The outer edges of the galaxy is the best place to settle down because it is very unlikely anyone will find your bases as long as you are careful not to share coordinates. If you want to go the extra mile there are 255 galaxies and most players gravitate mostly around 5 or so most popular ones...there are many out there almost nobody lives in...go to the very outer edge of one of those.

The only time I've personally encountered lag is actually the loading screen, when it's zooming through the Galaxy... That just murders my GPU for some reason, the rest of the game runs fine

That's the best part of the game imo. Everyone can really spread their elbows out and have as much space as they desire and never have to see another player. Kind of what really makes me nervous about Light No Fire...only one planet, no matter how large, is going to be a real problem if there is no way to completely turn off all multiplayer elements like seeing other bases and nonsense like the message bubbles.

The deep oceans are fairly rare but not too rare. To find them prioritize purple systems that don't have giants...you might have to warp 10-20 times depending on your luch but it shouldn't take too long too find one.

You stockpile them until you decide to blow billions upgrading a ship to max storage. You can save a lot of money by buying and scrapping ships for storage upgrades but that's time consuming so it's better to store up stasis devices from the farms and then when you go from 4 billion to zilch in a few minutes you can quickly replenish your units...less time consuming to craft stasis devices from the farms than to buy and scrap countless ships.
