the build menu and base building parts. As soon as the update launched, I knew I'd need stacks of salvage data to get all the parts from the anomaly. Well, I haven't purchased a single item yet. I jumped in yesterday to do maintenance on bases, frigate fleet, get some more Atlas Seeds, and then decided to build a base near an Atlas Station just so I wouldn't forget where it is during my work week hiatus from playing. I noticed first, it's like instant "glitch building" is doable without the fuss? Secondly, how are we able to build using the newer plan sets/pieces if we haven't actually purchased the blueprints??

Oh, and that new build menu is gonna take some getting used to but otherwise, Nicely Done HG!

Hey guys, how have your settlements turned out so far? Mine keeps going back and forth from an S tier to a B tier, so on and so on. Are the Autonomous Mining Units & Atmosphere Harvesters broken? [Bug]

I set up about a dozen mining units on a planet to gather silver. Each mineral location has a Save Beacon marking the spot. When I refill the units and come back the next day they are all empty even though the fuel has been used.

This is also happening with my Atmosphere Harvesters on a different planet.

If I come back before turning the game off they are all working fine and have mined/harvested things for me to collect.

Anyone else having this issue? Seems like the last update hosed up more than building things.

What do I do after the tutorial? [Question]

I just finished the tutorial and when given the exploration, Artemis, and atlas options I picked Artemis. After the fact though I was reading that after Artemis it resets your game. Is there a way now where I can just play the game and not have a notification on the screen telling me what to do next?

We need a Flying Saucer style ship! [Suggestion]

I'm sure this has been said many times, but in a game like this with so many different kinds of ships, a flying saucer would be an awesome exotic. They could even attach a quest to it like you meet a new species or some weird traveller with a high class saucer style ship and help them repair it and eventually get one for yourself. Im surprised there isn't one already that I know of.

Expeditions.... but why? [Discussion]

I want to do them. The rewards are awesome. But I find them extremely tedious and boring. They are slow and drawn out with the only use is the rewards. I had an idea that they would be very fun. But it's just the main game over and over and over. And it makes things extremely difficult to progress for people that don't have the time for mind-numbing boringness.

am I the only one that hoping for more interaction in settlements? [Discussion]

Been playing around with settlements for a minute and was excited to see they were added, it's been pretty cool, especially watching your town grow and expand, my only problem is

I don't really feel like a part of it

I expected there to be dialouge options maybe, or if your settlement requested a festival or something, accepting it would actually set a time for a festival to occur, where maybe some decorations appeared or anything really, but it just kinda says it happens, you don't see it, right now it kinda feels like:

Citizens ask for something I agree and help build it It's built and doesn't have anything for me to interact with Never see anyone go near that building again

I mean when I built my market I kinda expected it to function as one where I'd get merchants or something, but no one's been near it

Im just not sure if this is a temporary state of things for settlements and they plan to add more life to this feature or if this is all it is, but I hope it isn't, just feels like one big ant hill right now.

Question re ship trails+bobbleheads [Question]

Wonder if anyone can help - I've learned that the figurines and ship trails actually give bonuses when installed, and through adjacency they're actually quite significant bonuses! I've got a few now via twitch drops so I want to use them.

My question is, if I redeem them from the quicksilver merchant and install them on a starship, and then find a better starship that I want to use as my main, have I effectively lost those bobbleheads and trails for that save game?

Can you go to the quicksilver merchant and redeem them again in the same save? Or can you remove them from the first starship and reinstall them on the new one? Or are they a one time, single install per save deal?

Expedition bug? Research parts? [Bug]

I’m either dense and can’t figure it out or something is bugged with my save of Expedition.

I’ve progressed a decent ways through, I have started a base a few times though they bug out on the glitchy wall thing and I end up deleting it all. But I can’t make the base very close to my ship either because my earlier attempts are still locking areas nearby or other players have. Though I cannot see any other base computers. Plenty areas just say can’t edit and I have to keep wandering off further until I find a base locale that will let me claim.

That’s not really what my question is. The issue is I don’t have the ability to build a research station piece. I don’t have it in my parts catalog. And so I can’t really expand my base unless I just need to keep slapping random walls and lights and banners and crap until I accomplish the “expand your base”.

