Steps for a photo mission on ps5, that will always work.

Have the photo quest selected as your active quest. Go to quest location.

Scan so you get a photo quest marker. (for building photos, you won't get this for flora/fauna quests)

Enter photo mode ingame. To do this, press down on dpad and scroll to the right and select photo mode. Do NOT just press L2 and focus on object (this is most people's mistake

Point your screen towards object to be photographed .

Hold down the "create" button for a few seconds. You'll go into the system create screenshot/video screen. Select "take screenshot" here if you really want.

Press "o" to exit and go back to game.

Press "o" to exit photo mode.

Quest will show as complete.
