One thing to note is, you don't see the overlay loaded on your side, its loaded on your stream(viewer) side.

Ok, turn off the stream and the app afterwards.
Go to your phone settings -> apps -> find the app -> clear cache and data
Afterwards open the app, login and start the stream

For whatever reason I've yet to even be able to try this app yet due to the fact that I try to log into both my YouTube & Twitch (correctly) and I'm shown a message each time saying "something went wrong".

Hey there i have a issue with the mobile app, once entering a (nearly) dead spot and the bitrate drops under 1.5mbit in 80% the bitrate won't come up back - i always have to end/start stream to get full bitrate back.

Entering elevator for example, bitrate drops to 0.9mbit - going out of the elevator, full bandwith is available but even after minutes the app doesn't recoginze full bandwith. Enterting elevator, going out and instantly end/start stream, bitrate is available in the app.

I will also dredge up a massive writeup i did about the app experience i wrote to try and help you guys nail down bugs that was dare i say it missed or ignored

just wanted to drop a line to let you know.... i manually set my upload limit to 6000 kbps for twitch streaming from the app and it was completley ignoring it and would reach upload speeds in excess of 15000 kbps - chewed through 15 GB of data in less than 4 hours ... a lil more than the 12-13 GB i was expecting... ALSO am noticing i have to clear cache before each stream or i get a black video screen with audio regardless of my bitrate settings this has been repeatable

also like to add that on occasion when switching from main camera to front camera the stream audio get muted, toggling mute audio serves as a usable workaround from what i noticed it doesnt happen every time but it did happen twice during my stream today ( I doublechecked to make sure i hadnt fat fingered the mute audio by mistake before i tried the mute audio toggling

Hey there i have a issue with the streamelements app, once entering a (nearly) dead spot and the bitrate drops under 1.5mbit in 80% the bitrate won't come up back - i always have to end/start stream to get full bitrate back.

Entering elevator for example, bitrate drops to 0.9mbit - going out of the elevator, full bandwith is available but even after minutes the app doesn't recoginze full bandwith. Enterting elevator, going out and instantly end/start stream, bitrate is available in the app.

Go to the phone settings -> apps -> find the app -> clear cache and data -> restart phone -> try the app again
If there is still stutter, check the settings if you've placed low bitrate and quality for the stream.

@odd berry Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

Hi, i’m having issues with alerts when i stream on my phone - i have chosen the static overlay for when i stream on my phone with streamchamp, cleared out any animation or sound that may impact on its performance.

the first time i tried it out it was perfect, the alert sound came up (even though i had removed it on the web) as well as the text to speech but then after a while it just stops working all together and no alerts come up anymore now.

can someone help me with this please?

This channel is for assistance with our mobile IRL streaming app. We cannot guarantee functionality of our overlays with other apps, as the system was designed with OBS and Chromium in mind, not mobile apps.

@vernal saddle What lx said is correct, that's going to be what you will have to do but it's going to cause some things to happen that are going to require you to have access to a computer to make sure everything lines up correctly if it doesn't work.

You're going to want to go into the app settings for StreamElements and clear your data/cache and then log back in to the app.

#

When you do this though, there is a possibility that it doesn't sync to your currently generated mobile overlay.

It looks like you're outside already, gearing up to stream so it might not be a possibility right now so your best bet is to clear the app/data cache and see if it syncs up, if so then you're good to start. If not, there's a bit more work we can get into to get everything synced up with your alerts/assets on stream.

Create a new, normal overlay.
Name it "BACKUP DATE"
Duplicate all your assets from your CURRENT mobile overlay to this BACKUP overlay.
Delete your CURRENT mobile overlay.
Delete the app/cache data in the app.
Log back into StreamElements on your phone.
You will now see a new Purple Static Mobile Overlay
Duplicate all your assets from the backup to this new mobile overlay
Under absolutely no circumstances should you EVER rename the mobile overlay
Profit!

To duplicate, choose the widget in the mobile overlay and click the third button from the left at the very top where it says LAYERS. The widget you want to duplicate needs to have a shine of blue on it then you can click the button and you'll be prompted to move it to another overlay.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Logged in Logged out. Nothing works. I did notice that it has my YouTube channels original name which was The Hobo Strikes Back but that name was changed years ago. Hi, I'm looking for some help with setting up the mobile app on Android 10 to stream to Twitch.
I do primarily outdoor streams (IRL - Science & Technology) and rely on my mobile phone for streaming. I'm moving away from using the Twitch app after I started noticing some major issues: stream info not being updated correctly, audio sample rate randomly changing to 44.1kHz instead of staying at 48kHz throughout the stream.
I'm hoping that SE app will become my primary app for streaming.

My current configuration is as follows:
Phone: Vivo X50 Lite; running Android 10 (API 26).
Audio gear: Zoom H6 and/or Roland GO:MIXER PRO set in Stereo, or internal mics.
App is configured to 720p 30fps; bitrate set to 2500.
Internet speeds vary between 4mbps to 100mbps (varies on location) via VPN (Speedify). I must use a VPN as my ISP blocks traffic to Twitch and charges extra for access.

