I tried this and it let's you place it and use it, but there's like a 50% you'll fall through the floor when you walk into it
Running around in the large empty section and looking through the gaps I still need to fix.
You have to basically cover it in parts to manually fix all the collision gaps
all the more reason why I recommend the supercomputer by Gumsk. Good lord you don't wanna fall out just tryin to do your space job!
Same issue with any other freighter parts on corvettes
I will admit they did manage to patch well so that if I go down the stairs I don't fall out at warp anymore
There's only two large ones near the engine's and they're only visible in third-person or by jumping.
That alone made me very happy! Now super productive while at warp
I try not to use mods that add or change functionality. I'm fine with beyond base building because technically everything you can do with it, including on corvettes, can be done with glitches
I was that way too sir. then you come to over time start to trust certain mods 🙂 I am cnvinced at some point they will add this functionality into corvettes.. just not out the door
I mean even if they do, my freighter will still be better because of the hyperdrive range and how it skips pirate and freighter fights

every captain has his own process. if it works for you then more power to ya! I use my freighter as a bookmark these days.

Mitey go out exploring. finds a system he liked and wants more info on.. warps in freigter. Heads home to do stuff and then warps back to freigter so as to not lose place.

Also my freighter has a lot of sentimental value. It's S class that I got before super charged slots were added, and when they added sc slots, I got insanely lucky and ended up with a 3+1 combo

only when you are in space station iirc. (not anomaly or any planet surface). The landing pad in space station let you place pretty much anything on the ship anywhere. but the ship modules have wonky surface so it would be hard to attach things on the exterior

I know the Atlas-style corvettes are no longer "in vogue" as it were, but there's still some interesting design techniques to unlock in those parts.
I can share it, probably. Cons - tunnel interior, no windows. Waiting until we can slap windows on the roofs.

See, that's what I mean. It looks cool, but you can't normally do that. Nor can you put an engine on the back pylon. You need a structural block in there, at an offset no less. And you can't even take that block out later because the wing piece completely covers its hitbox.
you'd be brave for trying that if you dont have much time in the corvette builder in the first place
you're no doubt gonna need complexity remover mod if you want a good shape
But once you do all that, it looks cool. If you use a walkway for the structural piece, you can even mount decoratives to it sideways (e.g. the missile launchers I have on there).

Hey look, I'll never need to go back to RSI again.
My new Corvette has 18k DPS with just photon cannon and I tested it out Vs pirates and they got melted.
I popped an anomaly finder and didn't know you could get these outside of the expedition.
Folks, this is a sort of small "luxury" dining space in the passenger corvette I've designed. The issue, of course, is hit boxes, and once you've sat down? You're stuck. Any suggestions on what to turn this into INSTEAD?

I've unlocked most of the stuff you can with salvaged data, or at least the decorative stuff. Apart from the cups, are there any bottles or things I can decorate a corvette bar with?

The dreadnought/freighter despawns immediately if you left the cockpit UNLESS you already finished off the pirates
But at that point you just get stuck with the class it has ever since you jumped to the system

The proper way is to load the save BEFORE you jump to the system

So where can I start building a corvette?

You can sell anything to the Corvette building station. Just go into parts purchasing and when the screen pops up you get the sell option
So if you just needing to sell off some stuff you don't have to go all the way to the back of the station for the trade terminal.
It’s not usually the first thing to be thought of, sometimes I’m convinced people don’t know the parts cache exist either

As long as you go through your inventory and transfer items you can stick stuff in there
and im convinced something will happen to them because when i hear cache i think of something that is cleared every once in a while
I keep common items that are desirable by guild donations. Such as pirate transponders, exosuit maps and others in there
And since it's the same inventory in every Galaxy and every space station you can fill it up with trade goods if you don't have enough inventory space in your ship. And then pick up those goods at a station that you want to sell it to. At that station
I might stick gifts in there too
Really good during trade surges. You can just fly around the Galaxy filling up that cache. And then go to the station that's having the trade surge, pick everything up and sell it off

