What I assume is bb has kind of 'placement match' for first few games of the year, giving huge amount of skill rating

And start giving 🥀 amount after that

your skill is represented as a normal distribution

the standard distribution of that distribution gets lower as the system is more confident about your skill level

and the displayed skill rating is the 95th percentile of skill in your distribution

therefore if you play against someone who is a lot better than you in your first match, the distribution will get significantly tighter (pulling your 95th percentile rating up) and also the mu will go up a lot

you want to hit enemies with it when they're heavily Afflicted but you also want to charge them with high affliction too
