you could i think
Basically give him the seat in 1990 (instead of Berger) or 1994
You could've done so, but even if he was way faster than himself with them off, he would be slower than everyone else because they're just OP
Shame that guy didnt get his full potential
Death by testicular cancer. What a shame....
Oh yeah? I always thought it was a bone cancer since he had back pain, but apparently this back pain is a symptom of the testicle cancer in an advanced (but still curable) stage
Thats Adrian Neweys first F1 car that he designed isnt it
For F1, yes
Ah, the good old fight between Newey and Brawn
He worked with Brawn on the 1986 Haas
Indy Car wasnt it
That is odd, Newey was involved with March in IndyCar by the mid-80's
I'm surprised he was allowed to co-operate with Lola in F1
hmmm
@round swift
page before says he's talking about Teddy Mayer
who reached out to him
Oh wow
That's cool
ye that's quite neat
Robin Herd being the technical director at March (and the h of the name), he knew that a british dude would want to work in F1
(obviously it comes from Newey's book, you should read it if you haven't done so already)
alfa
RenMcla
V12
marlboro alfa romeo
Wolf's idea of a fan car.
He was only 25 as well that time.
Newey? Maybe, what do you have in mind with this details?
niki lauda 1976 post race monza
Bonk
it wars scary
brundle lucky af to escape from that without serious head injuries
(idk team name)'s left rear tyre hit him in the head
he might have some injury to his head but i dont think it was serious
Sir Frank and Carlos Reutemann
I'm guessing this is from 1981
Don't tell me this was the 1981 Belgian GP when Siegfried Stohr hit Patrese's mechanic....
That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that photo
No wonder why it seems so familiar.
man... I really felt Stohr's pain when he reacted to the scene of the accident
i have started watching the vids from f1 tv from 1981. f, i would have coped with it better if i knew about it
but hey, its f1. i rather not spoil it
then they noticed he's standing on his feet?
no, then patrese stalled, his mechanic jumped on the circuit, went to the back of the car. then immediately the race started and the other arrows of Stohr hit the mechanic
but hey pretty good to see Frank like that
Jos Verstappen in the Benetton
there is this story about brundle. knocked his head on the tarmac. ran to the garage for the T car, got in it, asked what circuit he is at so he knew where to turn, right or left in the pitlane
lol ofc they didnt let him race after that
Yes, it was Newey. About the details, I'm currently reading his book and in the Indycar chapters (around Chapter 13-17) and I'm in the 18th one, there are some details there that just randomly stick to my mind.
ah ok, it's really a great book, obviously gets better by the time he joins Leyton House
(Which is... March basically)

Black
Beauty
beautiful
Hell yea! (even though Senna and Berger found the RA121E to be underpowered and heavy)
Ye honda shoulve stuck with the v10
At least the RA121E got that gradual increase in power throughout the 1991 season, as well as the reliability.
MP4/6 still a good car tho
It was reliable enough to win the title
The FW14 had more power (and a semi-automatic transmission, which Senna wanted)
That was unreliable for a good third of the campaign
The MP4/7 came out with a semi-auto box, Fly-By wire throttle actuators, and VVT
Like Honda busted it out for 1992
And uh... VTL
Sadly, McLaren didn't have the active suspension that year..
not to mention only 5 total wins for their 1992 campaign

