I'm using streamlabs and want to include a bot with a custom name in chat. I've been told to use StreamElements since streamlabs wants you to use Prime to give the bot a custom name, but i can't find on the site how to incorporate this bot into my chat. I've made an account with the bot's name and made it a moderator, but commands don't work.

Heya guys! Just a curiosity questions, I've seen that it is possible to stream using dual PC over wifi using NDI tools, now my question is...does that really improve performance?

I'm asking that because the tool has to be downloaded on both machines and both need to have OBS open and running. Wouldn't that mean that the gaming PC still has to encode the images and then send them to the encoding PC?

@indigo lily If you changed your name on Twitch, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

  • from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
  • from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

@livid elbow If a viewer tipped through PayPal but no information appears in your StreamElements account, this generally means PayPal has held the tip for verification.
Until PayPal clears the tip and sends back a confirmation to your StreamElements account, no information will appear there and no alert will play, as that confirmation is the only way for us to be aware of a successful transaction.
There is a posibility that the tip may have been sent as an eCheque/eCheck - these tips can take from 7 up to 21+ days to show up on our side. Tippers can usually cancel these.
If you believe there may be an issue with the transaction, you'll need to contact PayPal support as StreamElements is only a passthrough service and never actually gets involved with the transaction or touches the money

@open fern The !watchtime command is directly tied to the Loyalty system. The Loyalty system must be enabled for viewers' watchtime to count up.
To enable Loyalty, please go to the Loyalty section of your account: https://streamelements.com/dashboard/loyalty
Watchtime counts up every 10 minutes alongside Loyalty points, and only while the stream is live. Reruns will not be counted.
Please note that watchtime is not tracked by Twitch and there is no way to retroactively apply past watchtime to viewers.

Based on the layout you choose for the text, it will adjust the image. If you made adjustments then switched the layout, it will carry those over which can make things look odd

@open fern If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

Steps:

@umbral prairie If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

  • from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
  • from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

Are we allowed to manually connect to stream elements websocket for creating custom, locally hosted overlays? The overlays I'm working with don't work through browser source - causes too much lag. @south minnow Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

hi! I don't know why this happens to me. The streamelements commands do not work on my channel. If I hit exit channel and add it again, the commands work only once and it doesn't work again. When I kick out and add back to streamelements, it works again once and no more. I don't use obs.live, I use obs studio and the streamelements website. Help pls

@open fern The !watchtime command is directly tied to the Loyalty system. The Loyalty system must be enabled for viewers' watchtime to count up.
To enable Loyalty, please go to the Loyalty section of your account: https://streamelements.com/dashboard/loyalty
Watchtime counts up every 10 minutes alongside Loyalty points, and only while the stream is live. Reruns will not be counted.
Please note that watchtime is not tracked by Twitch and there is no way to retroactively apply past watchtime to viewers.

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

I recently discovered an issue with streamelements alerts if the width and height isnt set correctly. The few videos I found explainging the fix, is to change those to 1920×1080 in alert settings.
My question is, should I be changing it my actual obs canvas, or 1920×1080 is like the default setting to force it to work?

Hello, I reported a streamer for breach of TOS on your platform, they were banned from Streamlabs and after my initial report, they have now continued abuse of their animals and abuse of moderation, viewers, and verbal abuse of their partner. I have gathered all new evidence but I would like to make another report if it is ok to do so. A previous server mod told me one report would suffice but more breach of TOS has been added daily.

Ok, my obs base canvas is 1440p as well. Rescaled to 720 for twitch stream, so I can have streamelements alert size settings set to whatever, 1280×720 if I want(makes its easier to position things for me) I just gotta make sure when I add the browser url to obs to set that to 1920×1080 and I will be all good?

Hi, I'm trying to have TTS activate on any cheer alert at 100+ bits. It is currently activating only at 101+, not at 100.

Hello, So, i moved from Stream labs to Elements today, not long after streaming a few of my regulars were saying that it kept stopping and starting again for them, i triple checked all my settings and they are almost identical from SLOBS other people said they had no issues, normally this would be down to the viewers not being able to download what you are uploading, but switching back to SLOB fixed the issue for them, Anyone else had this issue ?

So, the twitch total sub label on stream elements only displays a number that isn't reflected on my twitch dashboard. Is there any reason for that, or any way for stream elements to properly show how many subscribers I see on my dashboard?

EX, the label says 63, but my dashboard says 84. Resetting the session, changing to relative, or monthly does nothing to solve the issue.

@drowsy egret it seems to be related to a custom bot name, when I just set it back to 'streamelements' vs 'xorosegold' (her channel name for the bot) it seems to work. Itll work with a custom name about 75% of the time, seems totally random.

although for some reason, other moderators (myself) are unable to get the bot to respond to me, for whatever reason. It only responds to normal users it seems.... very odd

@mystic warren Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.
