The only merit i find in ground building is just to look cool

They can be handy if you need resources from specific planet types, like if you're struggling to find a particular planet like a drowning planet or a paradise planet you can set up a base and it is a simple teleport away

the main issue is though that you cannot rework old planets due to bases being there. which is a shame.

game still makes me hope for more diversity on planets so I can discover more and spend more time there.
