an official source, idk where it was again, said that covering up functional bulky pieces with decorations increases maneuverability
And yet when I turn my boosters backwards and make them headlights I get better boost and manueverability

The world bubble a Corvette exists in grows from the center. So the parameters of the Corvettes physical space and physical parameters inflate as well.
Still feels like I'm missing something. But I don't know what. I don't want to get crazy with accessories like usual.

with a ship captain, his incompetent first mate, a rich couple, a beautiful actress, a farm girl, and a man who can make atomic bombs out of two perpetual cakes but can't fix a 6 x 6 hole in the hull of a ship.

Invisible floors and such in the anomaly would probably be due to base part rendering limits from the number of parts some corvettes may have
ya the problem is even with my most basic corvette my friend can't see it or hop in it

D'yall like my ship? Most of her parts were from a what i call "Junkyard" world (world with lotsa scrap). (Btw this is the SIN Ketsukane, brownie points if yk which game im referencing with its name!). Infra knife, positron, 4 Ceto reactors, 1 of them auto recharge reactors, shields and plenty of space.
Hey question: I wanna make a corvette based off the Pelican from the Halo game series, but I need some sort of bay-seats for that, and there doesn't seem to be anything like that for the corvette pieces. any ideas?

I'm quite new to nms (90hrs) and currently want to start building my corvette.
But I still not really understand about which parts that should be bought or farmed to build for my design.
Could anyone help me to tell me which parts should I get if I want to make my corvette looks like this?
Or is it possible at all on this design xD
That should be fairly doable. Corvettes are designed for a much smaller scale that this ship, but I think it is likely that you can make a reasonable approximation. As for the parts, you don't really have much options in that regard. There's no way you could make any sort of elaborate design with just bought parts. Salvaged parts are random, so you're just going to have to farm them for a while. You can trade in unwanted parts for any other part though.

I always suggest going into a creative mode save and building there, then you'll know what you need and what to farm

is there a way to shrink corvette parts (like the cockpit, engines, etc..) and bypass the limits on needed parts?
Only through modding on a pc. There's no glitches or mechanics for resizing Corvette parts or breaking the build limit in vanilla
#nms-modding will be able to tell you which mods and where to get them if you are interested
ok, ive seen mods where you can exceed the build limit but not any where you can have less than the required parts
are there any risks or things i have to keep in mind when building a corvette in the base building app and i use normal base parts (such as timber structures)

As you shrink the cockpit the box that you have to look at to activate getting inside of it gets smaller and smaller. Almost to the point where it disappears completely. You have to find the point where you can get it as small as you can while still being able to activate it somewhat easily

Latest ship I’ve been working on, this one is supposed to be a racing ship. Has a top speed of 4520, it’s the fastest ship I own by far.
What is the corvette agility limit when the boost starts YEEEEET you and spin?
Varies based on ship size but around 6-6500 is where you hit that wall
i just accidentally kidnapped like 20 people in the anomaly because i got stuck under the map lmao
3 supercharged pulse engine upgrades, corvette engine modules, and 3 Medusa reactors (one of which is supercharged)
I’m not even using X-class upgrades so it could go even faster
i have x class with 2 medusa reactors and i get only 3800
You can get a 3rd Medusa in there if you place the 3rd reactor before the cockpit, so the reactor’s buffs gets applied instead of the weaker buff from the cockpit
the medusa reactor keeps replacing itself

There must be some other trick. I have 3 supercharged x-class modules and three medusa reactors, plus Artemis, Polo and six trails. Still just 3700.

They have to be in the Space station workshop cache to be used during building, deleted parts off a corvette can ended up in your exosuit or current active space ship

Quick question, everyone! What is the best way to have an open hab entrance at ground level? I've run into some serious issues preventing me from getting into my corvette when I've put a landing bay at ground level. (with another landing bay on the first floor up front.)

you have to either purchase the slots or use a storage augmentation module. easiest way to get these is to scrap starships (usually higher class ships and haulers give more) there are other places you can find them though
Want the quick and dirty way? Switch your save to creative (Option menu, General, difficulty settings) add slots for free and switch back to normal.
does anyone know if there is a way to flip the engine cover rim peice along the other axis to be placed on top instead of the side?

