When starting expeditions from a save you have the option to bring helpful things like Carbon, Warp Hypercores, etc, however keep in mind you won't be able to access that until the first warp.

As for tech modules, you can have hyperdrive upgrades for quicker warps, launch auto-charger, aqua jets or other utility upgrades work as well.

Those tornadoes act in interesting ways. I was watching one from inside a Trading Post (in the center area under the cover) and still got dragged horizontally toward an active twister. And another time while building a base once snuck up on me and sucked me up and out through a two-story structure I was building. Note to self: complete the roof first on tornado planets 😉
