@noble birch If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

@halcyon widget The default resolution for StreamElements overlays (theme and custom) is 1920x1080. Please add them in OBS at their full resolution and use CTRL+F to fit to screen if necessary. You can then downscale your stream in OBS settings > Video if you'd like https://i.imgur.com/6bWXxjR.png

are you not able to freely resize your sources in OBS by just clicking them?

you can also right click a source > transform > edit transform if you prefer

#

you want to make sure the overlay's 'screen space' is in fact transparent and not black,
and that the game source is sized, positioned and is listed in your sources based on what you want [below or above other certain sources]

Trying to setup NDI to stream from one PC to another. 2 PCs are plugged into a Gigabit Switch via Cat 6/7, but then this Gigabit Switch is plugged into a TP-Link with a Cat.5 cable. Is this going to cause it to NOT work? Both Adapters show 1.0Gbps Speed.

it won't affect NDI but NDI will have less bandwith to work with

When I had roommates and a lot of devices were connected to WIFI it reduced my overall output

but LAN connection [as in the connection between your PCs] is reliable and shouldn't suffer from these devices connecting to your network

regarding NDI settings I just use monitor output

you basically need to put the overlay above the game capture, and be full screen
and you can lock it in place to avoid moving it
and then make the game source smaller and have it fit to that box

you can hold shift to resize unproportionally
and you can hold alt if you want to crop the source

#

that's how ultimately you can fit it in that box
it doesn't necessarily need to be below the overlay, that's up to you, but resize properly should be enough

You can create a profile for twitch with appropriate OBS Stream settings and a profile for YT with appropriate stream settings. You'll also probably want to create a Twitch Scene Collection and YT Scene Collection so your overlays represent the correct platform. You will still need to log out of the streamelements menu and log in with the appropriate channel if you wish to use the StreamElements plug-in panels

k so i went to add a tip jar to obs and i added it wrong so i tried to delete the widget. made sure that was the only thing selected and then hit delete

No, it's not a bug. Again, it's about your overlay playing to a different device than what you're listening through.

Either adjust your Settings>Audio or go to your Advanced Audio Settings and set the device to Monitor and Output. Depends on how you've set things up.

Hey I've been having issues with my activity feed on both the dashboard through browser as well as OBS. Follows don't show up on either, which means alerts are not going through and are not updating on overlays. I posted that a while back how i logged out and in through obs, checked my filters and saw follows were checked and was told to try through the dashboard to have the bot leave and reenter. Nothing has worked so far.

Been trying to fix this issue for two days now. I open OBS studios and click on start streaming. Usually a window will pop up and ask for the title and description of the stream but now all of a sudden it simply starts streaming. This wouldnt be too bad however even though it says that I am streaming my facebook chat does not pop up nor does my activity feed. I go to facebook and it does not show that I am live at all. I even try seeing the stream from someone elses account and it still doesnt show that I am live. tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still doing the samething. Any help would be great because I am now two days without a live stream.

honestly as a user i really like streamelements, but when things go wrong, i rarely come here cuz i know i wont get help.

whether the bot is activated by staff or not, having a bot respond when you clearly have a large list of staff if very frustrating and disappointing as a user.

Out of the entire staff i see 1 MAYBE 2 people of the staff who actually respond.

I hope you guys will not take this as an attack but I would like that being in this frustrating position is quite upsetting and i just would like you guys to see that.

As it isn’t an issue with streamelements but an issue with how you have your audio configured in obs, they are more capable of providing a solution to your issue

#

Odds are that you set default audio devices in your obs settings and your alerts are not playing in your windows default audio device which is why you can’t hear them

#

Hey there, I made some alerts and wanted to enter them into my OBS Streamelements, I entered it in the browser section for a Display Source. I believe I did everything right as I watched a popular youtuber go over it, but it won;t show up for me. I refreshed the cache of the current page and it still wont work!

@silk forge We're not able to troubleshoot issues with using our overlays in StreamLabs OBS (SLOBS) as we don't have the tools to support their software. We recommend using OBS Studio or OBS Studio with our plugin OBS.Live.