You can turn it around and offset it to get it into the position that you may want it to get. But that piece only snaps to the side of other parts. Never the top

it seems like it should though esp if its meant to connect to engine casings, which rotate on all 3 axis
It should but it doesn't. If you're trying to completely wrap the booster like in the picture you're going to have to offset a hab a quarter of the way into the booster.
Then attach your pods around that. Once you have the third one placed you can delete the hab and place the fourth one there

ANy way i try to attach either of the 2 rims, it will only alloy it to attach ontoh the side, but not the top piece, making it so it wont match the upward curve of the ramp opening

The problem is that most diffusers and nacelles either extend too far out or not far enough to match the ambassador hatch

ya the problem is the main body is 2 habs wide, but theres no way i know of to put both a cockpit and a ramp centered
so most of the body is 2 habs and the front area is 1 hab centered with 1/2 hab size pieces on the sides

That allows you to move Habs around in a 1/2 space
I think i get how to move them around , the issue im having is just making a section of habs that have a ramp and a cockpit in the center, but have that be 2 habs in width
A thermal grill cap almost comes close enough to work

ah yea i think i tried that one and couldnt get it to line up right. did you have have to move any of those habs over 1/2 a block from the ramp, to the left?
I used the rockhopper engine to allow me to place a titan hab clipping into the same space as the hatch

The freighter-vette experiment is in full swing. I was able to get the catwalk piece lined up pretty well using the freeaim, this time around :D This makes for a great starting snap point for the rest of the build. She's gonna be a chonker, that's for sure...
I might take another whack at it though. I just realized that I can possibly lower the freighter parts below the ramp
The key here is making sure you have a downstair into the open catwalk piece. You absolutely have to come from above to get to the freighter bits
Nevermind, I can't do this. This will cause the lower scaffolding of the freighter rooms to clip into the terrain

Hey all, im having this really weird issue with my corvette and was hoping someone may have some insight
when I land on a planet, or im in the process of landing on a planet, my camera zooms way in to very center of my corvette and it starts jumping all over the place. cant see anything at all until i get out of the seat
Can you share a picture of your build?
It might be part placement or something meshing in to your cockpit area. Forcing the camera in there
I like what you got going on with that design by the way. That's pretty nice.
Those tanks you have lined up at the top for the turret may likely be your issue. I would delete them and then try landing on a planet.
Decorations can cause hard points that the camera can get stuck in front of. Or keep it from rotating properly

This isn't BAD for having jack crap for corvette modules after scavaging two separate planets.. but heck is a lot better than what Mitey originally threw together. That front tho.. still needs work. Must collect more pieces!

Dunno if god corvette module worlds are rare, but here is a system where I am able to pop about 40-90 salvage containers an hour. But here's the portal code for the system.
There is two planets with salvageable containers. Go to the one with out any sentinels
I have one on a Forsaken Planet. Low gravity, no storms, only corrupted sentinels here and there, Larval Core eggs and Gravitino Balls strewn about. Great place

what I wanted was actually making the booster's supports to facing upward not downward. Is it make sense? I don't know how to explain this.

Once you have a vertical framework set up you can point boosters up or down

Yeah you have to flip the entire framework to build vertically so you can attach them to vertical hab snap points. There's no way to just force the boosters into a vertical position without making a hab vertical first.
I mean I thought there would be some glitch to make it possible, because I saw some corvettes does have this x-axis flipped boosters? But cannot find the way.
A lot of those older videos are using a vertical glitch method that was patched out in update 3.12 a couple months ago. It was extremely unstable
It was way easier to do though.

What you're looking for is offsetting. And potentially rotating your parts. These are really simple things to do that don't require a lot of fancy button work.
Offsetting parts by half a space at the top of your Corvette will allow you to mesh parts over all of those units

You can see in the picture of the top of the three Medusa reactors. The one in the middle is turned around. Allowing it to be placed in between the two facing forward

Those anomaly parts that look like a barnacle emitting a beam of light. No idea what they're called, but they do good at creating light. However, they hover slightly off the surface.

