Quantum computer plans on Expedition? [Question]

So we all need the Quantum Computer plans to actually be able to repair our ship and complete the rest of the expedition. My signal booster found an inhabited settlement....12 hours walk away. I've scanned a bunch more times but only found additional beacons or drop pods. I've seen people mention using the exocraft such as the Pilgrim to get there faster but I'm not sure how yall have that- I only have the Minotaur available to me. The rest are 'not owned'.

Also I did look ahead to the Phase 2 Power generation quest. Would definitely do that- but no power generation options are available to me to build. Zilch. Nada. Those items are not in the Construction terminal, and they don't seem to be offered as any quest rewards...so... am I boned? Do I have to walk the 12 hours to complete this?

Already sick of the new expedition. Anyone else? [Discussion]

Between having to scan 18 minerals, pull herox out of your ass, and every other necessary step that’s only tedious and annoying for the sake of it; this is awful. Challenging shit should be fun, or at the very least doable. This isn’t even that. Get fucked over and spawn far inland like me? You can’t complete the mineral milestone, unless you wanna drive in one direction for 5+ hours.

Am I the only one? Or is this some of the worst content we’ve seen in NMS?

Stuck on the Starbirth mission [Discussion]

I've gotten the egg, gotten all the matured stuff and met the alien ship again, my current objective is "The egg requires a specific world, examine the egg, unconventional travel may be required" and now I have a path in my galaxy map that's too far away to see. I read the wiki and it said something about how I would receive coordinates for a portal, can someone help and tell me what to do because I'm confused as to what kind of planet I need to go, what this is about unconventional travel and where I need to go.

Is there a guaranteed settlement on each planet? [Question]

Found two Paradise planets, one is bio luminescent which I loved so much but when I used settlement chart, it sent beacon to a whole different planet.

Same with the 2nd paradise planet. My current settlement is a desert planet and I dont hate it but I prefer the other two.

Any help on this question will be appreciated

Cannot start expedition 3 [Question]

Redownloaded the game after couple of months after the third expedition came out. however when i tried to play it, it shows as in screenshot, that the expedition is complete and i cannot click on it. i checked the nexus on a normal save and it showed the rewards for the 3rd expedition saying i need to complete to claim. Am i doing something wrong here?

ps. i have not completed any expedition before. however played the second one a bit.

Expedition is actually unplayable right now. [Discussion]

Maybe it's just PS4, but I can't get anywhere in the expedition cause every time I make progress the game crashes. Not to mention it crashes EVERY TIME I try to manual save. So my only way to save is by getting in and out of my ship which can't leave the space it's sitting in, and even that crashes sometimes. And now my next objective is to find locations and manually save at them, locations that are already hours and hours away.

Devs, if it's not finished, don't release it. Hello Games, more than anyone, should understand this by now.

Owned Settlement on an undiscovered in an undiscovered solar system [Bug]

I recently suffered from the glitch of my settlement flopping like a fish and doing nothing after changing it with another. At the same time, my solar system seemed to lag a lot, so I decided maybe I should move and find another nice planet, where the glitch might fix. Entering a new, undiscovered solar system, I explored a grassy planet for a bit, but eventually got sent to a tropical through the use of a settlement chart. When I arrived, floating above it, I thought it was suspicious, as there was more buildings than usual, like a landing pad, a building under construction, and just generally more buildings. When I went to view the middle piece to see if I could claim, it was owned already. By 'other player'. Is this a glitch?

PS5 Expedition Fix [Suggestion]

PS5 Expedition Save Game Crash Been playing Expedition since launch and my game crashed every time I went to save.

Literally was unplayable every 5 minutes I saved to make sure I only had a small amount to replay and it was 50/50 if it would crash.

TOP TIP - disable multilayer in network settings. Played smooth and no crash when saving.

Large Hydroponic Trays not snapping inside Cuboid Rooms? [Question]

I decided to jump back into an old save today and move my farming base from one planet to a new one.

It took a while but after rebuilding the base I can no longer snap in place the large hydroponic trays inside cuboid/class cuboid rooms like they did before. It just flashes red and says ‘cannot build, must attach to structure’.

Has something changed or am I missing something obvious? The cuboids are on top of cuboid frames. Any help would be appreciated.

Base at hazardous planet? [Question]

I have a settlement on a snow planet, in the same galaxy there is a paradise planet. I really like the snow setting but kinda feel that is dumb to create a base in a snow planet while a paradise planet is near.

Is there any reason not to built on the paradise planet but on a snow one other then purely the closeness of my settlement?

Help! Expedition completed, without completing it. [Question]

Hello Travellers,

today I started the new Expedition and my friend joined my game right after initalising. He then instantly got message that he completed the expedition and he could transfer the savegame into a normal one. He accepted, left the game to start a new expedition, but that isn't possible! The game says that the expedition is completed and he has to wait for a new one.

Any ideas?

Mount de-spawn bug: Share your experiences! [Discussion]

So fast mounts, land and air, seem to suffer from a bug causing them to de-spawn on their own at a random point during any prolonged travel. Happens with my land mount when sprinting, otherwise I think it isn't going fast enough to trigger the bug. Everyone seems to be loving their super fast beetles but I haven't been able to enjoy them because of how often/randomly they de-spawn right in the middle of flight.

I'm not getting any answers on Facebook so thought I would try my luck on here. I'm trying to find a different settlement on a nicer planet than the one I originally got but every single settlement I find even though I'm the first person to make contact in that system ends up saying it's already owned by another player? How is this possible?? Is this a bug and is there a way to fix this?

Why isn't MMS updating to 3.64 XBox One S? [Question]

It says I have 3.63 and when I go to start the expedition, the banner says downloading data.

When I go to look at the updates available on the Games & Apps, there's no update for NMS.

Can't exit out of build mode (vr) [Question]

Ok, I'm probably just being stupid. I haven't played since last expedition so admittedly there are some cob webs. But some things are definitely different. For instance, when trying to build a portable refiner there are now a bunch of options on my left hand to rotate, scale, etc, which is cool. I'm also completely unable to build one or exit out of build mode once engaged, which is not cool. I've tried every freaking button (should be left trigger to back out). The icons on my hand do nothing. And I can't place the refiner even though I'm getting the green light. Am I missing something? Or is this a common frontiers bug?

Keeping the Expedition 3 Frameshift Catapult ship [Discussion]

G'day Folks,

I was sort of hoping those new engine techs would become available either as rewards or after the expedition closes, but we know they aren't rewards.

Unlike many here, I have <100 hours in my current playthrough. I'm toying with the idea of starting over using the expedition exotic with its neat-o technology pieces.

It does sacrifice a slot for the pressurized containment which most ships don't need and it looks like that'll also increase warp cell consumption. Anyone know any other downsides? I haven't exhaustively tried to determine if mods/upgrades function for the launcher or other engines normally.

Tricks to tricky base bits? [Question]

I am having some frustration getting some things to snap in certain situations, and wonder if y'all have any tips.

Specifically my biggest issue is snapping small floors in tight spots. Getting them to snap is a nightmare. My theory is it happens when too many snap points are fighting for thr floor, but it never seems to be the one you want. I have run into several incidents where a floor may need to full a spot that has floors around it, and maybe even walls as well, and the small floor is just colliding no matter how I position it. When I'm out doors I sometimes have success zooming way out and placing it at a distance, I can't do that from an interior.

The only other way had been to just remove pieces until there aremt as many things around fighting for the snap point, but that can make even more problems.

I have zero issues getting large floors to snap where ever I want, but small floor just fight me.

I had similar issues with narrow walls, though not to the same extent.

My other big issue is stairs (ramps). In some places I can get them to snap up against a wall, bit in others the wall causes collision. The physics box for them seems to also prevent things from going beneath them, but not consistently.

I've made mods for FO4 so I'm famiar with the bounding boxes and snap points that can cause headaches, but I'm not sure if I'm diagnosing these right, or what the solution is.

Hello Games REALLY fucked up this Expedition update [Bug]

It’s literally unplayable for me. I even have multiplayer off, and twice today I’ve lost a total of 4 hours progress because it doesn’t register using the save point and then the piece of shit crashes.

It’s bad enough that this current Expedition is basically a walking simulator on a single planet.

Expedition save bug “fix” [Bug]

Turn off the internet of your console. On PS5 I just went to the network settings (console not in-game) and switched internet access off. No more crashes. Before, with internet on, I had around 50% chance to crash when saving.

Not sure which other platforms have this bug, or if this fix works (probably on pc it can be more complicated). Hope this helps some of you.

I don’t take credit for this, I simply saw this mentioned in a comment on the expedition announcement post, and after testing it successfully I felt it deserved more visibility until HG can deploy a fix.

Vy’ken settlement vs Gek settlement [Discussion]

I know that this is personal taste an all but I can’t decide between which one I like more. The Vy’ken are super cool Tatooine-like settlement you could find in the middle of nowhere in some random planet, but interiors are a bit dark and claustrophobic.

But the I also love the modern Gek style with big windows and large open spaces, but their buildings are very blocky and look kinda out of place.

What do you guys like more? And why?

Everyone's been talking about how No Man's Sky finally reached a positive review on Steam but... [NMS-IRL]

...but no one's talking about how the price of a used copy at gamestop has been steadily going up too.

Back when I bought a ps4 2-3 years ago No Man's Sky was the first game I got, i bought it new and iirc it was only $25 and maybe a few bucks cheaper used. But maybe a year ago I noticed the price for a used copy had gone up, then yesterday when I was in there I noticed a used copy was now $40.

I mean rightfully so considering the amount of content (I even bought another copy for a friend at some point and made sure to get it brand new so money went to the devs, plus it was only $25), but im pretty sure NMS has gotta be the first game in history to gain value instead of losing it at Gamestop lmao.

Were the previous expeditions this frustrating? [Discussion]

This expedition is the first one I've tried doing. And so far I just find it to be really frustrating. It's taking forever to repair my ship, mainly just due to how difficult it is to get around. I'm not sure if the entire planet is like this, but the area I am in is incredibly hilly and has tons of plants all over. So if there isn't a mountain in the way there's a ton of plants you have to walk around or fly over.

It's also kinda of annoying that it seems as though the order of various milestones are placed somewhat randomly. I thought it would progress towards getting the parts I need to fix my ship. But you have to skip ahead a lot if you want to get your ship fixed sooner. And considering what a pain in the ass it is walking around this planet, getting my ship fixed fast is my main concern.

Settlement progression bug after move [Bug]

I know they patched the progression but after I moved to a new settlement ( the old ones I found before also still say belong to someone else) I built the overseer office and nothing has prompted since, anyone else have this going on ?

I did have a building that was still in progress before I moved so maybe that's bugged in the game somewhere because it was never finished.

I see you also cant claim you old settlement back was thinking about swapping and swapping back but I do not want to loose this one its on a paradise with a crashed freighter on mountain overlooking it

Managed to squeeze a productive first hour of unlocks only for it to crash back to the dashboard. Previous save was 4 mins into the whole expedition. 😅😒 Save often, people. Would be nice for HG to implement an auto-save feature perhaps each time a milestone/badge is achieved, maybe.

So I’ve just started playing and a lot of the systems are a bit confusing.. someone gave me two S class upgrades for my ship, one for the hyperdrive and the other for the pulse engine. Continuing Expedition play [Question]

G'day Folks,

A quick question wrt continuing the Expedition save once it converts to Normal.

There are some devices not normally accessible via the research computer on the Anomaly such as the various technician workstations, base salvage capsule, and maybe others. I suspect a player is granted those through the initial missions which the Expedition character didn't do. Can they be acquired or are Expedition characters locked out of such things?

NoMansSky Worth It In 2021 [Discussion]

Hey Everyone.

I owned this game back in 2016 on PS4 and played it for maybe a day or two and haven't touched it since, largely due to the lack of NPCs (gameplay felt lonely, not to mention other things).

I'm debating getting it again on PC. I've seen reviews and other posts suggesting the game has tremendously improved since 2016, and tons of Steam Review shoutouts to Hello Games for being decent devs (which is incredibly rare these days).

I would love to hear what this community thinks of NoMansSky in 2021 vs 2016, specifically the top/best updates since launch, most popular features, storyline/quest changes, NPC improvements, and overall opinion on how the gameplay has improved.

PSA: Finding Freighters during the Expedition [Information]

While waiting for my mining operation to conclude, I did some warping. Every warp past the second, gave me a freighter fight. The first was non-capital and all the rest capital. It took a few fights to get to A class, but I got there. I just don't have the patience to force a S class. Hope my experience wasn't just a bug, peculiar to me.

