TY. Small Crates and the tips are that one side panel piece. main part is two Firebox Fairings, one slightly smaller and black as the palm.
I saw most people use those gas canisters and I did not want that look.
the ONLY downside is those stupid side panels do not have a back face, to you can see through them from behind. One polygon economy wrecks it XD

so I’ve had landing legs on my corvette for a while, went to change them to another landing gear but when I did it told me they weren’t connected
which is odd, because I put them in the same spot
also they were under a reactor which I think might be an issue? it wasn’t with the other landing gear though
nevermind, I just moved the reactors back a tile each and that helped

is it possible to save corvette designs or no?

what do you mean by save
in this case
As in can you save them for later to apply to a new corvette or such, or to paste over another corvette's design

Corvettes can land on planets, though they don't really have to as they can stay hovering and you can beam down to the surface
We had shipbuilding in a previous update but it wasn’t really shipbuilding. The old system was that you’d scrap or find starship parts, put them in a fabrication terminal with a class core and you got the thing.
Corvettes are basically buildable starships; think your fighter but an actual living place you can expand freely and design how you like within the complexity limit, that you can land on planets and hover over them

Hey so, I started building my first corvette and just finished it, however it wont let me actually enter it, all I can do is raise and lower the entry ramp
Ramp is connected to the hab, landing gear is under the hab, not sure what I did wrong
Have you tried walking up the ramp? Have you tried deleting the hab (and any ladders or stuff inside it, and replacing it?

i made yet another corvette, if you think the ship looks very outdated, good, thats the design feel i was trying to achieve, the theme behind it is that the ship is a civilian research corvette thats old but not obselite

Not in-game, no. On PC, you can export them to external tools to save them that way, copy them to another slot, or just archive them if you have more than 12 designs you want to preserve.
Now all I need are some friends...
Mostly it's about positioning. Like, "this part looks OK here, but it would look better if it was just a LITTLE forward." Or if you want something half a hab wide like Vesper Aerofoils or Fuel Covers centered on top of a hab, but it only lets you face them the wrong way, etc.

For thelatter, you put habe half a space out, put down the parts where you want them, then delete them
It's a nice, simple design. Good starter. You need to delete the extra walkways/habs you used to offset the parts if you want to get into the cockpit. 1/2 step building requires you to add and delete a lot of "scaffolding" parts like that as you build.

You can always put them back later if you need them to place another part
i'd have to dismantle the whole thing 😭
no you don't
if you move the cockpit, you can probably see the ends of all the habs
delete all of them, then just add the ones you need (or pick the right ones to delete)
then put the cockpit back on
ill be learning other techniques anyway so ill build another corvette
you will learn great camera control as you squeeze it under and around stuff you build in order to select the right part to delete.
sometimes you need ot change it to a different angle to get it to snap to the right part, too
it all comes with experience and practice
Also, sometimes parts don't want to snap to a part they should, and you need to pop down a walkway or two so you can place the part in the right spot. You will learn how to do all this stuff eventually.

My latest build uses an Ambassador tucked underneath, with a fake cockpit on top
andf the transformed vesion has it tucked behind the chest plates with a narrow gap to see through. If you zoom in you can see it just under the head

It's rather a long range all-purpose vessel. Pretty heavily armed.
If you want to keep them for combat, you could half-step or otherwise clip them inside of larger parts - I do this routinely with micro builds where I want to still pack a big firepower punch

As was said already, at least one gun is required. Best way to slape the single photon cannon - keep 1 less tech slot occupied, because photon cannon is forced into the corvette by default.
Knocked out the third transformation for my transforming Corvette
so is there no way to prevent this from happening when trying to build with rockhoppers? the flipping just doesn't work

This part just not flippable. You place one more hopper propeller module and then short wing instead

It doesn't hurt to double check if your tech modules got scrambled, sometimes corvette tech modules are buggy like that

Yes, though it's possible that inventory size may change slightly since habs contribute to that
It's a 1/4 step (to sides) build. The only part that was not done in station is that I adjusted the top of the front end to tilt it down a bit and set it right in line with the Ambassador Heavies on the sides.