I honestly don't know what the stats mean but I was told the bigger the number the better.
I cant seem to increase the damage potential. Unfortunately the supercharged slots are all over the place.

try hiding the reactors
and try using different thrusters
as in have them not all be the same one
and maybe try adding some different cowling on top to make it look less flat
So it, begins the Anomalous corvette, I saw, I have been obsessed about, (that I have about 20 screen caps of) I have started my own take on it, now that I have figured out how.

as a related aside, I love dissecting "how did they do that", yes I was a terror with a screwdriver to my toys as a child
oh just for discord record i figured out what the issue is with the camera. its an issue with the decorative piece called Storage Panel. those cant be placed anywhere on the back of the corvette inbetween the cockpit and the 3rd person camera or the camera will be bouncing around all over the place.
Change some of the thrusters to the square ones, maybe round out the front corners a little

To me, the reactors aren't an issue nor are the engines. Overall, I like the industrial feel of your corvette. The problem(?) is your front parts don't go well together. I suggest you play around with different cowlings, diffusers, etc... until all the pieces mesh together better. Don't be afraid to try some offset building. Also, don't be afraid of color or gloss. They can make a huge impression. Final suggestion... have fun!

a very nice rebuild of the Mandalorian Gauntlet.
Someone asked how big corvette builds can get in comparison to your base. This is my crab sonoshee next to a a Portal on a world i was visiting. It´s a 100 part build which is the max with no mods.
The corvette build area in space stations is 15 habitat walkways wide and length wise you have 1 exit ramp 6 normal habs of 2 x 1 then 1 hab walkway and then lastly a cockpit because that's the max lengthwise. I added some screen caps of a corvette i built in creative to measure it as well.
To me the Habitat walks ways are slightly larger than 1 base floor tile so that should be your measurement for comparison

Here's my riff on the turbofan wing build. Using essentially the same build as last pic, just changing the front wing and cockpit location, changes the vib entirely. From a scout ship, previous build, to a hunter/killer.
So, are short range teleporters broke in corvettes? Mine does not work. Lol

It'll take quite a bit of effort in blender, I'm sure. Most of it boils down to removing excess habs. Then the next issue is making the interior and bridge more seamless and polished.
i absolutely hate making interiors but i can use some mods that lets me put base parts like base teleporters n stuff

Most of them, no. That was one area I could fix without an issue. But the bridge and structural habs I struggled to fix because of where they're buried
thought so, i deleted most of them and replaced them with a few parts
If the short range teleporter worked, I could remove so many more because I wouldn't need stairs.

Red is the main hull of the ship. Blue are two forward facing wings that are elongated, yellow are two backwards facing wings, elongated.

Not to throw a grenade at the fantastic @tawny helm and @abstract crow... but, I'm starting to feel uneasy about these super big builds made possible via Blender. They can cause a lot of problems for other players in the Anomaly.
While I trust @tawny helm and @abstract crowto not bring their creations there, what other players? Will they show restraint or will Anomaly be someday filled with trolls ruining NMS for others?
In addition, Blender builds really don't fit the spirit of corvette building, which is to be creative with the available parts. If Hello Games continues to allow this, where does this leave the game as a whole? It's one thing to design custom textures but developing ships never intended to be flown in this game is something else entire.
It's the ame thing with bases though. People didn't start using Blender in NMS when corvettes came out. They had already been using it for years.
Also scaled up decorations carry a much softer load. Compared to Corvette parts you can have massive scaled up decorations at a fraction of the cost to your system and those around you. Because the size of decorations does not increase system cost.
Now when someone just turns off build limits and jams 350+ corvette parts together......that's really bad.
Think of building your corvette like you're making a box. The parts make the outside.