How do you increase pet riding speed in VR? [Question]

I can ride my pet in VR, but I can’t figure out how to make it go fast. Moving the left stick directs it at a very slow speed. Moving the right stick doesn’t seem to do anything. Clicking down the right stick activates my jetpack and I hop off my pet. Any tips?

A feature I've always wished this game had [Suggestion]

I wish killing Sentinels lowered a planet's Sentinel presence rating. It would make the game's combat and planet hunting more meaningful. If you find the perfect planet for a base but there are too many Sentinels, you could kill a bunch and lower the presence and make it feel even more like 'your' planet. It would be awesome to team up with a buddy and raid a huge Sentinel base to free the planet from their overseers.

I know NMS was never perfect when it came to base building, but literally nothing fits together now with this new update. Floors aren't snapping to walls, etc...

And it's been a while since I've played but I feel like entire sets of pieces are missing. I swear there were more roofing options for Cuboids...! Weren't there also big frontage doors for cuboids too? Or maybe there was another set that they took out? Something between wood and alloy?

I just remember on PS4 I had this big, glass building with a big frontage door...but now it seems like the only big glass wall options are in the Wood category...maybe I'm losing my mind though...

Bit confused on the gene splitter. The wiki seems to be incorrect on the info it gives [Question]

I'm trying out the gene splitter for the first time. The fandom wiki says at 100%, it'll mutate one part into another part, and if I overdose the egg to 150%, it'll mutate two parts. So I went ahead and just went up to 100%. I have a trex with a razer teeth jaw, horns, trex hands, regular tail, and feathers on its back and arms. I'm trying to get rid of the feathers. I take it up to 100%, I hatch the egg, it's a monster. It's not a beak thing with salad finger's fingers, a scorpion tail (which I kind of like) and some fins on its back. Pretty much everything has changed about it except it still has the horns on its head. Wiki said it should've only changed one thing though. So I go ahead, I try again, same result. I tried a third time, this time only dosing it with 56%, same result. Anyone else have any luck with figuring out the splitter? Or an in-depth guide? A lot of the guides I find don't go deep enough until details (just saying, "use splitter to change parts), or they'll direct me to the wiki, or they'll say the same thing the wiki says. I understand some parts are guaranteed to turn into a specific other part, like a rat Diplo will always turn into a snake Diplo (just an example, I don't think that's the actual result), but I find other posts from other people saying that when they go to breed another generation, trying to turn that snake Diplo into it's next transformation, it stays a snake Diplo (again, just an example). If I could at least find out if the cycling between parts worked between generations, that'd be almost enough, but even then, it's changing all of my parts, not just one. I just want one changed and I'll RNG it until it's the right one. So anyone else have luck with this?

Cannot join friends through multiplayer [Bug]

The title gives the gist of my issue. I have a friend on PC and on Xbox. I've tried joining both of them and have received the same error. (Mismatched version). While I know this means they're on a different update of the game, they and I (PS4) are updated to the current version.

We've also tried using planetary portals to meet up with one another on set worlds. Another issue arises where we are unable to see one another although we are in the exact same system and we've even tried to go into the same space station in that system. For some reason no matter what we do we cannot join one another.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's a big universe to play alone in.

Expedition 3: Minatour Deployment [Discussion]

I'm attempting to deploy one for my use. However, there are 5 already on the planet. What's the point? I went for it because others suggested getting one and it took me a minute to figure out how to get stuff. The base research terminal should have clued me in. But, no. I'm thinking, "This would sure be easier if I could just get into space and summon the anamoly." First time and all. Anyway, I'm stuck with no mobility options that would actually make any sense. I'm also assuming the later you get in on the expedition the more fucked you are. But, they did plop down an exotic S-class ship for me. WooHoo! Can't you see my excitement? I'd rather have an S-class fighter.

Frustration [Discussion]

It's so frustrating that after all the patches...I still can't enjoy the recent release of frontiers or expedition 3 bc of the constant dashboarding ( I'm on Xbox one ). Frontiers dashboards me on the regular trying to save, all settlements say they belong to another player. Expo 3 crashes me whenever I try and save. It's just so damn frustrating bc I wanna effin play lol. Hopefully with the release of 3.64 ( tomorrow I hope ) that maybe I'll finally get to experience frontiers and expo 3.

I’m on the part where you have to break into the facility and I did that using my ships blasters. I entered and did everything, including the fury creature part and when I left nothing happened. I went into space and still nothing. I can’t even go back to the facility because the map marker is gone? Is the game bugged?

Settlement decorations and more. [Suggestion]

I really love the settlements they add so much life into the world's. That being said as far as gameplay goes there is very little. Everything is super time gated and the disputes are literally just a slot machine mechanic.

I have seen many people glitch building into their settlements which is cool but has caused many bugs and problems.

I propose making a new building option menu tree simply called settlement. This tree can be unlocked through the overseer terminal using points that you gain by doing actions in your settlement. The tree can be composed of many different decorations and can be tested to ensure that it won't glitch out your settlement. There can be quests such as supply settlement with so and so resource or find so and so. These can be tied into other content updates like the abandoned freighters. Also could have like scan all the plants on your planet type stuff or even map all the other planets in the area. Or how about set up communications with another nearby settlement.

I also propose reducing the time gate and adding more resource gathering to building new buildings. You could also require special objects to build a building that can only be found by doing a quest.

Anyways, I think settlements are super cool and I hope that they are expanded upon in the near future.

Frontiers: so do settlements actually add any new gameplay? [Question]

From what I have seen it looks like you can get one settlement with some minor dialogue and building options that ultimately just end up being another reskinned credits farm that doesn't introduce any new systems to change any other aspect of the game.. Am I missing something? Is there any actual depth to the settlements?

Easy rocketman [Information]

To get the rocketman achievement easily, just install the terrain manipulator, dig sideways a little bit, then up just a bit. Jetpack next to the wall you've made. You'll burn through some life support, yes, but next to the wall it counts as "climbing" so you never run out of boost time.

Trouble finding alien settlement expedition 3 [Question]

Any one else having this trouble? My planetary maps charted two places 5 hours and 8 hours away. 1 beacon 1 hour away. I’ve been wandering for over two hours without any luck. Sadly other players bases don’t count. I can’t finish phase 1 without this achievement.

Is my only solution to just start walking!?

What’s with the game crashing so much? [Question]

It crashed twice on the expedition and made it last longer than needed, and now I had just finished my living ship mission and the moment I entered it, it crashed again and made me go back to that lagspike mess of bases called Ischel-Althu. It’s crashed four times today and twice yesterday. My game has literally only crashed like twice before. What even is going on? Update: literally just crashed again as soon as I entered warp drive in Ischel-Althu.

So I found that apparently you don't need to keep all the drives you buy since the S class drive can reach Blue as well as green and red? But I noticed they all add onto the hyperdrive range. Does other drives and tech do similar? Does having all the translator tech installed translate six words instead of just three?

Double jump/landing jump removed? [Question]

Pre update, when double tapping the jump button, the character would lunge forward and fly at a higher speed, same when tapping/holding jump while landing. This was handy in the anomaly and space stations where the melee boost is not available. I cannot seem to get this to.work, has this been removed? Is it a bug? Was it never intended/noticed?

The NPCs in the settlements need interactions like in the space station. They could do so much with that too, like giving us missions to go do something, even recruit new NPCs for our settlements. Also adding more shops like a ship customization shop, and multi tool shop would also be a welcome addition.

I'd love to see something where we can sell our ships and MTs to other players kind of like fallout 76 does. It would be an awesome feature if we had ship customization and we can sell and buy cool customized ships.

Do custom voice mods work? [Modding]

I decided to try and get back into the game with some friends when I heard about the Frontier update. It seems really cool! The bad part is they still have the screeching A.I. voice for your exosuit. I can't stand it, but I'd rather not use mods to mute it entirely.

I looked around on Nexus Mods and I found some cool mods that replace the robot A.I. voice with something easier on my ears, but one of the comments said that no voice mods are currently working ever since the Desolation Update.

So are none of them working? If someone has/knows of one that is working please let me know!

Incurring any debt resets the timer for goods (Settlements) [Question]

I just want to confirm something I've noticed, which is that when I have a timer counting down the next point I'll receive goods, and then make a settlement decision that gives any amount of debt (even something trivial, say getting standing by helping someone for 6k debt), on the completion of that new debt going away, the countdown timer timer for getting new goods flips to 20 hours.

If that is by design, you have to stay debt free for at least 20 hours to ever collect anything. If that's not something others are seeing, I guess I'm confused and wondering if this is a bug. As it stands, given you get missions every ~half hour or whenever you sign after being signed out for a bit, how do you ever collect on anything at a settlement aside from just not ever agreeing to any form of settlement debt?

I looked, and saw a lot of complaints about settlements, but I haven't seen this one, so I want to make sure I'm not seeing something weird, and that this is widespread/intended.

PSVR: Why can't I recolour base parts? [Discussion]

There's no option to change the color of parts in the new building menu. What gives? Not only that, but as of Update 3.65, there are still many parts that just refuse to snap together, and more that can snap (like the small floors and small stairs) but usually require a 30 second fight just for the preview to appear where I'm pointing at.

And furthermore, Carthago delenda est there's still no button mapped for Exocraft boost on the move controllers.

I've tried reloading about 20 times. settlement data always spawns a settlement off planet from the paradise planet that I found and want to settle on. I had already accidentally accepted the settlement mission from space and claimed a different settlement elsewhere... Their sprint is nuts. Like Ludicrous speed. It lasts a decent length of time, and it charges fast.

There is a trade station like 10 minutes from the spawn point. It says 40- something, but by Minotaur it's 10-ish minutes away. By bike it's 5-ish.

On that note: You can summon your ship to a trade station before the engine is fixed!!!

Work toward getting the Exocraft summon station. At some point as you're expanding your exploration radius, The Mechanical Man will likely complete itself.

Hello everyone! :) I just purchased NMS about 1 week ago and have been playing it every day. I just saved 5 million for the coordinates and went to explore the ship. I flew around outside and there was nothing so I went in (didn't know you can do that, neat). I searched it all and even went through it 3 times to make sure I didn't miss anything. Finished the story part, turned it in and sold everything and only got about 2.5 or 2.6 million back, which seems like I lost a lot of money and time and it wasn't worth it in the end. Did I do something wrong or is that normal?

No Anti-matter recipe? [Question]

I just came back to No Mans Sky after a .... very long break.

I am about 35 hours in to my save game, and I dont have a recipe for anti-matter.

I googled a couple of different recipes for the refinery and they either come us blank or rusted metal.

Base was overtaken. How can I prevent this from happening again ? [Question]

I built a base/indium farm on an already populated world. After coming back to it a couple weeks later it had been overtaken.

My computer was still there and all of the structures but a giant and much better indium farm was built on top of my former home. I don’t understand what I did or didn’t do that allowed this to happen.

Now I am at least 100 galaxies away from Euclid. In the off chance someone does happen upon my base what can I do to prevent it from being overtaken like my last one was ?

They are developing this game as we're playing it. It's one step above Early Access. They are adding more and more to the game every few months, every penny you paid is becoming more and more valuable.

It's okay to report bugs but there's no good reason to stress yourself over it. If it's THAT bad - just play another game? Why not? Are you subscribed monthly to NMS?

I updated to 3.65 and the settlement I found on a lush planet still says its owned by someone else. There is another settlement in the system that IS actually owned by another player with stats but this one just says 0 for everything still. Big things are coming for exploration, from a data miners perspective [Information]

I know all of us explorers are feeling very, very left out. Although I am happy for the base builders, this did not feel like an update for us. But! I have some very interesting insight/news to share

Over 100k files have been changed, which is insane, considering NEXT had about 90k, so by technicality, this is one of the biggest updates for game.

There have been some very interesting file changes and system changes as well.

There appears to be a new system in which Flora, assets, and buildings can be dynamically placed. Meaning that they aren't constrained towards a certain biome and they can theoretically have procedural assets, density, and sizes

The second thing that is being worked on (atleast from the file changes) is a system that can generate entire new planets, without having to rebuild new ones. (Think of origins but without any of the changes to the OG planets) this indicates that either, A. They are working on new planet types/biomes. Or B, they are planning to introduce a completely new galaxy(s)

The third and most interesting thing, is that they appear to be working on a base blue print system. I have very limited info to work with, other then a few files with the name BASEBLUEPRINT, etc.

And the most common one that people seem to talk about is that they are heavily working on water both visually and mechanically.

I would provide screenshots and what not, but it doesn't really translate well over pictures, it would look like gibberish and make no sense. I am happy to send info or "proof" to anyone who is curious in dms!.

