Honestly, your method is waaaaaaaay more efficient than mine.
Thankfully I've gotten a template of sorts to work with now, but it still takes me at least an hour to put one together. If you're looking for more functionality than MS paint, I use a free program called paint.net but GIMP would also work (also free).

In fact, since Origins Dead Planets have a bit more diversity. I've found the standard dead planets, the airless ones and a frozen dead world.

Started a survival save yesterday, saw an explorer I liked the look of so I went and grafted a couple of Mil Units and went back to where I saw the ship. I got it eventually and it was an S class!! Score!!

Wanted to share a planet that I found with you guys. I think its going to be my main base. The mixture of colours is the closest thing I have seen to E3 trailer. Its combination of red, pink and orange. There is an occasional hot rain, but everything else is to my taste. The forests are very dense and the fauna looks almost primal. Water is red. There are rivers, lakes and ponds.Possibly the prettiest planet I have found in the game so far in all my hours.

That's because they are.
Blueprint upgrades and Module upgrades are different.
There's a set limit to the number of blueprints available, so having more than 2 of them is usually not an issue (except for like hyperdrives)

make yeast from faceium .. add refined flour to create dough .. get sugar from whatever you choose .. and start collecting milk .. pop the milk into the refiner to create creame , then cream to butter then split , say 25 in one slot and 25 in another slot . this butter will create clarified oil .
add oil , dough and sugar = doughnuts .