As much as I love and respect the idea of how limitations can actually help creativity, I don't think we can just assume or universally define what the spirit of corvette building is. Within the editor, sure. But overall, a lot of the spirit of the game is to NOT have prescribed things to do and you find what you like to do in this sandbox.
There are also some sorely missing types of parts, like covers or caps. Especially along the bow-stern axis, most parts don't fit together and don't fully cover cover habs under them.
Finally, there's more here than just building corvettes for the game. HelloGames made an incredible system of building a ship with "decorative" exteriors, functional components, and furnishable interiors - and all stored as essentially plain-text code of merely position data - not a care in the world about snapping points or other limitations. Those guides so that anyone can building something interesting - the code doesn't actually care how the parts are arranged.
I could be wrong, but this seems unprecedented to me. I searched for ship builds on Starfield and some other games and the possibilities (even if you do use the Base Editor or Blender) in No Man's Sky beats them. Only meticulous block-based builders like Space Engineers can beat NMS. The only part/piece-based builder I know of that was anywhere near this powerful was Spore.
All this to say, even people who don't care to actually play the game could use NMS just to build ships in way impossible before. I've had a certain spaceship design that I drew as a teenager that is very special to me because I ended having a vivid dream seeing it and commanding it.
With NMS, I can finally build it, bigger and better than in Spore, see an awesome 3D model of it, go INSIDE and furnish it, and even fly it. It's a literal dream come true. ❤️
People have been trolling since the launch of the game, blender has been used for bases for a long time.
The anomaly part I can agree with but it’s not like people haven’t been ”trolling” in there since way before corvettes came out, getting people stuck in a hole they can’t get out of for example.
I really hope it's fairly trivial for HelloGames to just make a new area for corvettes.
Console players can take the existing interiors. PC players dock outside the space stations at minimum just like the added dock on freighters.
With the service bot it's not an issue of wether it's pc or not, it's wether you import stuff from blender or not

Otherwise, I know it's more about about complexity, but I've mainly heard the sufferers being console players, which is why I said that might be the easiest split.
But again, I'm just saying the general idea. Need a separate area so that problematic corvettes don't affect those can be affected, and then we can all enable multiplayer and enjoy corvette ogling. 😄

You should check the editor in Kerbal Space Program. Beats the crap out of any editor on the market, especially with the Hangar Extension and EEX mods.
You can simulate headlights by rotating your engine forward. Not exactly the same but still gives a really good visual effect
Then there's also decorative lights. Like those square emergency lights you get from derelict freighters. They make really good headlights for Corvettes.
But as far as projecting light forward so we can see things easier in front of us we don't have anything like that yet. It's pretty much just visual aesthetics
During my raids on derelict freighters I haven't found anything like an emergency light that I could take with me. I'll check next time.
Rotating engines? I'm still trying to figure out how to circumvent the (way too) strict building rules.
These are the items you can get from derelict freighters for decorations. You can only get them from the square boxes. Not the lockers or small containers.

That's a list of a bunch of different videos that will show you how to rotate your Habs, turn it 90°, offset ift by half a space and other tricks

Pretty much all the tricks in that list are super simple to do. Doesn't require any fancy button work like a lot of the base build tricks/glitch methods

How to choose which of 2 landig bays is default? I built second under corvette's nose and it came as default.
Anyone ever just watch what happens with the "double parking" at the anomaly? I mean the stacking of ships inside of each other, and since ships are often invisible when that happens often players get trapped inside a different ship than their own and unwillingly becomes a hitch hiker. Is there a solution for that?
Your default landing Bay that you teleport up to from the planet is whichever one is closest to the terrain at the time.
So if you have one access ramp on the bottom floor and one on a top floor it's likely going to default to that bottom access ramp each time.
If you are hovering over a hill and you have two access ramps on the same level you will teleport up to whichever access ramp is higher up the hill. Closest to the ground.
On previous corvette it wasn't nearest
This is just a byproduct of multiple people entering the anomaly at once before the system recognizes there are no more pads to land on. So it will land two ships on top of each other. Sometimes more.
This has been a problem for years with legacy ships. But it was never an issue because when you get out of the you spawn next to your ship. And just walk away. You don't get stuck inside of it like with Corvettes.
Hopefully with Corvettes they see the need to address the issue.
Are you talking about teleporting from the surface? Yeah I had the same, rebuilt my corvette for a different reason and now I spawn beneath my cockpit as well.