And there's the 9
Which I also... Quite like
Jean-Pierre : Here we can see a slow engine thay comes from WEC
Ron: hmmm, ye i want that
I'm sure Mclaren would have performed better if they used Ford engines for another year, although I'm not sure how that would work out.
The Lambo V12 had more power than the Ford V8... but lacked the reliability
And people wanted the Lambos, but I wonde3r if Ron saw the downfall and sale of Lambo at that time
Wdym
well Lamborghini was sold by Chrysler in 1994 iirc to the Malaysian business group that was scam central
Yeah, so one thing you notice over the course of the Lamborghini Engine's runtime from 1989-1993 is the Chrysler logo getting bigger and bigger
Oh ye, but with Chrysler Lamborghini was profitable for the first time ever. Didn't know they sold in 94, thought it was later
It was in the period of 94-96
I'm just wondering if, having McLaren taken them on, either Lambo never be sold, Lambo got sold to McLaren, or the same would've happened, but Chrysler just badged it fully themselves
Ye, maybe McLaren would have gotten them and have not started from a clean sheet. Although by that time... The F1 road car was probably well underway
Bazarini engine instead of the BMW?
The McLaren F1 started production in 1993
That wasn't really what I meant
Ye sorry :3 what did you mean then?
Well like just from after the McLaren F1, McLaren and Lamborghini became like road divisions together
Because like... McLaren went to Mercedes with a car production with BMW's
So I'm sure that wouldn't be like, heresy
Clearly not
But basically, the reason why VWG have Lamborghini is because Chrysler sold it to a bunch of Malaysian brosephs who sold it off again after their back was against the wall coz it turns out they didn't actually have money
Ye I've seen a video about the story of the brand, but forgot when the malaysian thing happened
And Lambo used the same block until VW bought them right?
Lambo had derived all their road engines off of the original, Formula intended design, yes
Because that V12 was designed to rev to 11,000 like off the bat
Formula intended design? Ah yes the bazarini (think it's spelled this way) block was meant to go on a Ferrari
The original V12, afaik, was intended to be used for competition anyway, and so was built for 400hp and 11,000rpm
In like what? 1964?
Have some diffuser gorgeousness btw
I love these
Oh yeah, the MP4/5🅱️ did like the same thing
When the 3,464-cubic-centimetre (211.4 cu in) prototype was tested in 1963, it was able to produce 370 brake horsepower (276 kW; 375 PS) at 9,000 (rpm), or almost 107 brake horsepower (80 kW; 108 PS) per litre. Bizzarrini insisted the engine was mechanically capable of reaching 400 brake horsepower (298 kW; 406 PS) at 11,000 rpm with an uprated fuel system, but the design was judged adequate, and when fitted with production carburettors, all the auxiliary systems, and detuned for road use, the engine still made 280 brake horsepower (209 kW; 284 PS).
This one
Not bad at all for 1963
The F1 V12, the LE3512, was a completely different design
80°V too, interestingly enough
Ok was about to ask
So that'd be like an 80-40 interval
Would have been amazing if they could just take the engine of the road cars and make it f1 relevant, but unlikely come the 90s
They could the other way around doe
True. Isn't it Foghieri who made the 3512? I remember him being involved in the lambo f1 project somewhat
Dat diffuser
I much prefer the Lotus one doe, coz the McLaren one decided to group the inner 3 together
I'd love to put like Skirts on it
Anyway I'll... stop with the ideas coz that usually kills convos
Prost and Jabouille
Fun fact: This was for Benetton in 1992/3 but sike
didn't know Ford prepared a V12, why did they drop it?
It just idk... It was one of those things like the MP4-18, where everyone was like yes come on but was too much I guess for the time
Or evaluated as not worth it to be much better overall than the V8
So other than the 75°V12 VB, we had the 75°V8 Zetec-R
Isn't it just the cosworth engine ?
oh ok I thought he didn't knew at all that ford made engines in the past
What?
nvm
why ford no make v10
They did make V10's
oh
Or Minardi
like in the early 90s why they no make v10
Maybe Ford didn't have the money and resources available to create a V10 at the time
Ford-Cosworth were still using V8's everywhere else and also the HB series didn't exactly suck
The regs still allowed for the benefits that V8's provide over V10's with the 3.5L units
When Mclaren uses Peugeot engine

montoya and shumacher
oh yah
Jerez 1997
this was more likely the last race of 1997
Dunno
i think so
But Schumacher get disqualified from the championship in that year
lemme try to fit this as my phone wallpaper
looks good
Yes that's the last race of 97

THIS IS THE WORST START TO A GRAND PRIX....
you were meant to complete the quote
"This is the worst start to a Grand Prix I have ever seen in the whole of my life"
murray said that lol

2017 doesn't seem very classic does it now?
not really...
exactly
THE WORST YOU JUST CANT SEE

