To set up the bot for your YouTube stream, please follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your stream is public. The bot cannot join a private/unlisted stream.
  2. Your stream must be live for the bot to join the chat.
  3. Go to https://studio.youtube.com/, click on Settings > Community and add https://youtube.com/c/streamelements or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjerlCIbLPQwSnYlClkjDXg as a Moderator.
  4. When live, be sure to look at Live chat instead of Top chat, as Top chat will hide the bot messages.

If you are using OBS, make another scene and put an image in it, usually one that says "Starting soon" or something like that. Then on your desktop, you can play music in the background quietly and OBS will pick it up. If you don't want it to be an image, you can make it a browser source and take the GIF from the internet to be more involving in your video. If this didn't make sense since I'm mostly sure it doesn't, lmk and I'll try to explain it with images or something xD

There is no easy way to unlink 2 owner-type accounts from each other. The only way is to make a closure request from here: https://streamelements.com/dashboard/account/security WARNING: In submitting a closure request, all linked channels within the account will be deleted and you will lose all associated data. This includes overlays, custom commands, timers and past data (tips, subs, etc). You can still reconnect with the deleted account, but you are essentially starting fresh.

Hi! I integrated StreamElements with my YT channel. I set up tipping with PayPal, chat alerts, bot timers and added bot as one of my YT channel moderators. I'm streaming from PS5. I'm not using capture card. I streamed yesterday, stream was working file, however I didn't get any alert during it (there was new subscriber for example) and my activity feed is completely empty in StreamElements. Actually that is a known issue with going Live with SE.Live. Devs are aware of the issue.
The workaround for this is, to click on the "Live Video Settings" button in the chat dock and use the 2nd option from the pop up "Use these settings" to go live.

Hi I am new to Stream Elements and Obs... When I set up Obs with the quick start, it wants my base resolution in 1920×1080 but then it wants to change it to 1280x720 for streaming output. When I create overlays in Overlay Editor which resolution should I choose to make my overlays appear clearest for viewers?

Secondly, I struggled really bad with dropped frames in Streamlabs (30% every 2 minutes) with the output resolution 1280 x720, 30 fps, and 1500 bitrate (based upon my upload and my computer specifications I determined it was Streamlabs causing the issue)... Yesterday, I used Obs and Stream Elements with the same numbers and overall my drop rate was 1.8% for the full stream... I think it was a million times better but I'm trying to gauge if 1.8% dropped frames is good or if I should fiddle with my numbers more. I'm having a difficult time determining what my numbers should be. When I set up Obs it said I was good to do 60 fps and 3000 bitrate at 1280x720 and I laughed at that and changed it just due to past experiences.

Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

I cannot find a way to customize the kappagen command. I see the option in my dashboard when my account is connected to twitch, but not to youtube. Is it not available with YT?

StreamElements is added as a mod and none of my bot commands work on YouTube.

StreamElements logs me out halfway through my streams, about an hour - 1.5 hours in. It suddenly stops tracking and I have to log out and log back in.

Hi! I raised a support ticket informing that SE completely doesn't work with my YT channel, no alerts, no activity feeds, no timers. Response was that I have to try superchat or membership events so that your team can gather more data and troubleshoot. I explained that I am a small streamer and that I will be able to do that only after getting 1k subscribers. Answer was that this is the only way :| Is that really truth? Hi,

This can be done by you directly - you can go to the Google Permissions page, log in with your YT channel there and remove the permissions for StreamElements. Once done, log back into StreamElements with your YouTube channel and the connection will be refreshed.

If you don't have the upload speed to support a higher resolution, then use a lower one.

for 18,000 kbps stream upload, you'll need 18 mb + 25% (so about 22.5 mb upload minimum) and it has to be stable.

If your computer isn't very powerful, downscaling takes processing power so you'll want to keep it at whatever your screen resolution is.

I explained that 3rd party services are pinging Google for information, and Google is delivering information back that should no longer exist. So it's a wider issue that doesn't have any support currently

There is no easy way to unlink 2 owner-type accounts from each other. The only way is to make a closure request from here: https://streamelements.com/dashboard/account/security

WARNING: In submitting a closure request, all linked channels within the account will be deleted and you will lose all associated data. This includes overlays, custom commands, timers and past data (tips, subs, etc). You can still reconnect with the deleted account, but you are essentially starting fresh.