I'm trying to upgrade my Corvette for damage and maneuverability. I have 6 phase cannons mounted on the Corvette that you can see in the editor. But then when you go look at the technology slots, it only shows three phase cannons but I expected to see six. Why is that?
You'll only see at most three added to the tech slot for any part. Cannons are meh for damage anyways. Beam lyfe

Yeah. Personally, I'd love for there to be a real in game market place feature where players could sell and buy blueprints of corvettes. But, pre-built ships gets a strong no from me. We should always have to build them from the landing gearon up.

Some people don’t got the time for a build my Milano ship took a good 2 hours to make how I wanted and even now one of the thrusters doesn’t (visually show it’s on) the blue thrusters so it looks wonky but I haven’t played in a while

Most people just build the basics of what they feel they need. Very few go in depth.
Aesthetic builders, blenders and glitch builders are a really niche community when you talk about the size and how few people do that stuff
If someone wants to build an exact replica (minus the size) of a Star Destroyer on console, they can't. The only way they can enjoy a ship like that is with a delivery. Any exact replica that requires blender is the same. That's the perks of being able to get ships delivered. Sure, building your own is fun and all, but having at least one proper replica is great. Even I have a 1:1 Star Destroyer to live out my fantasies. I could never even dream of building one even with a guide. I don't have the time

If you land your corvette at the anomaly, swap it out for one of your regular ships, and then wait till all the corvette pads ares full, and then switch your docked ship to the corvette, you can have it on a normal landing pad

They are not actually in the game files anywhere. They have not been uploaded into the game. Like they are just a placeholder so when they do inject them into the game they already have a place to go.
It's like the Aeron parts. They were not in the game files until they updated the game for the breach expedition. Nobody could use them before they did that

Im always a fan of corvettes that have space for windows
~6 Ambassador habs up on the second level for crew deck (Still trying to find a chair that you can actually sit in that I can build), and like 8 Titan Habs below on the main deck.
and she's all I fly, because I've run into a few of those derelict wreck freighters that have actual internal space where you go in and get at cargo cans like it's a ground-wreck in addition to the floating pods.
The smallest ship I built was probably three habs (and a few blocks) long, two habs high, and riddled with style.
and here's how to tell you've got internal cargo cans - if the derelict is in fairly intact shape, but has a hole blown into it, you've got the usual four spots inside the hull to grab cargo cans.

I'm on the fence about that. On one hand, it'd be great to be able to do more, especially when working on a corvette inspired by Star Wars.
But, on the other hand, the current complexity limit benefits the game as a whole. No one wants a flying DDOS attack in their game.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I like how the "hamster cheek" ones look.
I like all the windows, I would have them everywhere, but if you want your corvette to have the sides, front, and/or back to be anything but flat, its really hard to use windows in a way that looks nice
A lot of the really detailed corvettes lack windows for that reason
Oh and since they count as a wall module, smaller corvettes often either have windows and practically no modules, or modules but no windows

That's pretty great whether a first, 3rd or 10th Corvette, the Arcadia Heavies are notoriously a pain to design cohesively around. From the rear, in my opinion the rear looks repetively busy, but not overwhelmingly so. I would personally swap, the 2 lowest Radiator ducts for 2 Radiator Casings , but that is me. I got them positioned such that they blend in with minimal clipping

I see your on PC steam so my first piece of advice is to make sure you're not using TAA Anti Aliasing settings and set the right Anti Aliasing for your GPU (FSR AA for AMD and and DLSS / DLAA for Nvidia) also when take pictures in Photomode always use F12 on steam. Move the sun around to light the areas you want help on by moving the mouse around and hitting F in photomode.
No mans sky with default TAA and left click takes pictures that look blurry and the anti aliasing especially on sharp edges looks like stairs.
I don't like the radiators by the windows as it looks out of place and you have way to many at the back; i would consider putting sharper Arcadia blades, or any of the Supercruise / argonaut aerofoils near the windows or use something like the speedbird diffusers for a more round look.
You really want the front of the ship to be as smooth as possible for whatever look you go for so their is minimal maneuverability penalty you even want weapons as hidden as possible but if you don't mind the speed penalty then ignore that advice.
For me the back is too busy with radiators, i would put more smoother decorations behind the rockhoppers, make sure the Arcadia Heavy boosters along with the Kineostream Thruster are the first placed as anything beyond three boosters will become decorations and not apply to stats and Twin echo jets are generally weaker for maneuverability.
Instead of the radiators on the back of the habs you could use Hull Decorations like Arcadia Blade, Arcadia Stabilizer or anything in the hull decoration to build that area out.
IF you don't have pieces you can always switch crafting to free in settings and change it back when you're done

