I was just wondering if there was a way to make user names appear the same colour in OBSLive as they do in Twitch? Or simply just select a colour at random when they join the channel. At the moment everyone new who doesn't manually set their colour appears as grey in OBSLive and it's quite difficult to distinguish between viewers at a glance.

That is not possible. Color is based on their twitch color, if they have not set a color, their name will be grey

Hello everyone! I'm having a weird issue with the sound of my notifications in OBSLive. Occasionally, a notification will make the sound two or three times instead of just once. The notification doesn't pop up on screen multiple times, it just makes the sound multiple times. It'll usually be about a second or two apart between sounds. I double checked within the overlay on StreamElements and ran test notifications in the overlay editor, and the sound should only be occurring once. Thoughts?

its not that simple, its not just an option you select. You need to route your audio sources with either a software mixer, hardware mixer, of if you are on the latest Windows 10, you can route audio with that.

Explain your issue then. If you're wanting to use a theme, you hit the create button, enter a name, and the overlays will show up in your my overlays tab on the site. then you can customize it further or grab the link and use it in obs as a browser source

To use our overlays, you add it as a browser source, they should work with any broadcasting software that supports a browser source. Also, this channel, is specifically for support with our OBS plugin, OBS.Live. Unfortunately, SLOBS uses their own format for overlay, so those can't be imported over to us. OBS.Live is just a plugin for OBS Studio that adds activity feed, chat and renaming of our bot.

If they were added to SL's alert box, we can import it via the import tool, but if it was added via SLOBS' overlay manager, then we can't import those.
If you still have the files, then you can easily add them to our overlay editor's media gallery, when you change images of the alert widget.

ah, that is likely because the game company itself has put in blocks to the way that OBS grabs the game capture as it has been linked to cheats. You should be able to capture using a Window Capture

if you are streaming now, you will want to go to View > Stats, to see what is happening

what are you trying to stream? Best things to try are limiting frame rate, or using vsync, lowering in game settings, or using resolution scaling (if supported)

so, with nvenc it is all done on the gpu, and nvidia has done a good enough job with that series (improving every gen, with RTX being best) that the gpu can better manage the workload. When you use x264 encoding you run a higher risk of the canvas renderer, and other gpu work fighting for resources, with the renderer usually losing that fight. That is why you will need to try to limit the gpu more, especially with how the UE4 engine can render frames. With games like fortnite, you will usually get getter results with limiting the frame rate, or using vsync. Also with that gen of cards, there will be some games that simply wont play nice with OBS. I know, I have an x2700 and a 980 using x264 720/60, and desperately want to upgrade my gpu.

Ah okay, I opened up the OBS native hotkeys screen to check it wasn't conflicting and saw that it has a bind in there too, which was F17. After closing the hotkey menu it's working correctly now.

Game capture will not work for every game. It relies on DirectX or OpenGL to hook into the game. In some instances it is just not possible to hook into the game, or games anti-cheat prevent this from happening. If you have already ensured you are running OBS as admin, then your only options are to use Window Capture, or Display Capture to capture the game

Just a little side note: Please don't stream in 1080p60 if you're planning to stream games with a lot of movement or details like shooters or racing games. You actually need 8000+kbps or a dedicated streaming rig to get good looking 1080p60 stream.

The log is not from a stream, so its hard to say what to suggest, without knowing what the issue is. I can say though, that if you are trying to do x264 with that CPU, its not going to work out too well, and you would want to use nvenc encoding in that case. Then it would be a matter of your bitrate, if the choppiness is network related, and not with rendering or encoding

ok I know this might sound kind of stupid, but I am trying to figure out how to get most resent subscriber and follower into obs, I have been using SLOBS and it's starting to get all wonky on me, so a friend suggested OBS and I see the GDI+ but for what ever reasons it's just giving me text only. I am sorry this might be the most silliest thing to ask, but I have tried youtube and google and their bringing stuff up from like 2016. please any assistance would be awesome

OBS is not like SLOBS, it does not come with anything in regards to alerts or labels. You can make overlays at https://streamelements.com/ and simply add them as a Browser source in OBS. If you are looking to have chat integrated, then that is where we would recommend using our plugin, OBS.Live.

