The things you mentioned don't really require the kind of units you need to farm for. Just upgrade your scanner and eat a cake and you'll be getting 30+ millions per scan. You'll get everything you need for this venture in a single system.

Oh that's other thing. Apart from one expedition where the tasks was to create some foods I never messed with the food system.

But I really should, heard there's some amazing buffs with the nutrien ingestor.

It's a 6 hour save and just got the freighter (Haven't even got a base yet) so only kept the absolute necessities on me as I didn't had storages

Some farming, sure. But you could get enough food to reach the actual Unit cap by feeding like 10 animals. Actually finding the RIGHT animals to feed to get eggs can take time though, so it's not a totally trivial thing to do.

You just need eggs and honey from animals to make almost all of the best foods, all other cooking ingredients are trivial and accessible almost everywhere. Honey is found by feeding plant-like animals, but I'm not sure if there's an obvious pattern for which animals provide eggs.

It's also useful for other activities than scanning, though that's the most dramatically altered activity

• animals can now be captured using the new ALeash addon for multitools and can be put in buildable farm coops
• automated animal/crops harvesting machines
• new cooking overhaul, more recipes and a second cooking storage
• new expedition focusing on cooking meals/harvesting rare plant variations and selling them/giving them to the space station