I know there is this rumor flying around that this wasn't the "big" update. The version number and what not sort of lead me to believe that, however. The biggest red flag is the files themselves. I believe that the "big" update is still on the horizon, and I, as an explorer; am very...

The game, after selecting a save, gets stuck at a white screen, and crashes the entire system, the whole console just shuts off after a long period (about a minute to three minutes) of repeated sound. Never says initialize, or to hold 'X' damn thing just crashes.

Settlements need to learn how to open up a Savings Account... [Suggestion]

My settlement is finally in the black and producing items for me to snag every 19 hours (GekNip and Welding Soap - I'm going to be rich, RICH!). However, every time a visitor comes to the Settlement with an amazing "X or E" choice, the choice that leads to the Settlement incurring debt resets the Production Status. I'm never gonna get my hands on that sweet, sweet GekNip at this rate. It would be nice if the Settlement were to accumulate wealth to keep this from happening.

This is my current pet peeve (amongst others) with the Settlements - I really like how HG has been pumping out the updates for Frontiers the way they have, but I sure would like the Settlements to add a heck of a lot more depth, such as inhabitants who occupy and work in the buildings being built, such as the Saloon I'm currently building! It would be great to have more functionality for buying and selling resources, etc., and allow us to steer the development of our Settlements into truly functional homes with the benefits of all of the vendors in a Space Station. I don't think I need to reiterate the desire for more NPC conversation depth besides "Leave!"

Can't create any exocraft bay in cartographers [Bug]

Cartographers requires as quite a few of the objectives that you use an exocraft. However, it's been giving out an error message that says "limited to 5 per planet", which seems to imply that I can't build my exocrafts because there's too many bays in other players' bases? How the heck am I supposed to finish those objectives, then?

It’s like the galactic map filter for life forms, but it lets you turnoff all human user created map markers [Suggestion]

Hell is other people who leave message modules on vital event planets that say “Follow me on Twitch @SaLvAgEDdAtA”

Or how all of the 100s of map markers are all center gathered on your map and you’re trying to find just your base mode but….

New Save Needed? [Question]

Good evening travelers. I haven’t played NMS in almost 2 years. I have a 75 hour save with 125 million units, and a circuit board farm (not sure this is even worth anything now). Do I need to start a fresh save to get all the stuff and have it apply? Should I anyway even if it’s not needed? New building question/help. [Question]

I don’t like this “smart” approach where one piece changes the appearance of another piece.

For example, I have full windows, but when I place a wall underneath the windows change.

Or my full wood wall, changes when I place a wall underneath. Is anyone experiencing this? Is there a way to turn this off. It’s making building very challenging.

I can't claim rewards from Expedition 3 in my main save [Question]

Same thing happened back in Expedition 2, i still have my save with the golden ship, nothing belonging to the expeditions appears in the quicksilver shop in my main save and i'm beginning to think the monstrosity pet and the golden ship are exclusive of those saves, is this a known problem or something? I really, really would like it if i don't have to touch the game files or use a save file editor.

Mineral scanning is annoying in cartographers [Discussion]

I'm about to go bonkers trying to find these last 3 minerals in this expedition. It wouldn't be so bad if I could get in my shop and fly somewhere else but to have ship repair gated behind that discovery milestone is very frustrating. I've only managed to stumble across one very small cave in my 3 hours of playing and no deep water. If anyone has tips other than "wander aimlessly and hope for the best" I'm all ears.

Multiplayer disabled. [Question]

So why do I still get new bases and whatevers popping up in my game? Why do I still other people in my game? I disabled it for a reason, because both previous expeditions were rather janky with so many people and structures around. And while the amount I still get is not as high (I think) as it would be with multiplayer enabled.... It's still annoying.

Sorry if I'm being a noob, missing the obvious. But it's bugging me. Are expeditions always supposed to be multiplayer or something? Because I can't seem to recall that being mentioned anywhere, so if the answer is yes... it should be better communicated in the game, like when you start a game for example.

Mineral Extractor turning off at night. [Question]

Hey guys so I have a decent amount of knowledge on the game, but not everything. I'm currently doing the expedition and I'm on the step where I need to get 1000 minerals from an extractor.

I've never actually messed with this as I'm always jumping systems and such. My extractor keeps turning off at night and I've been reading the general rule of thumb is to have 2 panels to one battery. Is that right?

Can you put more than one extractor on a given spot and does each extractor need its own battery and panels? I'm just trying to get get bare minimum for the phase but any knowledge for later would be much appreciated.

I noticed recently they added, basically Settlements to the game and an Expedition Mode. Does the expedition mode offer anything extra, or is it more of a difficulty increase? And is there a benefit to going multiplayer thats other than seeing players maybe fly around?

I think when I last seriously played, they just did either Foundation or Pathfinder. Is there anything I will lose out, from playing single player, from not doing other modes since its been so long?

Base radius extension still works, BUT [Information]

Radius extending still appears to work, but it seems you have to use the new building parts. I was able to get 1,010u from my base computer placing aluminum arches every 50 to 100u.

However, I was only able to select about 1/3 of the arches to delete as I walked back. So it seems buggy.

After a save and reload, the radius appeared to become more stable and I was able to remove/edit items.

Hello i recently purchase the game and started playing and the game is crashing almost twice every hour or so, i read that turning off the online settings would help with this issue, i also tried rebuilding my database and the game still crashes a lot, the weird thing is im playing with a friend who has the game on an older ps4 the fat model and his game runs fine it does crash but not has frequently has mine does, is there something you guys can recommend? do you guys think deleting the game and re download it would do any difference? thank you in advance

Is base building worse after the latest update? [Question]

Can't place a wall or floor next to half stairs, I've restarted a base multiple times now and stairs are absolutely pointless now cause they glitch the area around them to not being snapped to other objects. Upgrading from A class to S class freighter? Worth it? What do I lose? [Question]

So I'm struggling to understand the mechanics of how this works as the game has changed a lot over the years but I've only recently started playing in the last few weeks.

In my original search for a freighter I ended up with a free A class Capital freighter worth 100,000,000 (34+9). I have added some storage containers, refiners, matter beam and 1 hyperdrive (red) updates upgrade but otherwise not much.

I was just in the process of upgrading it's hyperdrive to green systems. And I had just upgraded my starship for green systems and when I hit that first system I had a battle. Our of curiosity I went on the freighter and it was S class capital freighter worth 178,000,000 (34+9).

I have 88,000,000 units so it would bring me down to 10,000,000. But is it worth it and what happens to my freighter and it's stuff? From some reading it seems I lose my upgrades but do I keep those blueprints (matter beam, hyperdrive, etc)? I haven't done much of building out inside except refiners so not much lost there.

Because I was in the process is upgrading my freighter hyperdrive, I can't warp it to me to do anything with it.

I recently discovered that you can summon a pilgrim exocraft through the quick menu and it counts as the minotaur. Not sure if its a bug or if its meant like that, similar to the last expedition and freighters.

No need to waste data on the summoning station though.

Troubles with building [Information]

I’ve just recently started playing (PlayStation) and I’ve gotten to a point where I wanted to build a home base. Originally I tried the prefab pieces which were very versatile so I moved to cuboid as they seemed better. However most of the pieces don’t snap properly. My stairs and floors don’t snap at all while foundations snap sideways. So I tried moving onto the new building pieces introduced for settlements. Things were going great (besides the lac of interior light) until my pieces started disappearing. Lights, my portal, refiners, etc. I haven’t even left the system, the most I’ve done is go to the local space station and come back.

I guess my point is that hoping for some suggestions on the best (least broken) pieces to use. I’ve watched a few building guides but I’d also love recommendations for more.

Side question. Would it be better just to switch over to PC and mod the game? Ive put a decent amount of time into my save file. I have a maxed out exotic, S class multi tool and most of my exosuit slots. Is it worth starting from scratch?

I got an a shuttle in front of me with 23 slots A rank, but I'm seeing A explorers with 19 slots at 1.5m . I'm at the first space station, and went a bit crazy farming asteroids wanting to buy a solid starting ship. Are shuttles only good to the extent of inventory they provide? and if so, would it be worth giving up 3-5 slots for a fighter/explorer?

Basically, is it even worth bothering with a shuttle after you hit 2-3 mil ?

Settlement still stuck with no progression? Try this. [Information]

Travel to the center of the galaxy. Physically go into the center and let the game take you to a new one. Google for the glyphs to get you there. Port from any station back to your settlement. That fixed it.

Don’t use a station/freighter/base portal to travel to a base or station in another one you’ve already visited - it won’t work. It has to be the planetary structure you charge up. Or fly I guess.

Doing this reactivates the quest for the new galaxy. And somehow fixes a stuck one. I changed locations three times to no effect but this worked. Upon return I was able to immediately start a build and make a decision or two.

Turn Off Your PvP! - Expedition [Suggestion]

I’m currently playing Expedition mode and as I was running around for ancient bones, BAM! Murdered by another player. I had switched off Network earlier due to crashes and when I switched back I forgot to turn PvP off. A random guy camped me and killed me 3 times before I was able to flick it off, losing all my stuff. I’m almost finished so I just need to refarm the cobalt, chromatic, etc. but just a warning so we don’t let these guys win: Turn off your PvP! There’s still d*cks out there.

Spooked [Question]

Was standing in the anomaly reading some quests when someone dropped some items that do not seem like they should have just been handed out. No Settlement Progression Bug Fix for PC [Bug]

I found a fix for the bug that causes Settlements to be stuck and not give out any settlement choices due to discarding the first settlement and selecting a new settlement. The bug fix was found on the posts for one of the mods that adjusts the timers for Settlements on Nexus Mods.

The bug fix requires the No Man's Sky Save Editor and requires going to Edit Raw JSON, go to PlayerStateData, then SettlementStatesV2. Search for the Settlement name, and then go to LastJudgementTime. LastJudgementTime should be bugged by showing a 0 value when it should have a much larger number based around how long you have played. So just copy the value from LastUpkeepDebtCheckTime to LastJudgementTime to get a reasonable value.

Unfortunately due to the bug fix requiring No Man's Sky Save Editor, it can't work on consoles.

Why should we ignore this? [Discussion]

This last release and the following patches has been very low quality.

dont get me wrong the amount of new assets is amazing, BUT:

The suggestion to go aroung and do stuff or explore the galaxy for a player with 600 hours is just mocking the person investing time in this. I already have all the tech, 5 different, maxed out ships, a maxed out frighter, all the quest lines, I fully explored the system I want to put my settlement in.

What should I do Sean?

For a new player the 2 hours cooldown for the missions (when they actually appear) is understandable, they still have to build bases, mines, buy ships, find stuff and the waiting is drowned in a ton of other activities.

For a player that has everything this new mechanic doesn't add anything except the waiting time.

It's not content for old players, is a new distraction for the new player to avoid them thinking about the game loop, but this solutions are imo, temporary.

The fact that a simple multi tool technic in my base has more interactions and/or utility than a whole city is the best proof of this, nothing that your city will produce will be as valuable as the daily C class Multi tool that you get offered by the technician.

How, How a whole, new, innovative, patch has less in game utility than a quest npc.

Tl;dr

Sean wtf why are we here? just to suffer?

Lpve the game,, but they seriously need to just focus on optimizing the game for a bit. I've never had so many crashes and weird ass bugs before lol. From save corruption, to reload spamming for a quest that's been glitches for 4 years, to the constant constant crashing. Please fix this. Game also melts my 1 year old ps4 pro.

My younger daughter plays this game, and has extolled its virtues to me, so I decided I'd try it.

I have no freaking clue what the dickens I'm doing!

I'm 74. I play lots of other games, so I'm not a total ditz, even if I am almost older than dirt. I've been playing computer games since the 1970s. I am also familiar with science-fictional conventions and all, having read a lot of s-f in my lifetime.

When I started the game, I saw nothing about what controls do what. I found a planet. I poked around a bit. I found a base thingy and activated it, almost by accident. I have no clue what else to do with it, or how to do it. I'm lost.

I'm playing NMS on the XBox. Is it easier to play on the PC, such as on Steam?

Is there a tutorial? I've seen that there are videos on YouTube and all that, but I don't learn well that way. Being from the Time Before Computers, I learn best with written material that I can refer to many times, while I'm in the middle of the game.

Is there a manual somewhere that I could buy? (Psssst. Games used to come on disks, in boxes, with real printed manuals that were so complete they answered almost any question a player could have. How I miss those days!)

I'd appreciate any help y'all could offer. My daughter has also praised this group for being friendly and helpful.

