that one is special because that's pre facelift laguna seca and I have stood in that very spot 👍
Is this Pike's Peak?
The Modena Cento Ore is a five-day tour across Italy along scenic routes with circuit races, hillclimbs on closed roads and time trials for cars from the 1920 to 1981 period (more or less). The 2018 started at Monza Circuit with the first scheduled race on the GP track and followed by a timed special stage that included a passage on the old Monz...
Only the apron but

that looks fun
https://twitter.com/LienhardRacing/status/1359395173344686080 hmmm, stratos zero concept
The Gebhardt... G-GebharDDt
I can't identify this car
I thought it'd be like a Nova or Capri from late 70's/early 80's
It's J.M. Traverso in the Argentine TC2000 championship, 1991. The car Is a Renault Capri
ya our capri was way different
Renault Capri? Isn't Capri a ford model? Could be a Fuego though
It is a Ford Fuego, I had a slight confusion
Sorry
Renault Fuego.
That just isn't the best IMSA Car tho
This however
Not the best livery but am lazy
Is that a March... 84P?
Imma tell my kids this was the McLaren MP4/4
Yes this is the MP4/4 what are you saying
Yes
Definitely not the Penske PC22
oh definitely not
This car at Goodwood is so good to watch
it says Marlboro so it has to be a McLaren
It makes it more funny when they both became merc badges
The Jaaaaaaaaagggggggggg
i have a diecast of the w202 safety car
having owned a w201 and 203, and my sister a 202, the 201 was the best of the batch
Real V6 DTM hours
The 1996 Alfa Romeo 155 DTM V6 Ti is hands down the best sounding V6-powered car ever made! This beast is moved by a 690RC 2.5 liter V6 engine which can reach the insane speed rotation of 12000rpm!!

Hehe boii
Alfa, Mercedes or Opel?
alfa
I really love the Alfas, but at the same time, Mercedes was the dominant force in the ITC era.
I'm split between the two.
Wait, hold on. This year would mark the 25th anniversary since the end of the original DTM
Not much of a Calibra fan. But I will take this, though. (even if it isn't from the ITC era)
That looks like a 90'sFoxbody
Well for one thing, it sure is a looker.
Nah nah nah, not that one
which one, exactly?
I'm not really familiar with the Trans-Am series or classic IMSA that much
This one
Fun fact... Sending several large images seems to override the Nitro thing...
Not the livery
But like... Idk It might be the same, but I like dovetails
Still looks good tho
These just look menacing
Pretty much all of those silhouettes are hot... I forgot the RX-7
Can't forget the Marlboro Mustang
1990_Mazda_RX7IMSAGTO1.jpg
So we had 4-Rotor RX-7's, 4.5-6.5L Oldsmobiles
And Ford/Mercury's with either SOHC 2.5 i4 Turbos, or 5.3-6.0 V8's
Well... Prototypes are a whole different story
This is my favourite 787:b:, the JSPC one
Well it's a Jaguar-JUDD
Exactly.
Mazda-Jaguar-Judd. It literally reminds me of BMW Sauber-Ferrari
I actually quite like the Mazda MXR-01
Shame I can't hear it running other than one or two JSPC recordings

It is the movie that GroupC machines warming up run before finals race at Fuji International Speedway.
...
Although, the Lola T92/10 has the same engine
Yep that's it
Oh I forgot about the gorgeousness that was the 92C-V
It doesn;'t sound great but
ITC @ Suzuka 96
always funny to see the 962 that ran in JGTC in 1994 next to the other cars
Kinda interesting to know that Tom Kristensen, Anthony Reid, Jeff Krosnoff, and Oscar Larrauri all participated that year
JGTC 1994
oh word they did
The 1994 All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship was the first full season of premier class GT racing in Japan to be promoted by the new GT Association (GTA). It was marked as well as the twelfth season of a JAF-sanctioned sports car racing championship, dating back to the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship. Recognized as the first season ...
Never knew Anthony Reid competed in JGTC until now
You mean he even did Turismo Carretera?
he did TC2000 for a few years
won the Buenos Aires 200km in 2008 lol
Seems kinda strange to see HKS branding on an Opel tbh
RIP DTM
We still have the BTCC and WTCR, but they can't compare to what DTM, STW, and Touring Cars of the olden days were.
i stil enjoy btcc and wtcr but yea the cars back then jus cant be replaced
not to mention the racing was also brilliant old touring car season reviews are some of the best things to watch if u got spare time
shame the spending just got too ridiculous to maintain lmao
The racing was more than brilliance. It was pure MADNESS.