Neither StreamElements nor OBS affect your Internet in any way so it has to be something with your internet or twitch.

Try to stop your stream and start it again. It could be a reconnect triggered by your ISP if you're on a DSL connection. A reconnect often takes only a few seconds, sometimes less then a second so you don't really notice it but it's enough to interrupt the RTMP connection from you to twitch because RTMP is pretty sensitive.

Looks like some sort of corruption, possibly even with your Windows profile, or something causing the removal or corruption of the scene collection, like antivirus, even though it looks like you are just using Windows Defender. As this is the only indicator of the issue in the log:

overheating has nothing to do with it, its all about the workload and available resources. If OBS dips below 60fps, that is an indication that your GPU is maxing out on resources, and OBS cant keep up with everything else
your best options are to limit FPS or use vsync to limit FPS, lower in game settings, or if the game supports it, lowering the resolution scaling below full rez

thats kind of a loaded question, as it really depends on your system and what you are streaming. CPU will usually give higher quality, but you tend to have a higher risk of the GPU not being able to keep up with the workload with how the resource allocation happens on the GPU. For hardware encoding nvenc is really the only decent option, but it will typically have a lower visual quality, but you also run less of a risk overloading the GPU, since the GPU is handling everything it can better manage resources

@rugged quail The YT should just be a regular browser source correct? So they should still appear on-stream if you don't login to obs live.

@kind pawn From speaking with elgato at twitchcon, they've been making a lot of updates to the streamdecks since Tcon. Always updating drivers help 😃

@rugged quail I haven't streamed with YouTube and as you @sinful flint stated OBS.Live is only supporting twitch, you might get more help in #helpdesk-youtube . Sorry man, i'm a fan but I've only used twitch so far. 😦
I think it would depend on how you stream on Youtube. So long as the way you stream still captures/displays the URL from the overlays, I see no reason for it to not work.

@rugged quail A browser source from our site (regardless of whether it's for Twitch or YouTube) will work in OBS.Live, it's just that the activity feed and chat isn't supported for YouTube in OBS.Live yet

So the past few days after starting stream 10 minutes or so goes by then obs disconnects for 20-30 seconds or so then auto reconnects itself. It’s not my internet and only obs is affected by this... it sometimes will do it again an hour or so later. It fixes itself almost immediately but is this a known problem and is there a fix? It’s annoying because it ends stream and causes me to lose viewers since they think I went offline. So if they don’t stick around for the 30 seconds or so they don’t see me just come right back on.... appreciate the help in advance

hello when i test out my donation overlay it doubles the TTS voice and it seems like it is broken. I tried remaking the overlay, remaking the alert box. i have run out of options. this also happens while in stream

@lilac isle I'm thinking this is stream server related. Do you have it set to auto or a specific twitch server?

@lilac isle You might just be having special issues with one server. Maybe try setting just one server at a time, find out if there's one server that you keep getting disconnected from?
This is more of an OBS/Twitch thing rather than SE thing.

The only way you can have an overlay from SE is through a Browser source. If you are saying that you do not have any SE links in any browsers sources in any scenes in SLOBS, but somehow there is, that would be a SLOBS problem, and we can not help with that. Hi I have a little problem at my OBS I got some overlays at my browser source. But I also want to record my screen. I tried to use screencapture but it didn't work and I would just have a black screen. I have thath for pretty much all the browswer sources.

what do you have open when you test it? obs and se editor?
if you have multiple scenes with the donation overlay then make sure the option below is ticked

theres 2 things that can happen here:
- the sound is comming from both the editor when you test and obs
or
- you have more than 1 scene with the alert in that is playing even tho its not the active scene

Unfortunately, SLOBS' overlay file is a custom file for their own scenes.
We can't import it. More like OBS Studio can't import it. Our plugin only provides activity feed and chat window for now.
