Hey, is there a way that I can have an image hide / unhide when someone follows or subscribes
I'm trying to create a webcam that changes colour every time someone subscribes but I don't want it to stay as the new colour like Shroud's alerts

I have an idea: with obs open, right click on the sound-symbol and select "mixer" or something like that. In there you should be able to switch between your devices as well and it should also show volume levels. So, that way you can find out what program's outputs are routed to which device

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

It’s not the plug-in. It’s that you’re running a bulldozer AMD processor which has been known to be terrible at multi-threaded apps which OBS is starting to take advantage of. As the app matures, it’s going to run worse on your CPU. It’s just how the tech works.

If you have doubts, Google AMD bulldozer. It’s a known thing and you get $35 for having one

Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

Steps:

1. Install the font on the streaming PC or choose a pre-installed windows font.
2. In the overlay widget settings, select Text Settings
3. Click on Enable Custom Font
4. Type the name of the font as it appears in the windows font directory (This is usually C:\Windows\Fonts)

Note: After installing fonts, the browser and OBS must be restarted for the font to appear.

No commands will work when written by the bot itself, unfortunately.
I know some users have managed to make something work by having another bot type the command on a timer, but we don't support other bots so I can't get into particulars. 🤷‍♂️

Has anyone else had this issue...... I'm using a Sony a6000 with an elgato cam link. At random times the video display will just freeze. Sometimes I can fix it by just deactivating and reactivating. Others I have to go through the process of turning off the cam, unplugging the cam link and plugging it back in. It only happens in obs. I've had no issues in discord, an app for my work, and just the regular camera app from windows.

How to separate Media Request (MR) audio in OBS:

MUTE MR FOR YOURSELF, STREAM CAN HEAR

1. Make a new overlay in the editor, ONLY add the Media Request widget.
2. Add a new browser source in OBS, add the URL and set the dimensions correctly.
3. Tick the box for Control audio via OBS
4. Go to Edit > Advanced Audio, set your MR overlay to Monitor Off. Note: This will play through the Desktop Audio, if you mute your desktop audio, it will mute the MR.

CONTROL AUDIO SEPARATELY FROM YOU AND STREAM

1. For this you will need a VAC (use command !vac).
2. Run your MR either in Chrome or in Ground Control (use command !gc). Note: Do NOT click on SHOW ON STREAM.
3. Set Chrome or GC in the VAC as an audio input and output.
4. Add the audio output from VAC as an audio input in OBS. Note: This will not be able to show the video in OBS.

Today I said "yes" to OBS.Live updating itself, and after downloading it insists that it must close itself to continue installing... which, of course, doesn't work. It does this no matter what I try. Thoughts, anyone? Says it's an improved installer, maybe a problem somewhere?

Here's a screenshot. As far as I can tell, nothing else is running. My only options are to tell it to "cancel," which cancels setup, or to "Close programs and resume setup", which closes itself. Whaaaaaa?

Should mention that occasionally it doesn't entirely quit out, but the status of "Installing" on the installer window changes to "Installation Aborted" or something similar. I don't have a capture of that.

If you're using Window Capture, that bottom check box says "Client Area" currently instead of "Multi-adapter Compatibility", so maybe start with updating OBS and try again.

What is stream elements overlay systems impact on internet bandwidth? I have great hardware, but crappy uploads. would i be better off keeping as much as my overlays as possible local on OBS/ ssd, rather than having stream elements host it via the overlay system?

Usually the bandwidth impact is very low

Stuff like alerts are dynamic and would require an internet connection in general to trigger on time, but other than that, you should be fine

if your download speed is low, then the overlay may load slower in general

upload speed only affects your upload of your live stream

• from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
• from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

I've been using obs live for months now, and suddenly its hit me with some super heavy lag spikes, not just to my streams but to my entire computer itself. I've scanned through some forums and ran the program in admin mode, I reinstalled, I completely deleted my setup, I put it on high priority, the works.

Try switching the encoding options in OBS. If you have an NVIDIA GPU, switch to NVENC H.264. Should take some load off your CPU and help.

Hello, I have a problem. When I open the obs.live, it doesn´t respond. It stays weird and for example the camera doesn´t work. It gets like frozen from the last time I closed it. The subs goal from stream elements disappears and I can´t change between scenes. I checked my wifi and that´s not the problem. I already restarted the pc and believe me it´s not the computer. Hello all, I'm not sure if this fits here or twitch or what. It's an issue specifically with the overlay editor not any of our other programs seemingly.

