Active ships up to 12 and cold storage up to 18 but if you have 30 total you are locked with no space in cold storage to put a ship to free up space in active lineup to take one of the 18 from cold storage...so you must always have one open slot either in cold storage or active lineup so actual max is 29 I think.

I was just saving up all the void motes from the many quests I did for the Autophage as I was maxing my standing with them and learning their entire language. I got all of it in like a week...which wasn't too bad. It was easy to churn through a lot of their trivial quests that just wanted me to give them rusted metal or craft them some item or another.

iirc the Aeron parts are an expedition reward.
Unless they added them to the loot pool with the other parts. Which means you can salvage them.

Glyphs are always unlocked in the same order. Completing the main storyline is the easiest and most hassle-free way to do so, but the player may also obtain glyphs from Traveler graves.

A) Through the main storyline mission named The Purge: perform 16 warps in any direction, to any system (despite what the quest objective says). Wait for the game to register the last warp, then warp out again. Type !faq-artemispath in #bot-spam for a list of missions.

B) Find Travelers in inhabited star systems, and for 100 nanites, ask them where they came from.
This will add a HUD marker to a grave location on one of the planets in the system: follow it and interact with the grave to obtain the next glyph. Please note that if multiple travelers are found in the same location/system, it won't be possible to get markers for all their graves in one go, you need to get one grave at a time.

C) Through the Eliminate Hazardous Flora Nexus mission. It is strongly recommended to do this with multiplayer disabled. As part of the mission, the player is led to a grave. Once located, do not interact with it but instead build and claim a base computer near by, then return to the Space Anomaly by reloading restore point or using on-foot quick menu shortcut (if available). Nexus missions refresh every 10 minutes, so if the mission is still available (or another of the same type has been added with the last refresh), the process can be repeated again. Once done with finding graves, they can easily be reached through any teleporter.

Crafted blueprints are not limited at all...you can only install each once but not limited to 3...take hyperdrive for example...it has 4 system drives plus the emergency warp drive...you can install ALL of them.

Corvette and freighter serve as small size and medium size portable bases but can't match the functionality and productivity of planetary bases...ultimately they all serve different purposes though.

They feel like tiny freighters there but due to their nature and the whole abandoned mode feeling they become like a really personal home

Now if only abandoned wasn‘t missing so much other content…tho freighters not being usable there is what makes corvettes so awesome in the first place

The hell it isn't useful. My automated farms are the financial backbone that allowed me to max the slots of many ships. I spent hundreds of Billions of units upgrading stuff in this game...ships, multitools, freighter, etc. You can't do that without it...not on any sane timeline anyway.

And it's not about mining a specific hotspot but many hotspots...and setting up bio-domes...which are far more effective when it comes to harvesting hundreds of plants.

The question, as phrased, is do you need a ground based base. yes - to complete the exocraft specialist missions. outside of that you can live without planet based bases and live off the land.

Again...automated farms let you hold a lot more units in the form of storing Stasis Devices...I have a storage container full of them. 4 Billion unit cap is not a problem...I have a literal bank...possible ONLY with planetary bases.

You are always free to ignore features but most of them are valuable...automation probably most of all. I have ignored bytebeat...that's about it, really. Everything else I have maxed and spent a lot of time doing. The waypoint update felt like a poison pill that set me back years...it took a loong time for me to recover from that...ended up replacing almost all of my ships and freighter as the previous ones were no longer perfect or ideal. Wouldn't have been bad if the game had always been like that but changing the game from what it was to the new inventory system did a lot of damage.

Yeah for your kind of playstyle I can see the damage it would cause.

I just always tend to remember how pre-release Sean said thing like that „they wanted to encourage moving on“.

This was really still prevelant when going through a black hole in the early days, which meant saying goodbye to your previous discoveries permanently.

It really encouraged a mindset that would value the appreciation of the moment higher than forming an attachement to it.

Earlier NMS Versions made the player feel really insignificant, as if you were merely a tourist in the world. It really invited one to roleplay and make up ones own story.

In modern NMS the player has been pushed into the main character role, and quite frankly a lot of the game is designed more strongly for the player now. You can especially notice this in the NPC interactions.

Generally the introduction of working portals and teleporters have reduced the „vastness“ of the galaxy significantly.

Portal interference was a good thing, imo.

But welp, those times ain‘t coming back, Abandoned is the best shot at relieving this type of experience.