How to claim base in expeditions? [Question]

Hello, it's my first time playing an expedition and I wanted to place the base computer at the place where I spawn but I cannot claim the base. It says that a base has already been claimed and I need to find a different place. Is that supposed to be like that? I don't really want to move too far away from my ship, since it's not repaired yet.

Honestly, I love the writing style of this game. Are there any works with a similar prose I can follow? [Question]

No Man’s Sky has dialogue that’s unique compared to most games. I’m a sucker for writing and the conversations and interactions I have with certain creatures are written in such a beautifully and intimate way.

I remember talking to my overseer and they delve into a feeling about how no one knows what contract they’ve agreed to yet they are here to tell me how to expand my base. They talk about the Korvax and their philosophies but it’s all still shrouded in a mystery I have yet to uncover. They have a mysterious yet charming aura about them that I can’t shake.

I also enjoy any conversations I have with travelers aboard space stations.

Expeditions Etiquette [Discussion]

I'm seeing lots of people finishing the Expedition, or at least fixing their ship.

One difficulty later players will have will be finding space to but a base down. I would like to suggest that as a courtesy to these players, we delete our starter bases once we are off planet. Every little helps.

Should I trade in my S Class Freighter for an A Class? [Question]

I've got a pretty bad S class freighter, it's pretty ugly, only got 19 slots and low tech space and I've just found a huge black and white ship that's A class has 33 storage and 9 tech, better fleet coordination (26.5), but 25 less hyperdrive range. What does the S class status mean?

"Frontiers Release" aka "Mass Beta Test" [Discussion]

HG have been lauded for releasing free content. Truth is this release has been so bug ridden we've all been duped into providing mass testing time for nothing. In RL I'd charge a significant rate per hour for testing software so considering I've put in at least 10 hours (prob more) fighting the Settlements nonsense and other stuff not working as it should, then this has been the most expensive DLC I've ever downloaded by at least a factor of 10.

Ok this is a mini-rant and I'm seriously pissed off, but I think HG have lost a lot of credability with this release and certainly on my part, all good will.

So, I know that doing the expedition on a new save you can have the rewards on any save.

But what happens at the end of the 6 weeks with the ship and multitool? Do you get to keep them? Am I best off doing the expedition on my existing save?

A bit buggy or glitchy. [Discussion]

It has been more than a year since I played the game so I don't know what's happening in the game. Yesterday the game updated to Frontiers update(I think). After updating when I opened it, the first issue was the controller was not working, I closed and opened the game again now the controller works. Settlement questions [Question]

Im fighting through the bugs to try and get a settlement on the perfect planet. I found a nice tropical planet but cant get a settlement to spawn on it. Ive reloaded and tried enough to get the settlement on every other planet in the system except the one i want.

Are there certains planets like tropical that settlements wont spawn on? Has anyone found a decent way to get a settlement on a planet you want?

Possible Bug? [Question]

Sometimes when i get to choose the next building Option, i think i am running into a bug or i am missing something. For example: i want to buid a house, the game is telling me to go to the building place. But instead the waypoint is on the centre of the village (the spear) when i go the intended building place i can't to anything there. The only thing i can do from the centre is the village overview. When i choose the other building option, it works without a problem.

Build my first Lakeside Resort- Wellness&Spa with Mountain View, Lakeside terrace and underwater scenery [Build]

With the new update i wanted to build something massive and i chose Beaumonde in Eissentam. (coordinates in last picture)

First of all, i bought the game with MS-Store and 6 days after the frontier-update, the store hasnt updatet it, as well as all other updates i have to deinstall and reinstall it.. It really s...

The new update compelled me to build nice new buildings and i wanted a nice planet to build my prime base. So i went to watch UAS Youtube video and went to Beaumonde.

Somehow, the lightness is way darker and a little bit blurrier as in videos as well the darkness in built room is crazy. No matter what light you build, nothing helps. only these lightflowers. It is superdark. I hope they fix it.

Building itself needs many improvements as well. As soon as you want to build more levels with stairs, either the stairs wont snap, or the tiles on it, or the sidewall on it. You can´t switch Stairwalls (the diagonal ones) so that you could close only the upper side of a stair and so on.

But anyway, i love building my base with such a nice scenery. Have fun out there

is the sound design of this game is awful or do I have something wrong? [Question]

I'm a new player, have a few hours in. But I noticed that the game has a lot of static noises and like some noises like the laser beams and ships are excessively loud, so much so that after about 30 minutes of playing on my average price range headset I get a headache and pain in my ears. Has anyone experienced that? Ive tried tinkering with the sfx and music settings but it makes some noises very low and other noises normal. Overall somethings just not right about the audio, if anyone has some advice would be greatly appreciated.

expedition base building issues [Question]

sorry for the dumb question (this is my first expedition).

Someone has already built a base around my crashed space ship adn its left me seemingly unable to complete the expedition challenge. i only have edit permission to place a base down near my spaceship, anywhere else (up to 300u in the cardinal directions) and it says no edit permission to place the base computer, but if i place it down where i can then i can't claim it as my base because its too close to someone elses base.

can anyone help point me in the right direction? (and sorry if this is a dumb question, i'm at a loss of what i can do).

Help regarding expeditions for a returner [Question]

Hello,

it's being a long time since I played NMS and just returned. Must be at the beginnung of last year when I looked into the game and then even just played a few hours.

I saw there are now expeditions and started the EXP3. I even finished Phase 2, some tasks from 3 and 4 also.

For Phase 1, I'm missing the "Safe Heaven" part. I'm sure I'm missing someting. There are mostly other bases around me and one holographic communication tower. While this one is preventing me regarding damage from the storm, it is not triggering. So I assume there need to be other buildings I need to visit.

When looking around, visually and with the scanner, there are no other NPC buildings around. THere is a player settlement in 15 hours walking time from my position.

I tried to walk around 30 mins in 4 different directions but it's not helping that the game crashes often when saving, even with multiplayer off.

I take any advice. The expeditions look like fun.

Am I just unlucky? Or blind? Or both?

Gravitino balls missing, expedition 3 [Question]

Sooo, I think I'm screwed, last night I got 5 gravitino balls for completing a milestone, went back, put them into the bit of the ship that needed repairing and today when I've come on I've noticed it's back to being unrepaired and I only have 2 gravitino balls.

Are there any gravitino balls on this planet? If not I think I may be screwed xD

Don't compare Overwatch and NMS [Discussion]

There have numerous posts across subs about how No Man's Sky currently has more Twitch viewers than Overwatch. Although I agree this is a great sign of the game's resurgence, it is naive and unfair to say that No Man's Sky is 'better' or more 'popular'.

There are many other factors to these numbers like Frontiers Update, Expedition 3 and Twitch Drops. In comparison, Overwatch is at a maintenance mode with the upcoming release of Overwatch. This is simply an unfair comparison considering the circumstances.

I love this community and I don't want people to start wars with other subs. Let's continue to love our respective games and be civil. Yes, other subs and communities may be toxic but we shouldn't let that sway our actions.

I swear this game goes out of its way to be irritating as hell. POWER HOTSPOT WHERE ARE YOU?! [Question]

I'm doing a Quicksilver mission and it's one where you have to survey a planet. Christ, I'll never do one of these shits again. After pulling my hair out searching for tiny rocks and plants to scan for an hour, now I'm stuck trying to find a power hotspot. The other two hotspots were easy, but WHERE THE FUCK IS THE POWER HOTSPOT?

Seriously, is there a trick to this? I've been taking off and landing all over the planet scanning for this fucking hotspot, but no god damn luck. I've already been looking for this shit for 45 minutes, but still nothing. Fuck this fucking game. Now I remember why I quit.

So this game and KSP share the same phenomenon, it happens when you enter and exit the atmosphere, it’s like the axis of your craft shifts as there is no axis in space, you just are, then when you reenter your axis shifts into polarity in conjunction of the planet.

Unit farming methods [Question]

As the title says. I'm looking for methods of farming units.

I just finished nanite farming and have a long term solution involving my fungal farm and delicious vegetable stew. So I'm left with a few thousands nanites with nothing to spend them on since I just bought all the upgrades and schematics at the research station. I don't want to spend them on S-class modules for b/a-class multitools and ships.

So now I'm looking for methods to increase my units by the 10s to 100s of millions.

I've had some decent luck with natural burial sites so far, with me either finding a cluster of 5 or more and/or finding bones worth over a million units. But bones take up individual spaces in my inventory, forcing me to make constant round trips to a nearby trade terminal or trader.

I also have 3 S-class scanners upping my scanning rewards to the the 10s of thousands per flora/fauna scanned, but I'd rather have that option as something more passive as I do other things rather than an active unit farming method.

And now that I've unlocked derelict freighter scanners, I have access to them, but they're either too expensive or there's too much of a gap in between when I can receive Helios's scanners for it to be a reliable method.

And finally, I have about 13 million units on me. But have yet to encounter an S-class starship. I don't even have one, so unless you also have a method to spawn S-class starships as well, it's not something I can do yet.

Expedition 3, Stage 1 - The quest for finding a settlement tells me to walk 14 hours [Question]

The portion of the quest where you use a Signal Booster to find a settlement just found a beacon about a 5 minute walk away from my ship. Activating that beacon found a Minor Settlement 14 hours away. Walking away and using the Signal Booster again just found a Drop Pod. Do I need to just keep wandering around until it actually finds something useful, or should I delete my save and start over?

Issue with getting the minotaur in expedition [Discussion]

I upgraded the ship to be able to fly, however, in so doing I think I broke the construction research unit because all it displays now is the basic base buildings, timber ,stone and alloy structures, and none of the other stuff

Has anyone else found a way to still get those blueprints some other way?

Expeditions [Discussion]

I have really been enjoying the expeditions. I feel they add a really cool dynamic to the overall experience of the game and add a decent challenge.

"Season" 3 seems to be more centered on spending a lot more time on the planet in the beginning which is a nice change.

I would like to see the expeditions replayed but with extra difficulty levels. Seeing as they last 6 weeks and we waited a really long time for #3. Maybe HG should add that in. Like a normal mode which unlocks stuff then a survival/permadeath mode afterwards; maybe with statue rewards.

What do you guys think of expeditions (the mode) and what minor changes would you enjoy in it?

The biggest surprise of Expedition 3 was how much I ended up relying on the Minotaur [Discussion]

Granted, that was only because I didn't have a working ship for most of it, but I really grew to appreciate its combination of never-expiring hazard protection and the ability to jetpack across/under large bodies of water. I've never had any real use for the thing before, and I imagine I probably never will again, but for a couple of days, my li'l exomech became my best friend. Glad for this truly new and different experience.

I wanna tell you my "survival story..." [Discussion]

I've played the game since launch, but been away for a while. I'd only done normal game mode so i figured I'd try something new.

Survival. Read the info before launching, didn't see anything about losing inventory or any but ok, NBD let's get this thing started.

Gad a pretty good stock of starting items only to die to toxicity on my starting planet. Lose all my stuff, ok NBD. Survival, right?

Get a better collection of stuff going, and keeping my more important items in my ship so it won't hurt so bad next time I die.

Find a better ship and buy it from someone at a station and ask it to transfer my stuff.

It didn't and so yeah, I'm a bit upset but I'll press on.

Exploring a planet with all new collection of important stuff and find a communication tower. Make it up the first ladder and fall off the second when the game doesn't line me up properly to climb. just walk right thru. NBD tho, don't take much fall damage.

Try this again only to fall again and this time I die. Ok. That's it. I'm done with Survival.

Say I find a non-capital freighter that I absolutely fall in love with and take the time to track down an S-rank version of it. This game made me sad first time since release :( [Discussion]

I have been playing NMS since release and I have never returned it back when it was possible because I really loved and played it since release.

I had small issues, minor graphichal glitches and some errors. Nothing broke my enjoyment.

However, today I started to play the new expedition on PS5. I worked very hard and spent hours for adjusting an island and building a base while collecting minerals under storm. I have suffered a lot. but build very nice and beatiful base...

The game crashed... I couldn't find courage to open the game and see if all of my hard work gone. I prepared a coffee and sit down, open the game and see only the base computer on a wild island without a single piece of work I made.

I am truly sad and lost all the desire to play the game. I wish and hope that none of you ever have the same sad experience ever.

Can't play expeditions? [Question]

I'm trying to start the new expedition but when I make a new save and click the expeditions option nothing happens. The button still shows the old expedition banner and says "Expedition Complete" in the top left. I haven't completed the previous two expeditions, but I did start the first one and deleted the save file later. Can anyone help me out here?

Ship trail graphical options [Suggestion]

I once made a post saying it would be cool to be able to turn off ship trails in options, but playing older versions of the game also made me realise it would be very cool to have the old shiptrail mechanic also as an option.

