why are there 4 different racing series on the same track at the same time racing eachother?
are the series independent from eachother, or does for example an lmp2 car get any benefit of overtaking an hypercar?

generally no not really unless the car ends up on the podium then they get to go onto the overall podium (the podium for the first 3 cars to cross the line)

then ELMS runs LMP2, LMP3 and GTE

and then you have more local series like British GT runs GT3 and GT4

GT3 is one regulation package that manufacturers make cars for, and they can be used in all championships that use GT3 cars which are well, a lot
GT3 is also eligible to the GT300 class in Super GT

And then theres GTE, which are similar to GT3 cars, but more aerodynamics, more power, more expensive

And then theres Class One / GT500. What DTM used for 2 years, but then all manufacturers except BMW left. So they switched to GT3, And so now only Super GT uses it as their top class.

GTE's are on their way out, due to lack of manufacturer interest. Being replaced by GT3 most likely, though theres talk of just making a package where manufacturers can take a GT3 cars and slap more aero on them. a GT3+ basically, that can be used in WEC.