I still try to watch his commentary but I just cant anymore
same
man what a legend I might bring Muarry Walker in my F1 21 my team
reminds me of the 1994 Japanese Grand Prix
I still watch the 1996 pizza hut ad with Damon
And Hill finishes second, AGAIN!
I want to ask, did Zanardi only drop full season in 1999?
wdym drop full season?
Eifelland-March E2
hey i have a question for yall: what was the best driver of the 70s, bc from the start of the decade there was stewart and fittipaldi, then niki lauda and james hunt. there were also rindnt saldly passed away the year he won, andretti was strong in 1978 and also Scheckter in 1979 plus other ones i didnt mention
I'd assume Lauda or stewert
Although it wasn't peak, but Graham Hill could also be in contention depending on how you mean best
hmm, i'm gonna go with Lauda
Dang Lauda won WDC in two different decades, some longevity
So did Senna and Schumacher.
lauda had a really really good career. he could have won 76, coz he was the better driver, and tbh that brabham bt46B year
78 or 79.
78 i think. it was the year andretti and lotus won
or 79? one of those
Also two power houses, but I didn't think there was 9 years between Laudas first and last WDC
Same with Prost, come to think of it, minus one year.
Bathtub with wings.
best driver in the world
Wrong chat but also just wrong
you're the one who's wrong 😠
No

Best sounding f1 engine is the flat 12:change my mind
no, you're right.
Facts/stats don't lie
We can't argue about this, this is just fact, we must talk about the second best sounding engine
Which is?
V10
True
... Which V12 is best?
sorry for answering 1 day late but i also think its lauda, as you say he couldve won 76 but he didnt mainly because of crash
Unique footage! Michael Schumacher back in early 1996, testing for Ferrari.
One of the first tests with Ferrari, and here on Paul Ricard he is also presented as the new Ferrari driver to the press.
He's testing the 412T2 with the new V10 and the older 412T1B with the mighty V12.
Footage is from Eurosport with Dutch commentary. I do not own t...

oo that look clean without them sponsers
Yup
It's Tarquini!
What year was this?
Enjoy, the Leyton House CG901 from 1990
Leyton House was the former March, wasn't it?
Ye
Back in 1990, the fledgeling Leyton House squad had failed to qualify six times in as many races - so it came as a shock to the F1 world when their drivers Ivan Capelli and Mauricio Gugelmin ended up leading 1-2 at Circuit Paul Ricard! This is their story...

but yeah maybe not like spam as these pics are supposed to all be for high-quality pictures and discussions.
Vind what’s your favourite classic car

Oh boy they’re sexy
1991
God damn that’s so low
yeah
Pre-rake days
reject modernity, embrace tradition
1993
1991 the floor could still bend, right?

THIS IS MY LIFE LOL

Best F1 car ever (NOT)
If they made it look THAT much like a Ferrari these days they'd probably be sued for like $50 million as a result of copyright infringement
Here's the 641...the livery is a complete copy
Sure, the Life has a different engine cover design, but from a distance you wouldn't be able to tell them apart
And I also know that Rosso Corsa is the national Italian racing color, but the black wings...
Look like matchboxes
lmao
NO FRONT WINGS AAAAA-
yes
Didn't need them back in the day
Or so they thought
True
ground effecc succ car into trac
Then the cars attac the tracc and also the other cars
then ground effecc said bye in 83 and front wings came bacc
but 2022, it will be back
yes
Ya mean bacc
New update: slower cars lol
Better looking tho, hopefully
Magnificent
Ronnie Peterson?
Gunnar Nilsson
its a shame we never got to see his full potential
ahh the Alfa
Pole Position in the hands of Andrea De Cesaris himself.
Lotus 49 (just saw on the internet machine)
NOT Mclaren
it is?
Many people think red white Marlboro=McLaren
No it isn't
Wait really?
yes
Both Malboros?
yes
alfa had an extremely similar livery to mclaren in the early 80s
well same thing just different number font and more red at the back
and a red tip on the nose cone
83 alfa
Marlboro sponsored McLaren and Alfa didn't they
Like together
The MP4/1 was... 1982?
McLaren tended to have a slightly brighter shade of Marlboro red, and instead of Black wings, white ones
So similar too
If you saw the cars without liveries you'd tell the difference off the bat
Yup
Could that happen today, I wonder?
Seeing as it's Austria this week.