One notable difference is even wing thrusters have a trail, making every thruster have its own trail. This makes the trails far more realistic in my opinion. I also like the colour.

Expedition 3 has been my first experience piloting the Minotaur, and boy could it use some work [Suggestion]

I'll keep this short, but I think that with more folks getting access to the Minotaur, potentially for the first time, discovering it can't reverse, side step, or turn in place, and the arms don't actually seem to do anything, is a bit of a bummer. Primarily I'd like to see the addition of reverse, turning in place, and side step, but I won't say no to throwing hands with my giant robot.

Sprint would be cool too, but I get the sense it's supposed to feel slow and heavy, so I can live with just using the jetpack.

Tips for finding unscanned minerals? [Question]

Same as the title, any tips for finding unscanned minerals? I'm doing expedition 3 and have to scan 18 minerals on the planet, of which I've scanned 15. I've been searching a fair while now, across the land of the planet, underwater, and gone cave diving and I can't seem to find the last three minerals any where. I found a settlement, claimed it, built the office, managed some citizen decisions. The first structure it let me add on was a landing pad (would bring new settlers and help productivity) or something else (would incur debt and raise hapoiness). I went with the landing pad and completed it.

Am I now waiting for the overseer office to prompt me to build something else or am I needing to do something to make more structures?

Sudden Permadeath on the Anomaly? [Question]

So I just reached the Anomaly on my first ever Permadeath attempt, I was researching blueprints when I suddenly just... died. No idea if this was a bug or some form of griefing, but I'm super sad for losing 4 hours of tough work just to just suddenly and instantly be snuffed out in what I thought was a safe space.

Has this happened to anyone else? What would cause this?

Settlements are boring and pointless. [Suggestion]

Honestly, I've played Facebook "City Sim" games with more depth and interactivity.

They bring literally nothing to the table except a time and resource sink with no real return or fun.

Nothing you build can be interacted with or do anything unique, except the "Starports" which require you to pay materials to build a roof, but then just turn out to be a single "Alternative" landing pad that random ships can land on, and have no roof in sight

Nothing you build creates related items that can be harvested, or sold. Markets are completely empty and don't house traders. The hazard control building is literally just an empty 1x1 box that doesn't do anything or cause your settlement to act differently if their are hazards. Every building is filled with storage items and nothing else. No unique living quarters.

All the buildings are literally just made from the players base building kit and are incredibly uninspired and pop up with no structure or thought to pathways and lane flow. Citizens just amble around doing absolutely nothing except looking at data pads, hovering 4 feet above the places they try to sit, and have the least inspired Sims style mood indicators that also cant be changed or interacted with and have no actual meaningful purpose.

The output materials your base generate are randomized, un-customizable, and have nothing to do with the building you build or the citizens you hire and they accrue incredibly slowly at rates that make worthless for selling or building.

My base has a Jelly Donut Farm as a status modifier. Is there a farm? No. Is there a restaurant? No. Is there a chef npc somewhere I can talk to to buy donuts from? No. Does it switch Settlement production rewards to donuts for me to sell or eat? No.

Settlements are ugly, hollow, shells that sit around and wait for arbitrary decisions that cost you both resources and hours of your...

Crashes on Series X during expeditions [Bug]

Does anyone know if there is a patch or fix now or planned to fix the crashes for the Series X during the expeditions?

Let me quickly explain. I have a Series X and gigabit fiber internet but while I'm playing the expeditions I will get booted all the way back to the xbox dashboard (completely out of the game) when I go to save progress and because this happens when I attempt to save, it doesn't actually save and I end up losing any progress between then and the last time I successfully saved.

This isn't happening constantly but it's often enough to be extremely frustrating so I would appreciate any constructive feedback or advice about this.

Is Anyone Having Carbon Disappear When Fast Transferring to Storage Container Inventory? [Question]

I've noticed the past couple days that every time I try to transfer carbon or condensed carbon to my storage at my base, it immediately disappears entirely, cannot be recovered. I'm talking about 20,000+ units of condensed carbon alone. Is this a naturally occurring issue for this game? Is there a fix or workaround? I'm tired of having to now scrounge for carbon at every turn because I can't trust the game to not delete my carbon. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Fixing stuck settlement - a few questions before I try a workaround [Information]

Ok so several helpful people here have suggested that the only fix for a stuck second settlement that does not give you progress quests beyond building overseer building is to force reset the overall settler quest by jumping to another galaxy via the galactic core.

I already found a video on how to easily reach the core and make the jump.

But…

If I do this, and I have no intention to do the purge quest, will this still have a similar outcome re: my bases?

In short, what happens when you physically jump from Euclid to another galaxy? I know stuff breaks… but can you call in another ship and take off to the nearest space station? Can you teleport back? Or are your bases gone? (That would seriously such) bevayse if I understand correctly you should still have your settlement… and if the multi tool breaks I guess you can still repair it as well as the ship you used to jump with?

Change Language NMS PC [Question]

Hey people,

I apologise if this is a stupid question, but I wanted to change the language of my No Man's Sky game (PC, Steam) and couldn't find any way to do so. The default language for me is Dutch, and though I am Dutch, I prefer playing my games in English. I found something on the internet showing how to change the language on PS4 and such, but not for PC. If anybody could point me in the right direction, I'd much appreciate it.

I would really like to play the new expedition, but it says "downloading data" and has for the last 3 hours. Anybody know if a fix.

I would play the Frontiers content in the meantime, but that's broken too. I haven't had anything to do at my settlement for at least 20 hours.

End of Expedition - heartwarming finale - you guys are awesome! [Spoiler]

Up until the finale I was more like "meh" about the expedition experience but you guys made my day! All those wonderful messages and structures at 2nd rendevouz (that my game unloaded after 3 minutes unfortunately - but I could get a long enough glimpse) really made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. settlements not showing up [Bug]

as i heard, the game is supposed to send me a message from a vy'keen on the ship transmitter but it never did. i bought a map and when i used it, nothing happened because i never got the first transmission.

also the mission to hire a farmer is broken, it tells me the farmer is in the station and when i get in the station, it tells me the farmer is "off planet" and the opposite happens when i get out of the station. i tried talking to every lifeform in the station but none of them are a framer and the only system that shows there's a farmer there is this one.

Settlement Production rewards - list and a breakdown [Information]

From my observation and game data, observed in "3.65" experimental 09/09.

As nothing about below changed in current build, everything should be same for older versions bar some bugs.

 

Left product is set on first settlement discovery, based on the alien race, and that's it. No way to change after.

Right one is flexible, based on settlement rank. Seems to only change on settlement rank changes.

You may (untested) be able to reroll to another one by intentionally downgrading then upgrading your settlement, but no real reason to do that unless you're really lazy and your local economy sucks.

Poor (C?) Assorted list of 7 trade commodities which are all worth 1k units a piece

Neutral (B-A?) Assorted list of 7 trade commodities which are all worth 6k units a piece

Rich (S) Assorted list of 7 trade commodities which are all worth 15k units a piece

 

Then actual production amounts are based on max stack size of them. Like at initial stage, around 100-200 for 9999s, 10-20 for smaller stack ones.

And this is further modified by unknown amounts for having good/bad certain stats.

Production is better when you have better (numbers are contribution modifiers as higher this value = more this stat contributes to make production better): Population (100) > Happiness (30) = Productivity.

Production is worse when you have bad: Happiness.

 

After all this, my sped-up-thru-mods settlement which has 60(max is 200) ppl, 100%(max) happiness, 1m(max) productivity, now makes 28 salvage junks and Ohmic Gels each cycle (which didn't change - still 20h or whatever that was).

Total: 448k units each cycle....

Expedition 3: About the starship components... [Discussion]

So. I am assuming that this "pressurisation capsule" that we had to repair in our ships is just some McGuffin that, now that the expedition is over, serves no purpose other than to permanently consume a component slot in the ship. Which you can't get rid of.

The others seem potentially problematic when it comes to repairs. I did a test in a black hole (after dismantling the other upgrades first) and they weren't damaged, which is good, but I haven't tried a galaxy hop yet. Just curious if we'll need to be locating larval cores, storm crystals and gravatino balls every time a repair is needed.

If I keep this save--and I probably will, since it's handy to have another "normal" mode save for testing things--I'm probably going to scrap this ship just to prevent future headaches.

Still cannot make decisions for settlement [Bug]

Is anyone else having this problem? I didn't like my extremely nasty aggressive sentinel planet where my first settlement was, so I went and started another.

Once I claimed the Overseer position, there have been no decisions available. I have not been able to choose buildings, or anything. The only building I have made is my office. All the settlement does is accumulate debt and sometimes get attacked by sentinels.

Help - how do I fill the bait tank on an Automatic Feeder? [Question]

Has the functionality for the feeders changed due to the companions update? I used to use the Automatic Feeder and the Livestock Unit for Nanite Farming. Previously there was an option to fill the feeder with bait. I know that the companions update made changes to the way bait works and also the way that harvesting milk and other items work, but the item is still available in the game...

Does anyone know how to use this item now?

Best Power solutions for base? [Question]

I started building a base on my 'paradise planet' right by the waterfront. I need lots of electricity to power everything.

I've just unlocked the Survey Device for my multi tool and blueprints for Electromagnetic Generator... But there doesn't appear to be any hotspots nearby :(

Help request [Bug]

I have now finished the quest "Ghost in the machine". The problem is, that the part of finding a transmission tower somehow got skipped. I am unable to interact with the researcher and no way point is found except for one on the galaxy map. Rebuilding the terminal does not fix the issue. Maybe finding a tower manually might do the trick but I do not know how that is possible without flying for hours.

Please fix building! Give us the old build menu back as an option. [Suggestion]

For those of us who have advanced beyond basic builds, this new system is a disappointment. We can't rotate pieces in three dimensions and glitch building has been complicated immensely such as the adjacency glitch. Sure, we have free building, but that doesn't allow us to flip pieces over nor place them at angles, not like used to be able to.

Please fix or give us options to revert back.

Solved Crashed Freighter Bases Power Needs [Suggestion]

I know some of you have made bases within the wreckage of freighters, planetside.

Had a dream that you could repair the freighter engines and lay down heavy power lines and step down transformers in order to have unlimited power for a planetary base in it's husk. Could be an easy and fun little addition to the game!

Maybe also make that the only way to power the antimatter converter and increase it's output, in order to make that building piece a little more viable before credits/material storage becomes maxed out?

Amy tweaks to help stuttering? [Question]

I have an aging cpu (i5-6500)) and the stuttering can get annoying when exploring, mostly when flying around a planet or moving around to fast but other than that I get a very acceptable fps. Is there anything I can tweak to help with this? Mods, cfg files or otherwise.

The game is already installed on an SSD so I don't know what else to do. It's not bad enough to stop me from playing until I upgrade but that'll probably be a while for me since most everything else runs acceptable that I play. Thanks.

HELP: Can't build a base computer in Expedition 3 [Question]

So when I try to place a base computer in Expedition 3 I can only do so in the area immediately surrounding my and my GF's ships (we are playing multiplayer). Anywhere else the base computer turns red and says I can't place it there. The problem is, when I do place it in the green zone and try to claim the area, I am told that there is already a claim present. As far as I can tell there are no other players/base computers nearby.

Can’t build Base Computer Expeditions/Cartograohers? [Question]

Not sure if it’s a bug, or I’m just an idiot, or it’s a combo of the two but I’ve walked and driven all over a good distance multiple directions and I can’t find a spot that allows me to plant the BC for the next step in the phase I’m on.

Yet I did randomly end up in a Minotaur off of someone else’s little hub hence giving me that later phase reward early but the base computer is a wall atm. I can’t even drop a refiner or quick save device no matter how “isolated” from other players bases I appear to be.

Are rifle MTs viable? [Question]

Noob here (week two). I'm looking to save up for a 24-slot S class MT, and aesthetically I love how the rifles look but don't love the alien guns. Anyone out there happy with a rifle class MT as their jack of all trades, or are the low mining and scanning scores noticeable and I should just go for alien?

Expedition 3 and Aronium...??? [Question]

So how am I supposed to get the Aronium I need to fix my ship? The Milestones don't reward the blueprint, as far as I can tell. You can't find it in the environment, you can't craft it without a blueprint, you could be many hours away from a manufacturing facility without a working ship, exocraft or no exocraft (All I get from planetary charts is an observatory that is 5 HOURS AWAY AT MAX SPEED...), and this seems like a complete oversight, or I am missing something big...

