Well I do a lot of programming some of my programs can literally scrape a terabyte an hour if I wanted it to lol If the server allowed me so some of my work is just kind of on there taking up space and I also train AI I made a few artificial intelligences that I actually train and their PKL file which is kind of like their brain can get pretty large pretty fast also so the space is very useful for what I do

duping itself doesn't ruin anything, you may grow bored faster if you over use it. a very efficent way to get nanites is the pirate stations suspect tech and arms, and trading them in at any module vendor refining works but requires a lot of farming. and depending on your mode might be limited to 250 in survival or permadeath

your time is better spent flying your grind, if that is artemis or atlas then autophage. Only collect "Extra nanites" when you happen to be at a pirate system or only hunt sentinel ships when you happen on a dissident system - spread your grind out you will get more than you need, eventually.

Honestly no. Astroneer is actually stricter and harsher with survival...when you are not leashed to an oxygen source you are on a very short timer early game and the overall the game is much smaller. I think NMS is a far more relaxed experience.