What layout is it? Just like a twin-rotor?
Twin rotor, from what I know
Oh jesus
Tf is that lmao
That's the Dome Group C2 car innit?
in 1979 i can already tell this car would do poorly
Wait it's that old?
I thought it was like 1984
1984 would be even worse bro
if a regular 911 outpaced it in quali, ye i can see it's not that fast lol
word lol
Bruh
It looks fit for racing doe
a streamlined body doesn't always equals great downforce
I know, or good engine power, etc.
mhm
at the time many cars used the same Cosworth DFV as F1 cars did
the 1979 le Mans winner used this
It's like they tried doing a 962LM or WM P88 before that was a thing
so I was rifling thru some old photos of mine
apparently I got to sit in Mauro Pregliasco's car back in the day
dude raced rally, including Alfettas, 308s, and even montecarlos
So basically, this car is like the Life L190
ye lol
not all original ideas are good
The closed wheel version of the Williams FW07/Longhorn LR02 probably inspired the gen2 Formula E car.
its so similar but i cant help but feel the open wheel longhorn just looks so much nicer than the williams
sacrilege i know
It kinda does, but it just seems weird seeing a Williams at Indy or in Can-am
just the engine cover and slightly lower side profile ughh
THIS is sacrilege
FW08 better
Agree to disagree
In terms of looks, yes. But in terms of performance... No
It... It got a championship doe
Tried to take an iconic pic at Monaco 🇲🇨
Panizzi?
Can someone please inform me where people get those Widebody kits for those 306's?
Video game screenshots go in #racing-games. This channel is for irl pictures/discussions
The Kremer K8?
reminds me of that Porsche of like 76-77
The 936?
yes that one
No, this is a 962 with no roof
The Gunnar-Porsche 966 from 1991-1993
Who is gunnar lmao
Certainly not Gunnar Nilsson, thats for sure
or Dauer
Yea
Not sure if this is the best chat but anyway
Aston Martin-Nimrod?
Yes, NRA C2
It's just not as hot as the AMR1 tho
this
This is a better pic
I believe this is the first car to have like... The vented front ends through the sidepods as a separate appendage
Like it's a Front wing that extends

rare marlboro proton
Proton? Never knew they did GP motorbikes
it's technically a KR-Modenas
that marlboro looks good
meaning kenny roberts modified the original modenas bodywork and engine
it evolved through 2007

The sixth round of the 1987 Sports-Prototype Championship was a flat out, 'ten-tenths' blast at the concrete-wall-lined Norisring circuit. The Tom Walkinshaw Jaguars wanted to give themselves a morale boost with victory over the two 78-lap ...
I'm angry how Group C was treated
Didn't the FIA screw it over with regulations and them also saying 'F1 should be the fastest series in the world, not Group C.'
Yez
Group C was more appealing to constructors, and their top speed figures were insane
I don't get why the FIA would kill Group C just to keep F1 at the top of the motorsports rostrum
I mean, Group C was one of the most fascinating and appealing series to ever exist.
Because they didn't have personal investment in Group C?
It was Bernie and Max
They formed Brabham and March
During the 2017 Vernasca Silver Flag trackday at Varano de' Melegari I recorded this Sauber SHS C6 prototype or also called Sehcar SH C6. The car was engineered by Seger & Hoffman (hence the SHS designation) in order to race in the World Endurance Championship and in the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft as a Group C prototype in 1982.

living legend
this man rode the unraced BMW MotoGP prototype from 2007
and then went on to ride the Ilmor
Fave Group C?
Ilmor kek
Ilmor have done Bikes?
I think I remember seeing something that said they did
unfortunately
two year program that went absolutely nowhere and made the parties involved learn nothing from it
i do question it incredibly to this day
mercedes v10's as well
they had that indy and f1 engine knowledge and... actually didn't use it
I wish they did more racing stuff instead of doing outboard motors
Well
BERYLLIUM PISTONS!
#motorsports for more info
Mercedes and Ilmor are incredibly tight knit sister companies
Still
Coz they're kinda built from eachother
Is making Ford NASCAR engines, Chevrolet Indy engines, and Merc doing F1 not enough?
Never mind...
Forgot Ilmor made the Chevy V6's
Also, never knew they made they Ford Nascar engines.
Yeah they make NASCAR V8's and ARCA 396'S
huh.
Ilmor and Cosworth do a bunch of stuff to supply parts to areas which you wouldn't see their badge on so
Cosworth steering wheels, Ilmor Outboard motors, etc.
Well cosworth also bank on Pistons, Electronics, and military work
Military Work... Pistons and Electronics are understandable, but military work?
Well the same electronics and whatnot can be put into tanks
is? or was?
Well, technically was
Hab Mecachrome
The F2/F3 V6
The F2 one coz of the Tumbo
The F3 is N/A
Also it's a hot V
Well a Supertec V10 wouldn't do any better, since both Mecachrome and Supertec in F1 are commonly associated with rebadged Renault engines
... The Supertec V10's actually could do well
Really?
Well yeah Ralf nearly got his first win in it
The Mechachromes sucked
The Supertec and Playlifes sucked less
Oh yeah... playlife...
But the Reliability for F2's V6 is being complained about now
First off, how unreliable is it, and secondly, the 2018 F2 chassis did receive its fair share of complaints as well
IMSA WSC is so underrated