I already got through the Minotaur bug, just by searching the internet and finding out you actually complete that milestone by summoning a completely different exocraft. THEN I run into this. Have the devs actually even played this expansion? I'm starting to think not....

Settlement + base building gone [Bug]

I just updated to 3.65 on Xbox S after building roads, buildings, and deco in settlement (using an adjacent base 300u away and extending the radius). Just went to add some more stuff...nope. Everything is red with 'cannot place.'

I tried to redo the radius at the base by building a wall every 100u or so. It went red as soon as I got to about 250-300u toward the settlement.

I tried to put a base on the opposite side of the settlement and do the same radius extend trick. Nope. Can't build in the settlement anymore. I was able to delete some things using the build menu, but that's it.

Anyone else experiencing this????

I was really enjoying adding to the settlement. If this got patched out, I think I'm gonna uninstall. This update has been a shit show.

Seeking Helpful Tips/Info for Expedition 3 [Question]

Hello hello everyone,

I recently started playing through expedition 3 last night, and I ran into some questions:

Is there something I am missing, or does Hello Games really expect me to walk 4 hours to the nearest structure and back...likely to not even be able to secure any of the parts necessary to fix my ship? (e.g., the gold computer part)

Is the expedition supposed to be themed around the new update? I thought we were supposed to be engulfed in the new settlement stuff, but it seems each challenge's phase revolves around fixing the ship instead.

Do the "phases" really matter? I noticed I am completing phase 2-4 stuff when I have not finished completing the phase 1 tasks.

Any other tips/suggestions would be welcome and requested. Thank you. :)

Nanite farming [Question]

i have managed to setup a salt/activated indium/oxygen/gold/silver mine. I use the salt and oxygen for chlorine and activated indium for units. Then use the gold and silver to make platinum and convert those to nanites.

is there more efficient way to accumulate nanites? or a more efficient way to obtain platinum?

Stuck across the galaxy in my friends world? [Question]

My friend just got nms, we started playing in his world (with me on a 5 hour save) I wanted to grab something from my base so i called my freighter and took the freighter teleporter to my base thinking I could just teleport back. That is not the case. Now I'm stuck in my friends world on my planet. Am I just going to have to wait until they build their own teleporter at their base? Any time I load into their world, it loads me at my base.

Here's some good lesser known tips for new (and old) players that the game doesn't explain well. [Information]

With Frontiers and the sale, there's probably a lot of new players coming to the game so I wanted to put together a list of some lesser known tips and tricks. Some of these may already be well known but a lot of them are either things that took me a long time to find out about, or things I see people asking about a lot. Some of these are probably gonna be useful to experienced players too. I'll add more things to this thread over time.

Reply with your own tips and I'll add some good ones to this post too!

The mining laser is faster the more it heats up. When you use the mining laser, the heat bar in the corner goes up and eventually the laser changes colour. For maximum efficiency, try to keep the heat bar almost full without overheating it. It will mine twice as fast this way.

The melee jetpack boost. This one's been around since the game first came out so it's probably more known but it may be worth mentioning for newer players. When you're on the ground, if you melee and then immediately hold jump/jetpack, you get a significant forwards boost. This is probably the fastest way to move around without vehicles and it doesn't require any upgrades.

You can refine oxygen to get carbon. By around mid to late game, you reach a point where you have so much money that you can bulk buy almost any of the main resources from trade terminals instead of having to mine or farm them. The one exception is carbon, which as far as I can tell never appears in trade terminals. However, you can just bulk buy oxygen and refine it into carbon.

Use the smallest terrain manipulator size for maximum resources. The number of resources you get from mining things with a terrain manipulator seems to be more based on time spent mining rather than the actual volume you mined. So by changing the size to the smallest, you can get...

PS5 Overheating in Nexus: Anyone else getting this? [Question]

Hello Fellow Travelers, I'm loving this update so much!

I wanted to ask if anyone else with a PS5 is getting an error msg that their system is overheating and/or actually overheating and shutting off.

For me, it happens when I have just landed in the Space Anomaly. Usually by the time I walk up to the Quicksilver vendor. If I don't pause to let it stop rendering then my whole system will shut down (so I know it must actually be too hot).

My PS5 is no-disc and was a pre-order. I don't play too many actual PS5 games but I play a lot of AAA ps4 games like God of War and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. It's never EVER before overheated. In fact I don't know if I've ever heard the fan come on till playing the Frontiers Update of NMS.

I did remove the face plates and do a dust cleaning but it didn't look to bad in the first place. I also reduced my FOV. Some combination of those seems to have helped a bit but it still feels scary when I land in the Nexus.

I feel like NMS shouldn't be overheating my PS5 at all but what do I know? I'm just scared there's something wrong my console and I'm close to the one year warranty time so I'd have to get it checked out soon. :-/

It would be nice if there was a way to choose which control scheme we want or customise our own for vehicles.

If we could use the standard driving controls for the most part, i.e RT for acceleration, LT for brake etc., Exocraft would be so much more fun.

This applies even moreso to FP camera.

For first person I was thinking the same standard driving controls but have a button that switches the mode to a turret view to more easily use the weapons and laser. Much like how the vehicle works in Elite: Dangerous.

You would have much more control in FP driving and I think it will be more enjoyable overall.

So does the Biological Horror companion you get from completing Expedition 3 actually attack anything? It says it’s Aggressiveness is max, but it can’t wear accessories and thus can’t get lasers, so can it actually do anything other than look cool? Just curious.

Community Expedition is terrible and full of people with no manners. [Discussion]

So this is the first Expedition I have been involved in and I was enjoying it quite a bit. I’ve spent about 4 hours and I’m almost done with Phase 3. I just deleted my save though and I won’t be doing this again. After a few hours of playing some other player showed up and built a base right on top of mine. I used a bunch of lights and blocked off his entrances and he eventually disassembled everything and went elsewhere. About 20 minutes later someone else shows up and tries to kill me, and then starts building some random crap out into the water and then leaves it. It looks like shit. I logged off and then today I log in just to see that someone had yet again built in my base. This time is was a huge base with multiple parts scattered all around. I literally cannot expand my base or build anything else. This is ridiculous and rude. I will not be participating again.

Anybody else find it strange that we teleport to star systems with multiple planets, but then once you're there, there's no star?

In the mood for a bit of runaway mould farming farming am just curious if there are any special criteria for finding them, like environment type. I'm currently on a very toxic planet (it's extreme even without the storms, and always tornadoes when there is a storm. Would I be able to find them here? Larval core help [Question]

I am working my way through the expedition, and have made some pretty decent progress. But now I'm to a point where I can't do much else without finishing the repair on my warp drive. The only item I need to get to finish it is the larval core. Problem is that I cannot find then anywhere. I have checked on the starting planet, as well as the other planets in the system. I have spent hours today just searching everywhere for them, it is getting frustrating. So I would greatly appreciate some tips on how/where to find them. Thank you in advance.

The Official controller configuration with a PlayStation 4 controller on Steam is terribly broken [Bug]

Especially with NMS: Frontiers, where the configuration has some unmapped functions (like you can't split stacks, etc).

I reported the issue to Hello Games, and in the meantime I launched my PS4 copy, checked each configuration screens and rebuilt the same controls into Steam's controller configuration menu.

Expeditions 3 HUGE bug 🐛 [Bug]

Please don't read this post only if you want to glitch up to the space anomaly with the broken ship.

So I played on my main profile, did my daily quicksilver mission. When I completed the mission I used the space anomaly teleport to travel to my base. You will have an option in the quick menu to teleport back to the anomaly.

In the main menu started the expeditions. And the teleport back to the space anomaly was still active. So I teleported into the anomaly with my broken Expeditions space ship. I found a player who helped me fix my ship and made me rich (thank you "the Doomed") I skipped a lot of milestones in few minutes.

Inventory full when resuming game inside a settlement? [Question]

I've claimed a basic settlement and am slowly adding buildings. No problems there. I placed a save point next to the overseer's office, and save my game there each day. When I resume the next day, I always see an "inventory full" message as soon as the game starts up.

I've made room for 10 or 12 empty slots in my main exosuit inventory. Is it possible that my settlement is generating so many items for me overnight that I need to make more room? Wouldn't I see at least some of the items appear in the free slots if that were the case?

I've searched both reddit and a few NMS websites for notes on this particular issue, but haven't found any answers.

Why can't I place an access ramp? [Question]

I build the same starting structure every new game I start.

I have a bunch of glass cubes with a holo door connected at the entrance.

I'm trying to attach an access ramp to the door (the glass cube is slightly elevated), but the ramp won't connect.

Have they changed the rules in this last update or something?

Cannot complete Power Surplus in Phase 3? [Question]

Requirement is simply 'generate 150 power'. I have: 3 solar panels, two biofuel reactors, two electromagnetic generators or whatever they are, all hooked up to their own battery and for the past day it just says I'm at 50/150 power generated. What am I missing?

Multi tool completely reset, what do I do? [Bug]

My multi tool completely reset itself, it's now grade C with 0 slots in it. I read this in the 3.63 patch notes

Added a recovery for players who lost their primary Multi-Tool after accepting a blank tool from an upgrade/purchase UI. Note: the appearance of this erroneous UI screen was fixed in Patch 3.62.

But I can't find out how to recover my old multi tool? I've just using a previous save, and I've tried going to the multi tool upgrade console but there's nothing there that will recover it.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

XGP PC Bas Performance [Bug]

Are there any settlements on swamp planets? [Question]

My favorite base is on a murky planet, and I'd like a settlement there as well. It's not a particularly noteworthy planet - just a cozy swamp with bioluminescent mushrooms and a bunch of lakes, and an ocean - but it's home in the Hub. I haven't been able to get the settlement chart to find anything on it. I've reloaded around a dozen times. Once it found a settlement on another planet in the system, but all the other times it just says "locational interference" and fails. Then when I keep trying, it keeps saying it, though sometimes it'll eat the chart with no results.

Do settlements not spawn on swamp planets? If they do, what am I doing wrong? Why isn't it consistently finding a settlement anyway? One obviously exists in the system from the one time I got a positive result, but I'm at a loss here.

Underground / Mountainside Building [Question]

Hey guys,

This base building overhaul has inspired me, and I'm planning a cliff-side base right beside my settlement. I've got some ideas I'm excited about, but before I get too ahead of myself I need to ask: How much excavation can you do for a base build?

I wanted to do an underground parking garage for all wheeled exocraft, with a small area behind that with base teleporters and storage containers to unload into. In the back of the first floor I wanted a mechanical room for batteries and bio reactors (as backup generators). That would be cut into the side of the cliff. Not sure if that's feasible. And I'm at work for another few hours, so I can't just go try it. Thoughts?

For any who are interested, this will be a high-rise complex. Each specialist will get their own floor with their console and adjacent living space. Each floor will have "UP" and "DOWN" base teleporters to get between floors. I want to put an open platform hanging off the side of each floor so you can directly jetpack to the floor you want as well. The 2nd floor will have a restaurant / cafe with a patio that overhangs the front of the building. The top floor will be the agricultural specialist and above that on the roof I'll have my farm space, with landing pads off the right and left sides. If I have some free space I'll do up a museum to display exotic glitch decorations.

Electrical Wiring in Expefition 3 on PS4 [Question]

I have run through most of the expedition on PC, I am no in the early stages on PS4. I can't seem to find the milestone that unlocks wires. I have the bio fuel reactor but I cannot connect them to complete the Power Surplus milestone. I thought I would have received wires when I completed Matter Transport as it provided power generation blueprints as a reward.

My dumb list of requests for NMS [Suggestion]

Some people want overhauls to different game systems and all that jazz. I have been making a list of useless things that I would like in the game. In no particular order: A ball the player can push around. Ideally just free of limitations but I am ok with it being limited to the base.  That way I can set up a golf course or a soccer field. Buildable counter screen display or Something that can display numbers. Low level clouds moving through the environment in certain planets. Creatures that live in the trees or large plant life. Crouching. Flammable buildings. A sentinel strike or misplaced shot can set them on fire. The ability to lie down in those beds you find sometimes. The ability to carry small creatures with my hands.

Possible fix for PC controller users (STEAM) [Information]

Had an issue in NMS where I was unable to use my controller (DS4) in build mode, this fix might help if you are experiencing similar problems.

here's what I did:

run steam

unplug controller

go to Steam Big Picture mode

click on settings cog

click on controller setting

un-tick all controllers in list

turn off steam and PC (you may not have to turn off PC)

restart PC

open steam

plug in controller.

Playing for first time after update. Building Help [Question]

Do building sides, floors, etc not click together anymore? It it so hard to replace my walls with the stone ( I like the stone) is so difficult to place now it seems. Everything seems a little off and not straight. Can I get back the clock together nature when building??