Why not just use a freighter for storage? You can access it from anywhere as long as you have the matter beam tech installed
Also is it better to sell to pilots Isntead of booking it to the trade terminal? Apparently the pilots pricing aren’t affected
My freighter is typically full of common use items and build items I need to call down on planets. Not a whole lot of inventory space for a lot of trade goods
I fill my freighter with starship fuel and what not
Yeah. Selling only to the pilot will not crash the economy. So you can keep selling them stuff for the entire 3 hours of the surge. For maximum value

Ho on planets with salvagable scrap
If you already have a small corvette, go to the planet's surface and set autopilot to "maintain flight course"
Then, while your corvette is flying and you're inside, use your analysis visor to locate salvagable tech modules, tag them, get back into your corvette's seat and shoot at them

not sure about other parts but you can get all your storages in there, refining room and plants
Stand next to the corvette cache, go to your exosuit inventory, click on an empty spot to activate quick transfer, select corvette cache
I need some help with my corvette. Any suggestions on how to make it look less like a box? I think I've finally gotten the rear view to look reasonable (kind of), but I'm stuck on that boxy shape from the top-down view.
Depends on the base part as some are now removed due to being able to corrupt your save file and instability but in general most decoration you can use; multiple plants might not render right from what i've seen others post

The transfer glitch might work (the one where you confuse the system into letting you open the base build menu on the corvette) or it might corrupt your save.
Speaking of glitches, which ones do you allow on the corvette? I'm okay with anything that you can do with the true corvette build menus (though I'm too inept for the arbitrary rotation glitches)
You can place one on there as decoration but you cannot wire it up. Just like the short-range teleporter there's no options to wire them for power or connect them together.
Also when placing base or freighter parts onto your Corvette place some and then take it for a test or flight. Many of those parts break physics of your Corvette and cause it to slam into invisible walls. Spinning out of control. So if that happens to you you need to delete something you just build

For real, it took like almost 10 minutes to render this thing when he arrived
im not sure why, but it let me merge the reactor, weapons, and thrusters under the cockpit for this tiny ship

Yeah and in the process a few people in the anomaly probably crashed out. While players on weaker systems were suffering frame loss badly.
Those things are cool. But they need to keep them out of the anomaly.
Aura farming is stupid if you're jacking up other people's game doing it
It's because of the rockhopper wings. They have various snap points at both the regular spot and a halfway point. Allowing you to wedge mini parts in a small space by using them
When connected to the right side of the ship they have 3 normal snap points. Went on the left side of the ship there are 3 normal and 2 set at half way
When you put them on opposing sides you're creating three snap points in the same space that can be used separately.
that would make sense, i know how to offset but at one point i deleted the reactor and couldnt get it to snap back, with the wings on
If you rotated a hab backwards and stuck the rockhopper wings in the same spots you would be able to create another three snap points.
Wedging even more stuff under your ship. And you can delete the hab and rockhoppers after
even more middling high-end systems still get a lot of fps drop/stutters from those kinds of corvettes
I had to keep avoiding anomaly for a time even with my system because it got hard to navigate to do just basic stuff

Your storage containers are not static like that
They are the same containers on your bases and freighter. Wherever you access storage #3 the contents will always be the same.
Think of your storage containers like cloud storage. The containers are just there so you can access that # storage on the cloud
i don't got any storage containers on a base yet, so if i delete the bays in my habs and reinstall them on the new layout everything should be there, right?
I have heard them described as "ender chests" in case you know about those
that makes sense lmao
Also if you name a storage container as something specific that name will be seen at any location you build the container.
And labeled as such in the build menu at the top. This allows you to swap containers on your Corvette for what you need in the moment. Instead of having every container built on your Corvette at once

Use 1 container as a Load out chest. All your essentials. From most common element/minerals to tech parts and things like maps. Saves time having your most used stuff in one container at easy access.