60 fps upscaled footage of the 1972 Austrian GP at Österreichring (now Red Bull Ring). This is a 60FPS video, so please watch in 720p60.
My channel (including this video) is not monetized.
Well perhaps
probably not
I mean… Richard Mille xd
PMI is focusing solely on Ferrari since like.. 1997
I think he meant sponsors sponsoring 2 different teams
it's possible, but we're talking about 2 teams having the same title sponsor
Yeah probably not
technically RB and TR had that situation
Yeah, that
The similar liveries too
With all the copyright s**t these days
Point
Yeah, title sponsor, like Cognizant or Petronas these days
i know
Yeah but if you view it from a technical point of view they were technically the same team
no
Cuz * google translate * Toro Rosso=Red Bull in Italiano
that's right
Buuuuuut Red Bull was a biiiiiiit more successful
I've no idea why people had their minds blown when they realised that, it's kinda obvious

The Ferrari 312T6

The thing of it is that it was a six wheeler
Ayrton Senna on a committed lap in his McLaren-Honda MP4/6 to take provisional Pole Position with a time of 1min 21.618secs. Nigel Mansell would have to dig deep to snatch Pole in front of his adoring home crowd.... British GP Qualifying, Silverstone, 13th July 1991. #F1 https://t.co/5zghXMWGko

I immediately get W11 vibes from this
And we all know what came next.
I want to ask, is jochen rindt died before the 1970 season ended?
Looks like a CART car.
What year and driver is is this?
Yeah, it probably is. Look at the helmet.
I did some research. No that's not Ronnie. His was full blue with yello accents.
Well this was when F1 and IndyCar still shared alot, and Indy was almost directly following F1's developments so it makes sense
Oh ok
It wasn't until 1983 when ground effects were banned in F1 that I feel Indy and F1 design really started to part
sadlly, yes he was an uncrowned champion
sad
Congrats @potent crypt, you're now on lap 5
He was the first and hopefully only posthumous world champion
Ronnie's helmet looked like this.https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EnY45AnXIAEk0U5.jpg
Which Lotus?
Reine Wisell?
That dude was probably one of the drivers who came in and out of Lotus.
Gunnar Nilsson or Reine Wisell I think
It seems to be Nilsson https://automotorfargio.files.wordpress.com/2016/06/zolder77.jpg
Thanks!
np
That driver was another Swede called Gunnar Nilsson.
there is a wikipedia page about swedish f1 drivers
Ok thanks
Thank @balmy canopy.
Carlos Reutemann, 1977
Won posthmously
Probably Ronnie
oooh right
Jim Clark
Thanks! Had no idea Reutemann drove for Ferrari.
He did, in '77 and '78 after Regazzoni went off to Ensign. He actually outperformed Niki Lauda in the initial stages of the '77 season, which was impressive.
and probably due to Maranello politics
Siamo Ferrari e siamo la squadra rossa and blah blah blah but at times they really are the underworld of Formula 1
what?
exactly what you said, politica
what team was this
it looks the same as richard petty's car
🤌
This isn't Petty Motorsports?
It IS Richard Petty's car
No. 43!
nevermind
It is a Plymouth
Daytona winner?
idt that's one.....
Patrick Racing
They were both sponsored by STP, Pa- DANGIT MARLB
ok
although regarding IndyCar, i think they had the stupid dangerous ground effects F1 had for only 1 year or so?
with the 1980 Chapparal
(designed by eventual McLaren designer John Barnard)
Wow. March had Newey while Chaparral had Barnard.
erm they weren't together at the same time
Barnard was very much full time involved in F1 by the time Newey joined March in 1984
Still, a very cool fact about Barnard.
They just removed skirts and still had nutty tunnels
And also the Gurney Eagles had the BLAT Skirts
ok 🙂
the cart team was pat patrick racing
So fun fact: Indy got to air sealing first
we might circlejerk F1 is the best and all, but Indy has had a fair few things before F1, including turbos iirc
Didn't know for air sealing tho, who achieved it and when?
Jacky Ickx moment
Guess who THIS is!
Michael Schumacher, 1990
Relatively unknown
Collin McRae back in 1996
Tommi Makinen back in 1998
Looks like the Ferrari 312
It's the Ferrari 1512
👀
bro.
Super GT hittin' it BIG
Hell yeah
He should drive in F1 lol
Uh, tbh, idk about that. He's enthusiast-good but not professionally good... at least not yet
If he keeps improving, then maybe one day. Unless if he's already too old
Seen his karting?
Congrats @sleek mulch, you're now on lap 5
I mean maybe
Yeah, all the time
mmhmm
I feel bad when he enters the shadow realm and everyone laughs about it 💀
Could've gone a lot worse
Ferrari 1512, also, who's in the car?
MTV got some major public exposure through this didn't they
1994 San Marino :/
Please, no
Hello
F1 porsche?
yes
When did they enter f1?
First in... 1962?
Then they built engines for Mclaren from 1983-1987.
Francois Cevert???
Then 1983 with TAG, which is how we got Mansour Ojjeh
RIP Ojjeh
Francois Cevert was a driver who was known as a very friendly, competitive, and attractive driver who partnered with Jackie Stewart
Jackie stewart?
Shame he died too soon.
Cevert suffered a crash at Watkins Glen, with him slamming into a guardrail at 150 mph
Wasn't someone decapitated at Watkins?
Uhm
Helmuth somethimg
Koining I belive
Yea helmuth koining
Something like 160 into a guard rail
yeah. koinigg got decapitated...
Yea
He making me act up
😳
As for Cevert's fellow compatriot, Jacques Laffite...
And don't forget tom Pryce's crash
No I'd rather forget that
😑
All motorsport in fact
The worst accident in Motorsports history....
okay so like why're we bringing this up?
grow john
Kinda
How old is Schumacher
52
Really?
If Michael was like Juan Pablo's age of 45 now he'd have been 15-16 when he started in 1991
RIP Mansour

