I would get the latest version of OBS Studio from their site and install that first, so you have the latest OBS Studio, then install OBS.Live

What I did, added the Elgato HD60 capture device as a video source. Then set its audio properties for monitoring to Monitor (no output) and I can hear it as well as viewers.
if you click on the cogwheel of that source and go to advance properties, the monitor settings are there.

So... I am streaming with obs and obs.live and capturing my game with game capture... I play on low settings, 120fps locked but there is not a single difference in 60-120 or unlimited fps setting. So the problem is when i am starting the stream and capturing the game, my game starts to look like not 60fps... Its a little bit choppy mouse movement is slow... Its like micro-microstuttering like below 60fps but ingame counter is above 60 every time so i dont really know what is happening there.

@half sphinx I had that issue once. It was in Overwatch. When I went into the game and locked my FPS to 60 or 80, that all went away. Might could try that, if the game allows it.

Hi, Im trying to stream for the first time and would like to use animated overlays. My problem is that with the overlays they cover up part of the stream. I am using the League of legends overlays from streamelements and put them under browser in my source. Did i do this correctly. Is there a way to make it more transparent?

you can also try bicubic instead of lanczos for the down sample filter
well, if you are not willing to try vsync, then you might not be able to stream fortnite from this PC, as your GPU cant keep up with rendering the canvas. If setting the output to 720p using bicubic does not work, that is really your only option left. You can try nvenc, but that never looks as nice, and you can still easily overload your GPU

standard stuff. Prime95 for system stability, try some uniengine benchmarks to see if your GPU will even hit 100% usage. Doubt you have a PSU tester to actually test the PSU is outputting on the 12v rail properly, so not sure what to tell you for that

Having an issue trying to install StreamElements OBS. I keep getting this pop-up when trying to install, I click close and resume install and then nothing. Yet nothing else is running that interferes with it. I even uninstalled OBS thinking it was the issue.

SLOBS scenes/overlays use their own special overlay type file that normal OBS Studio doesn't support and our overlay system also doesn't support.

Due to recent changes to Twitch API, we have filtered out hosts and will only show these ones on your activity feed:
- All manual host events (0 hosts included and if filter set to 0)
- All auto host events with at least 1 viewer

All of our widgets are created within an overlay. So when you import your alertbox, you go to My Overlays (on our site) - there will be one named Streamlabs imported alertbox.
You can further edit this or add other widgets to this overlay, then you add the overlay via a browser source in obs
or you can keep it just the alertbox if you wish

@Nethyr one thing I had to note was that all of the overlays I put into OBS looked like it was a cut off. I had to use the transform fit to screen on the preview window before it got corrected. That took me a bit of time to figure out how to fix it.

Overlays default as 1920x1080. If your OBS canvas is 720p instead, yeah, it'll get cut off when first added and needs to be fit.

Alerts just show up the moment you get an alert(follow/sub).
You essentially load up the overlay in OBS and its there until you switch a scene that has another overlay to laod

Any spike or usage of CPU is based on what you have o nthe overlay.
most of the time video files (.webms) tend to take a bit of CPU power to constantly render/play
but thats due to, and afaik from recent info, how .webm files are optimized.

If you have a long/heavy .webm file as the alert it self, instead of a gif for example, then most likely you will see a mini spike, but it shouldn't affect you really.

I can't really tell you in detail, because we never had any complaints about the alert widget spiking CPU usage
but we do know that our Pre-made animated theme overlays are a bit CPU heavy due to all the video files it loads and renders all the time.

Yes, definitely. If your scene doesn't have the audio element your viewers won't hear it. Unless I'm misunderstanding you.

Then it's only played when you're in the scene. But you can quickly test it with a local recording. Hit record, change the scene, stop record and watch it.

I only see Desktop Audio, Mic/Aux, and Camera. I don't see anything for the game itself or any of the other hardware I have in this system.
And it seems like the game is at least being metered on the Desktop Audio... which doesn't really help me, because on the Starting, BRB, and Ending scenes, I wouldn't want that playing because I have the audio elements that play.

Games are put out over desktop audio, so you will hear it on your starting screen if you don't mute it. Audio sources that only play when the scenes becomes active will only be audible there. As I said, bets to just make a short recording and listen to it, it get a feel for it. Then you know what to look out for.

First of all, don't stream with a wi-fi connection. This is the biggest bad idea you can have.
wi-fi is not meant for streaming, as you need a constant 100% stable connection

Well, this is odd, as this does show OBS Studio running without OBS.Live. The only suggestion I would have at this point would be to completely uninstall OBS Studio. DL the OBS installer from the OBS site, install this, and then install OBS.Live again.

