You could go somewhere, play for 3h, build a base, hunt ships, and then go try for a freighter

Keep playing normally, battle will eventually spawn, timer doesn't restart if you exit the game, it just pauses and will resume when you load your save

keep saving on space stations, if a battle spawns reload to restore point on the space station, next warp should trigger a battle again

How to get started...

5. Return to space, aim towards empty space, and engage Pulse Drive, disengage when you see the quest's Space Encounter.

7. Finish the mission to reveal all purple systems on the galaxy map.

Something I would investigate. Seems to me that it would be a paradise planet but being in a purple system (Quartzite being the main clue here), the term "Abandoned" may lend to something much more awesome than just a plain Paradise world. trying not to spoil the fun there.