the safety car
He shut up for a bit plus there are lots of videos about cosworth dfvs around
Uhm. Chief. It didn't work then
It'd probably work fine now honestly
mm condom car
yeaa
I think they censored most of the season in some parts of the world just because of that sponsor logo
lol
I'm not kidding
Do you have some Pictures from Jos Verstappens Benneton?
woah
ah yes verstappen
I mean, Jos was in Benneton. That Benneton to be specific
How thoughtful of the mechanics to keep the car and jos cool with the fluid spray
im surprised the logo pretty much stayed the same
and the fact that they've been a company for that long
sql databases have been around for a long, long time
Super GT also driven the same car as Jimmer
No punterino Jimmer

Lmaooo that was funny
Aw man, I would've loved to see that

totally isnt a stolen joke
Fun Fact: Burt Maylander (safety car driver) has led the most laps at the singapore grand prix

dam u good bro
Thanks
Not historic f1 but my dad let me know that Porsche cup aren’t going to Silverstone so in place there will be a classic gt support race with e-types and that
Sat in that lol
I assembled a model of the B194. I should buy a model of the 193 some day
nice
Connery!
(also, James Hunt and James Bond in the same photo. Who would've imagined....)
And Jackie Stewart and Emerson Fittipaldi
And Fangio as the cherry on top
Bro what year was this?
i know where the pic is from, give me a second
Coz any of the years where this could've been taken, Emerson was racing
BAD?!
Schumiiiiiii
James Hunt, Sir Jackie, Sean Connery (what the actual-), Juan Manuel Fangio and Emerson Fittipaldi
Jackie can never wear enough Tartan, can he?
The tartan stays on even during sex