OK my first question with the new OBS.Live StreamDeck integration. How does Media Request Toggle Requests work? I have the media widget installed on my overlays, and currently use Ground Control to turn on/off song requests. When I try to use the new button on the application nothing happens, and the button actually has a 🚫 in the top right corner.

Hey, so it seems there might be a bit of a problem with the activity feed's ability to change the title and game category.
What I'm noticing seems to be that if you change the GAME then edit the TITLE, pressing save doesn't always save the game, and simply leaves it at what it was.

Hi Everyone. So, I'm using OBS Studio with obs.live plugin, and have it setup per the StreamElements recommend settings. My question is, on the preview window, I wait for the overlay to load before pushing it live. When I send it live a fade transition, it disappears and then reloads. What would cause that? So far, it's only the game overlay doing it.
Nevermind. I think I might have figured it out. I guess my next question is, though, the countdown time seems to skip pause and skip seconds. Is that a CPU thing on my side or part of the template?

Thats due to CPU load. Most animated overlays are a bit heavy, which can cause the countdown timer to skip or hang on a second.
I've seen this happen to me, as I'm on a i5-4440 CPU

The only thing that's animated really is the scrollers and the timer itself.
I watched the scrollers really carefully, I didn't see them hiccup or anything, either.

One thing I can think of is, clearing the cache of the browser sources and/or just deleting all the overlays and adding them back in.
Just to make sure everything is clean with them.

So it looks like it's a aspect ratio thing. It's just a hair off on the sides but the top and bottom work perfectly.

yeah. I can see that. That's very helpful. I've been to used to XSplit.. but after the many problems I've been having, I decided to ditch it and go to OBS with StreamElements instead of XSplit and Streamlabs.
I'm sure there's a ton more for me to learn.

I only have a limited time to fix up my channel. I'm hurting my stats by not going live right now, I know it.
But this didn't become painfully obvious until a large viewing audience on Saturday Night / Sunday Morning. I felt I was doing a real disservice to the viewers by using such a crappy setup where even my webcam was lagging behind.
So, this portion of the setup is the first thing to get done. after that, getting a better GPU, and a StreamDeck for easy control.
I just wished I knew why the timer was skipping. my cpu usage is under 20% even.

Not really. OBS isn't directly connected to SE/ the SE Editor so you can't use OBS' hotkeys for controlling for SE stuff. But there are plugins for OBS and I think there is a countdown plugin. It won't look nice but should do the trick.

hey, when ever i hit start streaming i get an "Invalid Path or Connection URL. Please check you settings to confirm that they are valid." error. Also whenever I refresh the countdown overlay in the browser, the timer will reset on the browser but not in obs.

also you can also select the option "refresh browser source when scene becomes active" on your countdown overlay in OBS, this way you would not need to refresh it in the browser every time.

You add a webcam source to your sources list and the just move it and resize it to the webcam border of the overlay.

lightstream lets you stream directly from XBOX to MIXER without having a capture card....
then you just adjust overlays and widgets in a browser window and they combine that with your stream and broadcast it

Heya, i've been having this problem where both my desktop audio is absent and my mic sounds robotic when i first start streaming. However, if i stop streaming, close obs.live and then restart the stream a second time both desktop audio is restored and mic sound fine. Any ideas what is going on here? Thanks in advance.

I think its a long shot but can you provide a log file with the problematic audio? I doubt its listed there, but doesn't hurt to try.

You don't set your mic as a source. You set it at Settings > Audio
tbh I'm not sure what to do in this case. I think that's pure overloading with all those media sources.
@finite wedge Okay I just asked the OBS team. You're probably overloading your CPU big time. Check your CPU usage and if that isn't a problem, then you're plain overloading OBS.

Well I love memes and I know what you mean but I'm not sure if even a second PC dedicated to streaming could handle this. How about uploading all of your stuff to SE and add it as a overlay. A single overlay. Would be much easier to handle for your PC.

Hi there, i've just watched the video to do with music requests and how you can set your own backup list.
I can link my playlist and says "saved" at the top right, yet when I go back to main list of songs in my Queue it only shows the first 5. I've tried clicking on "show more" but only shows the first 5.
in the video it shows all of hers out of the playlist in the queue. is there something im doing wrong?

So the video sound goes by default to the desktop audio
but if you can make the browser play sound via another channel, then you can have it set like that

Hi guys, I'm new with SLOBS as I migrated from OBS only since more or less 1 month.
Actually I'm streaming AC Origins, for example, and I noticed that sometimes the stream on twitch has some lags, depending on the game scene, more during cinematics and some random parts of gameplay
