I used to make Corvettes I thought were cool at the time but looking at them now I cringe

Easy to tell what biome a planet is by readng the plants/minerals.
Gold - Glitch Exotic (weird alien vibes and a collectable decoration)
Plants - if it has star bulb, it's grass, if it has solanium it's hot, etc.
Minerals - if it has no plants, then it's a corruption of the associated plant.
If it has rusted metal, it's a dead planet.

they will appear on any planet that lists them when scanned from space, but distribution will vary between worlds. some more dense than others. same as trees and loot boxes and buildings...

Fun science. It tends to muck up the player who JOINS the team from the menu mroe than the originating player. I've theorized that it's because of how the game remembers "postion not saved in multiplayer" - so there are actually less locationing issues if you meet up IN GAME, on some shared destination planet, and join each other that way, rather than from in the menus.