What am I doing wrong and how do I get the research terminal? Also, I found one Herox but need two to take off in my ship. How am I supposed to do that? Just keep wandering and hoping for more floating crystals to show up? Or take off on a literal 2 day trek to the nearest Mandy settlement?

Am I dumb here or what’s going on?

The player base wanting big cities but getting smaller settlements is a good argument for why HG needs to cut the cord with last-gen systems or they will begin to handicap the gameplay potential modern hardware can provide. [Discussion]

I play this game on both PS4 Pro and PC. I put off getting a PS5 for now so I could overhaul my PC. Once I made the upgrade I basically stopped playing on the PS4 Pro version.

No the game is not completely broken on last gen but it is getting more difficult to play after each update. Each injection of new content and new assets that the system has to sort through. Each update seems to throw a couple more speed bumps in front of the game when it comes to last gen consoles.

Now with Frontiers we are not only seeing more demand put on last gen consoles but a holding back of what is possible on next gen systems and more up to date PC hardware. Next gen systems and more current PC hardware would be able to handle larger settlements. More buildings, more assets, more NPCs. But so that the content added to the game is similar to everybody they have to hold back on what they could do so that last gen systems can run it efficiently.

I'm not saying drop all support for the game for last-gen systems. But as far as injecting new content? Leave last gen alone and start making advances to the game based on more current hardware.

Learning language influences destiny [Suggestion]

This is a wish post, one that I was gravely hoping was real the other night I was playing, so I did a bit if reading up and apparently learning and practicing language is very shallow.

What I was hoping was that by learning a language, it has a significant influence in the direction of your character. So like, learning gek would increase gek influence and gain missions there (I think this exists) but learning and practicing partial (or niche) language skills would further alter your character.. let's say I wanted to focus on freight runs, I would try to learn words more associated with trade and freights.. this in turn would naturally mold my character to have better connections into this "world" (i.e. npc friends who are more interested in trade etc). I thought this would be quite an ingenious way to customize a character without actually adding stats etc.

Wondered what others thoughts on this were...

Community Weekend Griefing [Discussion]

Why are people allowed to build on these spots at all? There is an entire building surrounding the last objective of the community mission and I can't find a way in. There are base teleporters inside but I can't find their names in the base list.

I randomly just got in now when the base disappeared as another player lande nearby but now I'm in a locked room and can't leave. This is the 2nd time I've tried restarting this mission because of this.

Settlement Management Tip [Information]

Ahoy hoy travellers! Jus a quick tip for savin a bit of travel time when goin back to your settlement. I've found if I'm doin somethin planet side and don't want to loose my spot but need to run back to the settlement, I jus fly up and summon the anomaly then use it's teleporter to flash to the settlement. After my wonderous and always correct choices as overseer have been made I bring up the quick menu(Down on the D-pad for console or X for PC) and select Return To Space Anomaly. Bam! You've jus been ported back to the Anomaly, right where you left it and it's jus a few seconds to the surface, saving you literal minute(s) of time! Is it the biggest tip? Na, but I found it saved me time when I was reloading a save at a trade post tryin to find an exotic. Hope it helps o7

Can't place any equipment inside my base. [Question]

Ive placed se real glass cuboids and a square room, but like the title says, whenever I try to place anything other then the terminals inside the base, I can't do it. The item just stays red.

Also, I made a 2nd floor in my glass cuboid section, but I can't place any floor tiles in the cuboids on the 2nd level so I can't place steps.

My other base is fine. I can place anything I want.

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Settlement construction GLITCH!!! NEED HELP!! [Question]

Started building a warehouse in the settlement. It started building some walls. Quest says to put 140/140 pure ferrite to progress. But theres no terminal to put in.

Sometimes i see the construction icon in the main hub in the middle of the settlement and sometimes its inside the construction place just hovering in the middle. Cant interact with it or anything.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Ehi guys, played game from a friend in the atlas story rework patch. Did the story or anything change since then? [Question]

Hello,

i played NMS from a friend's ps4 and i really enjoyed the entire narrative of the atlas patch. REALLY enjoyed it.

I'm seeing all the patches but i'm not understanding what is there to do if you finished the story. What do you do with friends exactly, or alone?

I want to buy it for myself on PC and tomorrow the sale ends, i've read the rules and more of a "should i buy this", the actual question is could anyone tell me why you guys are playing it, if that makes sense?

