hey guys, i am having this problem where obs live is not detecting anything on my main screen, ive tried about everything to stream a game and the screen is just black for some reason

ive tried game capture and nothing shows up, when i try display capture i can see my regular screen but as soon as i open the game everything goes black

display capture will capture what ever is on your monitor. Game capture uses directx or openGL to hook directly into the game, so it will not work with all games. Window capture will hook into the application window. If you are seeing a black screen with using display capture, that has been known to happen if you are using something like a laptop that has an integrated GPU and a discrete GPU, and OBS has issues when the machine switches between them

make sure OBS is running as admin, and make sure only one capture source is active at one time. If its still black using display capture, it would be best to ask in the OBS Studio Discord, as I am not sure at that point

I think we had this issue before which some colored names didn't show up and it was fixed in a day or two

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, that your starting video starts every time.
But we usually recommend afterwards to use studio mode to pre-load your overlays.
If that is the issue that hte overlay won't load properly when you switch around.

@summer dew i cant screen share at the moment, but what is the problem? you have to preload your scenes in studio mode? what happens if you dont? also, what is happening with your transition? i sometimes noticed that after a long stream my transition didnt play properly and only showed part of it, or none of it at all. normally closing OBS and starting it again fixed that for me.

I was getting double audio to fix that I have to deactivate the other scene when it’s not showing but now if I do that my overlays have to reload so now I’m using studio mode but I switch between three scenes all the time and one of them has my starting video on it so if I go for my gameplay to my cam scene back-and-forth is fine but if I go from gameplay to my left monitor back to cam then my video starts again and now I’m only stuck between left monitor and camera screen preloaded not my gameplay has to be reloaded that makes sense I can probably explain it in a voice chat better than typing showing that’s why want to screen share

Voice or Video is sadly not an option for me at the moment. So why do you switch to a scene that Auto starts a video? Is that intented? If not, I would build another scene without the video

Alternative, take your widgets that make noise, like the alerts, and put them in their own overlay. This overlay would then be the only browser source you have set to shutdown when not visible, so you dont get the audio echo. The rest of your browser sources that do not play audio would NOT be set to be shutdown when not visible. This way all of the elements will always be loaded, and you can transition without using Studio Mode

So, you have to set the shutdown when not visible to prevent the multiple audio sounds, but the rest of the elements take time to load. so sperate these elements into different overlays, so you have have your widgets that make sound, like the alert widget, in an overlay that is set to be shutdown when not visible. The rest of your elements, images, labels, any widget that does not play sound, would be in its own overlay in a separate browser source that is not set to be shutdown when not visible. Doing this would allow you to transition without Studio Mode, and without the visual elements in the overlay needed to load.

Hey all, so I have a 64 bit processor and streamelements obs works with that. However I get the blackscreen issue and can't seem to fix it no matter what. Is there a 32 bit version? Asking because for some reason the 32 bit works but streamelements is not on there. How do I get streamelements to be on the 32 bit? Kinda a noob, sorry if this is a noob question.

It's possible your computer can't simultaneously handle both animated overlays and your game while streaming. You can share your specs, but chances are you'll need to stick to static assets instead.

This is the main reason why people invest into capture cards and dual PC setups

Lets start with, broken autoupdate - you are running an old version of OBS. I'd strongly suggest to manually update to 22.0.2, simply uninstalling OBS Studio and our plugin and getting a fresh installer of OBS.Live and install that.

Would still be the easiest to run the twitch test I linked a few hours ago. This will test your connection to all the twitch servers in the region you want to and with a proper result because this isn't a speed test.

@rugged quail There should be minimal difference in performance, if any, between obslive and obs. The frame issue you're experience is likely to occur with regular obs as well - since its likely a hardware throttle

I installed obs live about a month ago. It only drops when I stream games. It shouldn't though. Streaming games works fine with other streaming platforms

You have no control over the color, it should be related to the color the viewer has chosen, unless they have not chosen a color, then it will be grey

Thats weird, when I look at my chat on twitch they have the same colors they have picked, but on live it changes their colors.
Maybe its a bug, Idk. Like someone whos always been blue is oddly red on obs live, even though they show as blue on twitch.

that is super old, when OBS.Live was first being developed we simply imbedded the Twitch chat. Now the chat widget is our own custom chat, so its not possible to get it to look like Twitch chat

