You don't make a copy of your multitool from the main save while in the main save. When you are in the expedition you will have the option to copy whatever multitool you had equipped in the main save and the active ship you had in the main save. You don't copy that stuff before starting the expedition.

thinking about the curiosity that is a gateway system I've found. in the past it's been a yellow system, but with purple stars, the system needed to jump to the center switched to a nearby purple system. I claimed that one too but it's odd.

Might be location based. Move him to your freighter base and move the freighter around different systems, he should offer you at least different rifles and pistols...but I think what he offers will always be junk.

what moog said but the thing you want mainly is Chromatic Metal, while you can get it from refining the Copper, Activated Copper gives a higher Chromatic Metal return, it's usually preferred to grab a stack of "Activated" metal as oppose to regular when setting up on a expedition given that one full stack of 9,999 Activated will set you up nicely starting out

on your main save, you put stuff in there to take with you. When you start the expedition you must REACH the anomaly to take those things FROM that machine. If you switch back to your MAIN save before taking anything out, it will still be in that machine for you to take out should you choose

think of it like a safety deposit box, you're puttin the box in the bank for your expedition self to go and claim it. If you don't go to the anomaly in the expedition, you can always return to the box and take stuff out in your regular save

Oh, Infra-Knife Accelerator probably does more DPS but it's projectiles are smaller so it can miss the small unshielded starship hulls it's designed to destroy

Photon cannon unupgraded isn't the worst, due to enemy scaling

Krypton/Planet Vegeta looking cataclysm. I wonder if they'll ever make destroyed planets, or have special planetary events when visiting some systems (unstable systems) that show you unique celestial body interactions, like:

1. Planetary annihilation: Like this, a planet exploding into smithereens due to a large asteroid or somethings. Have a planetary core to visit for endless ferrite or heavier elements.
2. Supernova: An escape system where you can't make a base, players need to refuel and jump to another system quick before the system goes super nova! (kinda like in Galaxy on fire 2), maybe have an item to shoot in to stars and stabilize the system.
3. Black hole collapse: I just wanna see planets get eaten up