OK so today I'm having an issue with Stream Elements OBS. I have streamed with Stream Elements for two weeks using my PS5 and today is the first time I am having issues. I am getting a BLACK SCREEN whenever I try to stream today. Everything is set up just as it was yesterday, but nothing is showing up on my gaming laptop. Yesterday, nothing showed up but all I can remember doing is closing it out and bringing it back up and it worked fine. Today, not so much. The screen is still black on all my scenes and it wont bring anything up. I have never had to do anything as far as running obs as admin (whatever that means) so I am not sure what the issues is right now.

so i've been having an issue for like the past month....everytime i open obs live it essentially crashes my browsers amd slows them down a crap load. it only happens when obs is opened or when im streming, but if i close it and wait a min then everything goes back to normal. i just cant seem to figure out why it effects my browsers and how it could be fixed. any help would be awesome and very very much appreciated. plz tag me if u respond to this.

@worldly dagger If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

On every start of OBS the overlays are loaded initally depending on your browser soruce settings also only when you activate that scene. So it will be empty on every start of OBS so, or so.

you need to restart OBS and the browser after installing a new font
try putting the font name like this in the editor: 'fontname'

I'm using a razer ripsaw hd game capture from xbox one x to PC - i havent tried streaming live yet but im getting this issue - some game work fine then theres other swhere this is happens. Hey, during a stream today I noticed a got a handful of new followers but my alerts we're working. After the stream I went and made sure the alerts themselves were still working and they are. I then noticed the that the stream elements activity feed hadn't been updated with the new followers, however the twitch activity feed does show the new followers. I've tried to remove the permissions on the twitch side and re-authorize them on the stream elements side but it's still not picking up on the new activities.

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to my issue i am having, when i'm testing my alert sounds through streamelement to my OBS its all working fine, but when i go live and my alerts are activated by viewers i am only getting the gif that is coming up but no sounds attached to it. @slender moss Our Dashboard and Overlay Editor are Chromium Optimized. We strongly recommend using Chrome. Opera GX and the new Microsoft Edge Chromium might work closest to Chrome as its also Chromium built. Firefox also works, but some things might look a bit different or not work. We do not recommend using Internet Explorer with our Dashboard as it does not support functions.
If the website doesn’t work on chrome, be sure none of your plugins is blocking our website or clear your cookies. You can try if the website works in an incognito tab.

I don't know if I could get help with this here, it might be a problem for Epic Games more so. But I want to keep you in the loop.

Whenever I have OBS live open at the same time as Fortnite, and I alt tab while in Fortnite the game crashes. Only when OBS is open on my other monitor. Whether it be at launch or mid game.

I'm using DX12 on Fortnite. Game Capture on OBS. I've uninstalled all plugins (Apart from Streamelments) and Verified my game files.

Again this may be a problem for Epic games not you guys, but wanted to keep you in the loop. My guess is; its a DX12 compatibility issue.

@slender moss go here in your streamelements dashboard and (click the ... button) "copy URL" of the overlay you're using, then paste that into your browser and see if THAT shows your overlay properly.

@pale saddle what is the order in the Sources list in OBS? if its lower on the list, it may be behind something else. your overlays will need to be up near the top (click the ^ and v arrows next to the gear below sources)

turn the old source off (click the eye icon to close it) then add a new Browser source, take the URL from your overlay directly from the StreamElements website

I think my problem is beyond OBS, I use OperaGX to browse, but I have Chrome installed.

earlier I was having trouble loading the overlays editor page, but in OperaGX it worked again, but not in Chrome, I formatted the PC recently, maybe some plugin is missing so that Chrome can read the Overlays

hmm... i suppose connectivity may be a possible issue in your case if you were having difficulty loading the editor, though chrome should be able to view overlays with a fresh install.

yes. sorry. i missed the question... as for the update error you're getting, i guess simply enough, i would go to that file, right click > properties and make sure Read Only isn't checked. if it is checked, uncheck it, apply, then click the "Retry" button.

ah, profile includes just basic OBS settings that you've changed, however Scene Collection includes the scene and source settings. so Export your Profile and Scene Collection from OBS, then import them after a reinstall.