Require assistance with Awakenings mission.. [Question]

So.. I just got to the part of the mission where its telling me to "Follow Starship Automatic guidance", and I've gotten to the fuel source but... I think I am bugged or something because when I get to the location there is just an indestructible volcano in it's place.. I watch a video on youtube and there was a shrine or something that the guy went to which leads me to believe my place is bugged inside of this thing.. Please tell me I am wrong, I am completely new to this game, still just trying to be able to make a storage container, and I am unsure what to do as of now..

Fixing idle settlement in the favorite planet (backtrack) [Workaround]

I had many problems with my settlements since the beginning (dead planet, idle settlement, disappeared settlement into a mountain on my favorite planet and again an other idle settlement), so I have found a solution that worked for me to restart the original mission and getting anyway the first settlement working on my favorite planet. You have to backtrack losing your progress after Frontiers release. For what I have seen during this process, the mission targets a random settlement in the current system or in the closest system to your position ONCE you accept the radio message, so if you keep it waiting you are safe to change system or galaxy. Anyway you are going to use a teleporter or a portal to reach your favorite planet probably.

steps: in case you need a portal, find the coordinates of your favorite planet for your settlement first of all restore the saved backup pre-frontier from the directory 'strbackup' close to your recent save files (do a backup of the new ones for safety) overwrite the saves with the old files load the game and the old save file if you are able to use a teleporter or a portal from your current position to reach your destination, do it without leaving the planet. Otherwise leave using your ship WITHOUT answering to the mission radio message once you have reached your favorite planet, make a save point (both manual and automatic saves should work equally) if you have the radio message in hold, enter the ship and receive it. This will target to a random planet in the current system or a close one. (alternative to 7) leave the planet before receiving the message if you get an off-planet target consistently if it's the right planet continue the mission normally and the settlement should work without any issue. Otherwise repeat point 7 (or 8)

No Man's Sky has never been so unstable [Discussion]

Not gonna be too dramatic since these guys have been giving us free updates for years, but the game crashes on me every 20-30 minutes. I've been sticking with it for days because I really wanna play, but I just switched it off and taking a break for a while. I got update 3.65 last night and if anything, the game got worse than before. It crashes at completely random times frequently. I'm playing on PS4, I'm wondering if it's this bad for everyone.

Time to take a very long break. [Discussion]

I play Permadeath almost exclusively, aside from expeditions. I know the risk you take, and I've lost several toons doing stupid things (got hit by lightning in my previous game because I was greedy.

But this time, I had 128 hours into my character, and died because of a glitch while landing on my freighter. My ship suddenly popped into the interior or the freighter, and just bounced itself around until it was destroyed, and all my work with it. There was not a thing I could do to stop it.

I don't mind dying from my own stupidity, but this put me over the edge. (And yes, I know how to cheat and keep a backup, but what's the point of doing PD if you can game the system?)

I'm sure I'll be down voted, because nobody likes a GBCW rant, but so be it. I needed to get this off my chest. Have fun, folks.

Freighter Cross Junction room change? [Discussion]

I just came back to no man's sky after ages, and somethings changed with the cross junction bit of room on the freighters, you used to be able to put multiple cross junction pieces together and you would get what was essentially a big open area with a round column in the middle, I used this on my freighter.

Now coming back it's all changed and there's 4 doorways around where the column used to be, this is super annoying, and I hate the way it looks. On top of this all my underwater bases are now literally underwater, as in they're acting like they're filled with water, so they're fucked. This has really put me off bothering to come back.

Eurgh I used to love this bit on my freighter because it looks like an actual alien spaceship and now it's gross.

Game crashing quite a lot on ps4 [Bug]

Does any one have the same problem? I even play offline(since my stupid ISP disabled the ability to play crossplay or even on the same platform with any other one outside the country) and the game constantly crashes maybe once or twice a day and there lots of stutters or fps drops. Any help? Also I bought it digitally so CD isn't a problem.

Settlement charts not working [Question]

I am desperate. I spent days looking for a perfect planet to have my settlement. I finally found one, a beautiful lush planet in an INHABITED system. When I use my chart, it just disappears and nothing happens? Game will not boot help if you can [Bug]

I have contacted helpdesk but am also throwing this out here to see if someone can help me,

I have installed no man's sky from steam and when I hit play it displays the attached picture.

Things I have already tried to fix this: removed steam from beta version and restarted updated my drivers in properties of game boot set to windowed mode ( some steam users report that as fixing the problem installed the XBOX Games Pass version (same issue so I'd rather just get the steam version working) set to run as administrator on every boot run in compatibility mode No man's Sky is set to be allowed through my firewall I have ran compatibility troubleshooter no dice Die inside

I can't seem to find the first Rendevouz point. My Galaxy Map shows the Rendevouz icon on the first system. That doesnt make any sense, because it says i should jump systems. I did that for a while but nothing shows up. I did all other stuff in 4 hours and i am already a hour trying to get this one.

Too Many Minotaurs [Question]

Hey y’all, giving a go at the expedition and I seem to be stuck. I’m at the end of phase 2 where I have to place a Minotaur to finish the phase. I have all mats and the blueprint is known. Every time I try to place it, I get a message that says something along the lines of “only 5 minotaurs allowed per planet”. I spent more than an hour finding a spot that I could place a base because the rest of the land has been claimed. I tried turning off multiplayer and even my entire network to no avail. Is there a way around this? I can’t leave the planet yet to place it somewhere else because I can’t fix the ship until I do this.

Settlement initial quest not starting [Question]

Hey guys, I'm sure this has already been asked a hundred times, but I am stumped. Every resource I've read says all you need to do is fly into space and you should get a distress call.

I am back on the game after a short absence, and have moved from xbox to PC on game pass. Is it possible my game hasn't updated? I have the new splash screen with the two helmeted guys and an alien, but I don't even see an option to buy settlement charts at the navigator.

low flight expedition reward = low effort reward idea. [Discussion]

This isn't the only one that's a low effort idea.

Mining a hole in the ground. Using your jetpack. Shelter from a storm. Walk with your legs.

Most of these so called challenges are not challenging in any way.

The only challenging part of the expedition is trying to find the resources to repair your ship. And that's only because half the resources are impossible to find and you have to craft them rather than gather them.

I feel this expedition 3 as a whole was very low effort in it's thought process.

Did someone actually play out the expedition and think. Yeah that's fun and has an element of challenge to each reward.

This is the so called 5th anniversary year of the game that has been sort of hyped up. But what I'm getting is a drab lifeless frontiers update and a buggy broken expedition 3 update.

Both of which don't feel in any way better than previous updates from previous years.

Next, beyond and origins were far superior in many ways. Fact!

This year's is rather forgettable.

Mods please create a feature request/suggestion thread [Suggestion]

I stopped playing a while after Next and just watched the trailers for the updates, not really seeing anything engaging enough to draw me back.

What I'd love to see in the future and before Starfield if possible;

Npc combat, rather than wandering from point A to B with no objective I'd love to see npc's wandering, scanning, building maybe, fighting other npc's, and be able to travel with them and help them with objectives or go straight up pirate and kill them and take their loot.

Being able to take part in the faction wars between the species and choose which faction to side with in any given system, engaging in space combat, destroying enemy freighters to planetary combat in which you raid/destroy enemy facilities outposts to tilt the scales in that system toward and gain unique rewards and better trading/bartering prices for certain resources depending on which faction you back.

Creature Combat, not just the creature swinging its head and getting knocked back a few feet. The hypnotising eyes in the oceans is the only real step in that direction so far and they haven't done anything since. What about creatures that can swarm you (not the monstrosities) and climb over you damaging your suit/ship/health. The whip plants or new venus fly trap type plants/creatures could latch onto you and try to drag you towards them/underground. Flying animals could pick you up and try to carry you off.

They could involve a button mashing system like the hypnotising eyes, which while simple adds depth to the interaction between animals.

Real danger to weather systems, planetary hazards like tar pits, quick sand, acid pools/geysers etc... That would tie into suit maintenance, if you're overheated/toxified/frozen etc... Your suit systems like helmet and jetpack could break, freeze, melt, grounding you and forcing you to explore more of the planet to...

Regarding negativity towards Frontiers [Discussion]

I understand the complaints that it's shallow and doesn't add much to the game. I agree that the update wasn't ass massive as we'd hope. I also get there's a lot of brand new players that aren't used to the community. But seeing all these hate posts really bums me out. If anything this will be like the no Man's sky launch over time Frontiers become more fleshed out and worthwhile. Also hello games is known to read this board and listen to their fans suggestions, so let them know what you would like to see in the game. This game is a out taking it slow, in both it's gameplay and it's evolution.

My Construction Research Unit changed and now I don't have access to Minotaur/refiner blueprints [Bug]

I'm playing the expedition and it was going well. Went away from my base so I could gather salvaged data... I come back and my Construction Research Unit no longer gives me the option to buy the blueprints for exocraft stuff, or any of the other fancy technology. What the hell has happened? This is all the technology blueprints I have access too now, the other pages are just a bunch of walls.

Please don't tell me I've broken my save somehow and I'm going to have to start over...

How do I delete a base part? [Question]

This question has been asked about 100 times. And yet im too stupid to do it. Im on PC. If I go into the base building menu (Y) I can press C to edit the base. I can also select a parts and move them around. But how the hell do I delete a part? Aparently its Ctrl or Alt but that doesnt do anything.

It says it is limited to 5 Minotaurs per planet. This is shit. I can't leave the planet yet (still lookin for Herox). Why did Hello Games put a limit for all the players in total?

Missing expedition 1 and 2 rewards. [Bug]

No longer have access to expedition one and two rewards after completing them both. Deleted my saves, but thought they would be account based rewards. Submitted a bug ticket, but not a priority so I don't know if I'll even get a response. Did I lose the rewards because I deleted the saves?

Weird Bug On No Man's Sky [Bug]

Hello Reddit,

I was playing with a friend while he was doing the alien ship mission (which I'm yet to do). He completed the mission and I got in trouble with some sentinels and I couldn't do much with no health and no launch fuel. My friend was the saviour and saved me, the weird thing happens here. We kill a few sentinels and hide in a base to which his game crashes. I go back to my base in my S class ship and to my surprise his alien ship is still there but I own it! He comes back on, fairly angry that I potentially stole his ship, but in reality, he still has his own alien ship. I log out and re-join him and I've lost my old S class ship and it's been replaced entirely by the alien ship but with the same contents of my old one. Do I have the rarest ship in the game now? Has anyone else seen this problem?

HELP! Can't Debrief Fleet [Bug]

Since the Frontiers update, i haven't been able to debrief two of my fleets. Well, I can debrief them but then can't move afterwards as in full stop. The game is still running, i hear ships entering and leaving the hangar and can access my inventory and the options menu but physical movement and looking is frozen.

Funnily enough, both the fleets i can't debrief properly i get special items from. I have saved and reloaded many times but have no idea what i can do so they're currently forever awaiting debrief.

Platform: PS4 NMS Version 3.65 (downloaded: 10 SEP 2021)

Any help would be greatly received.

I find the hub tower to become the overseer, but now what? I looked up some chappy guide and said I'd have to build an office with this cool-looking computer. I tried looking all over the place and found nothing. Looking at the settlement hub tower interface thing only gives me an overview of the settlement.

Certain colours no longer available when editing base parts?? Black/gold? [Question]

I’ve recently started playing again after a year gap and I’m expanding my old base, changing the colours of things-and I’ve noticed my old base was black with gold accents, it was a colour/material option you could choose and it looks great, but now I can’t seem to get that same black with gold accents?? The closest thing now is black with a yellow accent, and the only materials available are solid colour (almost looks matte?), worn and rusted. Can’t seem to find the metallic option, can’t see why they’d remove the colour/material choice?? I’ve now got half a base with the metallic black/gold and the other half matte black/yellow. Cheers for any help, kind of hoping it’s still an option but maybe you have to unlock it?!

Are we still supposed to change numthreadshigh/low? [Question]

Recall advice a little over a year ago on some websites was to alter these values for optimal performance. When I downloaded the most recent update I checked the settings and saw these values were now 8/8 for me. That’s definitely not what I had changed them to at one point. Are we still supposed to mess with those or have there been changes that what you stick in there doesn’t matter anymore (if it ever did)? Figured I would ask the brain trust here instead of tinkering and possibly getting a placebo effect. Thanks for any input. If it matters I am on a Ryzen 5 5600x and play in VR.