I have custom bot commands set up but whenever anyone uses them, the ${user} variable breaks and just says "${user}",
For example, here is one that you would get with !time
${user}, For Splefer, it is ${time.MST}
It would say in chat

The time variable works but never the user one, this also happens in all my commands

So I had a guy come into my stream and say I was echoing pretty bad while he was watching it. But I had my iPad out and I checked to see if there was an echo and there wasn’t. Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

My first stream on YouTube in SE.Live I had a field to send chat messages in my chat window in OBS/SE.Live. Every stream after that I can see viewer's chat messages but at the bottom there is no field for me to enter chat, it's just an endless feed. I tried popping out the chat window and expanding it too but it seems to just be an endless box.

not all overlays are created the same and they do handle different data. You can create a twitch account and then merge it with your YouTube account. After doing this, you could merge the two accounts and then transfer the overlay over. that's one way to bring it over

You shouldn't need a stream key to connect from Streamelements to OBS to Youtube. Streamelements overlays can go to OBS through a browser source in OBS, and OBS connects to YouTube automatically when you go live on YouTube (assuming your accounts are linked).

You need to create a broadcast to send, including a title and settings. You do that either in Youtube Studio itself or through OBS's "Broadcast" window. The two are connected, so either will do.

If you already made one in YouTube, go to the "Select Existing Broadcast" tab in OBS's broadcast window, and your broadcast should be an option to select. Select it and press "start streaming" in OBS.

Chat won't show up unless you're live. There is no way to test it without being live.

There is no easy way to unlink 2 owner-type accounts from each other. The only way is to make a closure request from here: https://streamelements.com/dashboard/account/security

WARNING: In submitting a closure request, all linked channels within the account will be deleted and you will lose all associated data. This includes overlays, custom commands, timers and past data (tips, subs, etc). You can still reconnect with the deleted account, but you are essentially starting fresh.

Hi I'm Streaming to YouTube via OBS using a SE overlay with 2 elements: an alerbox and a Stream's Chat.
Alertbox works fine I see it on YouTube. But cant get Stream's Chat element to sync with the actual YouTube Chat.
My testing stream is non listed.
Would you guys give me some orientation?

  2. In the Target field, add the following to the very end: --remote-debugging-port=40404 (don't forget to add a space before the current path)

Finally discovered this command issue is happening with another chat bot

Users can choose to make the channels that they subscribe to public or private. By default, all settings are set to private.

Private: When a user's subscriptions are set to private, no other user can see what channels they subscribe to. A user's account does not show in a channel's Subscribers List, even if they are subscribed.
Public: When users subscriptions are set to public, another user can see what channels they subscribe to. User subscriptions are listed on their channel page and their account is listed in the Subscribers List for any channel they subscribe to.

Okay, So what's rough about this is I can't test unless you're live, but you're noticing the same issue with another bot. Fun fact, Bots on YT can have a 10-15 second delay in responses. Sometimes 20+, that's not on us, that's on YouTube and how they handle these things. In Theory, your bot should work and have no issue connecting and working with your account, but let's try something.

Please visit this page, make sure to click on your avatar/icon on the top right and then switch to the branded/channel account to see the Streamelements connection. Let's Remove it and then sign back in with your YouTube page on StreamElements. If something goes wrong, let me know, but nothing should break

Hey there, I've bound StreamElements to my Youtube account. It sees that I've gone live and shows my subs and all that, but the ChatBot doesn't seem to be connecting to my streams when I go live. I can't run any commands and timers don't work. I allowed StreamElements permissions to my account already, but I don't see it as a moderator for my channel under the community settings. Did I miss a step here?

think i found one of the sources of the issues i was having.

i was having an issue with my OBS showing a white block where the preview should have been. I found out you actually need decent gpu even if the pc with OBS isn't being gamed on. I run a dual PC setup. Replacing the GPU with a beefier one ended up fixing that issue. idk if anyone cares but I thought I would post it here in the hopes that it helps someone.

Make sure to :ballot_box_with_check: “Shutdown source when not visible” for all browser sources (all OBS scenes).