Reynard nose... Actually that's 2001 that's a better example than the one's I'm on about
Looks more streamlined
Both look good to me in my book
Did this style of nose provide any advantage
Well I don't really know
I assume the Lola's nose would be less draggy or something
It's hard to say, because Reynard were dominant until Lola had the revival in 2000
Alfa Romeo vibes
The Lolas I assume would provide less drag at the front, but the Reynards would compensate by creating a slightly larger wake off of the cockpit, which'd reduce buffeting
Penske nose was pretty smooth too
There's muh fave right dere

Not so hot take: The 1,000km of Monza should be on a revamped combined circuit
Eh....
Here is the 1996 Riley & Scott MK3 driven by Nigel Grensall at the Masters Endurance Legends Series at the Masters Historic Festival Brands Hatch 2018.
It's just good coz the circuit is 10km
So just reopen the Monza oval or just extend the track?
I meant on the small likelyhood that Monza would get the funding to rebuild the Oval entirely

YO MONTLHERY
Oh that looks sick
Which bit?
Second
Montlhery, Monza, and AVUS: Battle of the bankings
Of course I've said before I'd make the banking a fair bit less but
AVUS clearly wins
Also because the banking is progressive, all banking estimates I've seen range between 18°-33°
Yeah AVUS was... 43°?
Like it's speedracer levels
Hmm.... I wouldn't want to imagine what would happen if NASCAR or Indycar raced on the AVUS banking
Well the AVUS banking isn't exactly one that had an open radius to allow for being flat-out
It was quite a tight corner for one so big
Lancia LC2?

USAC once held a non championship Indycar race at Fuji in 1966
Jackie Stewart won that race
the american series has had a few races abroad hasn't it
didn't they have some races at motegi?

905 evo 2.1
Literally looks like an eva or a scifi spaceship, how have i never seen this before
Its another variant of this
The best Peugeot 905 is the OG, change my mind
I mean... it looks so good, but it can't compare to the 905 we know and love
For some reason, it just gives me Osella PA20 vibes. (imagine that in 905 colors)

mick
The NSR500 👍
what a recovery to win 5 titles after his injury in 92
was for sure on for his first till that
Man... the 905 still looks like it could still be part of the Le Mans 24 hours grid.... Timeless beauty
Can we just get Group C back my gamers
That was a beauty...

Check out this awesome 1984 In-car action from Sandown Park in Australia as Rothmans Porsche 956 driver Johnny Dumfries winces under under the incredible G-forces acting upon him through the tight and twisty bends of Sandown Raceway!
The 1984 Sandown 1000km was Australia's first ever FIA World Championship event; An endurance motor race staged...
Dumfries either sounds like he's constipated or trying to bust both of his nuts

I'm not sure if it's the G forces exerted on his body or him try his damnedest to make the corner without power steering.

It just sounds like a 1992 CART engine
Hence: Gimmie 15,000rpm 3.5L Cosworth Zetec-R
I just thought it sounded like the Benetton b191
Well that's... That's essentially what it is
ye it sounds like a Ford engined Benetton
But I was thinking Cosworth XB too
1993 nigel mansell long beach indycar grand prix pole position lap onboard
because it's the same engine
Cosworth HB
But here's the question:
extreme power N/A or with a spinny mcgoober?
hmm
Coz I'd prefer N/A... In most cases
ehh, i prefer turbocharged
The exception case is if the spinny boi is a supercharger...
Imagine turbo F1 cars back then, as well as nowadays with anti lag
oh. nevermind
Did you not know that F1 was turbocharged for a solid decade?
Or did you mean like... They never banned em or something?
eh...?
Did you mean having Turbos in the 90's too? Am confuse
But then again you said you had a brainfat
So now I may be dragging this like mad
Which is... Highly probable
Sorry. I meant during the 1980s
None. This (or maybe georg plasa's bmw) is best JUDD
REALLY NOW?
... Y-yeah?
Give em GV4.2's doe
Is that my fave Indycar?
I adore the wedge shape
Like start with the Lotus... 56? The turbine boi
Up until the early 90's
The Wedge nose
The wing on that thing
The 2K?
yes
Ayo... I just realised they've got rear wheel flicks mad early
Have a fave 80's boi
Why 6the 1984 Eagle? Idk a Pontiac V8 sounds hot
There are so many good 80's cars. I mean, the Patrick Racing Wildcat, The pennzoil Penske Pc17, etc.
That one's not like a full sent BLAT car, but I think the Eagle Indycars before it had too small of a nose
Also the sidepods on this thing are cool
I wonder how the Dallara IR05/DW12/IR18 would look like in the Norton colors
Hmmmm
Hmmmm indeed
I got really confused, there's a megaphone exit by Bobby's shoulder, but coz they're the same shape as the Intakes on the turbos at the time, I thought someone had like... put it there instead of on the car
@glacial arch is that the targa florio?