I've noticed the following issues using the app so far:

The bitrate fluctuates between 25 and 7000 on a regular basis. Is the bitrate setting supposed to be an average or the max bitrate value?
Audio sample rate changes from 48kHz to 44.1kHz randomly, causing major robotic noises during the stream. This happens regardless if I'm using a USB audio source (Zoom H6 and/or Roland GO:MIXER PRO) or internal microphones.
The app does not always save the stream title and category. Sometimes it keeps the on screen keyboard open when the title window/object is no longer in the foreground.
App will go completely dark and blank for no reason, refusing to close or stop the stream when it does so. Is this a power saving feature or a bug? To stop this from happening, I have to completely turn off the phone to stop the app.

I do like the overall design of this app and find it much easier to use than Twitch app and Larix Broadcaster. Until the bitrate and audio issues are resolved, I'll have to continue to use Larix instead.

If anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

@glass rose Don't use Streamlabs unless you're willing to pay for the subscription. The mobile app is less reliable, and without the subscription you have watermarks all over the screen that will drive you and your audience up the wall. I found Streamlabs support to be very abusive when trying to resolve app stability issues (randomly crashing while streaming). It was a bad experience for me.

If you edited the MOBILE OVERLAY and you're getting alerts that mean the SYNC is ACTIVE so if you're seeing default alerts, it would likely be your variations most definitely.

You are correct @remote spire the button IN the app just plays a default sound/visual just for testing purposes.

Rest assured though, anything you have configured in your mobile overlay will play when you're actually live.

And that you will hear your custom sounds in the app however you will not see the visual aspect on your phone BUT your viewers will.

@alpine anchor Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

I don't recommend doing it on mobile @dull marten just login to the website on your PC, edit the MOBILE OVERLAY overlay and DO NOT RENAME IT then enable TTS in your alerts there.

You can do that with Chrome on mobile though I really do not recommend it.

OK so technically, it is possible.

#

You need to be streaming to an RTMP server on your phone which will be one scene in your server's OBS.

#

Then you have a second RTMP URL/scene in OBS on the server for your PC.

#

End in phone.

#

Start on PC.

#

Stream never goes down.

#

Or do both.

#

Your phone and PC are streaming to the server, the server is streaming to Twitch.

#

These are all different devices and can hot swap at your leisure. Phone, PC, iPad, GoPro, easy peasy.

The keywords you want to look for @craggy wing are RTMP, OBS Server, Nginx, OBS Websocket. There are many long standing RTMP server providers available. These aren't StreamElements things that we could help you with specifically but it will get you started.

You don't technically need two RTMP URLs just as long as you don't try to stream two devices to one at the same time then you could just use one.

No iOS support at this time with no ETA. Generally I would recommend not using Apple for IRL streaming. I don't think you'll find many, if any successful phone IRL streamers using iOS. You'll want the freedom of Android. S20 Ultra assuming you have the Snapdragon chipset is very highly recommended for IRL streaming.

I can't think of any using it specifically but a quick search tells me, it should be just as good. The biggest thing you want to check is whether it is Exoynos or Snapdragon chipset. If you're buying in the US or from a US seller, it'll be Snapdragon.

S10+ is another popular phone used and it's pretty old so really, most modern Android phones are gonna suit you so whatever's in your budget and has the camera you're happiest with.

That's good. If I could say one thing to every IRL streamer in the world that uses a phone, it would be to avoid Exoyno chipsets and you're already 2 steps ahead.

The other thing I would say is don't use Apple phones for IRL streaming.

I looked into streamelements and there is Mobile - MOBILE ALERTS - PURPLE WAVE ALERTS STATIC but nothing happens during stream.

Is there any fix for the mobile app's continuous fluctuation on bitrate issues? I've searched through this discord and found records with other users reporting it over a year ago with no resolution.

In my experience, the bitrate continuously fluctuates depending on upload speed than a fixed rate. That's not a good thing, as data rates on mobile are typically limited.

Nope we have to delete the mobile overlay from stremelements and make the mobile app to re-create it then it will works for 2 streams and break again and have to redo these steps.

it works fine if I test it on browser just it won't load on mobile after 2 streams no matter if you restart the app or try disable and enable via the app only solution to make it work again is delete the overlay and app creates new one

I assume right now there is no way to see it i the mobike app as you live stream?

But when you go live, you and your viewers should see it.

For your second question, yes. It's just YOUR stream and by enabling that setting, it will automatically be saved to Twitch AS you stream.

If so, that's Twitch native disconnect protection in action trying to save the stream because your connection isn't maintaining itself in the app.

I will report it higher 'cause I don't have a specific fix action for it. I've been trying to figure out the same thing with an IRL streamer who uses OBS via a server. My gut says it leans more toward a problem with Twitch and their disconnection protection but I can't confirm that just yet.

You can disable the disconnect protection in your Twitch dashboard and that should make it so that screen doesn't appear when you go offline.

Otherwise when it does happen, it'll appear at the end for no more then 2 minutes as that's all Twitch accounts for.

If there's a desync with the app and the overlay, you can clear the cache of the app in the phone settings and log in again that way instead of having to completely uninstall the app.

Be sure to never rename that mobile overlay.

@cyan jungle download the app, edit the purple static overlay on your laptop then it'll appear however you edit it when you're live.

Laptop only required for editing of the overlay but by going live with the app, your overlays will appear with no laptop required.