Knowledge stones? alien technology? [Question]

I'm curious as to the lore of a knowledge stone, how is it powered? What is the process in which it's transmitting data to you? Who put the information there and how? Or are they connected to the controlling race of the star system through some central database or is it the space station transmitting? What are the memories you're seeing? The wiki basically explains nothing.

Settlements stuck on “running smoothly”. [Question]

Hey all, ever since the Settlements update came out, I haven’t been able to advance any of my settlements past the first step of building the Overseer’s Office. After building the office, the settlements is stuck on “running smoothly” and no new events/tasks are happening after waiting for days.

I’ve tried abandoning settlements, warp to other systems, reload/restart the game, complete other missions/tasks, but my settlements never advance after building the Overseer’s office and just keep collecting debt.

Is there something I’m not trying to fix this bug? I’m playing on PS4 Pro on the latest update.

A Leap in the Dark Bug [Bug]

Has anyone else had an issue with this mission? I'm on the part where I'm following the portal leylines, I've found the first one, interacted with it, got a trident key. On the second one, though, no matter what I do, I can't interact with the object to progress the mission. I've tried warping to a couple other galaxies because I read that this could possibly reset the mission, but so far that hasn't worked. I really hope I can find a solution to this game breaking bug, I'd hate to have to start over after getting this far! Any help is appreciated!!

What the hell is wrong with the building system? [Discussion]

I swear I'm going to lose my mind. Specifically with the half width stairs. Used to be able to snap them anywhere I wanted no problem. But now? Well they'll go Judy about everywhere besides where I want it to snap to. It'll snap to the other side of the wall, remove the wall and it snaps in place, but now I can't replace that wall. Remove the floor, now it snaps but I cant replace the floor. I was never like that when I built my last base a few days ago. The quarter floor tiles won't snap to the right place half the time and why is it the full width stairs can't be placed with a floor underneath? I know thats always been like that but why? It's such a pain in the ass. Building in this game should be so simple but God damn does it feel like the game goes out of its way to make this such a pain in the ass

Anyone else still having no decisions at settlements? [Bug]

PC/Steam: I've changed settlements a few times and still haven't had any decisions to be made in any of the settlements. It only worked with the first settlement that came with the quest around when the frontiers update first came out, but after changing to other settlements, nothing. I submitted a bug report after the 3.63 update that was supposed to fix it.

Save Point In Overseer's Office - Game Crashes Attempting To Move Anywhere (PS4/5) [Bug]

I was getting tired of being exposed when loading into my Settlement, so I thought, "Hey, let's drop a Save Point in the office. That should help, right?"

Nope. Now, I can't leave the office because the game keeps crashing. It appears to be loading the office geometry last. When I try to move anywhere, the game crashes. When the other geometry in the settlement loads around me, the game crashes. This is an Expedition save file (Expedition 3), and I'd really prefer to avoid having to delete and start all over.

Expedition: Spaceport Alpha Milestone not Completing [Question]

I've entered two colossal archives, two minor settlements (trade outpost), and several small shelters. None of these seem to count as "Find and visit an outpost". I'm becoming very frustrated, as I'd like to move forward with my progress.

I have multiplayer turned off already.

Can't find the Vy'keen tablet? [Question]

I'm doing the Patterns In Time mission, and need to find the Vy'keen tablet. The game's directing me to a submerged ruin where I've been given trident key when i interacted with the blob in the middle of the ruin, and found three chests to open. I've opened all of the chests with keys i found in other submerged ruins, but none of them had the tablet. I've searched the entire ruin to see if there's some other chest i missed, but i think there's nothing left.

Is there something i missed? I'm on PS4, if that matters.

Am I missing something about rotating items in the new building tools? [Question]

You used to be able to rotate some items, notably flora, on both the horizontal and vertical axis. Now I can only see a way to rotate it horizontally. Did the ability to rotate to, for example, match the slope of a hill, go away? Or did I miss how it is implemented? If so, how do I rotate on the vertical axis now?

It was a very useful feature for creating organic looking shapes:

Do you have to keep each upgrade of the hyperdrive to go to all the stars? Or once you get the next tier, can you remove the previous tier and still go to those stars?

Settlement decision glitches [Question]

Hi everyone, I'm on PC, started yesterday, my settlement have decision available, as soon as I try to pick a decision (hold 1) the 2 choices appear and a split second later the menu vanish...

Any solution?
