i love base building for a few reasons:
most importantly, just for the love of building itself, but also to build upon the world ive created. like, adding a cafe to my freighter for my crew to eat at, and also just because it looks pretty, or building a research outpost on a frozen planet for lore reasons, or a ruined base also to add to the lore of my character, stuff like that. Of course, there are also functional uses like resource mining, plant growing, manufacturing, and many things really, but anything big and fancy isn't truly needed.

It can, or it can grant things that no regular player can like expedition rewards (see the expedition reward unlocker function). It has all of it's steps that need to be very carefully read and followed
Some aspects/functions do require subcribing to their patreon, as they're more specific or resource-intensive tasks (you also have a limit of 3 use of it per month, 4 if you link a free patreon account to it without paying)

So, I just got the option to add a Coolant Mill to one of my Autophage settlements. Long story short, there were 2 terminals at the construction site, both labeled the same. When I added the materials to one terminal, the other one also updated with the countdown timer. 🤷‍♀️

Wanna know something funny as I just started the game. I built a beautiful moutain side house and was loving it. I had it all setup all my items inside and the last thing to move was the computer. Man I really hate the way the discovery log works. Like its pretty much imposible to keep it clean and organized, just looking at star systems on the galaxy map makes them show up in your discovery log if another person has discovered them
