At the space anomaly, you can view and buy upgrades. There's one NPC each for ships, exosuit, vehicles, and multi tool upgrades. You'll also see a new multi tool in each system you go to, either on the space station or the anomaly. If you're in the same system, the tool will be the same.

it's all just nanites. With exception for the base building parts. those need salvage data that you can dig up on a lot of planets.

You don't need much at first. Scan everything you see on planets. Finding planets and scanning gives you nanites when you claim it in the discovery menu. Also, for an extra bonus, scanning all wildlife on a planet rewards a nice chunk of change.

I love the convenience of the anomaly, but they need to overhaul the old pre-Beyond quests that have since been made redundant by the Anomaly.
You can literally completely ignore the base building quests, including the specialists and still get all the same stuff at the Anomaly.
The only reason to do those quests now is if you want the NPC's available to stand around your base as decoration. Even then, they only show up at a single base at a time.

NMS uses both server-client and p2p networking: server-client for singleplayer and multiplayer outside of a group, and p2p for multiplayer inside a group (with the group host (with the crown) as the hub of the group.

the minecraft biome and terrain generators are chaotic but produce interesting things. flat valleys with looming cliffs. marshes. deserts. mesas.
nms planets have a waterlevel and terrain thats just more or less noisy. and then the biome just colors the result and plops vegetation.
