For sure not the first person to think of this idea but I built a ladder to space while waiting on refiners. Including a landing pad at 2150u Bonus: your jetpack never drains above the atmosphere so if you have oxygen to recharge life support you can fly as high as you want.
(Originally as a launch pad for the nomad exocraft since it's a low gravity planet)

Well, It's not bad I guess. Good tree coverage. Nice short green grass (good for fps), Only problems I can see is the terrain is very uneven which could make building a pain.