THAT IS BEAUTIFUL
2021 mclaren at monaco
Just a little reminder if nobody saw it last night historic gt support race at Silverstone in place or Porsche super cup
this picture was used as evidence for why f1 shouldn't get seatbelts delaying safety advances for years
it's the driver behind the car ?
Yea I think it is?
The driver had been thrown out
One of the biggest issues was that cars had never been designed to have rolling structures to protect the head, nor anything to crumple which meant any load would shock straight to the driver instead
That 1992 vibe huh?
Also drivers feared burning alive more than being thrown out in the 50s and probs early 60s
Yes
Well he's... Not into Motorsport
Try to tell them
He like f1
It's ok, not everyone knows who Cruijff was
Who?
This year can't get any more worse for motorsports....
You're right.
did he ever run for presidency in the end?
I don't think he did
Reutemann, he won '81 in our hearts 😔
Reutemann was very underrated.
RIP Carlos
these cars give me f2, f3 and indycar vibes
it's a Penske iirc
It's a Tyrrell 007
hmm right, thought it was a private entered Penske, but Penske didn't copy Tyrrell that much for their first car
The driver's like, wazzgoinon im sittin on the floor while my car is all spinning
Or hey where'd my car go
Just tell them he's the most tartan-obessed person in history'
I thought it was here a moment ago
Rest in peace, Lole
Don't you mean Lole?
oops sorry
typo
damn it
anyway
He, for me, was one of the greatest drivers never to win the championship, along with Gilles Villeneuve and Sir Stirling Moss
Yeah, Reutemann is one of the more overlooked drivers
❤️ 🇦🇷 desde 🇺🇸
QEPD
The man who ignited my passion for classic F1
(Also I wish I'd known all along this channel existed [and I'm kinda insulted by the channel description because I was born 2001])
Totally agree. He's so unfairly overlooked in favor of Villeneuve and Peterson (maybe it's because they both had fatal accidents?)
How he had everything thrown in his face causing him to lose the title in '81 is what made me back the guy
Lost it by just one point despite a contract that was supposed to make him let Jones win like in 80, Brabham being allowed to loophole their way into recreating the illegal ground effect, whichever race that was where Jones got new parts and Lole didn't, and overall the team not supporting him enough
From what I've seen the clause that was obeyed through 80 and the first round of 81 was that Lole had to let Jones by if he couldn't maintain a lead of 7 seconds. Which is absolute BS and would never be allowed today
I could go on and on
Wow. Now I see why some would consider Reutemann the real champion of 1981
Props to Lole for holding up.
I guess he quit F1 in early 1982 because of all that.
That, and another factor was the Falklands war
His relationship with the team was bad enough, then that war broke out and there was bound to be crap since we had an Argentine driver with a British team
So it was pretty inevitable
Though I do think he could've beaten Rosberg and the rest that year had he somehow lasted.
oh.... right...
That happened.
Two aliens
Which car is that
It's white, with a ford engine
Is that a Williams
Number 25
Doesn't ring a bell
😔
Lauda was very unlucky in 1985, albeit him capturing his last win at Zandvoort.
Figured this was a March of some sort from that front wing design like the one Ronnie had in 71
I didn't know Eifelland was in F1 that far back
Does anyone else dig the Brabham BT34's design?
I do
Who doesn't?
Guess what I got to drive in Real Racing 3 today!
i find the lobster claw Brabham quite interesting, sadly it wasn't successful
90's?

Hi everybody! Just joined the server. Hope we can all get along.
BTW, I prefer this Brabham design, excluding the side-view.
Thats the 46B right,m
If the 46B had this kind of side view, it would be my favorite F1 car in every aspect, but since it looks like the chopped off half of it, it's not.
Still the best black livery in F1.
46B? Huh?
This is the BT52
That's a 52 my gamer, just get your numbers confused?
Okay nevermind
46B posted before
I'm dummy
Np
OH
I never did my Japanese 3.5L post...
I was saying if the 46B had a side-view/engine cover like the BT52's, it would be my favorite f1 car.
Fan of the stripped sidepods huh?
It's a shame the original Equipe Renault never won a championship. Came close many times. I wish F1 had more teams based outside of England not called Ferrari.
Great Ferrari livery, wish the car was faster though.
Sorry Battery but this header is too good.
Obviously a big shame they never won a title with the technology they expensively brought forward
Can I do my 3.5L Appreciation post?
Well
Japanese v12 appreciation
I don't remember Suzuki making a 3.5L V12 engine...
Sexyy
Fisi
when looking for 1981 championship stuff found this

Nelson Piquet

piquet definetly has better photos
Rosberg racing for mclaren??
Oh so rosberg and and prost in 86
yes sir
and Prost knew Rosberg did a bad move when he learned he was joining McLaren for 86, seeing how better the Williams got in 85
he retired i think
yeah only in Portugal they had this yellow livery for Marlboro lights
Looks dead drunk lol
The 80s and 90s made the best f1 cars
I wouldn't totally agree for F1 specifically but probably open-wheel as a whole
