I finally decided to try out survival mode. Once I got off the starter planet I found an awesome ringed planet in the solar system. It ended up being an ocean planet with lots of small islands and the deepest point is 140u. I found this cool island that a nice 60u deep alcove to park my submersible. The only problem is there is no electromagnetic hotspot close buy and I would have to run on solar and biofuel

I usually go to the limit -- a few blocks higher is too high than what you see there. Eventually you can't access build tools at a certain height, and even then, there's a window of about 3-4 blocks that your blocks may disappear when you reload after save. You see when you lose the build tools then save and check test blocks to see if any disappear, see how high they don't.

This time I did. Sometimes I would drop to the ground and save at the base comp or ship. I build like this: So I can jet pack block to block back up.

I use metal cube parts - like a cuboid room, and next to it in parts palette, but requires far less resources and works for the purpose.

REALLY gives me vertigo, actually. 🙂
