I think beyond Euclid and Eissentam, a lot of it is about what you want out of the galaxy you're in. Most galaxies are 'normal', and the further down the chain you get, the emptier they'll be. So if you want a galaxy all to yourself, heading deep down into the 200's might be a way to do that.
There's also the galaxies that have more dead planets or more violent planets, which means easier access to specific resources or unique base opportunities. Then there's places where communities are set up in specific galaxies.

If you have an economy scanner, check the notes under a system. It should have an icon with some stars or a skull, and little notes right under the system name with a note saying water or dissonant

I don't think hello games gave reason why but expedition game mode often applies special rules to the universe, e.g. During Liquidators all planets had vile brood on them, expedition game mode also has difficulty settings dictated by hello games. It would make sense to make it seperate

game likes to park your ships wherever the hell it wants when you portal

   the middle strip is just good for life or for building a base
