Russell retired on lap 1, Norris pitted under the resulting Safety Car (along with Piastri) and ended up falling into a tank bowl of sorts with Piastri in the late stages for last on the road because the stint after the red flag was that difficult for them both 💀

In season 6 i DNFed because of a crash with Gasly that also took Russell out along with myself and Gasly
And in season 7 i finished 15th
But in the S7 race there were five DNFs.
- Drugovich on lap 1 when I hit into him after struggling to rejoin after being spun 360 by Russell
- Russell on lap 1 as well as a consequence of the incident
- Pourchaire being hit by Stroll on lap 8
- Stroll spinning while trying to overtake Zhou, and clattering into Pourchaire (lap 8 too obv)
- Ricciardo on lap 17 with an engine failure

Mercedes sail off to a 1-2 and claim title number 9, as Verstappen scrambles to P3 and Manz has a mechanical failure on lap 18 of 20. They needed to outscore us by 4, and they outscored us by 28.
This race also made the driver’s title an exclusive battle between the Mercedes pair, but Russell leads by 47 with 91 points left.
But behind, the battle for P4, possibly even P3, looks interesting.
Piastri is closer to his teammate Sargeant behind him than he is to Norris directly ahead
the season has been interesting, it's just that when it mattered most, Mercedes were the ones who were there
this wasn't pure dominance, this was opportunism sprinkled with dominant spells.

So it still works, but not ideal. Something with the hinges broke, and then when they aren't clamped, it falls all the way down to the ground. I think I should be good as long as they the hinges are clamped into place (which they should be anyway), but still not ideal. I tighten a few things that seemed to help. Shifting focus back to my F1 23 save, i need to update with the results of COTA, and also qual and the sprint in Sao Paulo
Firstly, the Sprint
Piastri had contact with Russell on lap 1 and had to pit
Both Haas cars gambled on inters onto the penultimate or last lap, fell to the back
Russell had to pit early on lap 3 because of contact. The Alpines made contact on lap 10 leading to Ricciardo making a second stop. Ocon retired onto lap 12, and as he did, Piastri and Iwasa made contact (Iwasa warned), and then Zhou and Magnussen did too (Zhou warned).
Verstappen wins by 9 seconds over Norris, and Manz's tyres dropped off at the end and she finished 20 seconds behind her teammate. But, this was the first ZS double podium of the season... 6 time reigning champions only now getting their first double podium.. yeah theres a reason merc clinched the title in qatar
Russell leads Norris by 42 points, and there's a very slim but still existent chance Verstappen takes P2.
Zwaansport push clear of McLaren and Red Bull in P2, and they're pretty firmly there now.

And in the Grand Prix, a lap 8 crash between Manz and Leclerc brings out the safety car and somewhat shakes up the field. In the later part of the race, Norris is slow with wing damage, and Piastri and Ricciardo are slow with car issues, which pretty much sealed the podium except for its order. The order was decided with a last lap incident between Manz and Sainz who were 1st and 2nd, they made small contact at turn 1, and more at turn 2/3, both running off the track, and Leclerc got past at turn 4 to become the 11th winner of the season

Events of this race:
Manz leads the early stages, Piastri gets up to P6, and Verstappen has a poor start and falls to 11th, later 13th. Manz commands the race by over 1 second until about lap 7/8, ahead of Russell early on, but later from Gasly who made a nice move into turn 9.
Lap 8, Gasly makes a challenge for the lead, edges ahead towards turn 3 but Manz gets down the inside of Gasly pretty cleanly to retake P1. Wheel to wheel on the run towards turn 9, Manz still remained ahead, Gasly got a little unsettled and fell back to P3, behind Russell. Manz bailed into the pits onto lap 9 because of tyre wear.
There were some more stops coming in, and on lap 11, Dennis Hauger hit Zhou Guanyu as Zhou was exiting the pits at turn 1, bringing out the Safety Car. Russell pits along with Gasly, Sainz, Vips, Piastri and Doohan (i think). Gasly emerged with the lead. Ricciardo's Renault gave out on lap 12 under SC, and the race got back underway on lap 14 with Gasly on softs leading Russell, Manz, Sainz and Vips, all on hards.
Manz made a move to the inside at turn 1, taking P2 away from Russell, and started to open a little gap.. but Gasly was gone in the lead. 2 seconds clear after two laps. And as the hards wore out for Manz, Russell almost got her at the flag. And Ocon had a mechanical failure on lap 17.
