They are in the void below the Realm of Dern, so the laws of physics are different.

A hole in reality, something which is the absence of something, can move, think, and act.

The Void is naturally empty, presumably you aren't supposed to get to it, but the Fracturing somehow dumped half the Sky Islands into strata of the Void and Greg has been grabbing physicality to drag to Dern.

orphion has an excellent design but isnt actually used at all in the story, but i think the actual issue is that the current rol story demands that both lari and orphion be utterly useless, otherwise stuff would have just been solved forever ago. needs a total rewrite from someone not afraid to write actual nuance and leave things not said explicitly. i do enjoy realm of light, it just takes 4x longer than it needs to just to end up delivering a weaker story than it could. like if i were to summarize the story to someone it would be quite compelling it just falls apart in the moment to moment repetition imo, things like the dullahan story have absolutely excellent potential. give that story to whoever the hell wrote hollow serenity and we get a new top 3 quest

If you want to keep orphion useless for some reason without making him borderline a plot hole ig you could focus on showing that the parasite is making him only have brief moments of lucidity where he can influence small things, but simply not enough time to change lari's convictions, or something, idk. I wanna like orphion but it's like the story doesn't know how to handle him rn

if i could change anything about the silent expanse, id add more written records/glyphs to the city. I understand that it is supposed to be mysterious, but i feel like adding a few records of daily life or olmic civilization could help make it feel more real rather than set dressing

So for RoL, I've thought of a few simple fixes that I think would make the whole thing way better.

The first and easiest one I can think of is that the parasite or something else blocked everyone in Gavel from hearing Orphion, so none of the people who could kill the parasite could receive a message, and we're the first human that is both strong enough and has the right values that happened to be near Lari, so he can establish a link.

I think the best way to do that is make clear that orphion doesnt really get what 'repeating itself' would be useful for

Lari as a character is defined by her flaw of digging herself deeper. She repressed her emotions so much because she feels that's the 'correct' way a chosen of Orphion should act. Orphion forced her to kill to prove herself and it traumatized her, and she convinced herself that was a one time thing, and so long as Orphion is giving her power that means her pacifism is the right choice. Orphion meanwhile doesn't recognize how hard mortals go into denial and figures she'll just... get it eventually. Which is dumb, but he doesn't exactly interact much with anyone, so it makes sense he doesn't get how people can't just learn a lesson one time and always stick to that forever and never go back on themselves

Is there some link between Orphion and the eye? Idk anything about wynn lore but part of the track that plays in the lootroom for NoL sounds like genesis of the end so I got curious. I honestly don't even know what the eye is so I'd be curious to know abt that too

ok so you know how orphion is the embodiment of light (the light beast), there's also the embodiment of dark (the dern beast), and ofc they don't really like each other. basically the dern beast yoinked out one of its own eyes and slapped it in the silent expanse to watch over the province of wynn. which is why the dungeon is called "eldritch outlook" and the boss is the eye.

I know it's for gameplay reasons, but a world where every region comes with its own set of huge mountain ranges surrounding it is interesting. It makes every country super easily defendable, and limits trade between regions.