We cant get our text to change from the default to what we need it to be. Specifically, we are using a super theme that includes social media handles and we cant change "instagram" text to say the person's insta handle? I was under the impression all you have to do is change the text in the box and it would change on the overlay. It just displays the default "instagram" text after changing the text. We tried refreshing, and we linked the browser source in obs to preview it. Everything else worked fine and updated as we changed things so it seems to work properly otherwise. It's just we cant edit any of the text for the social media text boxes.

Am I just dumb?

reset sessions and emptied cups
removed and added back mod power on both SE dashboard and twitch dashboard

6. Navigate to the Console tab
7. Type the following into the console and hit enter: store.customBot.removeCustomBotIntegration()
8. Try setting the custom bot name
9. Remove the additional flag in step 2 from your shortcut properties.

Usually when uninstalling OBS there is an option to keep the scene collection. If you've unticked the option to keep the scene collection there might be no way to recover those

unless you used the OBS.Live backup feature

Hello lovely helpdesk people. I recently moved and imported my overlays, tips and settings from streamlabs and got 99% of it to work. The only thing that didn't go so smoothly was setting up a tip goal.

Setting a goal went fine, but it says I am at €200 of my current goal, while I actually was at $100 (SL only works with USD), of which almost 33% was taken as a cut by SL, so realisticly I was at about $67.

I tried several things, including clearing out my tip history. Is there a way to adjust the current progression of a tipping goal?

I see now. Paypal charges USD0.30 per tip, plus 2.9% of the amount. I received several tips of $1, which means with each and every one of those tips Paypal took about $0.33, so this wasn't necessarily SL's fault. Using access through a websocket there is some stuff that can be done but if you're asking this question then it's going to be very unlikely I can explain to you how. You could however either use a program such as teamviewer to access their PC (if they're okay with it) or you could create a profile for them on your PC and they could install that profile

I am logged in as usual and on random occasions I need to log out and in again. I do not understand why I need to do this over and over again I just want to login and keep myself logged in without me needing the worry that something will not work when I am about to go online.

I set my StreamElements bot to my channel name (SecretLunchbox) recently because i wanted it to be able to use my sub emotes in chat.
It worked for about a week, but it stopped working for today's stream and now the only way the bot will work is if I change it back to having the vanilla "StreamElements" name.
I've tried parting and joining the bot to my channel again, too.
Doesn't seem to be working - although i will say that when i try to rejoin the bot to the channel, it sometimes gives me a failure message. Even then, however, the stock "StreamElements" named bot works just fine...
just not when i choose Change bot name > Change to SecretLunchbox
Honestly, this wouldn't be a huge deal if I hadn't set the bot to use sub emotes already.
If you guys could give me some help in fixing this, i'd appreciate it. i have a stream coming up tomorrow and would like to get it up and running again. ❤️

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

Also, by playing with the !roulette command, I found out that the bot is receiving and processing the commands (the number of channel points i have changed when i tried it with the faulty bot and then tried with the working bot), it's just not putting the responses in chat. it seems that it may just be lacking some kind of permission? but as my name, it should have broadcaster level permissions, so i don't really know what's going wrong.

Hello I have a rather complicated problem and I couldn't find anything helpful online, so I need help from you guys here.
Here we go:
Since a few days my OBS.Live is crashing after 5-10 minutes and most of the time it takes down my pc as well. I have 2 monitors which both go black and my right one (AOC Q27G2G4 with G-Sync enabled) gets disconnected. Restarting my pc fixes everything. One of the few times I didn't need to restart my pc, the error message said something about memory overflow.
I've seen people having similar issues, but not as bad as mine with crashing the pc and stuff, talking about a memory leak caused by the browser sources. So I deleted all my Alert and Chatbox browser sources (which I still had from using StreamLabs before StreamElements), but sadly this didn't fix the problem.
I did a windows update recently which didn't let me tab back into games if a program was on top of it, but I've uninstalled the problematic update, even though I'm not sure if this is still the root of all evil.
I am out of options here. I am available for talking about it and questions, if you need more information like my system specs.
Btw the system specs shouldn't be a problem, since streaming before went fine the last months/years.

Oh yeah and I totally forgot to mention that this only happens when running a game. In this case it was KAMIKO.
If I only have OBS open nothing happens regardless of how long I have the program running

Hey, i got a question about media request. I have split my audio and want to play song request on Ground control or off google chrome. However sometimes i get media request playing out of obs.live at the same time, resulting in double audio with different delays. Is there a way to mute/disable media request in obs.live?

How to separate Media Request (MR) audio in OBS:

MUTE MR FOR YOURSELF, STREAM CAN HEAR

1. Make a new overlay in the editor, ONLY add the Media Request widget.
2. Add a new browser source in OBS, add the URL and set the dimensions correctly.
3. Tick the box for Control audio via OBS
4. Go to Edit > Advanced Audio, set your MR overlay to Monitor Off. Note: This will play through the Desktop Audio, if you mute your desktop audio, it will mute the MR.

