That's not what happens, when you finally launch out of the planet you can't reach a station, they don't show it. You must follow signal to another planet and continue quest first. It's only way after you unlock the freedom.
Did te beginning of the expedition today and it's way way quicker than the real tutorial .
Also remember than when you're a noob, you don't understand much about moving your ship in space... And having to land in nowhere for a quest, multiple times, is pretty hard and consume stuff to get off

Step one have a crap ton of parts to play with. If you are playing on Normal this might take some work to gather all the parts you will need to really trick out your corvette. I have not gotten past step one myself so my corvette is mostly just "throw parts together and watch stat number go up" which is why my hyperdrive is rated for over 777ly of travel.

Yes, they say all of that stuff and are often wrong, or at least don't understand the mechanics. You can teleport between planets, you can have a base in space though it won't load for you on reload unless you are using Transcender, you can have exocraft in your freighter, there are phantom systems, and you can use almost any part on corvettes if done properly

most of them are really out of date

the reason why there's a large amount of outdated mods is simple

people couldn't be bothered to stick around for X years updating their mods each time HG updated the game

And they did every couple months

Plus there were at least 2 updates that changed so much under the hood all mods became outdated

Thankfully the situation is much better now, the modding system got extensively reworked