Hey guys, I just got this new pair of Jeecoo Xiberia headphones, and for some reason it's not showing up in OBS Studio (for Mac) as a device either as an audio input capture or an audio output capture. I know the USB is connecting because the headphones are lighting up, but still can't get it to show as a device. The headphones do work when I use the audio jack that comes along with it but I can't connect them as a device through that- think I need the USB. Any help is MUCH appreciated

@unreal topaz So then it's probably one of two things. Either you have more than one browser source with the overlay loaded in OBS, or you might have multiple overlays with the media request widget, or both.

Make sure that you have all browser sources in your OBS set to "Shutdown source when not visible" otherwise you might have an extra overlay somewhere that keeps playing in the background. Also, if your overlay editor is open, it will also be playing audio there, and not just in OBS.

Second, if you have multiple StreamElements overlays, make sure that you only have one media request widget that would be active among them all. e.g. if you have, say, 3 SE overlays, and in one scene you use two of them, make sure that the two you're using there don't both have the widget.

@real nexus visuals for alerts are working, correct? If so, right click on the browser source with your alerts overlay in OBS, select properties, and try checking "Control audio via OBS". this will add a new item into the Audio Mixer panel in OBS that shares a name with the browser source. using this, you can adjust the volume, mute, and more importantly, see audio activity via the colored bar. then test an alert and check if you see audio activity on the bar.

if you're able to use the Activity Feed panel to replay a recent alert, that would be ideal to test it

but running an emulated test from the StreamElements overlay editor would work, too, if you have the emulated test set to "Preview LIVE on stream"

yeah. I ended my stream and went back - it WAS playing through the stream but not through my headset so I wasn't hearing it on my end but unclicking the "control audio" fixed that

stuttering and blurred video... are you getting any dropped frames? are you having trouble with audio? if not, it might be the bitrate you're streaming at. if it is, increasing bitrate will help sharpen the image, but only if your internet speed supports it. decreasing the bitrate would make it smoother, but it'll look pixelated if your streamed resolution/framerate is too high.

My friend is currently streaming. He is experiencing an issue where his stream gameplay is stuttering, but the gameplay on his end is not. His cam and audio is not having issues, and he has not dropped any frames in obs or experienced "encoder overloaded". This stuttering was not happening on fortnite, but it is currently happening on COD: Black ops cold war. I have his current log file if that will help

hmm... Do you know what GPU you have? everything looks pretty solid there. the only things i can think of would be to perhaps try turning off Psycho Visual Tuning (seeing a lot of mixed opinions on that setting) and maybe switching to the x264 Encoder.

try this... copy the settings as best you can over to the Recording tab of Output, and try recording you playing a game. see if there's any blur or chopping in the recorded video.

i know you've got upload near 10, but an example, i'm clocking at about 12Mbps upload, but if i try to push my bitrate over 4k i start seeing performance issues on the stream. i can record at a 15k+ bitrate without any issue.

@tulip hamlet I just don't like things that I don't know being added/ auto configured (only just installed OBS.live). I'm only familiar with BTTV as I use it while watching streams but I've never heard of FrankerFaceZ and it seems a lot more complicated to setup.

@sage orchid if logitech's software for the cam is running the cam won't be shown in both places
you don't need to choose 'logi' as the device as that's their software, choose the actual webcam and make sure nothing else uses it on your PC
run OBS as admin

Hi, I have two OBS profiles with two different twitch accounts. When I switch profile no pb for OBS and Twitch but StreamElements stays connected either on one or the other twitch account, I have to manually logout/login each time I change my profile (to get activity feed etc...)

from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

so to circumvent both issues - you will have to create a blank overlay, move the alert widget to that overlay, remove the alert widget from the old overlays, add the new overlay to 1 scene, without the "shutdown when inactive" option turned on, right click the new browser source -> copy -> go to other scene -> paste as reference the source

