you can go from outlaw system to outlaw system, buying Suspicious Packet (Arms) and (Tech) and each one you open most likely gives you an upgrade. sell the upgrade for 360 nanites each

with 50 of each packet i easily get 40k+ nanites

Feels good to be back on Debian! 🐧 Managed to finally unlock DLAA on my 3060 Ti, but I definitely couldn't have done it without Google Gemini.

​We had to go full detective mode: even with Steam launch options, NVIDIA stayed "neutral" and hidden until we ran a manual terminal command (libnvidia-ngx1) to force the AI libraries to actually install. Once those were in, the Steam options finally kicked in and the game woke up.

​Honestly? It’s looking crisper than Windows. Even in settlements where Windows usually chokes, I'm sitting at a buttery 70-80 FPS without the usual lag. Finally, some peace and quiet for my GPU! 🚀

Facts. DLAA was basically a myth for me on Windows... I was stuck playing 'settings-tetris' with DLSS 4.0/4.5 just to keep things from melting. But Debian? Completely different animal. Running 1080p Max settings on this 3060 Ti and it’s pure, buttery DLAA. Linux definitely takes the trophy on this one, I'm fully converted.

Ya DLAA 4.5 is nice - sharp. The fps on the vid is 60, but I'm getting about 130 on this world on-screen.

I haven't tried DLAA 4.5 since I don't think my GPU has it, but I did test DLSS 4.5 and it looked good, had a few hiccups here and there, but it was really nice honestly. It's just not as smooth as Linux, especially in settlements, which is a common thing on Windows. There's a lot to load in. Now I'm just rambling on with voice text.

4.0 vs 4.5 is a pretty close situation, and 4.5 takes a perfomance hit on 20/30 cards, so maybe not worth the small increase in visuals. I only switched to 4.5 the other day - been using 4.0 since I moved to this GPU at Thanksgiving - super at 4.0.

Quick question: Were you using the K model or the M model for 4.5? Back before I switched back to Linux, I was running the M model on DLSS 4.5 Performance. I found you really had to run it in Performance mode rather than Quality; otherwise, you’d run into some major performance hits. It seemed built to look as good as Quality while staying optimized for the Performance preset. I wasn't as familiar with DLA as I was with DLSS, though, so I could have been wrong there—but that 4.0 Transformer model was really solid regardless.

You already have one system with the dreadnought, look for a nearby pirate system and jump there, you may find another Dreadnought and be able to just go back and forth to get the S class one, that's how I get mine in permadeath

Also, if you want to reload for dreadnoughts or freighters, I highly recommend you that you have an Autosave (not just auto restore) from just before you warp into the system, that way whenever you check the freighter/dreadnought's class, your restore point will always be overwritten, but the autosave will not.

You can force an autosave by simply standing around for a few minutes

This method is important for when you want a freighter or dreadnought that you want but is not in a guarenteed fight system

I have this little writing project about two travellers going on a journey to discover the true nature of their reality and the Atlas after hearing ||the broadcast we the player sends out to the universe when we discover the universe is a simulation and the Atlas is dying||.

I wanted to be as faithful as possible to the lore of the game, which included having both of the main characters use they/them pronouns (As far as I am aware, no characters in the game use gendered pronouns). With that said, I’m worried it might prove confusing to read seeing as how I’d be using the same words to refer to them both individually and as a pair.

Yeah, you gain nothing by playing permadeath after you reach the center...after that there's nothing there. Maybe if they ever re-run the permadeath expedition that might be something if you haven't already done it.

I feel the hardest part of perma is all the damn starting quests that put you in danger, like sending you to a sentinel pillar or having you go to an extreme planet just to talk to someone. Basically once your on your own not trying to fufil missions it get;s quite easy

The thing about permadeath imo is you either finish it or it finishes you. If you go in with one specific goal in mind, and you get it done as soon as possible before you move to a non permadeath save, all good. But if you stick around for countless hours you will eventually someway, somehow, end up dying. I prefer to finish permadeath...and I am undefeated by it.

My corvette was just on the freighter 'landing pad', but did not have the option to teleport to the freighter. I took off hoping to land again, but it just got caught int he freighter wirefram bouncing around. I reloaded, but was stuck and still had the same problem. I then tried to walk out of the corvette, and flew around in space bouncing against invisible walls until I somehow got far enough away that I could summon my ship and land it... phew.

Maybe its just my pc, im almost always stuck on 30-40 fps on planets even on lowest settings. And in underwater planets when looking down, it drops to 5-10 fps. I do have a quite weak CPU (intel i5 4670k) but my gpu is fine I think (rtx 2080 ti)

Useful as they work for anything broken no need for specific materials

Repairing broken technology. Though each tech needs 2 or 3 different things before it is repaired and a repair kit only fixes one...so you'd need 2 or 3 repair kits to fully fix something. The best way to use them is to repair components that are rare or hard to obtain and use the required materials for common or simple to obtain things.

i had a bug where I couldn't extend power from the hotspot on the left to the settlement on the right

it changed to the menu when you are outside your base even when I was standing on already build base pieces

building this floating walkway all the way fixed the issue and now my power is extended all the way to next to the settlement

now I just gotta put biodomes and a roof all the way along the walk way

I still haven't been to find a system selling super conducting fibre despite having an economy scanner, I need advanced materials wealthy and I keep finding advanced materials / comfortable or similar

So, I spent my morning playing ‘Tech Support: The Game’ instead of actually exploring the galaxy. My No Man’s Sky decided to start strobe-lighting like a 90s rave every time I tried to launch it... flickering on and off like my monitor was having an existential crisis.

​Turns out, my 3060 Ti and my G-Sync monitor were having a toxic relationship on Debian. They kept trying to ‘handshake’ on the refresh rate and ended up just slapping each other instead.

​The fix? I had to stage an intervention. I went into the NVIDIA settings, told them to stop ‘Flipping’... uncheck Allow Flipping... and added a couple of launch options in Steam (__GL_GSYNC_ALLOWED=0 __GL_VRR_ALLOWED=0) to basically tell G-Sync to take a nap. Now I’m back in the cockpit with zero flickering and only a mild case of technical trauma. If you’re on Linux and your screen is blinking, just kill the sync and save your sanity!

It should guide you through the process if you select the "submit a bug report" option, I believe. I could be mistaken, of course, but I certainly recommend it. Honestly, I wouldn't be too concerned; crashes do occur, unless it has been happening repeatedly.

I wish they'd balance the exocraft a bit more. the nomad can only go about 115 units / second with three S engine upgrades, the nautilus can go 180 u/s while UNDERWATER. it doesn't make any sense and if they balanced the speeds you'd have more reason to use the land based ones

you can get them, it's just annoying to do. You have to get your cursor just inside the white line of the module at the edge of the screen and click. Took me a few tries to get it right