CONTROL AUDIO SEPARATELY FROM YOU AND STREAM

1. For this you will need a VAC (use command !vac).
2. Run your MR either in Chrome or in Ground Control (use command !gc). Note: Do NOT click on SHOW ON STREAM.
3. Set Chrome or GC in the VAC as an audio input and output.
4. Add the audio output from VAC as an audio input in OBS. Note: This will not be able to show the video in OBS.

Hi, so I have been reaching this weird issue on my hosting alert.

Due to reasons that they did not communicate with anyone, Twitch decided not to show raids with less than 5 and sometimes even up to 10 viewers anymore. These will therefore not trigger an alert anymore until Twitch decides to undo this recent change. There is nothing we can do about that and hope that Twitch will revert these changes soon.

Hey, currently setting up a new machine & I'm unable to see the StreamElements overlays in the OBS preview monitor.

I've attempted to reload the overlays, as well as copy/pasting the overlay URL again in the designated scene. The stream details page is also missing, and not a dock-able tool either.

Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

There are no "best settings".
Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterward, but not a list of settings.

I've got a feeling I'm going to need to go into my computer and literally delete out all files and traces of OBS.live (and potentially OBS) and redownload. Another more unusual thing (for me) I did to attempt to implement Spectralizer 1.3.4 was installing Homebrew in terminal, and fttw (program needed to run spectralizer) within Homebrew. Hello 😊 Is it possible to change the delay of my stream after it has started? Lets say I have started it with a 25sec delay, can it be changed while I am live, or do I have to restart the stream for it to take effect? Thanks in advance

Hi there - does anybody know how I can downsize the streamelements overlays? I stream in 720P, so when I use the overlays from streamelements none of them fit and I'm not sure how to fix this issue. Thank you.

(Even when I set the the dimension on the browser source to 1080 x 720 it still doesnt fit)

Additionally, if I change my video resolution settings to 1920 x 1080 - it works fine, but I dont think I am able to stream in this resolution without it being laggy, so I need the overlays to fit 1080 x 720. Thanks again.

Hello, I am new and have a question about how the overlays work, when I try to add them as a browser source they always seem overly large and I cannot seem to scale them to the size that would make them visible on the screen, what am I doing wrong, I am using a canvas size of 1920 x1080 and and output of 1280x720 to account for internet and dropped frames, is that why the overlays are so large?

Add your overlays as browser sources with a height of 1080 and width of 1920. If the overlay appears larger than the preview window you can use CTRL+F to fit to canvas

im new to a dual pc setup and I am running NDI. When I first started using NDI my stream quality was amazing. then a couple days go by and I start dropping a lot of frames in the region of 80%+ so i fixed the network portion and got the bitrate right but now the stream coming through to the streaming pc is extremely laggy.+

I tried doing a test stream where I don't go live but it records my bitrate and encoding and rendering lag and I miss no frames what soever. But it's the preview on the streaming pc that lags really bad. And that preview sends to twitch with the same lag the preview has on the streaming pc. The preview on the gaming pc is perfectly fine
I even tried uninstalling the ndi plug in to see if that would miraculously fix my problem but it didn't

I tried using a laptop to view my ndi source and the quality is perfect theres nothing wrong with it whatsoever and my laptop is running off of wifi and my streaming computer is hard wired and has a worse quality then my laptop on wifi

You could try using NDI 5, I haven’t personally tested it with obs but it’s worth looking at

Hey im new to the discord and not really a streamer but i'm setting up a little custom irc client reader for my brothers streams! Im trying to get cheers to appear in chat like they do with subscriptions and gifted subs, where streamelements send the message in chat. is there a setting anywhere that does this for cheers or bits? if im in the wrong place just let me know and ill correct that, but otherwise id appreciate the help!

I can't seem to get my follower alerts to show on stream, they show when I emulate them on the overlay editor, but I had a few people follow me and it never showed on stream.

Can you open up OBS and the website at the same time. When you emulate on the website, they will appear in OBS.

You won't see the test events in the activity feed. But if you test the alert on the website and see it in OBS.Live, then it will appear when you are live to the viewers

If you are seeing the emulation on both the website and in OBS.Live at the same time then it will work. But; if real followers are not showing the alert and NOT appearing in the activity feed, then that would mean there is an account issue and your SE isn't getting the information from the service. You'd want to ask in the helpdesk for the service you use; i.e. #helpdesk-twitch

The tipping alert and the follow alert are the only ones that work in OBS and the overlay editor, but never showed on stream when I was streaming.