Swapped settlement, haven't gotten any decisions for 20h now. [Bug]

My first settlement was on a agressive sentinel planet, where the cold dmged my face, and storms would just rip it off. Got a new settlement in a desert planet that I'm enjoying the climate of. But haven't got any decisions after the overseer office build. Do I have to swap settlements again?

How to get the minotaur in the expedition [Question]

My construction research terminal only has the structures and wont open buildable tech (may be a bug?). I dont have access to the anomaly (can you even get the anomaly in expeditions?). The in game tips/hints only say go into the build menu which is useless because i dont have the recipe for the minotaur geobay. Just wondering if im missing something.

The Navigator doesnt let me select a mission, so I cannot send ships in expeditions.

Free freighter A class 32-8 [Question]

Hi guys! Back with yet another question.

I am working on getting the freighter from the defend the freighter quest. I keep reloading then warping to a solar system with a booming economy the best I have seen is an A class 32-8. I want an S class so I can warp around with it easier.

Is an A class 32-8 going to be the best I can get right now? Or will better ones show up if I keep reloading my save?

Also the freighter seems to always be the one everyone says looks like a fish. Shouldn't I see other ones? I don't really like that style. Lol

Expedition 3: Is my game unwinnably bugged or am I just missing something? [Question]

The milestone which involves repairing specific components in your ship don't seem to be doable for me. Nothing in my ship is broken, and the expedition started that way for me, with a 100% working ship. Is this normal? Is there some other ship I'm supposed to find and fix?

I have completed almost all of other other milestones (essentially any of them that don't require me to have a hyperdrive). Now I can't think of anything else I can do.

Mineral extractor expeditions. [Question]

Could someone please be a kind soul and talk me through the best way to set up mineral extractor to get this god awful thing over and done with?

I tried setting one up but it was c class and was only giving me 227 per hour, the problem was the set up with power fucked me up and every time I came back they were offline and nothing was stored.

I've played for years but never used the damn things!

I'm assuming I need an s class but is there something I can do to literally get this done with quick?

I've been trying for a week to get my Settlement out of debt, and every time I visit, it wants me to fetch 3 Aronium to finish construction on a spaceship landing pad.

I provide the three Aronium, wait like a day, come back, and it then wants...three more Aronium. And another day to piss around with it.

I have done this at least five times already. Is my file glitched, or what? With the money I spent acquiring materials or Aronium directly, I could've paid off the settlement's debt myself by now!

Friends can't join my game [Question]

So here's what is going on. My friend just started playing, and he wanted to play together so I can help him out with some stuff, and just goof off. At first when I went to enable multiplayer, i got a warning that said "no connection to multiplayer services". I fixed that issue, and now everything I send him an invite he accepts it, but nothing happens. The invitatio just dissappears. I sent him an invite on xbox (that is what we are playing on) and still nothing happens. I still says it connects to multiplayer cross-play, so the internet is still working. Is there something I am missing? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

That's it?

No fixes for the broken expedition crashing every 10-15 minutes, or half the time that you save?

I understand people were frustrated with the settlement stuff, but shouldn't expeditions be kind of a priority since they are a timed event? What about floors not properly placing on ground, or some walls being able to be walked through, and providing protection from elements, then? Some of the building pieces don't even work.

Not complaining about them pushing out patches, but they were putting big ones out daily, I figured they were holding of a few days to release a big one before the weekend fixing all the issues, but the patch notes had ONE item, and no the other stuff won't (MAYBE) be fixed until next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I just don't get why they even released these updates yet when they were so broken. They should have just delayed the release until it was ready, so people could still have a stable game in the meantime while we waited.

"A leap in the dark" mission [Question]

Am I missing something here or is it just bugging out again? The mission informs me to "trace the signal", but the map displays no quest marker. All I get is a green path of jumps that leads nowhere and appears to extend when I get closer to the end.

I've got a 60% upgraded Warp drive and I've already exhausted 3 entire fuel storages following this path. I've gotten 4 stars worth of milestones just continueing in the proposed direction. I'm starting to feel something is not right. Am I really suppose to jump 20-30 times for this quest?

Should I switch from Survival to Normal? ~Storage Issues~ [Question]

I haven't played NMS a whole lot, my only other big time sink being a 40 hour save I dont remember much of, and that was a couple years ago.

Started playing again with the settlement update and currently have 41 hours on my Survival save.

Have done the bulk or all of the main story line, with my current objective being to path towards the galactic center of the universe. I feel like I'm at the point where I just want to play the game, explore, build, and not worry about main quests anymore.

I've got 6 of the 10 storage containers built, and filled with resources already and I've not even gone to or seen any systems that require the indium or emeril drives. Stack size in the containers is 1000 for resources, and 20-100 or so for others. I've not even played with cooking/breeding/farming yet and of the small gathering ive done, its already eaten 2 containers.

I feel like playing on survival now has nothing to do with difficulty and everything to do with managing the small amounts of resources you get to keep at any one time.

Are there more storage containers I can unlock? Is there a way to build an infinite amount? Am I just dumb and dont realize I have more than 10?

Just got killed by a Rock Golem on my first try [Discussion]

( I pirated the game before. After playing for endless hours, I bought it today. )

On my first go, I was mining Ferrite from rocks to make metal to repair my ship and was suddenly launched into the sky.

I thought it was a glitch so I landed safely.

I looked behind me and saw a spiderlike creature with a rock head chasing me.

It got angry that I was minning Ferrite and it became hostile. The Ferrite rock was actually his head

THAT WAS AMAZING AF.

Wish I am able to get him to come out again.

Worst. Settlement. Ever. [Discussion]

I went system hopping for a new settlement. Found this nice 6 planet Korvax so I went in. Found a decent planet, landed my ship, and used a Settlement Chart. There was one on that planet! I went right to it and looked around, the debt wasn't outrageous, the buildings and surroundings looked fine. Right then the wind picked up and a storm hit fast. Then, I get picked up and flung through the air like a freaking Raggedy Andy doll. I'd never been in a tornado on NMS before, and it was {messed up}. "Thank you, nice Korvax, good luck with the Convergence. No way in hell" and went on my merry. What are some of YOUR messed up ( not glitch related) settlement encounters?

Quick PSA about things that don't work for settlements/station overrides (and potential Spoilers) [Spoiler]

A couple of things that i tried today:

1- The Station override doesn't work on abandoned stations (I has the hope it might work but it didn't), there are no consoles for that in abandoned stations, so i prefer to let you know in case anyone else had the same idea.

2- Settlement map charts doesn't work on undiscovered systems (those with no inhabitants, no economy and no conflict) it promts a message on screen telling you that the signal is locally unable to work (can't remember the exact phrasing)

There shouldn’t be a Teleporter or Tech Vendors in the Anomaly [Suggestion]

I understand that the Anomaly is crucial for quests and the story of the game but I feel like after I unlock it, it kills all of my motivation to build a base or do that much exploring. HG should split tech vendors and make only certain ones accessible from certain places like you couldn’t get more advanced vehicles until you find an outpost on a planet or the new settlements could be used to unlock the more advanced building parts. Weapon upgrades/mods could only be found in Vykeen systems while starship upgrades can only be found in Gek systems and Freighter upgrades in Korvax systems etc. And if you want to use a teleporter, make one. There’s just so much missed opportunity to keep people exploring and have that exploration have some kind of purpose.

I am great full for this game and appreciate that HG doesn’t charge us for these updates but I just want this game to be more engaging? I want what I do to matter more.

Brand new, 10hrs in and loving it but.. [Question]

..the grind to upgrade inventory space is kind of killing the fun of this game. I love exploring all the worlds. I've made a rudimentary shelter to house my technology devices on a Misty Moon in a galaxy 5 warps away. I have a few linked upgrades to my Mining Beam, Jetpack, Life Support, Pulse and Hyper Drives. Got a freighter after my 5th warp, and encountered a giant Kite-shaped space station. I think it's that thing in the cover art. Atlas? Anyway, for Nanites I've been trying to catalog Fauna but always end up being 1 away from completion.

I guess, how does one do this without MMO-hours of time? Is that possible?

Also, Metal Fingers. Those things are weird but great. I wish I found more Uranium ones.

Confusion about Galactic Map for Expedition - which line should I follow? [Question]

I've got the map set for Expedition, travelling to the first rendez-vous, but I've got about 4k light years and no sign of it yet. So I'm confused. There's two lines leaving the system I'm in. One is bright green, which I thought was the path back where I have been. (I don't know for sure because I've been making long jumps.) The other is a very faint reddish line that stretches away into the distance, linking several systems. I have been following that line. But now I'm confused and don't want to get too far off track. Can someone clear this up for me?

Quest credit [Question]

Why do quests have to be "active" in order to get credit for them?

I just finished building the first building on my settlement, after the Overseer's Office, and noticed that I have a quest to bring the materials needed for the first part of it to the building that just finished.

Is this why I'm not getting any new buildings to invest in, since the quest system still thinks that I'm working on the previous one?

I’m about 45 hours into the game, and pirate attacks are an amusing diversion at best. Wait for them to reveal their engines, hold down the fire button for two seconds, repeat 2-3 times.

Do pirates ever get more dangerous and pose more of a worthwhile challenge?

Is there a better way? [Question]

So I'm playing the new expedition, and I need to get to a planetary outpost. After walking for at least ten minutes I finally found one with my minotaur scanner. the only problem is, it's 22 minutes away. Since the ship is broken I don't see another way to get there fast, but I may be wrong.

Is there a trick to finding underwater caves? [Question]

I'm working away at Expedition 3 and I'm fairly certain the last three minerals that I'm missing are in an underwater cave. However after driving around for close to three hours I can't seem to find one. Is there an obvious trick in missing here?

I want to start the expedition but my game says "expedition complete". I've never done one before so maybe I'm doing something wrong. I checked and my game is fully updated but I can't seem to access the expedition. Help please?

Final mission help? [Question]

Okay so I've been doing Artemis path, and I got to the point where I had the selection of doing the Atlas path or the Final Interface (I think) and silly me chose the Atlas path not knowing it would be so tedious.

I'm up to sequence 15 of 16 of The Purge and I have no clue as to what I'm supposed to do next. No pointers in the mission log, nothing. I am something like 655000 light years away from the galactic core so surely that's not where I'm supposed to go? Please help. I am very confused.

Settlement building completed, after last build phase reset back to zero [Discussion]

Not sure if this has happened to others. I know other people have had their settlement build reset back to zero instead of completing. I had it happened to me earlier today while i was watching it tick over to 100%. I got fed up and decided to abandon any more settlement building until this is fixed.

Came back into my game tonight and suddenly the thing that was back to zero, was now complete. I can't think of anything i might have done that would have triggered this. When it reset to zero last time all I did was reload the game to see if it made any difference, and at the time it didn't. It was still at zero.

Also, that last build seems to have bumped my settlement from B to S.

Is Everyone still having issues with settlements? [Question]

I swapped and now mines dead on take over. For a while they were all other player settlements, now I can find ones I can take over, take them, build the admin office, and then thats the end of settlements for me. Is there talk of more patches coming soon? Or is it just something I'm doing wrong? Have they just said flat out that your screwed if you see this? Am I the only one?

Is anyone else having issues joining other people? [Question]

Me and my friend both play on Steam, and ever since the most recent patch, we have been getting the "Version Mismatch" message anytime we tried joining each other. We verified integrity of game files, restarted Steam, restarted the game multiple times, and checked for updates and everything seems to be clear. We never had this issue before and I am wondering if this issue is going on with anybody else?

Some warmth in the vastness of space. [Build]

Just built a new home with all the new timber pieces. I have noticed the exceptional lighting is quite nice coming from the new lanterns etc. It isn't a bright white light. It has this incredible warm glow. Just admiring. Anybody else notice some subtle goodies I can try?

Expedition 3 Phase 3 [Question]

I’m doing the Extract Minerals part of the expedition event. When I hook up the mineral extractors to solar panels, it works for a couple minutes then shuts down and tells me that my grid is overloaded. I’m new to the whole power part of NMS so I don’t know how to fix this

Having Issues With "Dreams Of The Deep," Can't Find A Signal To Investigate? [Question]

I've been searching for ages now on this quest. The system map shows the mission location being in my current system, but the tutorial says to find a planet with water. Okay, cool. There's a planet with water right there. The game labeled it for me.

Nope, signal blocks warp, and the mission marker is still in this system. Okay, what planet is it on? I've been scanning this same system for three fucking hours. The ship notifies me there's some signal for me, but I can't access it. And there's still no mission markers on any of the planets in this system, again, after three hours of scanning the same system.

I don't know what I'm doing, I don't know where I'm going, and I really, really wish this quest were completely optional. How do I complete this quest so that I can even move on?!