Also, dat nose
WHY IS THE NOSE SO LONG
It's like they saw the Lola B02/00 having the nose so short and thought, hey let's reverse it to to make the equal and opposite problem
Its kinda like this
Cringe
pretty sure that's a pre-2014 (possible pre-2012 even) chassis with a higher front and a fake-nosecone to make the lose nower like since 2014

Bruv name a better prototype series
Other than Group C...
Interserie
Its a pretty cursed series
And what were the cars in Interserie in 1974?
Prototypes....
Which prototypes?
Can-am machinery
Bruh.
Oh right
Well Can-am tried to save itself doing that
With the closed-wheel F1/F5000 cars, was pretty cringe
There was also closed wheel Indycars and F3000 cars

The 1989 car?
Yes
Hmm.... Imagine if they had Group C and IMSA GTP racing alongside each other
instead of closed wheel open wheelers
Well not entirely
Wait hold on... there already exists a series that features GTP vs Gr. C
The rules weren't entirely in common with eachother, hence cars like the nissan GTP ZX-T weren't used across IMSA and WSC, hence the more... Modest? R85-90C models
Or how the Eagle Toyota GTP's and the Toyota 92C-V's didn't mix
There was a couple different aero/fuel rules, and IMSA was a tad more aggressive
I heard that IMSA had no fuel restrictions or something
Oh interesting
*no fuel consumption restrictions
yeah you're right, IMSA had no regulations on Fuel consumption, whereas Group C pivoted on the 100L fuel tanks
Also like... GTP was playing no games with downforce generation and Group C only really caught up with the Toyota TS010
The Toyota TS010 High downforce made 8,998lb/4,081kg @ 200mph with 1,475lb/669kg of drag
The Eagle-Toyota Mk.3 High downforce: 9,275lb/4,207kg @ 200mph with 2,097lb/951kg of drag
Which to be honest is quite comparable, considering the Eagle is the heavier, morre powerful, and less slender of the two
The Eagle was 830kg, and made more than 800bhp in 1992
The Toyota was 750, and made like 650? 680?
Also in testing, the TS010 cracked a test driver's rib
Yup, can't forget about that
Congrats @lean hatch, you're now on lap 15
What do you think the Power:Weight:Downforce should be for a prototype?
Also for context, the max the Ferrari F333SP made was 5,224lb/2,369kg of downforce, with 1,656lb/751kg of drag @200...
So despite cutting downforce by 43%, thing makes drag about the same as both of those mean average
For Prototypes with driver... I'd go 650kw/872bhp, 800kg/1,764lb, and like... Downforce around 3,400kg/7,496lb @ 200... In highest trim
Power : Weight seems good
For context, the Jaguar XJR-14 in highest made slightly higher than that
In downforce
What, like in the 8000's?
The XJR-14 made 7,800lb/3,540kg
But I also have to think like... I wanna make em more powerful, larger probably, and with modern tyre tech so like eeeee
If I were to create a prototype, then maybe modern tire tech would be good, unrestricted boost, maybe an ERS? i dunno
Ayo lemme just ramp up that power figure chief

i love the story of andy wallace breaking his ribs in the TS010 after taking a corner flat out at Eastern Creek and hitting a bump
insane car
This piece came out of a call made to 1988 Le Mans 24 Hours winner, three times Daytona 24 Hours, twice Sebring 12 Hours and Petit Le Mans winner (and all-round endurance racing icon) Andy Wallace to put together his contribution to our Best Car, Worst Car, Dream Car series. That item will follow in […]
So Andy and Hitoshi cracked the same 2 ribs at the same time due to 9 days worth of Double stints and that heckin' bump
Anyone who has ever driven, or ridden, Eastern Creek Raceway will tell you what an awesome circuit it is. It's world class! That's why Toyota tested its V10-powered TS010 Le Mans racer there way back in 1992 -- the same year it finished on the podium in the 24-hour race at La Sarthe.
Yeah now I can hear that bump, where the engine slightly cuts
Sexy look