when i delete the twin jets the manoeuvrability goes up but when i add them back its goes down, how do i fix this
delete all the twin echo jets, apply the edits , check the engines you want are in the tech slots and then do new edits and add those back, save the edits and you should just have the bigger engines in tech slots

You would have to find a planet or moon that says salvageable scrap, farm some parts, and then trade them at the corvette terminal for better ones.
Or set crafting to free in the difficulty settings build your corvette and then turn it off again
My only opinion is that the cockpit and the window above it should trade places

Mitey not sure how to solve this problem. Just managed to add two big thrusters to go along with the other mini thrusters attached.. but then not sure how to make the thruster look integrated. Right now.. it looks like its hanging loose?

Basically I have a gun behind a gun and this makes my shooting at salvage containers more accurate, but if "real" physics were involved (which it obviously isn't), the gun in the rear would be shredding the gun in front when it fires.

I used heavy scaffolding on my permadeath corvette to make the dang azimuth reactors look properly supported. So theyre clipped into it

Yeah. You may be able to look around the floor in the build area while you're in build mode and see the outline of something under the floor. Or when you hover over it with the cursor you will see it's shape outlined in the floor.

I finally made a Firebox corvette. I used only parts which fit. Firebox cowlings, engine covers, etc... Not exactly a stellar performer like an Aeron build I still think it's cool looking.

Blender /builder people, do you ever encounter this issue where the interaction icon on a resized cockpit just wont show up? -_- ive tried placing the cockpit everywhere and it just wont show the icon to actually get into the cockpit, like itll rather show me the expanding gadget interaction from the other side of the ship than the cockpit right next to me

yes, but anything more "vertical" is either going to involve, exporting your save, and app building int to get parts rotated that don't rotate easily, or do the super finicky rotation in game.
ex:
I tried to see if it can even be built proportionally in the area that the game allows us, and yes, it can physically be built

and I can't take credit for the design, I wish I knew who I could credit, (blame for my obsession)
and I have to say, after playing around in Creative building a corvette with 224 parts, with the entire palatte available to me, it was kind of awesome having the constraints of the Expedition again.
I think some of the most creative builds are the pure vanilla ones that people manage to look good.
They have to work within the constraints and confined rules that limit their creativity.
That's why I don't install mods and the only glitch I've used is offseting
It's more fun with constraints
It's like if you have two sculptors work on similar stones. And you give one a hammer and chisel. While the other gets a full workshop and an apprentice.
Sure the one with a full kit will be more detailed. But it forces the other to be extremely creative in their design. Since they have less to work with
I think there are different definitions and avenues of creativity, because you can have all the kit in the world, and have something look like jumbled washed out nothing. Constraint is still there, the question is how and who applies it.
Even within the confines of Vanilla, we could stick at least one of every engine on a build, but we don't because it'd look a hot mess.
but I do agree, I want to know, and I am also very up front with the "built using mods, and exported saves" because sculpting is different than painting, and even within painting, painting with watercolor, is different than painting with oils and pastels, (which allows sculpting and textures water color does not) the tools are important
I know it looks terrible but I'm new to the game so it's gonna have to do the job for now 😭
If it works it works, one of my favorite things is building a terrible looking Corvette when I start a save and slowly upgrade it
Maybe take that ambassador heavy booster off and wait to make the ship bigger though

I think one of the Alien races in Star Citizen has a ship that could have a similar silhouette. but as WSZF points out, it just works, anything that works, just does. and I love NMS narrative conceit for why.