I had downloaded an overlay and gone in to edit it. I added customer sounds, set minimum amounts to trigger alerts and then copied the URL into a browser source. During the stream I got sound alerts for follows, raids and subs but no on screen message. I did not get either sound or text for hosts, and they didnt come up in activity feed so had no notification of any hosts at all (of which I know there were several). Am thinking I havent set something up - or changed something I ought not to have. If anyone can help then let me know - feel free to DM me 🙂

Hi I'm currently trying to get media requests to play the music through stream and also would like to use the feature so my friends can request songs and things. I've changed the platform I want to use in settings, but hitting the "Start Streaming" button gives me the prompt for Youtube. I'm not sure how to fix this issue.

@pallid salmon Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

@ashen arrow Valve has implemented a trusted mode which does not allow OBS to hook CS:GO using Game Capture. Read more in their announcement post here https://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2020/07/30736/.

Additionally, they have no plans on allowing OBS in trusted mode.

You will need to run the game in either windowed or borderless fullscreen and use Window Capture instead.

I'm only able to get sound for my store redemptions in OBS.Live if I have the SE overlay editor up on a browser tab. I have the store redemption widget installed on my overlay and it has worked in the past but if I save changes and close my editor, the item is redeemed in OBS without the sound playing on stream.

Can I provide my 6 crash reports to someone in here? I just had 6 OBS.live crashes within a 2 hr period.

Didn't matter what I changed, it just kept crashing about anywhere between 7 mins to 1 hr.

I sent the report via the dialog box each time.

Alright, so i'm getting into streaming and set up my profile all nice and everything, used a preset overlay from streamlabs, and everything was good yesterday for my first stream (using game capture as my source, this will be important later)

Come today, I am trying to figure out why my display capture source isn't working, and it has to do with me using a laptop and the integrated GPU/Standalone GPU setup that they have for power saving. Cool, so after looking around I find the solution. I go into the windows graphics settings and set my graphics preference to power saving for OBS, and voila, I can use display capture for games that weren't working with the game capture source finally.

So now comes the tricky part, I go back into OBS and my overlays aren't working (using browser as my source, and the streamelements website/built in overlay thing) so I try and refresh them using the reload overlay button built into OBS, deleting and re adding them to my sources list to make sure the link wasn't changed for whatever reason, or i didn't mess it up by accident. Still nothing, so out of curiosity, I go back into my graphics setting and set my preference to High Performance on OBS, re launch it, and my overlays are working again. I thought maybe it's a bug or a weird little glitch, I switch back to Power Saving and once again they are not working. I tried setting my google chrome to use both Power Saving and High Performance, to no avail... as well as restarting all of my overlay sources while on power saving mode (deleting and re adding into my sources list). I can't seem to figure out why, or what is causing it to not work properly when set to Power Saving mode.

So I've been having this problem everytime I open up my obs. My webcam doesn't work. It says its on and i made sure that every scene except the one im using it on is turned off so that its only being used once, and its not being used on any other app. It worked yesterday when I updated obs studio but when I turned it back on today it no longer works

@ornate fog To add your overlays to OBS, add a new browser source in your scene. Paste your overlay URL in the browser source properties, set the dimensions to 1920x1080 (unless you changed them on the website) and check Shutdown source when not visible. https://youtu.be/KDvLynUqXI4

Hi there! I am completely new to streaming... literally just about to start. So I am using a Macbook pro and I have stumbled upon the fact obs.live is not available for mac.

Do you add your overlays directly in OBS or you import them as browser sources from Streamelements/Streamlab ? Are there any difference s in terms of performance?

Im trying to test out the game capture option

"capture foreground window with hotkey"

But when I go to settings > hotkey I don't sere where to define that

@loud orbit You can test alerts via the Emulate bell on the lower left side of the Overlay Editor. Simply go to your Dashboard > My Overlays > pencil/edit button on the overlay. Make sure the Preview LIVE on stream option is on to see the alert in OBS/XSplit** https://streamable.com/vtulg9
