well seeing as this is the lore channel and it's being flooded with anything but, I'll just put an outer void theory here

From the Archaic Writing rare item from outer void, we learn that colossi are linked with the canyon they reside in, and that they're used to "transmutation", aka transforming from one to another, likely interchanging the land they use to make up their body with other land in the canyons they overlook. maybe that is a way they could also heal any damage done to itself by shifting around the canyons to regain lost parts.
So the theory is, what if as the ahms colossus shattered the ahms region and it and the canyon crumbled into the void, that connection still remained, and it is trying to repair itself? The outer void itself is made up of the colossus' torso surrounded by rocks and rubble, in higher concentration near the torso, all of its dismembered parts (arms, weapon, head) are within close proximity. Maybe whatever weird canyon magic mechanism was left remaining in TAC is trying to repair itself as a last and return to the gavel province, repair the ahms region even if it looks a bit more purple, to be the second "protector of gavel", as the TCC intro title calls the TCC
