Some people assume it's a prequel. But not really. It's more of a "reboot"...an alternative version of the film. The original creator is involved in the Netflix production. And at this point, I do feel it's better than the film (which I enjoyed).

It is based on both the 2013 South Korean–Czech film of the same name, directed by Bong Joon-ho and the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, from which the film was adapted.