All of the slots where I put in upgrades are taken by different parts I attached to my corvette.
My hyperdrive range is like 100 (oof).
Take out some upgrades and fix your adjacency
Also yes, Corvettes have virtually no hyperdrive bonus if you don't have the right reactors installed
On an unrelated note, this is the ship I am going to finally get the permadeath achievement

They have to be connected to a hab or other parts on the bottom
with a mod that allows you to put base building things down.. and yes as Zarkan said.. you need to put it on a surface like a hab that is connected

oh i thought the way you do it is by placing a small poster underneath first then build a large one on top so the top one gets leveled. As the poster stacks only when your cursor is pointing at another existing poster
Yeah there's a point of shrinking a poster where it will disappear into the floor. But if you go just a little bit bigger than that it just becomes a placeholder
And I didn't just make the bottom poster bigger. I duplicated the bottom poster and made that bigger. So there are two there

Anything over 3 of a certain part are purely cosmetic
that only applies to non reactors since reactors are specialized for different systems you can have more if you have the space

Hello guys, I have a question, I build a gigantic pirate ship corvette but it ended up so big that when I try to go 3rd person in it the back of the ship completely blocks off my view. Is there any way to zoom out the 3rd person camera more so that I can see the whole ship?
there is no zooming out or in, at least not without mods

Is it possible to upgrade my corvette with e.g. Pulse drive upgrades, like the normal ships can be. Because the stats of normal vanilla corvette is abysmal. Also, can you expand its cargo and technology slots like normal ships?

Just got a pair of the ambassador heavy boost engines for the first time. I really like the look of them versus most of the other heavy boost engines. This is my result.
I managed to bury three reactors and two aeron class shields in the hull connectors.

why did the manoeuvrability drop from ~3700 down to ~3200 over night? i noticed this on my other corvettes too. sometimes its more and sometimes less. i know about the bug that mixes the modules in corvettes but this one was the one i logged off with and all modules are where i put them yesterday.
On my main Corvette I can swap around Tech to get maneuverability to 4300. But when I log out and come back in or summon a different ship and then bring that one back it's maneuverability drops to 3100.
It's like when you're in the Corvette editor or you're moving around Tech it makes bad calculations based on where you place stuff. But when you reload it corrects it
I spent a while trying to make that higher number stick. But I gave up. It just doesn't last past a reload or re-summon
i tested my topspeed in space with the 3700 yesterday and again today with 3200.. nothing changed. not sure if i hit a cap but it sounds like you're right, the higher value might be a wrong calculation then, hm.

Yep. Just a visual bug misrepresenting the numbers you see. Because I noticed no difference either between the top number and bottom number when it comes to how the craft handles
And as long as you get it over 3,000 you're good. Over 3500 the speed gains are negligible. And it just becomes more and more squirrely.
another question: why do the module parts have different stats and how can i select the better ones when building a corvette? i got 3 medusa gens but only one has +15% maneuverability.
Degrading stat returns depending on how many you have of one type. With a cap at three parts.
The first one you put down you get 100% of its stats. The next one you put down is 80% and then the next one you put down is 60%. Rough numbers

i used two layers this time, top layers are only the small habs, though, and you can still put builds in them, it will be the upper deck bunks I guess

Place a save point on the wall before placing the bed. And place a couple Health Restoration units on the wall before placing the med Bay
You then have to activate the bed to save your game and the med station to get health.

i best ship is two habs long with only one hab offset on either side and two docking bay access points. I tried the elevator access point but didn't like it long term

Yep. Can access them through the object you place in front of them as long as they are in range. Can also access stuff on your top and bottom floors. Just by looking through the floor or the ceiling.

My bottom hab unit contains all of my storage units. But I don't have a way into it. I just look at the floor where one of the units is when I need something.

in the previous expedition corvette I had all planters and nip growing - part of the gig. but it was a neat set up- I mean I put the bunk and med units in in hopes you heal faster with one onboard

The only weapon I have in my Corvette is the phase beam and the tech modules associated.
I had enough on mine, even for a second and 3 trails.
The more weapon options you have the less space you have for other useful Tech
I only use photon cannon.