Your browser problem is not related to OBS.Live though. If you are having a problem with the site, its best to post in the appropriate support channel, #helpdesk-twitch or #helpdesk-youtube depending on the platform you are using. game capture does not work with all games. It relies on DirectX or OpenGL to hook directly into the game feed. Due to this injection some games anti-cheat measures will completely prevent game capture. In these cases you need to use window or display capture instead. Also ensure OBS is running as admin, as that can prevent the injection as well

But if the elgato is giving you a black screen on your TV, I'd suggest to unplug all the cables, plug the console only with elgato and then your PC
restart your PC and then see if you can plug the TV and see how that goes
maybe also have everything plugged in but turn off its power

OBS.Live is simply a plugin for OBS Studio. If you do not see the chat or activity feed widgets, they are enabled in the StreamElements menu. If you do not see these options logout from the StreamElements menu, then log back in

Before I try the Elgato reddit page. I would like to see if I can get help here. I’m using OBSLive by StreamElemnts, I have PS4, Elgato hd60s, and chat-link. I want to make it so ps4 party chat can be heard in stream as same for my mic/headset(connected to controller). I want to hear the game/system from speakers and chat from headset, all while stream is hearing both obviously. I looked at some videos, didn’t really found an answer. Also I understand I might play with Elgato settings trough their app on my pc(tried a bit and failed). I got results such as hearing nothing, hearing chat through headset and speakers, hearing game and chat through headset but only chat through speakers..and this before checking if stream gets both. Any help will do, would like a voice call as well for I think it will be easier. Your GPU is being overloaded. Best options are to lock framerate, and try lowering in-game graphic settings. I would also suggest not having a source for each game, you should only use one game capture source, and change the game in there. Having multiple game capture sources will cause problems

Hello, I have a little problem/question. Most likely and easy answer for you but confusing for me. A good friend made me an into for my stream. Saved in Mp4 format, I added it to the source;s list, the Media plays perfectly but there i no audio 😦 researching for a few days I think I need to assign a driver to it? They are talking about adding the video as a media source to OBS. When you add a media source to OBS, it will also add an audio capture source for the media source. If you have not properly configured OBS to use the correct audio device, you will need to ensure you have done that first

Hi all, I'm having two issues, 1. With OBS - I have multiple scenes and with individual browser overlays setup, but when I get an alert (e.g Follow), the Alertbox plays once on the scene I'm currenty on, then will repeat itself on the other scenes (you can't see the alert but the sound file plays multiple times with a 1 second delayed start between them (depends how many browser sources there are)). I have removed all browser overlays from my other scenes and the problem goes away, is there an easy fix for this?

- I'm setting up OBS live on my laptop. I have all my settings and scenes up and running the way I like on my desktop. How do I go about transferring from desktop to laptop?
- for some reason my windows in OBS are not displaying correctly. I've included a picture of what Im talking about but for example. My chat window is sized correctly. However the area inside the window is not displaying correctly so my chat "window" is good, but the chat typing area is way too small. I'm not sure what causes this?

you can export the scene collection from one machine, and import it to the other, and the chat size issue would most likely be related to the resolution scaling on the system, if it were set to 100%, I would expect the chat to fill the widget properly

I didn't know game capture constantly tries to hook in. But I did a scene as a source so I can easily control all the captures since I have them show up on my webcam scene in the corner but I don't want something like game capture all the time

Best case is, to use a VPN. This can sometimes also affect twitch.

OBS keeps picking nvenc for the RTX because nvenc got a major upgrade with RTX cards. nvenc on RTX is comparable to x264 on the fast preset, which you currently have as faster, so in the end, nvenc would be the better option for you setup, hence OBS setting it as so

well, the bitrate you have set should be fine for that, but if its not stable, then you could drop frames and there is not much that can be done about that without getting better internet. Since the GPU is not getting completely overloaded, best option would be to lower settings, like output FPS, I would suggest trying 30 FPS

If the game does not give a 16:9 ratio option, there is no way you are going to fit it properly into a 16:9 canvas. You will have to deal with letterboxing

@tepid smelt when obs.live is released out of beta it is planned to support Youtube. But there is no ETA for that yet.

Having a 1080ti does not guarantee you will not overload the gpu. OBS will render the entire canvas on the gpu, then send it to the encoder. That plus running the game, and everything else the gpu is doing all takes resources. To help mitigate this, you can lower in game settings, lock fps or use vsync, or lower stream output settings

Does not matter what GPU you have, you can overload everything. Limit FPS ingame, see if that helps. Just turn Vsync on for a minute.