Where are the corvette autocannons and gunner turrets? You can only shoot infront of you all you do with them in multiplayer is walk around. The combat could use an update too sorry for the complaint but this would be awesome okay bye

atleast on the outside
You need a mod, or glitch technique, that lets you rotate habs/walkways on the X and Y axis (normally it's only around the Z)
A few parts -- the Ambassador HTs in the front, and small wings (Speedbird Diffusers) going through the thrusters at the back use a ~45º angle hab to place them like that
I am on PC and use the Beyond Base Building mod
Though I also used the external Base Builder app to tweak a few parts in the front to make it cleaner. You can also use Blender
My latest build(s), the VF-1S Valkyrie from Macross, the robot and semi-robot transformations were done in Blender.
You should be able to build the jet version in station with a mod.
but my advice
Build using half steps until you get good at putting parts in hard-to-reach places. Then learn how to set up a 1/4 grid at the start of a new build and preserve it.
Nothing beats just placing parts for hours -- you will eventually get pretty skilled at it and will learn what parts match well with others

If you go dig into the save file, you will find that Corvettes are considered "bases". They are also defined by a list of parts with an identifier, and then position, scale, and rotation data. You COULD technically hand-code a corvette. Blender just allows you to do some things that the HG devs deliberately left out of the Corvette Workshop, to make it more game-friendly.
Parts snap to a grid, and most are not resizeable. And the rotation possibilities are limited

honestly, the devs seem to have this weird way of adding content where theyll add a cool new mechanic...and then do absolutely nothing else beyond the basic release with it.

For Phase Beams, it's worth noting that the damage numbers displayed in the stats when hovering over are super incorrect

my Phase Beams only do like "6-7k DPS" depending on the corvette (I have multiple), but in practice can do over 25k per damage tick
So I guess from the DPS its already good what I got there?
You could build something close to that pretty easily, even in Vanilla with no mods
Honestly I don't use the Infra-Knife and Cyclotron Ballista so I have no perspective on what numbers are "good" or not, or if it even really matters
as far as the regular stats of the corvette, they could definitely be better

I am not sure if it's the mod I use, but if I have a walkway attached to a window, I can select the walkway and rotate it to any of the four sides
as long as it is not snapping to something else

I use Zeniths to set up 45º angles mostly
but they are great for making sure you are standing in an exact spot for alignment

First what we do need is flat hub cover, more cockpits and sideways landing pads without using 3rd party apps, shitty mods on mad glitches.
Heyo, i hadnt played in a while but got a spontaneous urge to toy around with corvettes again, do they still struggle with vfx glitches (like having the vfx for weapons originate from all turrets rather than only the turrets that correspond to the weapon type)
WIP on a cyberpunk advertising airship build, liek the one in Blade Runner. It's gonna be an open concept and well-lit inside for an "illuminated" theme for C&C in a couple weeks.
Also this mod that brightens up the Corvette build area is AWESOME
vfx for weapons is still limited and will only animated from a max of 6 weapons; depending on the type they'll all fire at one or each turret separately
I have a corvette with 6 phase beams and it animates all when firing but on a different save with a different corvette it animates 6 phase beams at one with mixed turrets types but with 6 photon turrets it'll animate a max of 6 of those photon turrets but one after another.
If you're on PC you can just mod the game so you can animate more things depending upon how beefy of a PC you have
interiors need more love (better building hitboxes would help too)

the mods that allow for placement outside of where stuff should normally be are really useful though, that desk is a freighter planet scanner btw

You can buy basic parts at the corvette shop near corvette pad, then build basic corvette using these parts.

Build basic, use it to farm parts.

i'm building a replica of the UESC Marathon and would love it if i didn't have to make the moon-not-moon it's embedded in out of indivudual ruin props, i'd rather do it with a Wonder Projector but it's not nearly large enough at its natural scale limit

If you want to do it exactly, you need a 1/4 grid, I use Speedbird Diffusers overlapping slightly,
nah im lowkey happy with my simpler design
its not that bad
the Two Diffusers are each 1/4 off the center hab, so they overhang a small amount, And they are usually 1/2 step back so they are more or less even with the cockpit

Often, what you have to do is build a walkway or two out into the open, do the offset there, then build back to the spot you need it using the new offset part.

in general it's hard to pull off long designs even modded because it becomes easy to spot the repeated pieces and becomes visually noisy