With how powerful the weaponry of the Corvettes are extra shielding is just not necessary. Especially if you use a phase beam because it recharges your shield as you damage them
I like phase beams for asteroids, infraknife for salvage, and photon cannon for everything else

Who needs an access ramp when you can just jump out the side?
I just go photon cannon even when I'm only using 2 guns I ended up with 18k DPS with power to weapons mode.
I wish we could attack a door on the side of the ship so we can make ships that work like the Halo Phantoms.
Also when it comes down to it if you're pushing for maximum maneuverability you really don't need to shoot for over 4k. If you have enough Tech to get you to somewhere between 3,000 and 3,500 you're just fine

Over 3,000 maneuverability the speed gains are barely noticeable. And you just adding more and more turning capability to your ship. Which results in it becoming too squirrely to control proper

Does anyone know how to connect two habs that have 180 degree rotation (one facing forward and the other one facing backwards). I've seen it in the anomaly so it is possible
I went all out photon cannon and it's good. I only got 2 weapons and still with 2 super slots I achieve 18k with weapon boost.

The specific trick you're looking for is at the 1 min mark on that video. And it's a real simple 1>2>3 step process to do.
It basically involves putting down a cockpit, a hab and then an access ramp with another hab behind it. And then shifting the middle hab over your access ramp. Meshing them together.
Once you see it on the video it'll make sense. Can easily replicate it yourself

Why would you need to do that? Can't you just nest habs to have 2 connected habs, attach whatever, and then delete the reverse-hab?

That one is how you offset your build pieces by half a square. Very useful for meshing parts together

That's using flip 180 to turn a hab around into another hab. And then using the access ramp trick on both sides to open up the ends of that hab
So it's the 180 method combined with the open-ended hab method twice
I still wonder why you'd need to do that, but wonderful that it can be done!
Flipping Habs around allows you to place exterior Corvette parts in reverse position. And it's the only way to do that with many of the parts because they don't allow you to rotate them a full 180°
But when you do that your Habs will not connect together. Only if they're facing the same way. So you have to glitch the doors on the ends to stay open if you expect a backwards hab.
I myself just delete the hab that's backwards once the exterior parts are in place. Just using the backwards hab as a placeholder until the rest is in place.

We begged for years to get proper base part rotational mechanics. And I'm surprised they didn't give it to us in corvettes. Knowing full well we would endlessly bug them about it.

Swap around your a class booster with that Tech that's above your pulse drive. You should get more maneuverability out of that swap. Essential Tech usually meshes better with whatever it is boosting

That C-Class shield upgrade is more of a space waster than anything beneficial. It's such a small bonus you can use it for something else
Like if you have the proper landing thrusters on your Corvette you don't even need the tech for auto refueling your landing gear. It comes pre-equipped in your Corvette landing thrusters

I also keep the aquajets unpacked and in Corvette inventory. If I ever need to land on water I just swap it out for a bobblehead

build a ship one gear one hab - fit all sorts of weaponses and shields THEN edit the extra habs and gears on
the habs have priority
and will push out other stuff first

The tech modules didn't shift around on you? They have a habit of randomizing themselves if you use a different ship and then reload your Corvette
Nah , all my stats keep going down and it’s annoying me as it’s turning my ship into a flying turd
Can you post a picture of your Tech layout?
I'm getting a better idea of just which activities mess with my tech layout, and there are quite a few. For example, summoning a different ship at a station or in the anomaly will scramble the tech layout.
I replaced the rock hopper wing with the hover peice with this as I had the annoying thing with only one on and didn't want to mess around.

Here's a quick lesson on building your corvette vertically. Shout out to u/Bjorkledorq, The first person i could find that posted a guide.
There used to be a method to make your Corvette build vertically by building in your settlement base area. But they took that away in the last update. It was extremely unstable.
This method in the video still works. But it can be annoying to get it just right and center how you want it to be. Takes some trial and error.
But it does work. That's how I got those vertical boosters.
If you're going to do it make sure the Corvette you use has the Titan access ramp. And use the light and triangle decal on the roof to line yourself up. But be aware that the light and the decal are slightly to the left of center of the craft. So you want to do this trick slightly to the right to center it
