I think we have some good reasons to kill every soldier there, i think it makes sense for them to do that, both from the narrative and from the player's history
i do however NOT think that this action was what the player "had" to do to survive, which is also what makes it understandable for tasim to be mad at us for killing them
to suggest we had no other choice (in the narrative) as multiple people here have suggested, is very black and white
what i fail to understand is what i said to make you think i was thinking of it in a black and white way

a lot of it boils down to luck too, sometimes they only come 1-2 at a time, but even if not immediately you WILL get mogged by 6+ at once on a narrow ledge no matter how careful you are

when your target is a sealed-in market full of civilians with some mallcops, the biggest issue is taking the hostages quickly and blocking the ways in and out in such a way the very much split and panicked defenders can't get in to retake without extreme losses themselves