One of the nicer Aeron builds I have seen. I normally hate them.
YOu can't. Best you can do it switch to first person view before going into build mode.
The Aeron pieces are mostly quite large and, imo, fairly difficult to use well. Definitely found it challenging to get shaping that I liked
thinking of maybe quarter-stepping the front Aeron blades forward to try and align them better with the rear ones
aeron parts probably would be easier to incorporate into corvettes if they were wee bit more colorable
yeah the color limitations are also an issue
The thing is, they do not generally match well with other parts. I have used Aeron parts in exactly two builds -- I used the Drive for the head of my Battroid mode Valkyrie, and I used the Diffuser/Cowling on another, but only the very top pokes out on that one, it's more for the stripe it creates.

Most of my builds are Black and White anyway, so they could technically fit if not for the red lines that match nothign else on the ship
So I think of Aeron parts as all-or-nothing usually.

Recently finished/almost finished my first corvette, a 12 deck Trek style vessel, designed for deep space exploration.
I’ve had a browse through the communities tab, couldn’t find quite what I’m after.
Does anyone know of a ‘United Federation of Travellers’ community where players who have built trek style federation style corvettes can convalesce and i can find players like me who just kind of like looking at the pretty animals and scanning 12 types of mineral that all look identical?
I have heard of a glitch where you can resize things, something to do with making the object in a normal base, then picking it up and moving it to your corvette, but I don’t know the specifics. It was something i saw on reddit, but i don’t have a link apologies
also I think I'll continue to use that structure of the Aeron winglet + the two half-stepped Supercruise foils
it kinda has a "bird of prey" head look
with the red glowing lines of the winglet being split up by the foils, making them look like eyes
I was messing around with stuff, and the structure naturally appeared as I was trying to get the shaping down, and I was like "oh that actually looks kinda good"

Without loading my game I would say add more reactors and find a way to integrate them vertically into the design. they will add more light and movement to the design while adding more functionality
it would take you 30 to 50 minutes to grind scavenger crates to get all these parts lol

Oh, in that case. Don’t know about glitches, but i used three mods personally; ‘No complexity Limit’, ‘colossal corvette build area’ and ‘Z camera corvette’ all on nexus. If you are on PC, that should work - haven’t had a chance to test them since the swarm update though.

Moves the camera further back so you can see more of your ship/further.
on mine, i couldn’t see past the saucer section, now i get a fairly decent view of the fuselage and nacelles.

oh by scramble they mean that the order of your tech modules can get messed up

Phase is giga broken if you have 6 weapon arrays
Put 3x Phase and 3x Photon
all 6 of them will contribute to the damage for some reason when using Phase
with upgrades you'll easily 2HKO any small starship - one hit for shields, one hit for hull
with well over 20k damage per tick
I've been able to hit 28k with decent supercharged slots
6 pairs of lasers hit more than 3 pairs of lasers

Phase beam with a lot of turrets for maximum powers, photon cannon and 3 turrets for efficiency
Imo beams are high overkill, and triple photon cannon is all you need.

I don't have tech slots for both, so only photon cannon. Extra 6 slots are filled with trails and figurines for extra speed. And that's I'm not even using Ceto reactors or shield generators. Also Vesper Sail and Photonix Core can be saveedited on corvettes, but it's a different story.

You can build stairs inside a corvette by leaving the corvette builder, going inside the corvette, and opening the build menu there
Its also how you place wall modules and stuff
The stairs would connect habs placed on top of each other
i built the stairs with a hab on top but the stairs still like won't open
they lead to the roof

If you set up a 1/4 grid, you could have those with a 1/2 step gap between. Unfortunately, you kinda need to do that from the start of a build

Hey you guys half of my Chevrolet is gone since the new swarm update what's going on
OK I think she's done for now. Meet is next week, so I got time to ruminate a bit...
They take the same upgrade modules as Starships. You can upgrade their class and tech slot count as well, same as Starships. So use S or X-class modules, use adjacency bonuses, etc. and you can get them quite fast and maneuverable

takes literally one minute of putting down parts for an initial basic corvette
this is an easy way to set up a 1/4 step offset grid both horizontal and forward, in the Corvette builder! no free placement, Perfectly Square and allined with the original grid!

or you might want to step those up so they are centered on that wraparound line
