I was grinding missions back in Expedition 16 for the last like 1000 Nanites I needed for one of the milestones, and station quests only reward like 200 each

Yes. I am a HUGE pre-NEXT person (playing v1.1 alongside current on this PC time to time) and I am loving what I am seeing in the new purple systems. I am quite happy about this.

Looking for confirmation that the wilder terrain is only in purple systems though. I've not spent much time in other systems since W II.

They are pretty rare / hard to find. They replaced starter basese (one round room you could claim) pre-NEXT, pre-2018, but I think there are less in number than the old starter bases.

They used to look like this - you'd fly around looking for one of these starter bases. You'd go in and claim it and then build onto it. That's how you built bases pre-NEXT. These were converted to the base computers in the wild -- and I THINK there are many less of them per world than there were these starter bases. But, I am not certain.