Yes, Streamlabs OBS is a completely separate version of OBS, based on OBS Studio's open source code.
Uninstalling it will not uninstall OBS Studio.

I am running the stream elements OBS and never had issues till today its suddenly running at 50% cpu usage people in my stream say it looks fine but its causing any game I run to lag out hard I never had this issue before when I close out the browser window attached to obs with task manager the usage goes down update they said it was laggy and glitching bad and I notice the usage keeps going up right now Im running it without streaming and its still eating 50%+

It sounds like you imported twice, in which case you'll have to go to your revenue history in StreamElements and delete the duplicate entries.

@empty warren limit the FPS, make sure that the GPU is below 95% load (check via MSI afterburner or something else, not via Taskmanager) and try to record with same settings. You will see that it works.

How come some games makes obs drop frames? like rocket league is stable 60 fps and i start spellbreak or roe i drop directly and this is when i only have obs open in preview mode nothing else.

OBS can act differently depending on the game you're trying to capture. OBS support can look through your OBS logs and provide insight.

its a standard thing from OBS.
Let me tell you the difference between us and SLOBS:
- We provide an addon for OBS Studio, that only adds activity feed + Chat + renaming bot (next update is going to be media request)
- SLOBS is a fork of OBS Studio, so they've changed the UI and other functionality, but still depend on OBS things, but their support is their own and updates come on a different pace, while our plugin is instantly working with new versions.

I've been using StreamElements as a bot and general stream management system for about half a year now, and for overlays too in SLOBs - but SLOBs kinda crapped the bed for me tonight and I've heard lots of good stuff about OBS and, in addition, OBS Live. Plus the helpdesks you all have are super responsive.
So having OBS Live doesn't count as Ground Control for custom bot name?

Cause I have my custom bot name through Ground Control already, legit - I think I had one stream with OBS Studio once and it was glitchy or something for my viewers
and we had some troubles and just gave up and went back to SLOBs

hey, i just installed obs.live, and when i restarted OBS the plugin was still there but the chat and notification panels are gone. can someone tell me how to make them show again?

I would suggest to uninstall again, restart PC, make sure the folders are deleted from that location then run the installer as admin

i had trouble uninstalling a few .dll files earlier but its fixed
the only thing i can think that might be not completely straightforward about my install is that i didnt use the default install location, i put it in a folder on my 2nd hard drive.

If you don't use stream deck, that maybe that .dll file is causing the crash.
I'd suggest to make sure you don't have any streamdeck software installed

Then I'd recommend to remove the software since you don't need it anyway.
And if you removed the software, go to c:\program files (x86)\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit\ and make sure that streamdeckplugin.dll got removed too. If this isn't the case, delete it manually.

So for the last 2 days OBS has just stopped sending a signal to Twitch and cut off my stream, this problem only showed up yesterday and happens 2 or 3 times over a 6 hour stream. my mods get a "Twitch machine got unplugged, error code 2000" over their video. Any idea as to what is causing this problem?

not sure what you mean by limiter, but all the out of the box filters are accessed by clicking on gear of the audio device in question, and adding a filter

@rugged quail If you're having the same issue as me then you need to add the audio sources into your scene, this will bring up the limiters. A few updates ago audio stopped being auto added on my OBS hopefully it's something simple like that for you

You are not adding it at the correct resolution, or your canvas and source sizes do not match
@simple cairn you need a store redemption widget in your overlay. If you have that, then you might not be capturing the correct audio device. It should play from what windows has set as the default audio device

OBS literally has a button to get to the logs, its in the bot response.
Help > Log Files > Show Log Files. click, grab recent log, drop in here
According to this log, OBS cannot load the audio devices specified, being your USB speakers, a USB microphone, and then later in another scene it appears you are trying to use virtual cable as a source, and that is terminated at the same time the microphone has failed to load again. So it appears you have a more complicated setup that originally stated by saying you are capturing the desktop audio, and that you have an actual issue with OBS accessing your devices, which would be a USB controller problem, driver problem, or a configuration issue on the audio devices from the Windows side of things. My first suggestion however, would be to upgrade OBS Studio, as your Studio version is an older release, 21.1.2, and the latest release is 22.0.2

You cant compare SLOBS to OBS. SLOBS is a hard fork of OBS, and is very far off the development path of OBS, and is really far behind the current branch of OBS. I would suggest updating OBS for sure, and it looks like the device was terminated after you made changes to the settings for it, so you might have set it to something that is not compatible with the device
